  1. Welcome back! Its splendid to hear that you are giving Mateus a shot, the population is indeed a deal smaller and there are plenty of houses for those with slightly heavier pockets. Feel free to give me a shout anytime, especially if you require the services of a Brass Blade in Ul'dah!
  2. Unfortunately my own experience with that particular server is limited. I myself am a tad biased *tips hat at his own server* but I would invite you to make characters on all of your potential sources and try reaching out through /shout to see if you locate any RPers. If you'd like to chat on Mateus sometime, feel free to whisper me or if you're beginning in Ul'dah chances are high I'll literally walk right by you since that's my turf!
  3. Welcome to the RPC! I'm a bit of a fresh face myself once more having been gone for some time. I did note your Elezen page but unfortunately my expertise with the character creation is a tad limited! So what server will you be gracing with your presence, or do you remain undecided? If you happened to miss the Balmung transferrable period, might I suggest Mateus? We have something of a movement going there and it is really starting to pick up steam these days! Feel free to throw me a Private Message if you need any sort of assistance, and I'll be sure to respond in the timeliest manner possible.
  4. Might I recommend one small quality of life modification for your fellow players? When you posted your macro as such: I would personally recommend that you move the ((Battle Litany)) piece to the beginning of the statement. That way the RP text flavor becomes more optional but individuals can still note the quick bit of information that is considered more important to most players. I use these as well, but only for skills where one might regularly expect to see a notification though. The two prime examples that come to mind are Provoke and Hallowed Ground. /ac "Provoke" /p ((Provoke)) "Oh come now , did I frighten ye so badly?!" /micon "Provoke" /ac "Hallowed Ground" /p ((Hallowed Ground)) "Don't worry yerselves about me lads, I've got a bit of fight left in me!" /micon "Hallowed Ground"
  5. I once went by the name Riordyn Ashentyr, and was a regular on here a few years past right up until the needs of the military saw fit to plop me down in the middle of a dessert... I mean desert cause the Air Force doesn't like fat kids. Sorry, quite the difference in those two words! I digress however! The meaning of this post is simply to say hello once more and break the metaphorical ice. I took the liberty of tossing my old greeting message up since little has changed of me since my disappearance... ... Of quick note however, while I do have a character on Balmung by the name of Turtle Sage you can feel free to shout out to if you notice him, I've already transferred someone else (a Roe named Painted Mountain if you hadn't guessed) to Mateus to assist with the laying of the RP Foundation there - and thus the majority of my time will be spent as such. I simply can not stand idly by and watch the RP lifeblood of this beautiful game congeal under the heavy handed action of SE that has so isolated those who would follow behind us. *locks away the soapbox* So if you're ever in the neighborhood, feel free to drop a /wave or something!
  6. Good [insert time of day here] folks! The name is Ezraek, but feel free to call me Ez... all the ladies do... *pause for obligatory ba-dum-psh* Seriously though, its not to meet all y'all! I'm not new to FF14 by any stretch, and while I have been around the Balmung server for a long time - soaking in the stories of others in open chat - I never actually participated myself. I used to do quite a bit of forum-based RP on sites like World of Tur and several smaller Proboards ones that inevitably closed due to lack of inactivity or administrators disappearing without a word. At any rate, the way I see it, it's about time I immerse myself in the lore-rich world of RP for a game that easily makes my list for favorite games of all time. Coming off a long break in RP though, so do be gentle with me! So what all commands are used for RP? I see people using one to describe what their character is doing in an emote fashion and I feel like that will be critical for "properly formatted" RP structure. Also, if there is someone the Balmung server doesn't mind being pestered to death with questions can we be friends? I don't have a background or anything set up for my character yet, but once I'm more concrete on the lore it is the very first thing on my to-do list!
  7. --MMORPG background --RP experience --Character ideas/info --How did you learn about the coalition? --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) ... Well that was fun, rebels unite anyone? Lets see, is there anything to truly worth noting about me? Nope, I got nothing. On to the important stuff! I'm relatively new to the whole FF lore. I say only relatively because I did play a few of the games as a kid, though I haven't the slight clue which ones - minus FFVII - and who wants to spark the flames of that war in their introduction? I've been reading everything under the sun that I can find on FFXIV though, and finally got a character concept all squared off that I believe doesn't fall along the lines of a "Second oldest son of Bahamut who has been re-incarnated as a man with horns" insanity when it comes to the whole lore-bend/break debate. Not sure what else I have to say. Obviously you can call me Armel... um... *fingersnap* oh yeah! Currently I have an application going to see about joining Aeon, so while I'm not really up for FC suggestions at the time - the power of positive thinking and all! - I'm open to ideas for linkshells to fill up the eight blank spots that remind me of how painfully new to Balmung I am, coming from Siren. In case you'll need to know the man behind the mask before making those calls, without further adieu *drumroll* I present what I am affectionately referring to as my 'blurb' of Armel. **************************************************** Armel, unlike many, is an Ishgardian of no noble blood. His family line of Winterson - easily distinguished by their greyed hair and piercing blue eyes, which they claim are signs that they are blessed by Halone with her wisdom and prowess - are however, amongst the most devout followers of the guardian deity to their citystate. It is a claim that can hardly be refuted, for from their lineage have sprung some of the greatest Dragoons to have ever served. Those born on the 1st Month - the month devoted to Halone - and the 5th Day - the day devoted to Halone - are said to be as one of three blessed Spears of Halone amongst their kin. Armel, the fourth Winterson to have been born upon this day, was expected to be as those before him - a precocious prodigy. However, the fates have not been so kind, and he has thus far proven to be little more than a let-down when compared to the lofty expectation that rests upon him. Afraid of his own short-comings, he has taken little more than his spear and armor, and left Ishgard, swearing an oath to himself and Halone that he would never return until he was ready to write his own name into the annals.
