  1. That said, hate it when people stand behind her and think it's the marked person's fault that they got hit.
  2. If you figure it out, let me know.
  3. They're a far eastern thing as far as I know. Only recently been showing up in Eorzea. Last years Heavensturn event gave us some horse lore.
  4. Well, the thing about something being canon due to flavour text... >>;; Not getting into this! Nope! I'll just say I like my chocobo. Regular old chocobo.
  5. I play a "city-cat" because when I created my character, there was absolutely no sign of tribal miqo'te in game. We did not even know for sure that they lived in tribes ever, let alone presently. We did not know about the tribal letters significance, nor anything at all about the males other than they "aren't seen but are rumored to live even in the city itself" or something, so said our sole source of racial lore in game at the time. I recall a miqo'te NPC woman speaking about her husband in 1.0. I recall being one of the few miqo'te players to come up with a "traditional" name for my character when I noticed the naming trends for her clan, and a reason for her not using it based on assumptions that turned out to be correct about them being hard to pronounce (those h's). Even so, all that isn't even why I argue that I think the tribal variety are the less common miqo'te. I'm not going to go into it all because this isn't the place for it (and honestly, I don't let it bother me anymore either way - as I said above I acknowledge evidence on both sides and think that it's up to the RPer to choose which they want to play), but I do think it is much more than a "cairn of stones" - otherwise those of us who choose that interpretation would be grasping at straws when defending our view. I'm sure that some folks RP non traditional miqo'te because they want to RP a hyur with cat ears, or because they're uncomfortable with the tribal rules presented for traditional miqo'te. But I believe the majority of those that play non tribal choose not to based on how they interpret the lore. I personally went this route because my character was already developed as an adventurer, there by being non traditional just in that alone, as well as my findings in 1.0 and ARR that lead me to my conclusions about the tribal vs non tribal population distribution.
  6. That was the opinion of a few individuals that was mistakenly passed around as canon by others. Miqo'te traditions are very much alive, in fact evidence that those Miqo'te that do stray from tradition are the minority. It's debated. There's evidence for both sides. I could give you evidence that Miqo'te who live traditionally are the minority just as quickly as you could give me evidence of the contrary. Rather than saying one side is correct or not until SE spells it out for us, it'd be cool if we could acknowledge that both sides have their backing and it is the choice of the RPer to make.
  7. Note the use of "race" in the description - males are rare in both Seeker and Keeper clans of the Miqo'te race. I really think it's the rarity of the males that make polyamory less likely for the Seekers at least and probably for the Keepers as well. On the surface it seems like an easy fit: one guy, multiple wives. But I think Seekers and Keepers culture and biological realities make it less applicable. There's still room for it, I believe. I haven't been persuaded yet. Such a good discussion tho. I love getting others opinions about Miqo'te especially outside the neko, fan-service, dynamic. Oh I'm not really applying the rarity as reasons for true polyamory in either clan, just pointing out that the rarity of males exists in the entire race, not just in the Keeper clan.

  9. Aysun is a name/character I have used in multiple places now, though this is the only second time I have RP'd her. Her basic personality starts off about the same, however the universe she is set in and the interaction she has shapes her. I do not carry over any previous RP/plots/background, modified or not. This Aysun is very different emotionally and psychologically from the original I made due to the XIV universe she is in and the RP I've had with her. Visually, the heterochromia, petite/scrappiness, and tendency for short hair carries over.
  10. You're not alone in those thoughts. It varies, as there are arguments for both sides.
  11. OKAY yea I think I was misunderstanding. Wording things. Don't mind me. I can't answer your question as to why people will assume that Keepers are more polyamorous rather than just promiscuous as the lore implies!
  12. There's been snippets of lore that show Keepers as polyamorous as well. They have breeding males, just don't do the titles as Seekers do. I believe Rakka'li posted some information in the "Miqo'te mating strategies" thread recently. As far as polyamory goes, I am one of those people who admittedly is taken aback by it. I cannot fathom being in one, and even struggle to RP such a thing, because it is so foreign to me. I know it's a legitimate relationship preference, so despite the formatting making this a bit of a difficult read as has been said, it was interesting.
  13. Or it could be, you know, what the devs wanted to make the race look like. I for one was surprised that Yugiri, after kicking so much major ass, will look like a doll, and kind of like that.
  14. This is true and while I'm sorry that something like this can't be done for every member that unfortunately passes (my condolences for your friend, Aoixin) I think had more people heard about it; there would be more of a response such as the one that occurred for Codex. Oh yes I imagine so! The community is pretty awesome like that. I'm not expressing regret really, we did honor her in our own way, it was just much smaller.
  15. It is not the first time the XIV Community has lost someone, and unfortunately won't be the last. I wish we could have had something like this for Aoixin, but our little somber circle of remembering was just as well. RIP Codex. Didn't know you, but it still stings to lose one of our own. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
  16. Your poll says "often" - I had to say "no" because of that! She's accumulated four (one faded nearly gone) scars over 4 years of RP. She does cover them up - well, the ones she can! Mostly because she doesn't like to be asked about them. They have stories and are from significant events that have occurred IC. But are definitely not "often!"
  17. Working on Christmas. :3 /healthcare professional
  18. I'm kind of confused why someone would buy a FC with no housing? o_o
  19. Setting an alarm to create your character early in the morning U.S. time is the way to go!

    ...I love this thread.
  21. Are you looking to clear, or help (either is fine): Help What time/day is good for you: Evenings (ET) What time zone are you in: Central What role do you wish to take on: DPS or healer What is your ilevel in the role you want to go as: Bard (i116), White mage (i110), Ninja (i110). Bard is my primary and I can do any content on it (T1 - T9, all Ex primals, etc). WHM I am a little more selective about (I haven't healed some things, such as Titan Ex or some of the SCOB turns). Ninja's just there for fun. Contact me! I like helping out!
  22. As someone who desperately wants to buy a small house, but cannot afford to pay someone to relinquish a plot and then purchase the plot on top of it, I wish they wouldn't. But I understand the reasons behind it.
