*hugs* Sounds like you have things right. Quite a few play like that. I personally sketch out my characters history, just the main points and then fill in the detail as RP progresses. This locks those details in and over time I get a really rich tapestry of backstory that is relevant to the world and RP. Also I totally get the OOC knowledge vs IC knowledge and actions. I would even go so far as to say I use the OOC knowledge to make the IC dumb char open up RP and lore for others.

There is no one-way, so play what you like, you will always find someone of a similar view. However, if you want a wider set of RP engagements then you have to adopt the lowest common denominator profile, at least the one you show out in open RP. Then, observe how others you are with are RPing and adapt to fit. Also develop an attitude of not caring so much what others consider do's and don'ts, unless you are directly RPing with them. If you are having fun and not harassing people.. go for it. Also consider how much you are compromising your style to fit in with their style and how much are they likewise compromising theirs. For light engagements this is fine, but if you go on for any length or depth the differences become issues. For a more lengthy piece on RP I'd suggest [The Role Play Handbook]

Well done. Quarn and Cutters require some nice tanking. The whole game takes your hand and builds the experience for PvE, even end-game stuff does this (but with deadly consequences). So bypassing and jumping in later content can be a omgomgomg... I am do tank.. eeek! moments.

Wear or don't wear what you like, though IC it does offer the observer something to interpret. Dance naked in the fountains of Ul'dah.. and make an IC statement. Also why is it fine for Males to show skin but a female character is considered a slut? Hypocrisy, projecting RL on IC world, the real IC position?

AST sooo much, the look and also the core link to Nebula, i did not know about the AST and just made Nebbs linked with fate.. so this fits so well. Also dancing outfits!!!

Welcome to the game, RP wise you should fit right in.. so lets get down to getting you connected... Some will probably reply here with offers to RP... well worth following those up. Random walk up RP is most places but the main melting pot is the Quicksand in Ul'dah city. And as you can expect it is all sorts. More structured you have 8 x Linkshells (chat channels) you can join and 1 x Free Company (guild). There is a list on this forum ("Linkshells" at the top) that has listings and descriptions, find some that take you fancy and follow up. Then there are Events posted here, great places to meet folks. Also be active in the forum and you will see others looking for RP. And there you are.. if you ant a nice positive linkshell, come and join Hugs & Cake.. link in my sig.
