  1. Motivation for me is seriously fleeting these days. It's caused me to ponderwonder a bit on it, and I'm curious as to how you guys deal with it when it's not there for you, when you find it lacking in the people you surround yourself with. There's always a hundred things I'd like to do, but I find that when I come across people that are as deflated as a birthday balloon after 2 weeks, it rubs right off on me. I always feel like wanting to try and help/inspire people to roleplay and do things but it's very difficult. Not to be confused with me wanting to force people into it. I've heard from several places that a lot of people are in a pre-expansion slump, affecting FC's and what not. Is that something you guys can recognize in your own companies?
  2. Wouldn't mind bumping into you sometime ^^
  3. - How does your character deal with killing? Strangely Nailah always seems to do things like that with a calm head on her shoulders. She has issued several kill orders, and I think the fact that she's had other people do it for her has spared her in part from some of the grimness. However when she took a life by her own hands, she never reacted much to it - it was in self defense, and more of a reaction than anything. She is at heart chaotic neutral, and survival is her main motivation - so the justifications of self defense appears to be enough to keep it from haunting her. - How did your character feel after his/her first kill? I'm not entirely sure she felt anything, if I am honest. She does not to the present day feel guilt, if anything emotions of disgust may be targeted at the memory of how it felt to sink a dagger into someone else. - Does your character mull over it later on? (Exe. The nightmares) Not as per se. With some of her kill orders, she may worry that it's getting traced back to her. She has nightmares - but they are not about the actions she's done against others.
  4. Not everyone, but a whole lot does. It's a great way to save information about your character and you can easily link it to people when it comes to descriptions and so on.
  5. Welcome! Check out The European Directory - It may be useful for getting some contacts when you land on Balmung
  6. It was a great event! Even if I now have a very demoralized Lorelei to cheer up.. Poor guy.
  7. My characters are all based in Ul'dah, but I frequently get to other parts of the world too. I've been helping out with JH-RP's seaside bar events north of Costa, and sometimes my RP takes me to Limsa for example, where I was just yesterday on an alt. I actually also frequently see RP going on in Gridania, when I have been questing around the adventurers guild there's usually always rp'ers in there. I can't help but feel that this might just come down to people never being in the right place at the right time, but run about missing each other. But honestly I don't really see what the problem is with having one city state that is popular, from what I can see there's a number of events in other places, like lavender beds/camp bronze lake. There's also FC's that base themselves off of gridania and limsa. I don't really understand why there's such a strong need to have something going on in a different place just because one place is too popular or too used, I get that you can get sick of being constantly in one place but you can remedy that by taking your character on a trip (One of the reasons why I love not having a house in Mists is that going to the beach -always- seems exotic when it's not right outside your door). Get a few FC mates/Friends involved, find a reason. Not to mention that Limsa actually was once far more popular, at least from my view, around six or so months after launch - I remember that because my FC took a turn where Ul'dah was the better IC option for it to be in, and Ul'dah was very hard to find RP in at any point in the day/night at that time. We may just have been unlucky, I suppose. And so what if everyone suddenly flocks to Limsa? You'll just have the Quicksand in Limsa, and that wont really change the fact that people like to stand about and talk. If you need peace and quiet, Ul'dah has a second tavern up at the airship, Limsa has the missing member and I'm sure Gridania has a couple of nooks where people don't usually go. But even more so, the world is riddled with taverns and awesome RP spots. I'm going to continue to RP my characters where it makes sense for them to be, where-ever that may be. They can all travel with short notice, something I as a player have made sure of because I like to be able to jump on opportunities.
  8. The GM's here are amazing! I saw the picture on tumblr and was really amazed. It sure isn't all games that have this level of support And happy belated birthday Dogberry! ^^
  9. ^ I'm curious, but I'm not sure what all you're looking for, so I don't know if I fit the bill or if its something I feel comfortable whipping up. Though it sounds like someone might have you covered already. ( Depending on what you're looking for, I did Black Sun Vanguard's Banner / Logo / image editing stuff for our website: http://blacksunvanguard.boards.net/ ) I have someone on the case yeah, and sorry for the lack of info - I am not super good with the words for this kind of thing (In my head a logo and a banner are different, but.. Maybe they are not?), but I was able to give the person on it an example of what I meant
  10. Contrary to popular belief, Nailah's name has nothing to do with nails. So it's Nai-Lah with pressure on the L. For my two tribal cats, it's Lee-MaKa (L'maqa) and Lee-Ness-Ah (L'nessa).
