  1. I'll sign up for #3, tentative as well. I don't want to die...
  2. 7) As it might be apparent in (most of) my posts here on the RPC, I very much enjoy lighthearted humor and kidding around. Laughter is the best medicine, and though my sense of humor does not always translate well over text, I enjoy making people smile. However, that does not mean I don't take my RP very seriously. In fact, I take it very seriously, and I expect the same courtesy extended to me from all those I play with. I do the same for everyone, as I know both myself and many others put a tremendous amount of time and energy into their roleplay. With that being said, I will confess my number one song listened to during intense and dramatic scenes is this: tjNE-P1g4ZE Why? It is a mystery.
  3. I have and always will be ENTP, no matter how many times I take variations of these tests... I guess it makes sense, a lot of it is pretty accurate. It is a comfort knowing that ENTP is the least extroverted of the extroverts, since I can swap pretty easily between the two. People really suck sometimes. Edda is nearly the exact opposite as an INFJ.
  4. A lot of stuff from last year's Moonfire was recycled from the year before that, and Legacy Moonfire as well. It's always been tradition to be able to obtain stuff from last year's even, to make it fair and enjoyable for people who missed out. I mean, at the end of the day, it's free content. Most of the previous Moonfire stuff is all recolors anyway - I'd rather have one fresh new design of something cute in one color than a load of the same stuff, only one has a butterfly on the butt, y'know?
  5. Stop speaking so sweetly, Sounsyy. You're going to get everyone's hopes up. What are you going to say next, Levi and Ramuh egis for 4.0? Swimming? A lay down emote? Preposterous. If 3.xx content is not required for 4.0, as rumor has it, we should all prepare our butts for no new zones and some stupid, made up Job, like... Ringmaster. Mostly I'm just kidding though. But I do have to wonder how they will handle such a thing. Obviously the MSQ won't be going away for returning players. Are they going to put up a little disclaimer on those quests for those who haven't moved on to 4.0 content and haven't heard the good news? "By the way you can skip this shit." Something like that.
  6. CUT MY CAKE INTO PIECES THIS IS MY SACHERTORTE
  7. Edda is unable to say the names of people that have deeply wounded her emotionally, or those she simply hates. A flock of dodos will send her into a state of hysterical fear. Screaming, crying, running away, etc. Though she consciously tries to eat sparingly in order to mind her weight and appearance, she will occasionally go into trance-like states where she can consume vast quantities of food without even being aware she is doing so. Her slaps are remarkably well-practiced, sharp, and painful, while appearing graceful and effortless. Edda is able to slap anyone with near-perfect aim and control of hand vs. air aerodynamics. This is the only way she is able to inflict physical harm on anyone - any other types of efforts will fail spectacularly.
  8. Item Flavor Text Wind-up Edda A prim and proper lady, just for you! She'd probably be worth more on the market board than in your pockets, however. Use item to acquire the wind-up Edda minion. Minion Guide Wind-up Edda This wind-up automaton was commissioned by Edda's sister for reasons unknown, though she frequently forgets about the doll and will leave it randomly throughout the house. Edda always manages to find her way back, however, just as she was meant to. Behavior: Obedient It's better than the real thing! - Ennis Eglantine
  9. Public apologies are rarely, if ever, done in earnest. Apologize to those you have harmed privately, and move on in your own way. There is little gain in airing out your laundry on a public forum. It is always a good thing to work past bad events, but I would recommend doing so in a way that does not bring such glaring attention to your past issues. Good luck.
  10. 6) I have grown increasingly weary toward the attitude that in order to be involved in RP, one must merely force your character into on-going scenes, events, and conversations. While I am aware that the onus is on me when it comes to forcing my way into a scene rather than waiting around to being invited, anyone who has been forgotten during one of these situations can tell you that it is not so easy. The ability to read the mood and atmosphere of a scene is an important one. More often than not, saying "just jump in!" is far easier said than done. Much like a game of group jump rope, no one will turn to the kid with notably poor athletic and coordination abilities and say "come on, jump in!" when it will cause your RP to (figuratively) look like this: No one wants to interrupt a fun group conversation that has nothing to do with them and cause it to go awry for any number of reasons (too many people = chaos, disjointed reactions due to different typing speeds, sudden interruption can cause a shift in subject change resulting in dispersion of the RP). I cannot imagine most people would want to interrupt an intense, dramatic scene between two characters that would ultimately blue-ball them from any resolution and development. Of course, these situations are not always (not even usually) the case, but I would urge those who wonder and scoff at RPers when they are hesitant to involve themselves to re-examine the scene and the context of them doing so. Sometimes, it is not always the best choice, and far and away from the easiest one.
