As soon the full lore is established, I will take it into consideration when making my Dark Knight, however, in the end I will shape my character as I see fit. I'm not one to break lore though, but it is important to know that there are several ways to be what a class/job is. For example, the Marauders were ex-pirates, right? But just because you wield an axe doesn't mean you HAVE to be part of the Marauders. You could be self-taught or a travelling Marauder could teach you how to wield an axe. The same with Dragoons. You don't HAVE to be an Elezen from Ishgard to be a Dragoon, your character could just as well have been taught in the ways of the Dragoon outside of Ishgard, which would explain how Miqo'te and Lalafel Dragoons exist. It's the same with the Dark Knights. Yes, the ORIGINAL Dark Knights might be as the lore states, but that doesn't mean YOUR Dark Knight is one of them. It's an explanation to how the Dark Knights came to be, not a factual rule that ALL DARK KNIGHTS have to be one of those.

I have an idea about my Au Ra's powers, but until the lore is fully established, I won't delve into it alot. However, my current characters: - My Elezen Summoner studies all sorts of magic, but has ever since childhood been greatly fascinated by the power of the Primals and has since then wanted to harness that power. So he's studied all types of magic in order to find a way to do so by joining the various magic guilds and reading ancient tomes he's found in the libraries and on his travels. He finally got to test his skills by actually fighting a Primal and contain its essence, and through an ancient Summoner ritual found a way to wield a fraction of that power. But he wants more and is still finding ways to do so. - My Hyur Ninja is ICly still just a Rogue and has since childhood been a street rat who had to take care of himself, so he's always had a natural affinity for stealth and thievery. He was taken in by a pirate captain who took him to the seas where he was taught to be a killer. However, most of the crew got eradicated by the Calamity, and so he's been a mercenary, an assassin and was eventually trained by the Rogue Guild which helped him wipe his slate clean and gave him a chance to start over. So he has no supernatural powers as such, other than being able to hide in shadows and use stealth to his advantage.

I've always had the attitude that everyone can RP anything they want. Want to RP a demonic Voidsent? Then do that. Want to RP a dragon disguised as an Elezen? Go ahead. Want to RP as Kratos, Sephiroth, Iron Man or some other already existing character from another game or media? Sure, have fun. However, do it with people who can accept you RP'ing as that. Don't expect everyone to accept your RP, because as long it is lore-breaking, they have no reason to. If you think it's fun to RP whatever you want, then go have fun with that and don't let anything anyone says spoil that fun. But never force your RP on someone else if they don't accept what your RP. And on the other side, if I see someone RP'ing something I don't want to accept due to it breaking the lore, then I'll just not RP with those people. But I would NEVER go tell them to NOT RP whatever lore-breaking RP they do. At most, I will inform them that their RP is lore-breaking, but if they wish to continue their RP then they are fully within their right to do so. ^^

Having played Trolls in World of Warcraft and Castanic in TERA, it's nothing new to me to RP someone with horns or tusks in the way when being more intimate with someone. Here's a few solutions: - Interlocking. Imagine like with elks and deers with those large antlers, when they butt heads with eachother, they kinda interlock the antlers with one another. It's kinda the same with two Au Ra when kissing. It's not always truly correct or fitting, but it's a solution none the less. - Long tongues. Because of their foreign nature, and even somewhat demonic visage, something like the Au Ra having very long tongues would not be out of the question. I intend for my Au Ra to have one, and believe me, it is VERY useful. - Horn sheaths. Sheaths made out of leather or maybe a softer material which you can cover your horns with to make sure you won't poke a hole or scratch your partner when going down on him/her. Otherwise, be creative and have fun with it! ^^

Yesterday, I ran a dungeon where the Tank was apparently high, because he would pause 5 times, saying "Wait... Bong hits." ... ... REALLY?! I have to WAIT FOR YOU because you decided to get HIGH while playing FFXIV?! I already have little to no respect for those who smoke weed, get drunk or take drugs, and now those people are affecting MY playtime with a game! Screw that shit!

