Well, I went with the Kha tribe to make here a wandering seeker of cultures. I also made her quite tribal, and that she considers this life to be a superior way than hiding behind walls in cities. Though she started in another tribe, she failed their trial and so was taken in by the Kha. I am Sumi of the Kha, kohai to Xorxoi of the Kha. I have been with the Kha since senpai noticed me and bid me follow him.I tended to his needs as he travelled to many lands, my blades there to protect him as needed. Then one day he bid me to set aside the steel, saying that if I held a blade all my options would involve using them. Since that day I walked as his student and no more as his servant. It was in Sharlayan where I was to refine my learnings that my Master disappeared helping the Sharlayan's look for a lost sage beyond Ishgard. It was at this time I was accepted as full Shaman of the Kha, and sent to Eorzea to gather its knowings and forbidden from searching for him.

I totaly get this. Well I will RP with most people, but what makes me come back is this lego blocks so that together we can build a house, space ship,you name it. If the responses are weak I will try some more but it is unlikely I will be back. If the blocks don't fit together I will also probably avoid or at least try and meet them half way That's why I love free-form open RP and just seeing where it goes. If I want scripted/limited responces I'm go play a solo RPG.

Definitely yes, but then i cry at any old soppy film. This is one of the reasons I like deeper RP, and while I still like fun it is the complexity of things rather than just a feeling of surface play.

Just a thought, you could add a curiosity seller, with charms, treasure maps, strange idols, potions that the lable fell off etc..

Well as basics (even advanced goes) dip into this great resource on what RP is [The Role-Play Handbook] Also if starting I'd recommend you check out the [RP Linkskell & Free Company Lists for Balmung] for things that suit you. Also go along to the events advertised on this site, but I would suggest the smaller ones rather than mass gatherings if you are starting out. You can try your luck at walk up RP, but I would suggest a beginner friendly FC is probably your best bet.

This mostly, just reinforce your characterization. Though they are small and cute, that is something that comes with the race and something you have to accept when you choose to play one.

Welcome, I have a similar diverse RP experience, though these days I am almost exclusively in mmorpgs. My latex elf ears are probably past their use by date. You sound confident enough that there will be much RP to pick up in the game. Personally I love open freeform RP that goes where the RP takes it. So will keep an eye out for your char.

Join a LS.. though these are hit and miss and wax and wane. Actively make RP emotes, talk to the NPCs, exclaim at thing. This can pick up RP in all sorts of places. In the end when there is no RP about .. craft.

It's more like undying loyalty. They aren't mercenaries. I never said anything about a master in my OP, that was your point. My point was around openly declaring yourself a ninja, or rather not doing this. I don't care if people have a master or not, or even a soul crystal or not. For me it just seems to spoil the mystique if there is no mystery. Though I tend to see the classes as stereotypical archetypes and in RP we are free to blend in our own story and take on that. Though I accept some take the full rigidity of the game, I see it more as a loose framework that creates a common setting. To each their own.

Sure you can have a master, even be part of an organisation. But also maybe your master is dead? Then you find a new master. Ninja are all about serving others without the utmost loyalty. That's kind of their thing. Maybe for you but there is scope to play them differently. The point is should they walk around saying "I am ninja"?

How can you tell the ninja, they don't look like ninja. I would play some other "cover" class and the Ninja out in secret. Maybe someone gets suspicious? etc.. Weather I am doing this already i could not say

No skipping! Especially for such a cornerstone of the RP community. We may not RP but I still admire seeing you active and generating RP. *hugs*

Is it love? No it isn't, such a thing will take time to get to and like so many have said, they met their RL partners this way. Friendship is probably closer, you found someone you can interact with that makes the interaction positive and more than 1+1=2. For me I am here for IC interaction, but in an RP partner it works best with some trust that is OOC. So often these things bring OOC friendships. The kicker is that the interaction is over a limited channel. In one level you only see part of who someone is, at the other end many people are not who they claim to be. My advice, enjoy the friendship but be sceptical and prepare for hurt. That may sound harsh but many many people have experienced this. Yet we still open our arms and hearts with hope.

I don't think the char is disabled though, I think it's the tribe's lore not to talk Ah Op did not say just "My new character is silent, and as such she cannot communicate by voice" If playing someone who chooses not to talk, I'd still say the same. Use it as flavour and not something that replaces a "human" story.

Same old warning.. play the character not the disability. Playing a disability gets old really quick. Make sue the character is viable without it then add it in for flavour. That's basically it.. oh and remember, you chose to play the defect not the other players. So if you get frustrated, it is your problem not theirs.

I am in the UK and have been on Balmung since beta and also played other games in EU and NA. This is what I have found. Latency/Connection for normal play it is fine, especially since they fixed some of the encounters that really punished you for high latency. For raid stuff then use something like WTFast which worked for me and I end game raided through Coil. (you can now run keep running this for free as I understand). Role Play Community. Over time numbers fall and the EU side becomes very thin. However, if you can still transfer back then this should not be an issue in the long term. (I know in SWTOR this was/is an issue as it does not support server transfers from EU and NA). You may also suffer from a low population server, in terms of the market board for example. edit - I can also see Balmung loosing more players from the EU timeslot, which means that for EU players it becomes a very empty place indeed.

Welcome to Balmung and RPC, I would certainly look at the RP events being run over then next two weeks as there are many many. As for clothing, I'd suggest finding an RP look and saving that, you can then wear this in town etc.. Then your random adventuring gear can be just that. You probably know about FCs and LSs, there is a directory of ones here under the Linkshells Tab above.
