Anima Weapons and You: A Guide for Killing Yourself Again
Momo replied to Warren Castille's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Either way, this step is pretty dang easy! But the weapons it makes are...(arguably) very ugly depending on which weapon you have....the aesthetic of dark red ribbon over bright gold light on many of the weapons or just about any color that doesn't match that color ribbon...yeah, not sure about that. Those who are getting the DRK weapon or say, the AST weapon, pretty dang cool looking! -
I consider the Orchestrion canon, but unfortunately that means the 3D sound is also canon, not sure how I feel about that part....very realistic, but OOCly...yeah.

Above comments aside (because let's face it, that is true, people get way into things that are for RP only), RP romance can be fun, relaxing, engaging, and all the other things that any other type of RP can be. Some characters I keep open to love, others just sleep around, and still others I keep romance off-screen so as to police it myself. It depends on the character, but should always be kept fun, and as an addition to the plot, instead of the whole plot!

I dunno which Egi we are getting, but the fact that they will begin implementing on an actual time frame is my biggest focus! Gonna cross fingers for Shiva, but I am open to ANYTHING that isn't Garuda :dodgy: All of this new stuff looks pretty damn cool, let's hope they are on the ball with everything!

Sooo...about the whole section of the letter where Japan gets new event items...did they discuss anything there for everyone else at all? Do we assume they are just gonna cash-shop those? (That would make sense since they are purchasing real things to obtain items anyways). It would fun/funny to see 7-Eleven get a strange upswing in business from this though just saying... The Chinese and Korean armor would be nice additions, let's hope that everyone fights for all of these above items to come here!

I love seeing this finished product after much effort! Alderique did a great job of organizing it, and cat wrangling (most literally) to get everything just so. Please everyone stop by and check it out! Flynt, Alder and Momo would be happy to give you a tour of the whole place, and both of them would particularly enjoy the part of the tour where we give an up close/hands-on at look Alderique's room. He has a very nice Oasis Canopy. _(┐「ε:_ _(┐ 「ε_ _(┐ 「ε_

To be real with you...transfer. If you really want to RP, pay the money to transfer to Balmung. It is worth it. Mateus...as far as I know doesn't have an RP community -at all-. The two servers besides Balmung that do, aren't wide ranging, and probably have established groups that you would have to weave into. Same for Balmung, but there is a lot more wiggle room! Good luck, if you do transfer, make 8 characters and transfer them all so you have alts for later if you really want!

My best suggestion: Get an RP group in either an LS or an FC, this will solve the problem of both "only tavern RP" and making new RP friends. Looking around RPC is always good, we have lots of LSs ad FCs around, and/or if you know what sort of RP you are looking for that would advance your character, many times people can help in that way. While the places above are great, many of them require already knowing people and getting them together to actually RP with any success in them. If you go to those places and sit waiting around, you are going to be there quite some time. I am going to stick with trying another way to get RP, certainly make use of open nights at inns and taverns which are player created, that helps. Find a good group, tell them you want a trial basis as a member. Strike out there, and you will find good RP, it is all over, you just have to look hard for it, but once you -do- find it, you will see it in all the places you didn't before.

He was pretty good in bed, power bottom mostly, but I remember he didn't say much? Anyways...if you are gonna connect yourself to MSQ, I always think it is best to choose the most innocuous character to connect to, ie not the WoL, the Scions, or the City-State commanders/leaders/royalty, except in cases of them being far down the totem pole as to interact with them in daily business with your job/class maybe.

Momo slept with him at some point, but it was a one-night stand, and he didn't ask his name...so I don't bring it up. Just flavor text, you know.

