I'd say Free Company and Linkshells if you have not already looked into these, as a good way to get involved and some of the events posted here. Also if you want some nice long claw/nails for your cat head to the Golden Saucer for some Claws of the Beast.

This is my approach too. In fact personally I prefer to do as much IC as possible. Tells are welcome though, even if just to get you noticed especially if lots of txt activity.

Thanks for the heads up! Indeed I'm slowly learning that expanding on one character seems to be the most comfortable way to progress, which is different, but definitely welcomed. And thanks for the tips on Linkshells/FC, I'll have to take a look. My starting tips are to Follow the main quest story, this unlocks Grand Company, travel, mounts, companion and other classes Do your class quest Don't worry about completing all the side quests, you will out level these and you can pick them up when you start other classes. Having other classes lets you pick "Additional" cross class skills Gathering and Crafting are other classes in the game and just as complex as learning a combat class There is oodles and oodles more that could be said.. best thing is join a FC or LS so you have advice on tap.

As a player from the UK I can say that there is some activity through the day. Peaks times are clearly the US one but we have a good EU community here. That's Balmung. Other servers I don't know and there are also EU servers that people probably shift to for the more PvE focused.

Welcome. I suppose the first thing I would say is check out the [RP Linkskell & Free Company Lists for Balmung] for things that suit you. A Linkshell is like an in game chat channel and you can have 8, and a Free Company is like a Guild. Also don't rush, there is a lot of game to play. Compared to other games I have played this one tends to suit one character learning all the classes rather than running many alts. Though I know many people who have many alts still

You will love bees in this game, on shot killers of tanks.

Not so much from a lore perspective as I know I would get some bit wrong, but more from playing one. First this can just be your reason it has powers, so awakening the item is like making a relic. It grows as you grow and are able to tap it more. Try not to make it a "deus ex machina" or the centre of RP plot. Yes run story lines to find out more, involve the item but make those involved the focus. Maybe even have moments when she does not have the item. Give it some weakness, make it about the character and how they need to act, perhaps even give it RP flavoured side effects. Give it a personality, the talking sword, the haughty wand, your nagging mother in the staff. This also helps locking it into what it will and wont do for you. Also consider that the item is just a focus and that the real power is within your character, they just think it is the staff? Have fun with it, use it to enhance your RP and avoid making it the centre of RP.

Or.. you have had the joy of RP partners, and found new ones. So there are likely more in your future. At least that is what I tell myself but that nagging insecurity is always there. Still, there is always tomorrow.

Ok I will bite *gnash gnash* At the moment I would say if I had any niggles it is not having any RP partner(s). It is a dry spell of random RP, which while nice, does not deliver the continuation, depth and sense of adventure you get with partners. I have a FC and LS and people I can RP with that keeps me engaged, but there is that something missing. I can only take so much "chatting" RP, and I crave/write/run RP where stuff happens and you make a difference. having a partner makes this a two way experience, rather than just being a DM role. It's not that bad really, just a niggle until the next marvellous RP partner knocks me over. I never go out looking for them, it just is that spontaneous "click" that happens now and then.

Welcome to FF and Balmung! You should find things quite nice as the RP is quite active and friendly here. Some points that might help.. Free Company is like a Guild (there is a list of some on these and linkshells forums) Linkshell is a custom (invite only) chat group (you can be in up to 8) The game is tailored more to single characters where each character can play every class/job, though Alts are still perfectly viable too Main RP hubs are the Adventure Guilds (taverns) in each city, though Ul'dah is most busy My advice, join one of the Lickshells aimed at RP connections and newcomers and go and RP with a Free Company before joining.
