My only male character, Canterbury Jack, smells like pancakes and music apparently. What does music even smell like?

Maligna: Creepy bog witch sets things on fire.
-
Ayane: Sakura blossoms (a very subtle perfume she loves), sweat (when training or fighting). Reiko: Her surroundings (being a shinobi, she has learned to mask her scent to avoid detection). Celica: Paper & ink E'lora: Rosewood perfume Maligna: Bog stench, ozone, and ash. *edit: I just realized I was supposed to click that link. Oh well.

You're coming in here accusing everyone with an opinion different from your own of being not only wrong, but also disingenuous for some mysterious, unspecified reason, and then expecting them not to take it "personally." Perhaps you only see me doing it a lot since you make such pretentious and accusatory posts regularly? Pot, meet kettle, and consider your own advice. All well and good when you get defensive and snide at others, but no one else is allowed to retaliate in kind, eh? A typical, transparent ploy to get someone else to "be the bigger person" so you won't have to and can sneak the last word in. You two keep at it and the mods will be having the last word when they lock the thread.

I. Basic Info Characters:Ayane & Reiko Yukimura, Celica Crestwood, Maligna Bogdweller, E'lora Valyre Primary character:Currently Ayane Yukimura Linkshells:None Primary RP linkshell:N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium-Heavy: If you can see my character on Balmung, then I'm usually IC. Views on RP combat and injuries: I like to make up the combat as we go rather than rolling. Rolling is fine though. I don't do permanent injuries, scars, or death unless its a part of my character's plot. Views on IC romance: I'm not good at romance so none of my characters are currently available for it. ERP is strictly off the table as well. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I'm fine with this though most of my characters' families are NPC atm. May open them up later, though. Views on lore: I prefer to keep within lore boundaries. However, speculative things that aren't currently covered by lore are ok so long as they are reasonable and believable to the setting. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): /say is IC whisper or (()) for OOC III. Other Info Country:USA Timezone:EST Contact info:Message me here. I would love to go on a date with Yugiri, for she is the most beautiful of all NPCs.

I'd say the ones that really stick in my craw are those that say "go to our website to submit an applicatio." So you want me to take the time to stop playing a game to go to website? No thank you. If you can't do it in-game, I'm definitely not interested. At the same time, people constantly spamming me with FC invites is just about the most annoying thing short of RMT shouts. I've had to block some people because the send me 3-4 invites every time I play.

Stormblood may change the entire paradigm of RP
Sylentmana replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
Yes. Anyone who thinks otherwise probably hasn't been paying attention. I wasn't under the impression that it was good by any means. After all, conquered people rarely ever have good, but I was unaware of just how bad it really was. -

So @Sounsyy...its pretty bad. Like, really, really bad. -
Reiko: Incompetent samurai fails at her one duty, chases after stolen relic only to have her sword stolen as well. Resorts to punching things.

Roleplayer Uncertainty/Insecurity Theater
Sylentmana replied to Warren Castille's topic in Character Workshop
My biggest worries are "am I being consistent" and "does this fall properly within lore boundaries". Sometimes I worry that there might be some lore I'm breaking without realizing it. -
Stormblood may change the entire paradigm of RP
Sylentmana replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
From my understanding, it really isn't that bad. Your nation is more or less allowed to self-govern itself (likely due to how spread out the Empire is), and you likely benefit from the advances in magiteknology. You just have to (publicly, at least) denounce the "false" deities and cut off interaction with the beast tribes, and possibly pay some manner of tribute to the Garlean Empire. We'll probably find out more about what life under Garlean yoke is like in Stormblood, since we're traveling to locales specifically under their rule. And if/when we move to Garlemald itself in 5.0 or whenever... we'll likely see what life for a normal Garlean citizen might be like. It's gotta suck to some degree for SE to mark its capital with storm clouds, but as you say, we will likely find out eventually. -
Stormblood may change the entire paradigm of RP
Sylentmana replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
I have to wonder what daily life for people under Garlean occupation is like for the average person? Is it really so bad? After all, the advanced level of technology the Garleans have could make many people's lives easier and more comfortable. What about Garlean occupation is so terrible for the average person? -
Do you like to go with or against the stereotypes?
Sylentmana replied to JFrombaugh's topic in RP Discussion
I think stereotypes are useful and I usually adhere to them for familiarity's sake, though I sometimes subvert lesser ones. -
Thanks to Sounsyy, I can actually read the map now! Thank you!

Reiko's drink of choice is most often tea. When she does drink, she gets really drunk very quickly as her alcohol tolerance is very low. She bounces back and forth between angry/confrontational and uncontrollable laughter/talkative. She also loses her concept of personal space and likes to touch people's faces. She has not yet become violent, which is good because her martial skills fly out the window when inebriated. As for my other characters, I haven't really given it any thought.

If you want to go the pact route, you look into him making a pact with a powerful voidsent. You could form a story arc about him fulfilling his patron's agenda or defying it in some way, among other things.
-
Thanks. It doesn't really help me read it, but it does help me see more of the map's beautiful details. I am curious, though. I thought the continent we are on was called Eorzea, but it looks like the script might say Aldenard. I'm a bit confused as to what some of the smaller names are.
-
I love the art of this map. Does anyone know what that large island above and right of the mermaid is? I have a real hard time of reading Eorzean script.
-
And I will fight for that as a valid approach, especially because you accept the "strangeness and fantasy elements of the setting". Well of course. The fantasy of the setting is what makes it fun.

I suppose I don't see why that would be irritating. I think that sort of stuff is just to bring attention to their FC so that people know it's there to attempt to apply for it. It's advertising - and even businesses that are advertising open job slots will still require the potential new employee to come interview and show their skill sets if necessary. I'd be personally more bothered by the FCs that invite anyone and everyone and use their bloated numbers as some sort of a status symbol. "We've got over 500 members!" Yay you. I can understand your perspective. I think the reason it bothers me is because I chafe under the idea of answering to others (outside of my RL job) and allowing another player to 'interview' me for the privilege of joining their FC feels like submitting myself. Perhaps I'm just far too IC at these moments. My characters tend to be fiercely independent.
-
Part of me feels irritated when I see people posting invitations to join a FC then saying "go to our website to submit an application" or "contact an officer for an interview." I can't help but think, if you're the one seeking members, then why should they have to bow to you and what you want? However, I have seen how the wrong member can get in and fleece a FC for everything they've got, so I kind of understand why they have these processes.

Sadly, it seems the majority of RP is still regulated to Balmung, though I have seen growing RP activity on Siren.