So basically what you are saying is Rauby is GLD/Crossclass: Badass? Because that is what I am getting from all this. "Sorry excuse" for gladiator far underscores how sad they must truly be, as in 1.0, even against what we are to assume is a champion gladiator, it is clear that Raub doesn't even use a fraction of his power (lets not even talk about how many arms he has at the time), and I personally thought the only reason he managed to lose that arm was because of rage/distraction rather than lack of skill or mismatched ability against whatshisface. Also, I suppose from Rauby, we are to infer, you can become powerful doing only a job, if you work really hard, and you crush all the competition (or just work really hard if you're boring)? Because seeing a job become this strong...leaves a lot of questions about the further powers of classes and their match ups against one another. My current thoughts are on the similarity of Rauby's abilities and Ifrit as well as a pinch of NIN/Rogue thrown in....hmmmmm.

Sorry, at work not looking at my chart, Bloodsworn >,<;;;; Whoops, thank you Warren! But I still stand by my soulstone idea!
-
To be fair to those who play "more powerful jobs", the good RPers who play them, don't do so because they want a strong character, they do so because they want to explore those jobs in-character. Often one of the points raised against powerful jobs, is power seeking, but if you are doing a job for power in a world of RP...you are totally missing the point, because no one can be commanded to acknowledge that power either way. Another thing, how do we know that Raub doesn't have a soulstone, literally I am curious if this is mentioned or just assumed? Because the commander of the Sultansworn...I am just not sure he doesn't have a soulstone unless there is proof otherwise. Not that it matters! I am just curious! Hahaha

The root of the argument is basically what is being skirted, and that is: most things can be done, but to be done they would need to be done well and done "certain ways" and most would rather just toss out the concept and RPer both, rather than try to creep into it, testing it, and getting the good RP that comes from it. Bottom line is: you trust a person and you know them to be a good RPer, then trust they have you in mind, and not just themselves, in that way you can have good RP flowing, lots of development and you are both on the same page. We know that WHM can be done, is it hard? Yes. Does it have to be done in a certain way? Yes. Should no one ever do it because it is too hard and requires too much thought? No. I fully think they should, and the ones that choose to, should know the limitations that come along with that, and be adept and content with playing those out. Same with any of the harder jobs, BLM included. Be a creative RPer, and work out a plot with a BLM soulstone in it, they did exist, there was more than one BLM during the War of Magi. The stone could be hidden in the most obvious place, could have been found, and the owner doesn't know what it is, could be set in the necklace/belt of your plot's characters. Bilbo found the ring of power in a cave, before that it was found in the bottom of a lake. Don't play yourself as the WoL, but take some inspiration in the subtlety that powerful objects can have, many of the greatest fiction writers of all time certainly did. Either way, build some trust in your group, and with other RPers in the community, and most of them will not only have no problem, but also commend you for your ability. Don't come out of left field expecting full trust and "anything goes", and you will be set!

Perfect venue choice of course! Time we moved out of the musty old cabaret cellars and bring the music to the world! I am so very sad I can't be there, but I hope can send some audience your way, and maybe some favors, hope this goes well! Break a leg you two!

I agree with Lia, the pink/peach tones of her skin clash with the first color, the second just works better over all. Consequently, if you chose a skin color lighter, less pink, I think the first hair would be just as nice! I personally enjoy seeing characters which have a slightly off-normal hair color, something not necessarily natural to real world, but not too crazy either, so the second one would probably catch my eye, plus Auri girls always choose the more out there color for that good ol' anime aesthetic. Good luck...I know I spend crazy amounts of time in Character Creation @,@.