As Hyur #100000, how do you distinguish yourself from the others? This is a stupid prejudice that's only applied to Miqo'te (and now Au Ra) Rpers by smug hipster RPers. The fact of the matter is that just as many RPers (or more) are Hyur and don't come to this website, but no one laments that Hyur are so plentiful or comments that they don't really consider them in RP because there's "just so many". It's just a smug hipster way of trying to present yourself as a better RPer for not playing one. So as Au Ra #51412 I'll distinguish myself by being a good writer and someone who is fun and compelling to RP with, I'd do the same thing if I was Au Ra # 100000. I agree with this, but without the unnecessary name-calling. ^^

Well, like in real life, not everyone is a unique special snowflake. Doesn't mean they are lesser as people.

It's not always so cut and dry in social situations. If you ask me how to make a USB device work, I'm going to tell you to plug it into the USB port. If that doesn't work, I've got no idea what's wrong. It's possible the OP took the advice given and just struck out with it. There's no guarantee of success when dealing with other people. However, repeatedly posting "I'm lonely, so I'm going to go off alone and stop responding and looking at feedback" is the wrong way to get anything changed. In my opinion, at least. Yeah, I guess that's fair. Good point. It's just odd that if he's asked so many times before, gotten tons of advice, then went to do as adviced and still on square one. Two possibilities - either the advice just didn't work, or he didn't actually follow the advice. If it is the first point that's the case, then since it is people in this community who are playing the same game and doing RP, then those people giving advice are the same who are ignoring him and turning their backs on him. However, if it is the latter, my point stands with it's his own fault. It sounds very black and white, I know, but that's basically what's happening here.

My main is currently Elezen. But I think it is due to the odd proportions. They are like elves, but have weird, lanky bodies that seems to put off some people. However, they look ALOT better in FFXIV than the Elvaan in FFXI.

I will change my main into an Au Ra and have him be a new character ICly. My main will ICly either end up dead or live the rest of his life together with someone dear to his heart... depends on how things turn out. And then my Au Ra will most likely be my only character... until my altitis kicks in, that is.

Dunno if it's been mentioned, but it was pretty much the same that happened in World or Warcraft when I was playing that. When "The Burning Crusade" came out, EVERYONE wanted to play a Blood Elf. When "Wrath of the Lich King" came out, EVERYONE wanted to play a Death Knight. When "Cataclysm" came out, EVERYONE wanted to be a Worgen... and so on and so forth. It's just because the Au Ra is a new shiny thing that people want to try out! It will be the same with the three new classes. However, when people have tried them out, some people will go back to what they played before. Personally, I will most likely stay with the Au Ra though, simply because I prefer playing demon-looking races in MMO's, like the Castanic from TERA or the Tieflings from Neverwinter.

I would consider this arguement valid IF Miqo'te have different types of ears attached to the face options. But they don't, all ears look the same on ALL faces. The only thing that changes slightly is the fur when choosing hair options, but the very shape of the ears stay the same. However, that's not the case with the Au Ra horns which actually change for each face option. Perhaps I used the wrong body part. Ill change it. All Au Ra will have horns like all Miq have tails. To be frank, no one will go outside of a rp excuse "I remember you from your really big horns" when they've probably or will see 100 other au Ra OOC with the exact same horn option you picked face tied or not. Just like you never hear "I remember you from your tail!" Well, to me, it's not about what OTHERS see on my character. It's what I see on my character. There's a pair of horns I think looks cool, but I like a face better than the one the horns are attached to, so I would want to pick that pair of horns with that face. Well ive not had that problem so I wouldn't know. *shrug* Your Au Ra looks good enough as is imo. The Au Ra horns tied to the faces really limits the customization, and I overall find it an odd choice to link those two things together. The horns could easily have been a customization option on its own, not dependent of your choice of face. What do you guys think?