  11. A longer, more robust description of a character's action does not make them appear any more intelligent than if you had gone the simpler route. It may make the player seem more intelligent, but it should not reflect on the perception of a character. Though at this point, it is just an argument of semantics, and there is a clear miscommunication here of what it takes for someone to perceive IC intelligence.
  12. This is true every once and a while. Maybe. But like Warren said, not really. It's a huge difference, and that line of thinking doesn't only apply to roleplay either. If you cannot cook a good burger through your cooking skills = You simply need to get across that you intended to cook a good burger. If you cannot make another good three Star Wars movies through your directing ability = You simply need to get across your intent of making three more good Star Wars movies.
  13. Either you are not getting your point across, or you are contradicting yourself. While both posts support your belief that one is limited by their writing ability, the following thoughts are rather contrasting. I have little personal interest in your explanation - this post is merely for the sake of yourself and the rest of the thread.
  14. I beta tested this for a few hours or so. Honestly, I didn't really like it. It has a similar aesthetics to RO, but beyond that they are vastly different. I figured this would be able to fill the void that game left in me, but it didn't even manage to tide me over for a measly three hours. Way too linear, and the class system is... strange.
  15. "Awe shit yes it's time to RP with Sasha, another classy lady SUCH AS MYSELF. I gotta step up my fashion game here... I know! I'll show off that new RP outfit I threw together the other night!" "..........FUCK."
  16. For all its quiet and peaceful air, Fallgourd Float was by no means a far removed hamlet. With the sudden opening of Ishgard's gates, the town now saw more people passing through its gates than ever before. Even still, it was not uncommon for mail to arrive several suns late - whether through negligence of the Moogles, or some unclear force that plagued the Northern Shroud. It was a cloudy morning when Edda received two letters in the mail, both enclosed with her family seal. She frowned as she took them up to her room. Her more recent trip to Vylbrand had been tiring, ending with a rather strange encounter with Spahro Llorn, whom she had not seen in over half a cycle. Edda opening the first of the letter. Enclosed was a small note, and a neatly folded copy of the advertisement Spahro had mentioned. She squinted at it. The fireworks enhanced the advertisement indeed, but only seven gil? A questionable amount. Edda looked to the note, filled with the gentle script of her mother's hand. Grateful that her mother at least had the care to let her know, Edda opened the next letter. Inside was the very same advertisement her mother had sent, but in notably worse condition, as if it had been crumpled in an angry fist. The small note read:
  17. Edda would most certainly be The Valedictorian. You know the type, the one that the rest of the class can't imagine having a life outside of school. She gets dropped off and picked up every day in a fancy car, and rumor has it her family owns the school building itself. With that aura of near-perfection, she is rarely approached by anyone. Eats by herself at lunch, never speaks up more than necessary in class, never talks to anyone outside of group projects and sharing notes. Everyone knows who she is, yet no one knows her name. People would gossip about the infuriating ice queen perfectionist, then turn around and ask "who?" during her speech at graduation. No one would keep in contact with her after the fact, and neither would she. However, she would show up at class reunions, leading to some awkward two minute conversations. Despite all that, at least a few choice classmates would remember her for her pathetic "performances" in PE...