So....this is a story about myself traveling, during an event which happened a little over two years ago. Lady GaGa, who is for lack of a better word, a great idol in my life, announced the release of her ARTPOP album, she also released a teaser stating that she would be having a concert, which she called an ARTRave, which would be free, and that she would be having this concert later, just after the launch of her full album. Needless to say, having seen her about 7 times live up to that point, I NEEDED to get to that concert, and ingrained that immediately in my mind. Months passed, we got the full glorious album, not well received by the public, but just another era in her life and creative process for a diehard fan like me, and new news came! That week, at the end of the week, there would be said concert, the first ARTRave, and by her standards the most spectacular. It was to be in NY City somewhere...but that was the kicker, she said: "The location is secret, if you make it to the venue, you may be able to get in free." I immediately booked a ticket to NY and a hotel in Brooklyn (where I always stay in NY) and was off by the end of the week to find a single venue somewhere in NY. I arrived in NY around 9-10 am, got to my room, threw on my favorite leather studded jacket, fishnet top over a longsleeve, tightest black jeans, and favorite black leather boots (of course full make up, hair done, and my favorite pair of Spitfire shades with the circle lenses), grabbed my fully charged phone, my moneh, and a snack, and headed out. Normally I like to walk around the area, I tend to stay in the Jewish district, which is for whatever reason, a very peaceful and lovely little part of Brooklyn, but this time I raced out, and headed into the city. Probably left my room around 11 miraculously. Like any good NYer at heart, I walked, I took the train, I took the bus, aaaaaall over that damn city, Uptown, Midtown, Downtown, East Side, West Side, I did all the areas up for around 6 hours of random searching, having compiled a list of possible venues based on GaGa's haunts and the number of people said to be able to enter the venue. I found nothing, I decided to head back to my room, ahng out for a bit, threw my phone on the bed, and relaxed in a morbid mood about my lack of luck, until my phone beeped. "Go back to Wall Street, hit the pier, I hear you can find something there, who knows?" The above was a message from one of my NY monster contacts, someone I frequently saw when I was in the city for GaGa, and I trusted it, so I grabbed my phone, grabbed my jacket and grabbed a cab this time. Back to Wall Street (the pier this time, I had been on actual Wall Street at random earlier that day), searching about, finally stopping to ask the pier workers if they had any clues for me. While doing so, two gentlemen noticed my outrageous garb, and were dressed similarly, and looking lost similarly, and they joined me in talking to the workers still around the pier, it was around 6pm at this point. Yes, indeed, they had seen other dressed similarly take a boat further down the way, but that it would be faster and easier to grab a cab, which we all did so, sharing the fare. We arrived to find probably 200 monsters hanging out at the dock there, apparently, the venue could only be reached by boat from this place. So I waited....and waited....aaaaand waited. For about 5 more hours, around 11 was just before the concert was supposed to start. We had seen VIPs of all sorts with tickets and such, and many began to get discouraged as it was cold and the wind off the water was quite chilling, many gave up, many many. From around 200, probably 50 had tickets to get on a boat, our numbers dwindled down to 20, then to 18, the guards stationed around telling us that we should give up, we were -never- getting in. I didn't give up after all that, no freaking way after bus, train, walking, cabs, clues, secret location mapping, covering the whole of NY, was I giving up. Finally, around Midnight, one of the staff came over and said, well...GaGa just called over, she said if anybody else was waiting this long, they must be crazy, and we need to let them on the last boat over. I very nearly cried at that moment, and gladly took a place on the boat with the few remaining people, refreshed by free drinks and service staff on the way over, we all gathered outside to look up at the enormous venue, a Glass-walled factory setting, with lazer lights coming out of the top, we all threw back the last of our drinks, and ran off the boat, going through the VIP paparazzi area, having our coats taken off by the valets waiting outside the glass doors. GaGa with Visa, has spared no expense on this free concert, that was totally clear upon entering. Statues created by Jeff Koons were erected sky high, the DJ booth housed Madeon who was DJing the night, the bars were all free, wine and liquor overflowing, best food trucks in NY parked out back serving free food all night, fashion, and design from her artist friends housed in various rooms, all around a giant tiered white stage. I partied with Alexander Wang, who was such a sweetheart to us, her crazy fans actually dancing insanely, I had literally a bottle of red wine in my hand I was swigging out of, I got to meet GaGa's mother, her sister, her father, and her dancers and their parents, all of which who were making rounds, the concert itself was pure magic, of which I loved every second, and which you can watch on youtube if interested. I MET TONY BENNETTE FOR GODS SAKES! He was also so sweet to us. An outrageously free good time was had by all I can tell you. A time I could never forget as long as I live. Just when you entered the venue was the biggest art spectacle outside of GaGa herself, a truly massive Lady GaGa sculpture produced by Jeff Koons specifically for the event, and I am not much of a photo taker, preferring to utterly experience things without a lens in my face, but I knew I had to take a picture for my friends who couldn't make it. So I went over, gave my phone to someone who was partying with me all night, she lined up the shot, then her face fell..... I HAD FORGOTTEN TO CHARGE THE FUCKING BATTERY ON MY PHONE WHEN I WENT BACK TO MY ROOM.... Naturally three people took pictures of me and promised to send them, I never received a single one I should tell you, I had nothing to return home with besides one of the most memorable experiences of my life, and a wild story that could very well be nonsense. As I said, I will never forget it, but you know, that means I will also never forget that time I had that amazing once in a lifetime concert experience and forgot to charge my damn battery to take a single picture for proof...I was this close to punching myself in the face, and at times I still want to kick myself when I think about it.

