Sounds like how America entered WW2.
-
At least I know it wasn't just me. My poor group probably thought I ditched them.

Meal 1: Ate with my father and his wife's extended family. I had turkey, stuffing, dumplings, mashed potatoes, and fresh corn from their garden. Everything was smothered in delicious gravy. I had a piece of chocolate cake of dessert. Meal 2: I ate with my grandparents. Much of the food was the same but had grandma's special touch so it was better. Also smothered in gravy. Meal 3: Ate with my mother and step-father. They didn't bother cooking as they were too busy planning a winter trip to Florida so we ate at an Asian restaurant called Taste of Asia. I had 8 pieces of unagi, two pieces of salmon sushi, two pieces of tuna sushi, and an order of 6 gyoza. None of it was smothered in gravy.

You know, you're talking to a former soldier there, right? US Army, iirc. Which branch did you serve in? I am pretending nothing, merely giving a lament about the stupidity of war. No, I don't think utopia would dawn if there were no war, but I do think life would be better for it. There is also more than just recognizing the humanity of others. They also need to care. But they won't; they never will. As for my branch of service, I was in the U.S. Navy so technically sailor would be more appropriate than soldier. Despite this, I have never been stationed on a ship. I spent about half of my service in the middle east where I was assigned to help supplement Army and Marine security forces. I've been in Baghdad, Camp Bucca, Bahrain, and a couple weeks in some camp in Kuwait. No I don't think so, but perhaps people would be more reticent to engage in war and perhaps there would be a little less.

Say you're right and they do recognize them as human beings with thoughts, feelings, hopes, families and friends who love them. Doesn't that make it all the more terrible? To recognize someone as human and to kill them anyway for your own benefit is practically the definition of a monster. I can tell you from personal experience as a soldier, if at any point it stops bothering you, then you know that you have a serious problem.

All Turkey was doing is protecting it's airspace (and people) from a foreign power. Like I said, Russia has been doing this for quite some time, and Turkey explicitly warned them after the last incident that they would respond with force if Russia continued with the behavior. Irrelevant to the meaning behind my post. People are being killed because neither side is capable of seeing each other as humans. People are being killed when they should not be. That's all I care about.

SE stated once that they only allow lying down in homes is to make it harder for ERPers to do their dirty business.
-
The problem with these situations is that neither side thinks about the human lives being lost. Instead they treat it like something not human and only care about statistics and results. Meanwhile, innocent people who only wanted to live their lives in peace die because some "leaders" tucked away in their cushy offices and homes gave an order. War is stupid.

They probably want to go with a "realistic" rendering style, which is good and all for weird-looking characters and static objects, but the creation of photo-realistic 3D people that don't hit the Uncanny Valley for a large chunk of your audience is still something that's being hammered out. I didn't mean they should animate the whole thing in a photo-realistic way. I just meant that if they are going to use so much CGI then they should just make an animated movie, stylized of course. I didn't bother to clarify. Sorry about that.
-
I think the most important point that we are neglecting to discuss is that this movie just looks plane cheesy as hell. Not because of a white cast, but because it just looks stupid with a ridiculous abuse of CGI. When you use that much, why not just animate the whole thing?

Cloud is to be in Super Smash Bros!

Great, one of my least favorite FF characters. Was really hoping for Shantae. I thought they said they were looking for characters other than just another swordsman? -
I ordered this one from NewEgg and it runs FFXIV on the highest settings with no problems. Keep in mind, though, that I haven't tested it in highly congested areas like hunts or Idleshire. I would highly recommend it. http://www.asus.com/us/site/g-series/

My copy has shipped from Amazon and they gave me a $10 discount!

Do you have a vita? If you have the save, don't mind buying the digital version you can essentially do that. This way you still have the save info. If not, the Steam version isn't horrible. (it does not like me dual monitoring D:) I was thinking of just picking it up on Steam since I have a working computer now.

Does that mean they will look like they are fighting bare handed rather than with hora and other monk weapons? That sounds cool if that's the case.

Between Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider I'm set for the rest of the year and probably some of the next.:bouncy:

I never saw Young Justice. I was thinking of the Super Boy from the new Teen Titans comic, which suck giant donkey dong, in my opinion.
-
Super Boy never became Superman. He's an entirely different character who is as angsty as he is irrelevant. Incorrect, Superboy in the Golden and Silver Age of comics was in fact the adventures of a young Clark Kent. The Superboy you are referring to is Conner Kent he is actually a clone of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, he was introduced in 1993 (Maybe it was 94 I don't feel like wiki-ing), and as of the New 52 he's the clone of the future psychotic son of Superman and Lois Lane. The more you know. Actually, the one I was thinking of doesn't have any Kriptonian blood in him. He uses some kind of kinetic manipulation ability to simulate super strength. He can't even fly and he's super angsty about people comparing him to Superman and his abilities being a "curse". Oh poor baby. Having superhuman god-like abilities is SOOOO hard.

Any race whose main means of movement involves 'waddling' does not deserve to be taken seriously as a people.
-
Not even once. I've never experienced any RP that made me want to cry. Most of the dramatic stuff just makes me want to roll my eyes. I don't really care for drama, especially when its drama for the sake of drama, which is how most RPers I've met have done it.

c1_6OdRBWds MNRFOiqksNI Fun fact: For like 4+ years my University's anime club had this annual running OP/ED contest. Song, lyrics, animation are -supposed- to be considered... Record of Lodoss War kept winning. So much. Or 2nd place. It was only when I was an alumn or senior year did it lose. Interestingly enough, "Chronicles of the Heroic Knight" is actually season 2 of the series. Ah Deedlit, one of my earliest anime crushes, how I miss thee.

Best Retro Game I Never See Anyone Talk About.
Sylentmana replied to Manari's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Speaking of classic games you never see anyone talking about, does anyone recall this little gem? One of my favorites when I was a kid. I miss it dearly. -
I've been into anime and manga since I was kid (back in the early 90's). I like a lot of the new stuff you can find these days. I'm especially fond of Little Witch Academia (in case that wasn't obvious:D), but I forever hold a special place in my heart for the older stuff, back when it was done without all this fancy computer stuff. I've been re-watching some of the classics: Dragon Ball series, The Slayers, Record of Lodoss War, Neo Genesis Evangelion, etc. There is just something special about the older stuff that fills me with the warm fuzzies.