  18. While it is difficult to grasp just how much the gil:USD conversion rate is, I find that there are several clues both through lore and in-game mechanics that can give us a few ideas, and a generally solid idea about the worth of gil. To start, it is known that teleporting is not widely used by the average citizen, because it is both difficult, straining, and expensive. How expensive? If we consider the average cost of a teleport to be about 400 gil, I would argue that while 400 gil is not a whole lot, it is substantial enough for people to say "I'll walk," much like some people's attitude towards cab fare. Affordable, but expensive enough to be a deterrent. It is hard to say how much the average citizen earns versus the average adventurer, but I would dare to imagine that Average NPC #24 would not make more than 10,000 gil in a month, or more. When it comes to "what's low" and "what's really low," putting a value on gil becomes quite a conundrum. However, when it comes to substantial amounts (I'm talking Kardashian-levels here), we can make a few estimations based on lore alone. It has been some time since I have done this quest, so I am a bit hazy, but Memeriga here gives us an idea of what the extremely wealthy generally have access to. Do note: Memeriga is not a member of the Syndicate, so even this amount is not fully indicative of how much dosh those guys have. Also, we can assume this is not his entire net worth, as he would need to have more stored for before/after the completion of the cauldron, as well as some to hire mercenaries. That being said, I do not think that amount is something that could even be comprehended by Average NPC #24, or most adventurers. Obviously this is a silly scene from a silly quest, so it would be easy for people to argue hyperbole, however, let us keep in mind that just because a quest or cutscene is ridiculous, does not mean it exists outside of the lore (i.e. Hildy questline).
  19. Jancis, Edda, and Ciel are celebrities. Do not look them in the eyes and no flash photography, pls. (I joke, they are all wonderful and friendly people ! You should not hesitate to say hi !) No joke, Ameline and I RPed last night - although we all know Mel was referring to Edda Vincents. Unrelated, I generally feel like crying when someone asks me to RP, even if I have a tough time believing it, I consider it a huge honor. I'm sure most RP celebs feel the same way, so don't hesitate.
  20. 1) I am severely under-confident about my RP and legitimately believe I am bad at it. Though I have never RPed in my life before playing this game, I am the type that will consign myself to ever be a failure at something if I am unable to do it correctly the first time. 2) I am highly uncomfortable asking people to RP most of the time, especially if they have a large network of friends. As someone who is generally not sought out by others for RP, I often wonder if those who agree when I ask are merely humoring me, or doing so begrudgingly. Knowing that RPers tend to be a more... passive bunch, I really do worry that sometimes I am THAT asshole. I enjoy roleplay enough that I have not ceased to ask people for it, but the worry that I am being a real pain in the ass, and not taken at all seriously, is always there. 3) I will not interrupt people who are conversing outside of the game, and I am extremely unlikely to do it in roleplay either. I feel it is extremely rude. Oddly, I do not feel this way when anyone other than myself does so. 4) Poor English and grammar does not bother me in the slightest, so long as a visible effort is being made. I find poor attitudes toward one's English particularly distasteful - consistently low-effort, one sentence RPers notwithstanding. Surely if you posses such a mastery of the language, you should be able to decipher the meaning behind the words of one who is ESL. 5) While I like to keep as close to the lore as I can get, I will roleplay with anyone, regardless of their character concept, at least once. Beggars cannot be choosers.
  21. This is great news, gender locks or no. But WHEN will my DREAM of being able to properly /sit on beach chairs be realized!? You can't just put sitting furniture in the game if no one but NPCs can sit in them... It's not fair, SE. It's just not fair...
  22. I do not think teleportation is something that should be ignored in roleplay at all. Unlike fantasia potions, the ability to teleport is referenced in the MSQ and is based in the lore of the game. Otherwise, what purpose would aetherytes serve, or would those have to be ignored as well? Hand-waving the ability to teleport is one thing, but the purpose and existence of massive structures seems like it would be more of a stretch in lore than quietly acknowledging that teleportation is a thing that exists. However, I do not think that teleportation is something that should be freely used on a whim. Edda is quite skilled at teleportation, but I have used it in RP a grand total of two times in the course of over a year. Teleporting endlessly, using it to "blink" small distances during combat, using it to traverse impossibly long distances (i.e. from Garlemald to Vylbrand) - all of these are liberal uses of the skill that I would not likely appreciate. It should also be noted that not everyone and their grandmothers are able to teleport, otherwise airships, boats, and chocobos would not really be a thing. It is an ability that must be honed, and there are side-effects that come with it. All in all, while I do think conventional travel is far more preferable, teleportation is not something that should be ignored. You don't have to roleplay it, you don't even have to like it - but it is a part of the world. Much like miqo'te, and gunblades.