  8. I had to wait three days, and then it just *bling* was accessible. Had to pay eighteen dollars in the Mog Station... but just not having to deal with the gil sellers from Siren made that completely worth it.
  9. Riordyn had been passing through Gridania, seeking to gather a few bits of gossip and some herbs before heading back to the den. Passing a chatting group who seemed consumed in their papers, he browsed the article, laughed, and shook his head. "Ah, to judge an entity by the actions of a mere few. Whiny, ignorant, and dramatic to a fault. Well, I guess that is what sells papers," he mused quietly.
  10. Hey, I wanted to apologize for the time it took me to reply to your questions, and I hope all is well overseas in whatever part of the world you find yourself!
  11. Is everything all right, haven't heard from you in a while. Hope all is well!
  12. There is a link in the top called Wiki. It might take a little bit to understand how it works, but it is an amazing resource.
  13. Interesting indeed! Thankfully Riordyn doesn't have to worry about this, since he has his own name that he gave himself. But it would be interesting to know for the implications behind RP'ing with more traditional Keeper Males.
  14. This is the reason I only play SMN DPS. Dat Battle-rez.
  15. I have honestly no idea because as I said, I'm new to rp on this game, so I don't know what to expect... but I would like to find a FC which also does a bit of content, so that we could also do some dungeon/raids together. That's all I know as for the server transfer, I was able to make it finally! So am officially on Balmung now Well while I'm not sure which sort of Free Company will fit your mood, a good spot to start making connections would be the Hugs&Cake LS. From there you can look for folks that you identify well with and reach out to see what sort of stuff they like to.
  16. Rio is already i173/4? I can't remember which. Going to try pushing for my Hive weapon while I finish running the roulettes for these last three accessories, but I'm up for attempting Alexander whenever folks want to gather. I would need a slight heads up however, as I'm thinking to try my hand on Friday night if I find no one for NM. Seems to be relatively easy and short from what I've heard so far.
  17. What sort of FC are you looking for theme-wise? It would definitely help us to make a few suggestions, and honestly if this is the one thing holding you back I'd jump ship already! Tons of open RP go on in Balmung, and this is how I ended up sort of stumbling into my FC. Also, welcome to the RPC!
  18. < looks for book to see what they look like > That's cool... I didn't want to see it anyway... On a side note, while the Caster gear does not look very eye opening, I am absolutely in love with this Doman-styled gear and loath that I can not for the life of me figure out a way to add it to my RP... yet.
  19. Personally, I feel it would be a bit of a mistake to say that you simply wouldn't run this. Allow me to explain. While it would have been most convenient to find all of the individuals required here in this thread, chances are that most simply move in their own circles, especially since I know quite a few members of the RPC tank-wise who could do this. Instead of deciding that we simply lack the ability to field a static however, why not get a headcount of those who have already shown their interest - it seems the list is up to date minus a naming issue I PM'd about - and hop on merely thirty minutes or so beforehand to recruit members using the party finder. You can easily describe it is as just "Need Non-DRK Tank, WHM, and BRD/MCH." From the people that whisper you, you can explain that the rest of the party will be on in thirty minutes sharp, our pre-determined time. In fact, everyone should be on 15 minutes early just so we can early-fill if need be instead of wasting our window sitting around. During the raid, we can see the individual clicks, and if so, we can offer them a spot and explain the times and such to them. While we won't immediately net the best of players, we are here to have fun, and individuals should all be given the chance to show that they can - at the least - learn from mistakes. I would hope that it wouldn't be too long after that when we might be able to field an entire static with no fill-in required.
  20. No. Not that song, it was trapped in my head for so long...
  21. Still an ant that didn't sink down on its first launch >_>....! Don't diss on the oldies! I find it interesting when people try to twist this *particular* knife. Lets just judge everything off of the past and not consider it for what it is today, in which case, haha, when y'all were born you couldn't even walk! Get good scrubs!
  22. That is quite the impressive spread of classes! I would like to point out that there is a system in place where any class that is below your top-leveled one gets a 50% increase in experience permanently, so if you find one you love in particular it could definitely save you some time on the leveling. However, if this is just to get all the lore on your own pace, do not let me interrupt your method. I somehow missed this nugget of information when I started! Feel free to give a shout if you need any sort of help figuring out the backstory. Some story elements don't appear until later - looking at you Ishgardians - and make for wonderfully culture-influenced characters if that is your bit!
  23. My thanks for this! I can use this information to tweak the background of my secondary character!
