  2. Scotlaaaaaaaaand! \o/ Welcome aboard Your character sounds interesting! I'm planning to have one of my characters (Nailah) head north sometime soonish so if you feel like some casual rp HMU ^^
  3. For Nailah, it's definitely people-watching and like, anything alcohol. Especially wine. Yeah. Just give her some wine.
  4. 1. Balmung, to my knowledge, has both the most roleplayers all in all and has the largest EU presence. Check the directory in my signature! 2. The game itself is the best resource for lore. You wont be able to read it section by section, but quests drop a lot of the good stuff you need in order to get into your RP. The only thing you should remember is that you experience the world in quests from the point of view of the Warrior Of Light - So if you are playing from a regular persons perspective not exactly everything the WoL does is plausible. Hopefully the Wiki here on the RPC will be updated with more lorestuff soon. Otherwise there's a thread called "General Lore Questions" where people have asked and gotten answers from the community which you might also be able to learn from. 3. You may want to double-check the timeline (There's one on the official board, simply add the amount of years - presently it'd be 2 - that the game has been active to get the right years.) as Ala Mhigo fell (as far as I remember) 23-ish years ago, so in order to accomplish what you want your character to do they'd have had to be of a certain age around the time of the fall most likely (all depending). It never hurts to make sure at least - It's possibly the first mistake I made with my Ala Mhigan's character design. I play her as being in her start 30's after some adjustments. 4. You picked the right time to come back! They're introducing an apartment system in the next patch which is sounding like it'll be what you're describing - your own instanced room that you can invite people into. You can get something similar if you join an FC that has a room. You definitely want to make sure you're in the level 50+ range and that you have saved up some gil, we don't know the requirements for apartments yet. Right now you have to be max GC rank + level 50 + have 300k sitting to get a room in an FC house, so I'd imagine there's going to be similar if not "harsher" requirements to apartments.
  5. Most European players actually play on Balmung as well. EU servers used to be at the same physical location as the NA servers until very recently, so when the community shaped up after the relaunch people naturally went to where all of the NA'ers also was. There could be some on Gilgamesh as well, I can't really speak for them, but we've got several good guilds for Europeans on Balmung You can see the link to the European directly in my signature. If you decide to transfer over, do remember that you can transfer 8 characters in total for the same price as one as long as they come from the same server.
  6. Voicecom certainly isn't for everyone - I've met several people who actively seek to not know anything about their guildmates socially because it messes their immersion. For my own FC, we use Discord for voicecom purposes as well as a text-based skype group. It's entirely optional - but my FC is very social, so you'll see people chat on skype and on discord throughout the day/night. I also know Balmung has it's own discord server and skype group, but how popular it is I don't know. Perhaps the skype group would be something to look into for you, if it is still going.
  7. I prefer the first one Her eyes alone seem enough to give her an interesting touch.

  12. Thread has been moved to "Making Connections", as it is a better fit for that section. If there's any questions, send me a PM

    Welcome back around
  16. Welcome to Balmung! Feel free to prod me if you want just like a random encounter, I think both Nailah and my conjurer-alt could provide for a nice chatter somewhere. Hope you find everything you're looking for
  17. What I picked up from the stream was that they would "Look into getting the items to EU/NA region" somehow. I don't think they know how. Maybe we will just get them on the mogstation or maybe they will be involved as future event rewards I suppose. I snapped this image of what appears to be a white fat chocobo which I'd very much like yes please thank you.
  18. Welcome aboard! Glad you like the game!
  19. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/287361-Letter-from-the-Producer-LIVE-Part-XXVIII-Q-A-Update-Thread Feel free to discuss the responses. Copying in what the lovely Bayohne has posted. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20. L'nessa: "Miqo'te accidentally triggers rockslide, gets group stuck in cave" "New science: Giving treats to adults after treatment. "Works great!" - Miqo'te Conjurer" Toukta: "Immigrant finds new life with Goblet Company, feel better with yourself after reading this weeks Social Feelgood." Nailah: "Corpse seen falling out of window into gorge from Goblet Company house, owner denies all allegations"
  21. Nailah has the view that killing is a waste of life - And she avoids it when she can, whilst generally also trying to keep her company on the same note. In her eyes, living people are almost always more useful than dead ones A burglar, thief, heck even a murderer can be used in prison-programs where they get forced to do good things, and similar. However she also knows that in some cases it's too much of a utopia to actually carry out, and there are situations where she feels death is justified. Until just a few months ago, she had not killed by her own hands - Though her decisions have previously lead to someone being killed, more or less on her command. It's never something she takes lightly, all other options has to have at least been considered, and in all of the cases where she has killed it has been to ensure her own long-term survival - which is what drives her as a mostly chaotic-neutral character. The most recent one which was by her own hands have left a big impression on her, in some ways she is glad that she has proven that she -can- take a life - and in other ways, she's concerned over how little guilt she feels for these acts.
