  1. Here is ilwe's post http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=10111
  2. Generally most are okay in RP but the wider pve crowed can be really rude, I would take no notice of them. In rp I think there are two main aspects above legability. I suffer dyslexia so even as an only English speaker I fail at legibility. Speed, you may be slower to respond having to check your translation. Just let the person know. Often constructing in an editor let's you craft your response while I game telling them it is vpmming ooc. Translations and indium, is going to introduce misunderstanding. So ooc just flag up if you think there is one. This for me us the real challenge and based more in different cultures than languages. There is a whole post on here that ilwr'ran wrote on the whole aspect that is a worthwhile read.
  3. There is a general lul before the patch. But maybe see this as an opportunity? Rather than wait, think about what good would be like for you? Then come up with some things that would increase the opportunity of that happening. Here are a few ideas aimed at rp ... Join a new link shell Poke the person you wished to rp with but never met Give your character something to do like selling roses in the quicksand Look at the FCs and some offer interaction, eg hire Jutat to investigate something ...
  4. It is just a rule of thumb.. by all means polish it up and extend and whatnot. I am not sure the OP is looking for an in-depth guide just what a quick scan can tell you. In the end I RP with most people, even the God Mods .. I just adapt and fit in or exit. I'd suggest the handbook as a good place for "traits"?
  5. Much as I enjoy the fun... This is a free hug zone. So be friends
  6. Real role players ... Do... Walk Have sensible names Have believable look Emote sensibly Talk in " " Engage in interaction Put ooc in ( ) Don't.... Jump everywhere Ride oulabdish mounts and park on people Craft on the bell Think end game gear makes them awesome Spam Change gear every six seconds Change race, look, gear every six seconds
  7. I am liking your new character it is good to see the consistency there. I'm looking forward to getting to know them a bit more now. I wonder where I will bump into her next ?
  8. We just passed the 80 members mark, I'm really proud of the members for keeping this upbeat and positive and helping folks. We have many new folks, shy folks and grumpy folks.. but the LS is a lovely place to be for all. All thanks to our special cake eating program https://thepostculture.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/cake1.gif[/img] and Super-Hero hugs
  9. Super exploding hugs for all, as we is in this together (m.multiplayer.o.r.p.g.)
  10. Yes I have plays the whole range. I think you hit the nail on the head in the OP, in that others will want to play with you or not based on their attitude, though also from an OOC enjoyment point of view. So No 1 - be an enjoyable character to RP with by enabling others to play their characters. guy... Loveable - the rouge the bad person who is really a good person, these are easy enough to play and it can be a light dusting of bad applied. Flawed - your character has a flaw which makes them bad but people can relate to them and will accept them as friends and associates. Redeemed - you were bad but now you are good. So you act good but with flavours of bad and people can hate you for your past. Necessary Evil - they don't like you, their friends don't like you, but they have no option than to deal with you. Become unnecessary and expect them to turn on you. Enemy - here you will be the target of ..well rejection, hunted and death. Don't expect to be with the others as a player, in some aspects you are an NPC to them. Just to reiterate, whatever you play let your self be engaging and enabling of others RP.
  11. I suppose there can be a tendency to think just about the character, and in this you have only your own perception and feelings to consider. I'd probably start with what is the essence of the char and then work out which bits you want to save and which to loose. Then some flubbery fudge can change the character. There are many that could fit and not cause any issues with acceptability. What is more important, and different than just fantasing to a new character is other players and their characters. Any change to the character has to fit with them, and you really have to do it so you don't end up playing the change (oh they are that memory lost guy). What you really need to do is find a way to remove the negative parts in game. You can do this through RP and things that affect the character or things they try to change themselves. Get some counselling, have the "bad" magics syphoned off, have a breakdown.. etc.. Do it so people see it happening over time and they will accept it more.
  12. From the Cos-play game at the Lala tea party
  13. Hey there and welcome. Check out the linkshell section on these forums for LS and FC descriptions. Also feel free to give me a prod for an invite to Hugs & Cake, we have many active folks there who could offer help and advice and are in a similar boat. (link is in my sig)
  14. Put aside the apathy and go RP with some people, you may find that carries you along?
  15. This post is over there
  16. Well I kind of had it too much with game stuff even though there are things to do. So I am RPing, making myself do that more. And also turning my thoughts to writing some scenarios.
