  1. Updating my sign-up, I am going to be dragging along Rythiel Rothmoore to represent The Kindred.
  2. Scandinavia loves you back! Welcome back Hope you'll continue to have fun here.
  3. I'm waiting for the "Haha it was just for fun guys, it's actually jumping." I don't trust Yoshi-P anymore.. *squint*
  4. "Hey baby, wanna kill all humans?" Well I playes a male who would open with pickup lines, so over the top that he actually got a lot of RP! Have your thing.. and work it baby! Well, obviously that can be a thing, but then one should at least be aware that some people might walk away, or ones intentions might be misunderstood ^^ At least in the quicksand
  5. My character does not eat toast. #Rebel5ever She'd be more inclined to go for a whole bun or a small loaf of bread, if it's fresh just on it's own. If less fresh she'd probably find something to dip it in, like soup.
  6. One that I frequently use in the QS/taverns >Walk up to bannister/bar, near someone else you think might be a roleplayer. Checking search info help > Emote/say something about how busy/quiet it is currently/today/tonight (I try not to mention time because I get it wrong and then people look at me funny.) > Person you are close to now has an opportunity to reply. > If that happens, continue to talk about the weather, local politics, inquire why people are here, and don't forget to do a delayed stylish introduction because your character totally forgot their manners. "I'm Bob, by the by". You should now be able to just keep the conversation going. If casual conversation stalls, keep on asking questions about the other person, most people love talking about themselves icly too. I mean this in a positive way. Or alternatively >Stand about at the bar/banister/whatever has your characters legs by magnetic force > Notice someone walk up next to you, but they are silent > Contemplate life > Emote a casual nod of acknowledgement, a gentle greeting or similar. It's like the "Yes I want to RP" to the silent "Hey do you want to RP" the person (probably) made by walking up next to you. > The person now has a chance to reply! > Now talk about the weather. You could adapt this to other situations as well. It's all about presenting people with an opportunity to respond to you. Edit: Forgot to say, whatever you do, do not drop a pick up line within the first 5 minutes of interaction.
  7. I like the new rules. I used to be a moderator on a huge forum in the past and it's no easy job at all, having clear rules really go a long way. The only thing I'm not really thrilled about is your reluctance to delete posts - I agree it's not something that should be used left right and center, but I have been involved in a flaming incident where the attackers posts did not get deleted afterwards. When it comes to flaming, I don't think it's a great idea to leave the posts visible because it empowers and gives an incentive to do these things even more, in my opinion. People might be willing to risk it more if they know that at least the posts wont get removed. And for me, I'm always worried that someone is going to re-find the thread and pass judgement on me/my fc based on what the attacker said in those posts (which I obviously disagree with.). I don't want to discuss the moderator action in my incident here so I'm trying to make it a bit unspecific, but I felt like I had to mention where those concerns came from. I hope that is okay. Is that something you've thought about, or has it changed in any way with these new rules?
  8. Welcome aboard! I hope you'll have fun here
  9. Hellow! Feel free to sign Nailah up as a bouncer/greeter. I should be able to do most days bar 16/5 because I have an event myself there ^^
  10. Knock Knock! Who's there? Disco! Disco who? Disconnect! *drops mic*
  11. I really hope they change it so you can choose the horns separately, but I doubt they're going to do anything that radical so close to the launch of the expansion. I suppose it all depends on how difficult it'll be to change.
  12. My little pony. Even the Equestria girls adaptation. I do not associate with the fandom though. Chocolate, sausage rolls, most things I'm not supposed to eat.. The band H.I.M which were the target of my teenage crush.

    Hello

    Welcome to the RPC
  14. Heya! There's an event which I am a part of the planning in coming up on the 16th of may. I don't know your hours but if you can be around during the EU primetime, let me know and we'll have look at what needs done during the event Cheers.
  15. 1. How do you address posting order and initiative in freeform mass combat? Who goes first, and how often can they attack? - The first hostile action starts it off, if that persons emote is going to effect more than one person, they would let the two people respond and counter before continuing. It makes for slow rounds, and in most of the events I have seen people tend to lock down 1vs1 even in mass fights as some sort of unspoken agreement. If someone was to fall which frees up a person, then they can jump onto someone else and the same thing happens where people adjust to let the third person emote. As to how often, generally speaking you do one attack per emote, but you can sometimes squeeze in two by stating what your character would follow up with should something go through - I did this a lot when I roleplayed as a mage in a past game, as I consider it good costum to emote for the act of charging up your spell/saying the spell out loud which counts as something your opponent can interrupt and cause the spell to fail. If a spell is very strong or complex, I would usually spend an entire turn on it (this usually has the side-effect of your character being completely open to bad stuff happening). 2. In situations where one group is outnumbered, does the other group allow them to have an edge in terms of how often they can attack and defend themselves for fairness' sake, or does the larger group press the weight of numbers? - Not as for what I have seen. I think something that is a bit characteristic for freeform fights is that they're not really fair, and there's no emphasis on making them fair. If you are outnumbered, you have a disadvantage unless your characters strong side is dealing with more than one person. Remembering that people can end up leaving their characters open to dirty tricks and simple basic moves, as well as remembering your sorroundings can help turn the tide in a disadvantageous battle. 