  1. Welcome! Feel free to check out the EU directory, you can find a link for it in my signature.
  2. You can right click on your character's name on the selection screen, then select save appearance (or something like that), then you open a new character creation and load the one you just saved. Click on height and you can see your number. If your slots are full on balmung, just select a new server, it's just to get into creation
  3. The only times there's proper queues and major disturbances on the servers would be at the launch of expansions and such. In the day-to-day, on Balmung, you might sit in queue for a couple of minutes but even that seems rare-ish. Personally I always use the cancel and try again trick, which makes the queue disappear sometimes.
  4. I have a past RPing as a villainous character for a main, in a different game mind, some years back - My biggest problem that I faced back then was that people would not respect that this character was your main, and not just something to be killed off in a random little plot and not to be killed off by every knight in shining armor they met. I'd get accused of being OP quite a bit because of this. I should mention I generally speaking am pro-letting characters die if they REALLY can't get out of their pickle - my only reservation these days is for Nailah, due to her position as an FC leader. The character did meet her end - but after 1½ years, I had gradually and carefully planned out a sliding scale for her where she would, as many others in that universe, be grabbed and dragged deeper into the insanity her magics brought on - This having her make more mistakes, even big ones, and eventually that lead to her demise. In her demise was some of the people who had been chasing her all this time, and one of the mains on the good side also died during it. Something I look back to as a good memory, but honestly I could have gone without the accusations and demands that I readily let my main character kill. Obviously, times have changed and this could be not so much of a problem here, but I wouldn't rule it out as something couldn't happen here. I suppose to some people good /always/ wins over evil. These days, I tend to keep my evil to my alts, and even then they are highly disposable npc's simply meant for one plot arch, rather than as a persistent character. If I were you, I'd start the character off among people that you know well oocly, where you can be certain of good communication. To the rest of the ooc world, I'd be cautious about revealing the true nature of the character - and to that end, it might also be more exiting for them to get to find out what makes your villain tick through IC interaction.
  5. We're quite happy and settled on Balmung. I've been on a small RP server before in a different game, and though it has it's charms, it also has some drawbacks that I wouldn't want to see anywhere else. We're (kinrp) not planning on moving anywhere, despite being EU people on an NA server, and I don't know of anyone save a handful that are actually contemplating moving to an EU server once the physical servers gets moved to Europa. Wish you the best of luck with trying, though it's going to be an uphill battle. Honestly as I see it, Balmung and even Gilgamesh has something unique when it comes to mixing rpers from different timezones and that, which really makes the communities feel enormous, even if Gilgamesh has a smaller amount of people. Griefing will always exist everywhere. I haven't experienced any on Balmung as of recent, but I think that may be related to my pastures moving more into the housing zones. About a year ago or so it was pretty bad. I've also heard of recent griefing. But in general the people on Balmung seem more tolerant these days, and I've even talked with people who came to Balmung because they knew the RP'ers were there - Not because they wanted to RP themselves, but because RP'ers can contribute to a more mature/calm/awesome community on a server overall.
  6. Whew, what a month it has been! We have accepted 8 new people into our pack, bringing us to a near-record-breaking 38 weekly active players. We have so many exciting things planned, and recently we've had 2-3 events per week within the guild, intermixed with more social themed RP. And who knows, maybe we'll get an idea for something bigger sometime soon! Due to our size, the recruitment process has toughened up a bit - So, if you wish to join us, convince us thoroughly on the app and it'll improve your chances. At any rate, we all hope to see you out there in the great world of RP - Our doors are always open for a drop-by!
  7. I have panic disorder with some nasty triggers in the medical world, and.. For the first time in around 11 years, I made it to the dentist today. I was a mess, but they managed to take an xray, and I'm now being referred to the local hospital where I will have a treatment under general anesthesia that's going to fix all of my bad teeth and remove those that can't be saved. So I can have a fresh start. For once I dare hope that I might be able to beat the anxiety. So by the looks of it in about three months or so I will be able to picture of myself smiling, with no nagging toothache.
  8. They finally got around to making the TP bar visible for all party members That is going to be so neat.
  9. I got ISFJ (Introvert 56%, Sensing (1%), Feeling (22%), Judging 56%) Nailah got ESFP (Extravert 50% , Sensing 25% , Feeling 6%, Perceiving 16%) Both are pretty spot on.
  10. [Modhat on] Due to this thread being almost a year old and the original commentary relation the situation to the time, I am going ahead and locking this thread. I would encourage that a new thread is made for the subject if there is a desire for such still to be discussed. Cheers! [Modhat off]
  11. Typically speaking I don't ever correct peoples grammar, because you never know how they will take it or even if they can help it - Maybe they have some variety of dyslexia or other difficulties. Despite being fluent in English, it isn't my native tongue and I still make mistakes - and the mistakes that I make are usually a habit (I often misspell the same words because the misspelling looks "right" to me) so even if I was corrected it wouldn't really do much. I reckon at the end of the day I would get annoyed if I was corrected a lot, even if it was polite and well meaning.
  12. The big problem I have encountered with trying to figure this out is that things aren't priced for what they are.. Like orange juice, but priced for what they're used in and what level. E.g crafting materials bought from a vendor (for example for cooking) is more expensive when the material is a used in a higher level recipe. A long time ago I did a brave attempt at trying to figure it out with my limited maths skills (I'm not savvy with numbers), and within my FC we eventually decided to accept the notion that 1 US dollar would equate to about 5 gil, and then we have used that to price out things on our bar's menu, wages and that sort of stuff. It's probably no where near the correct conversion, but it has helped our RP a bunch because our FC has a good deal to do with the economy aspect as well. I would never ever just plain take the MB economy or my own economy into consideration for IC stuff, and generally speaking I try to keep actual real gil out of my RP because it messes so much with the balance. My character would never have 20 million, but I have ended up having that amount.
  13. Personally very guilty of spending a big chunk of my time rping with my FC, which to a good extend comes from the fact that my main leads it, and it takes a lot of time to get around to everyone. But I do RP with people outside of my fc, especially on my alts which are not so bogged down if you would. I do come with the downside that I am horrible at asking people for RP, and I am also not good at picking up on vague requests, so a lot of the times it's because people requested it - which I always follow up on, even if I am super busy at times. And I am always up for getting to know new people
  14. Welcome to the RPC!
  15. I used to have like a back-up mmorpg I'd derp about in for no reason, but with FFXIV I am so satisfied with what we're getting that I haven't felt the urge to play anything else at the same time. There also isn't really any mmorpg's out there I find interesting, I've tried most of the bigger titles at some point and they all have some things I just can't ignore that bugs me.
  16. Two of my three active rp characters can use aetherytes for traveling, but both characters aren't as good as one another with it. My miqo'te alt is able to go farther, but less often, where as Nailah does well with shorter distances and she will recover from them faster. I follow the lore that the lore team has given on it. However in most cases, I prefer not using them at all, in favor of getting the walk/talk RP in as well - which can be really fun and enriching, and it contributes to a sense of the world feeling bigger to me. Most of the times where I end up using the aetherytes icly, it's because it's getting late/time is running out oocly. I generally do not take well to people who just teleport in front of my eyes in RP, which is also why I make a point out of making sure people who are IC around me can't see me when I do an OOC teleport after ended RP.
  17. Balmung was open as of 10:35 ish AM british time. I managed to create a character. Probably wont last, good luck!
  18. KinRP is still going strong! We currently sit at around 30 active members (measured on weekly activity) and we have events every week with different flavors. And last but not least, we look forward to kicking JH-RP's butt in dodgeball in the nearest future!