Compliments Galore! Compliment The Poster Above You!
Momo replied to Y'lani's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Dunno much about Zhavi, but from a single conversation with her, I felt that she was a person that, given time, can always put herself on the other side of the fence. She can think outside the box, and into another person's shoes, and that alone is something to discuss fully, participate freely, and appreciate wholly. (Good luck next poster ^,^ hahahahaha) -
I am kinda sad that they didn't release Green in english T,T I wanted my Bulbasaur to have a proper home as my starter on his own color game...he deserves that after all these years.
-
I think they sort of rushed the announcement only because people were revealing Sun and Moon just before that, so they wanted to own up to the name ASAP. I hope to get more info soon though for sure, and I assume they will have some for us considering people now think waiting a year or two for a new main title is reason for ravenous need (I'm not saying I disagree!). Sooooo, two things, I think they will be starting a Celebi event as the next Legendary Anniversary? Also, now until October, you can get the three legendary golems with their special abilities by signing up for Pokemon Bank! (Which I have, but keep forgetting bout T,T) This is an exciting and event filled year from the previous couple of dry years, getting skipped over for giveaways though we are neck and neck in sales for Pokemon with Japan. Ah well, that is the 20 year fan talking, I am gonna go back to being stupidly giddy about a game we have only heard of!

It would be in the best interest of the person playing to only use the Trances and Egis of Primals that more than the WoL themselves, have access to. Phoenix is basically off limits, it's aether lost in the aether at the fall of Bahamut most likely. Shiva is another hard one, though I think that if you made your way to Akh Afah Amphitheater and did some attuning you may be able to find Shiva in there somewhere if you are already a SMN. Levi and Ramuh would be a bit easier, as a trance Ramuh would be reasonable, Levi an Egi or a trance, we only have information on why the former (Ramuh) has no Egi, whereas Levi has just never been done before. The absorption of your Egi basically happens each time you revoke them. They are, as Souns stated, a split of your aether using the "taint" or absorbed aether of the particular primal you are summoning to give them form, which [the taint] falls over the area of their defeat, and lingers for some time after, usually believed to be in accordance with how strong said Primal was. This being considered, the use of their powers by absorbing them? I suppose you could, it would be better to maybe make your spells as a Thaumaturge cross-class a bit stronger maybe? The Trances seemed to be created to harness the residual aether which a very strong primal has left to be absorbed by the summoner, and so gives the summoner some iota of their abilities, so having the power of Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan within you may not actually give you the ability to use their powers beyond summoning an Egi, only because we know that they weren't nearly as strong as say Bahamut, and apparently not as strong as Ramuh, because we think of something Jana mentioned in terms of energy scales. I hope some of the things shared here helped, the link Sounsyy both supplied and filled, is an invaluable collection information that we know up to now, and a good read of it could jog some ideas or help you set a guideline of how you want things to work for your character. Good luck!

It happens once in a blue moon that I am to choose anything other than the Lalafell choice, but I absolutely agree. Sometimes trash is good, this time not so much, there is but one true Songbird, that is Masha, most beautiful and genuine of the group, a clear winner over the Karen and Regina George's of the world.