  11. Yep. Not here, but yep. I'm very aware of it, but I try not to let it get to me.
  12. Holy sweet- *bookmarks* *throws likes at* *enters ferret-chock from information overload*
  13. Thank you for attending everyone! It was great to see such a good turnout
  14. Has it ever been "decided" what worth gil holds against real life currency? I have genuinely no idea is 100 gil would be like $/£/€100 if not more, or if it's comparable to pennies. Perhaps it's one of those things that is mostly overlooked for the sake of keeping things simple but I am looking at the Wine Tasting event for example and I want to know how expensive things should be deemed by my character. Also, while we're here.... how much would you suggest an inn room would cost for the night(in Ul'dah if it matters) along with perhaps a simple meal? Waaaaaaaaaaaaay back I went to a lot of the in game merchants and I tried to calculate, what a meal was to put together, drinks etc. To try and find out what a person might need in gil per day to survive comfortably. I then held that up against the dollar and my native currency and I somehow got to the conclusion that 5 gil = 1$ I'm not a big maths genius and my methods are a bit flawed since npcs tend to be biased in such a way that higher level item = higher cost because of the levelling curve and how you earn more and more gil naturally as you level up. With that in hand, I have done lots and lots of googling to find out barprices, rents for a room etc. Tonight I did it for the wine/dine event as well. In my FC we decided to stick with that conversion rate, it's made the financial part of RP easier to handle - I can directly say, your character earns around this much per week and they can adjust - for example when they're punished for breaking rules and lose gil as a result, they can for example run around asking people for food because they don't have gil enough to buy any. Anyways. A full three course meal (in like, a semi good restaurant) I think was around 200 gil, more expensive if you add alcohol, and rooms could be from 500 and up.. Following that logic. The lower the cost the shabbier condition? But I reckon a person could survive, if they had a regular place rented and made all of their meals themselves, on 1000 gil at week. And I mean survive, not live comfortably, there. .. I hope it makes sense and can help you some. I wouldn't expect many others to embrace the same thing as us, but its a place to start I guess.
  15. Hi there. My dearest FC would like to have a little logo we can use for our posts and our website. I am wondering if any of you here have those amazing abilities, or knows someone who does? We'd be willing to pay a bit, though I'll need to know an estimated prize-range. Cheers!
  16. If you took someone like me and put me in Eorzea, I'd (probably) be dead tomorrow. I have a version of autism with sensory issues (Neurological stuff), which has spawned panic disorder (Early onset, really severe) and periodic stress & depression. I've been through intensive theraphy (living right next to a facility) for five years to get where I am and whilst I am now not plagued by moodswings and my panic attacks have dropped from 3-4/week to 1-2 per 3-4 months, it's still pretty bad and it's fucking up every part of my life on a regular basis. It's not cute or quirky. (Note, not trying to woe-is-me, I just want to illustrate how severe stuff like this can be.) I would not ever like to see anyone try to look at is as a cute little character quirk, or something that can resolved in two weeks of plot. There's also a fair share of times where it seems like something people can turn on/off for their characters whenever convenient. If your character would survive in Eorzea with a mental illness (I'm not saying impossible, but there's a lot more violence and things that wants to eat you. Being disturbed mentally would no doubt screw with your ability to survive) then it would compromise a lot of the good experiences as well. If you rp as a character that has panic disorder, that means enrolling a panic attack when it's not relevant or convinient, like at a regular bar night or maybe when your character is having the time of their life. Stuff like this always looms in the background. People can do what they want with their characters, but romanticizing and making these things seem like something you shouldn't take serious you may end harming someone that suffers from this irl. My own sister refers to my autism as "Assburgers", something she's learnt off popculture and the internet - where rude/intolerable behavior is justified with aspergers syndrome. That's not fun for me. I don't strive to be a rude person irl, but sometimes I end up saying things with no filter. I don't think about it until I see peoples reactions, and there's absolutely nothing fun about it. I also did not mean to have a panic attack in that bus on the way home, leading to me passing out and an ambulance getting called - but it did. So do your homework really thoroughly and think it through before you make it a thing. Smaller bursts of mental disruption, like in response to tragic events, can be much more workable and easier to manage - and get over with the RP. Nailah's went paranoid/scaredypantsy for a brief amount of time following three attempts on her life, leading to her putting up traps inside Kindred's house that'd go off if there were any nightly invaders (fortunately no one else was caught in them either!) and she voluntarily walked about with a bodyguard for a while.

Welcome to the RPC! Unfortunately I do not know of any RP groups on Sargatanas But you never know, there might be
  18. You know that compulsion you can have to go look in the fridge? You know there's nothing in it you want, but you check anyways. So your character is walking to the pantry.. 1. What do they hope to find? 2. What do they find? 3. What would they make for breakfast/lunch/dinner? 4. How do they get their groceries in? 5. Do they have a secret treat stash? For Nailah: 1. She'd hope to find stuff enough to make an easy sandwich, or some of her favorite snacks - Chocolate. She likes when things are convenient. 2. Probably some bread, but not quite the toppings she had hoped for. The pantry is shared with the rest of the company as it is in their house, so it can be vast and at the same time not have much. 3. Nailah is rather spoiled - in the company they have a couple of chefs that prepare food throughout the day. She can't cook well in a kitchen herself, and left to her own devices she might just survive on bread and cheese for all three meals of the day. It should be noted that she does exercise to keep herself relatively fit, as her eating/drinking habits are sub-par. 4. She aids the grocery shopping by making sure certain things get delivered directly to the house several times a week. If she wants anything extra or exotic, she'd hit the market in Ul'dah. 5. No, but she should probably establish one somewhere.
  19. I haven't done caps for ages. But great stuff if people want to poet their alt jobs up before expan I guess ^^
  20. Tumblr is a blogging site. You have your own page where you can write blog entries (Can be text, video, pictures, ect). Then, if people like the entry they can click a heartshaped like button. They can also choose to re-blog it, which means that your entry gets shown on their page, and your page may be followed by different people than the original, who can then reblog it to their followers.. And so on. So something you write there has the potential to spread really far in no-time. You can get a tumblr app on your iphone im pretty sure, but it's also a website Oh, also - people can freely follow and unfollow these blogs, it's not like where you have a friends-list where you approve who gets to see your blog and so on. It's all very public. I'm still super new to it, but that's how I understand it anyhow. Some peoples blogs can be really impressive, and there's a lot of artists on there too.