3. How do you handle disparities in character strength? The Powerlevel thread shows that some characters consider themselves strong enough to take on much larger groups. Do you take these disparities into account when trying to resolve a mass combat? - Both yes and no. For planned events, I tend to allow my NPC's (I usually have them played by people) to ramp up their power if I can see the fight as being extremely out of balance to the end where they would not stay alive for long. Fights sometimes happen where you can't plan this out, and explanations of how powerful things are comes down to emotes and good ooc communication. OOC communication is very vital in these situations. My Nailah was in a fight a couple of days ago, she's not at all strong or experienced and literally got caught in the middle of it with no other choice. So you could say she was much weaker than the rest, and that was reflected in her emotes - more uncertainty, slowness and bad judgementcalls. When her aether was as spent as she felt she could let it, she resorted to throwing rocks Pebbles at the assiliants which were notably clad in plate, she figured that she might as well try to distract them. Which in the end caused her to be distracted, she was snuck up on and stabbed in the leg and left the fight as the only "good-sided" person being carried off half-concious. Meanwhile I did keep people informed on any elaborations to questions I got about her attacks etc. 4. Do you assign individuals to specific targets to the best of your ability, or do you prefer a more chaotic melee in which it's possible for everyone to strike everyone else? - I have never experienced anyone getting assigned outside of training fights. I vastly prefer chaos, and absolutely should people be able to strike everyone. 5. Friendly fire: It happens, and it's unfortunate, but how do you involve accidental strikes on someone friendly when there are very few accidents in freeform? - Sometimes you can end up having it happen because you send something out just before someone else does, which puts them in the way of whatever you were doing. How that is handled is by the person I for example were trying to hit states that this person got in the way, and the person would then have to react to it - usually they get hit (there may be other ways of resolving this) I remember one notable encounter in a past game of mine where friendly fire caused an allies upper back to get covered by one big nasty burn wound. 6. Do you feel some of the difficulties in addressing the above have a cooling effect on this kind of combat RP? If so, how can they be corrected? - I think that the difficulties in it makes freeform combat difficult to learn how to master, I know I was frustrated with my characters losing because I simply did not fully understand the extend of the freedom in the system back when I was a rookie. I'd make mistakes that I didn't think my characters would make, and there's just not really any way of getting around that I feel. Some of them, especially with power and strength and that, can lead to a lot of ooc drama which is the #1 reason I hear people list when they do not use freeform, simply that it is too dramatic. I make it a point to ensure that people in my own FC knows how to use the system, because we run all of our combat events with it - I find that by spending some time to ensure everyone knows and are confident with it, we do not have any drama related to fights using this system at all. However this is hard to achieve when you're thinking of an entire community. *puts two gil in a hat* Also, disclaimer, I write from my experiences so take it as suggestions as to how things are done and not the one true way.
  16. I've always worked from the belief that the person that knows the most about a character is the player who plays it, and that you should never ever ever assume anything about anyone elses character. This includes thinking your character is stronger than anyone elses, actually I'd say that it's more "healthy" to assume the opposite because it gears you up mentally for having to look at more opportunities in fights and think outside of the box. Even the strongest of characters can be beaten with simple tricks, especially because they tend to be oh so strong and mighty that they forget the basics. But by this logic as well, I never straight up assume that a character is OP until severely proven otherwise. I've played alongside people that has had really strong characters, but the characters have still been in balance because they have a straight up achillies heel - but something they quite naturally didn't want to reveal what was oocly, because you can bet your butt it'd be a piece of information that would be abused. They faced a lot of "Omg your character is too strong" grief because they didn't want to reveal what the weakness was, people never straight up took their word for it to proceed to try and figure it out icly by applying different strategies. If someone is straight up playing an OP demigod that can't be beaten, literally never takes any hits and generally speaking is the reason why freeform emotefights have a bad reputation, I'll likely abort the roleplay and pretend it never happened. I don't see much point in trying to rationalize and reason with the player at that point. But again, it needs to be thoroughly proven before I get to that conclusion.
  17. Look at this girl: Her name is L'nessa. Why is she sad? Well, my usually cheery happy-go-lucky seeker has gotten her into some trouble. That trouble, is a debt. And if it wasn't bad enough, for each day that passes the debt gets worse. Ack! Therefore, she is out there looking for work. She'll do almost anything as long as it makes her some gil - She's a somewhat skilled huntress and a novice conjurer. Don't expect her to save your life, but if you break your leg, she can probably make it less broken! Yay! I am looking for connections that can provide her with some small jobs, almost anything will do. Be it stuff as a courier or things that relate to her conjurer abilities. She's a neutral and plyable character, and when I play her most things are entirely improvised. I'm an EU player but I have a tendency to stay up until the wee hours of the morning whenever I am able (That is, whenever my energydrinks let me.), so if you're interested and can roleplay at a time that's roughly compatible then feel free to reach out and poke me, when I am online I am usually up for RP (I may be on one of my other two characters, mind). If you see her about, feel free to walk up as well!
  18. I spend way way way too much time on youtube, and I have many subscriptions going on - recently I've gotten curious on what other people are subscribing to, in the eternal quest to find more awesome stuff I can watch whilst doing "slightly" boring things like fate-grinding. So, RPC. What do you watch on youtube? Who are your favorite youtubers? Personally, the youtubers I like the most are AgentXPQ who runs a show called "Tales of mere experience" and John & Hank Greene that have (together and seperate) a heap of channels like crash course, mental floss, vlogbrothers & SciShow. Of my favorite channels, we go to the cooking department because whilst being a picky/fussy eater, I really love to watch cooking stuff. And though there are many, there are none quite like Sorted Food which I've been stalking for about a year now. They are a bunch of awesome dudes, mixing amazing food (and the love of food) with fun and insightful inputs. This is one of my favorite videos from them: j1RQcehpaP0
  19. I just got home from my brothers confirmation. I am tired and fat. We had meringue cakes, almond-vanilla cookies, chocolate chip cookies, homemade icecream with vanilla and chocolate pieces.. And then we had this glorious, glorious thing.. Brownies and strawberries. Soft and almost liquid on the inside. Topped with confectioners sugar.