3.2 Story and Discovery Thread: HERE BE [SPOILERS]
Momo replied to Warren Castille's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I saw Amdapor got brought up a few times in thread, so let's go over some things. Firstly, the undead Mhachi and Amdaporians. These are a type of ashkin known as Fomors, undead preserved by magic who still possess a soul, which is why they possess the personality, combative, and magical capabilities they had in life. Fomors fall loosely into the category of Revenants, undead who refuse to accept death, and so fiercely cling to life that their soul does not depart to the Lifestream. Unlike Revenants, however, Fomors are aware that they are dead. I cover this topic in a bit more detail at the bottom of this post. Now, its a fair theory to believe one of the reasons the elementals believed the Amdaporians corrupted succor was because they created undead, however, we do not actually know if it was the Amdaporians who animated these Fomors or if it were the invading Mhachi or their Voidsent allies. Most Fomors we see in game today date back to the Belah'dian and War of the Sisters eras, wherein powerful thaumaturges and alchemists were both noted for reanimating the dead to use in their armies. Belah'dia especially. And Belah'dia was formed of mages who survived the Great Flood which wiped out Mhach and Amdapor. So... are the undead there because of Amdapor or because of Mhach? We don't know. This moves into another point I saw earlier that animating inanimate objects was a corruption. This was not a corruption actually. Magicks which animated inanimate objects was actually quite a common practice during the 5th Astral Era. Amdapor, Mhach, and Nym all have inanimate constructs in their lore histories. In fact, Amdapor was built by magically animated bricks. Nym was guarded by soulkin, creatures whose soul resides in an external object, such as a golem and their soulstone, or a spriggan and their rock buddy. And Mhach animated entire mountain ranges into golems and such to fight for them. So, this part was likely not the corruption. So, what was the corruption? The final boss. When Amdapor corrupted Succor into a tool for war. When white magic was no longer used to heal, but to hurt. This was the corruption. This is what angered the elementals and possibly why they feared to go into Amdapor while Kuribu still lived. This also fits in very nicely with already established lore of why the elementals drove out the Amdaporians: Also, thanks go to Osric for asking last night, there's mention of the "Hannish" people by F'lhaminn and her companions. Hannish refers to people from Radz-at-Han, the capital of Thavnair. Essentially, F'lhaminn and the other scions went into hiding in the Near East. I think maybe the Amdapori corruption idea came in the form of the animated blocks/bricks, which were said to be animated by Voidmagics if I am not wrong? History seems to blame Mhachi for their admittedly vast usage of Voidmagic, but it seems that Amdapor was also a perpetrator of this as well, and I think it was that kind of morally ambiguous norm, that eventually led to the War of the Magi. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong on that animated stone theory! I am excited/slash terrified to experience these mentioned scenes! T,T____ -
Nathan Telluride, your one-stop source on being a little lady! Really though, so excited for these outfits...this will be great for Doman RPers! Another option for something near-Japanese, but as a Lalafell, I will just basically look adorable in this, so...

I think reincarnation is a strong word for what I think would be the more likely scenario. If Soulstones, Ascians, Y'shtola, and the theories behind their circumstances are to be believed, I think it more than likely for Aehter to hold a person's memory, even into the lifestream, and indeed, perhaps that life reinvigorates the lifestream through the cycle of life-experience. In this way, I think that memories, certain strong memories, an instance or great happiness or sadness, fear or anger, could be recycled into a new life. Perhaps, with a strong enough will or memory, a life form who's aether returned to the stream, could possibly pull some of its self back into new life with it? Sort of a magnetic will? We have seen strong wills play a big part in the division and staying power of a life who dies and is brought back, or who travels with extraordinary means across distance and time, so I think it is not impossible. How rare or likely it is? Well, probably not very, but I think done well it would make a good story, if you treat it with respect and imbue it with great creativity, perhaps create a story-arch with your RP group instead of just throwing this character into whatever situation at random. Can it be done? Yes! Should it be done lightly? No!
