  1. Missed due to my derp and being out of town most of the day. I hope it was an awesome success!
  2. I've always treated the fact that Aysun can read and write as a bit of an anomaly IC. She knows it's an abnormal skill to have. ..I mostly made her literate because I wanted to journal.
  3. Since I recruited my hubby, technically, once his sub runs out I'm going to try to see if this will work to reactivate his account. We'll see in.. 43 days. And counting... I wonder if my patience will last that long.
  4. I've been aging Aysun as I play her. At launch in 1.0, she was 17. She's now 20 (25 by her birth year, due to the silly time warp). The time the game was down she should have had a nameday but I skipped it because.. that would have been weird. So she's had 3 years of playtime, therefore 3 years of aging. Time passing is always a little weird in MMOs because it technically doesn't happen for NPCs until there is a patch or something to progress things, but yet there are events such as Heavensturn (New Year) and such that suggests the passage of time. As a RPer, I find it easier to just allow the passage of time with these events like normal. Every day IRL is a day for Aysun. Simple! Just requires a little fudging with the game storyline if that comes up. Luckily, the people I RP with play in the same manner (or it doesn't come up), so that's what is important. In her timeline, the Calamity was six years ago now, because the group I am with observed the date the game went down as an anniversary of the event.
  5. Lookin' awesome! (Also WOW AYSUN LOOKS SO ANGRY IN THE AVATAR VERSION! xDD)
  6. Hey, it is Limsa. If you're a Seeker that's totally accurate.. ~ I'm going to vote for the Drowning Wench, if only because the Missing Member may not be the most.. welcoming place to outsiders.
  7. Reading this.. kind of blows my mind. While I'm known to have some particular views on aspects of the lore myself (though it's about things that are not clearcut, like this IS), the idea of forcing them down people's throats like that, and being blatantly WRONG..? Wow. The advice given so far has been spot on. Just have to express my /jaw drop to that conversation.
  8. Just got to make sure you're LoSing using the Renaud as a barrier, and hurrying to get out of there once it's done. And that just takes practice!
  9. Not knowing your role (I assume a range DPS?), it's hard to offer advice. Before my static disbanded we were progressing well in T7, so I'll just talk about what you said you're having trouble with. VOIP is very helpful in T7, for calling out VOICE and SHRIEK. Make sure you know the difference between them, of course. Keep Melusine focus targeted so you know what she's using if you don't have VOIP for someone to call it out. VOICE: projects a petrification cone in the direction you are facing. SHRIEK: projects a circular wave of petrification around the person it affects. VOICE is simple to deal with once you are used to it. I advise moving your Status Affect bar somewhere easily visible for your benefit (mine is above my hotbars) so that you can see when you are affected by it. Simply glance at the timer, and when it is down to 1-2 seconds, turn the character to the side or run to the edge of the arena to direct your cone away from the party. If you're a healer, it is your job to face the Renaud when you have VOICE and freeze it (without freezing the kiting bard!). SHRIEK depends on the coordination of the entire raid to dodge, so this is not always on you! The bard must be kiting the Renaud properly, so that it is in a good position behind the party. The healer must direct their VOICE at the Renaud to freeze it. The person who is afflicted with SHRIEK must position the Renaud between themselves and Melusine (and not be in the Renaud's hit box). The rest of the party must move so they are between the Renaud and Melusine, protected from the SHRIEK, and immediately move back into normal positions when it is done so the fireballs don't stack on people and kill them. All of this while DPSing the adds and the main boss! It takes practice. There will be wipes. LOSing the SHRIEK is done something like this: The bard happens to have the Renaud (purple star) there when it is frozen by one of the healers. The person who gains the SHRIEK effect (orange) runs to position themselves with the Renaud between them and Melusine. The party must immediately move into position (greens), the add (red) will be taken with. When SHRIEK goes off, spread out again to avoid fireballs stacking. That's pretty much all there is. If you're doing this and still dying, or still getting SHRIEKed.. then it's not you!
  10. Tiergan perfectly represented the chaotic waviness of nat's hair how I always imagined. Really think you :3. He's going to nail Aysun's for that very reason I expect. x3
  11. Miqo'te*! Welcome~ You'll find plenty of people just like you here, don't you worry! There is a RPer-created tribe group (these folks here). Pretty sure they have a wiki page too under the RPC wiki.
  12. Really, imagination. :3 I plan on using my room as something else, like Dogberry. But we have initiated 'construction' on our current FC house to add a few rooms for those who actually do want to live at the FC house.

Still recruiting, still around! This entry needs updating (revisions are being written) as the company has changed focus from charity to Mercenaries with Morals. Please visit the website for our most current details!
  14. Fantasia Flavor Text: Legend states that any who drink this mysterious liquid before lying down for the evening will awaken a new man (or woman). Grants you a single opportunity to edit your appearance in the character creation screen upon your next login. To me, this is simply an item that they added to overcome a game mechanic and make them money. It should not be used ICly. It is implied it is extremely rare, and it's affects are not confirmed, but rumored/legendary, basically. An acceptable reasons (TO ME) to use it would be to change to what your character was always supposed to be in 1.0. This does not involve IC use of the potion. For example, Miqo'te males, Highlander females, Roegadyn females - all not available as playable races in 1.0, but some characters did exist that were them. They can now match their appearance in game to what there character was supposed to be. Another example would be a character that was a Hyur in 1.0 and the player really always wanted them to be something else but could not change them. A retcon would be necessary, instead of using the potion ICly, in my opinion, so that the character "was always" the other race - talk to the players you RP with in that instance so that they know about the retcon and can deal with it.. which can be hard. No one likes to retcon. The ONLY IC instance of using Fantasia that I personally would really accept would be to "cast glamour" on the character. It wouldn't be an actual change, but a disguise, basically. There are several instances in the game of complete changes of appearance being referred to as a sort of magical glamour (imps, slyphs, etc, have done it) and the potion could be an acceptable way of doing it. Other than that? If someone mentions using Fantasia to me ICly, my character thinks they're nuts. You are what you appear to be. If you tell her you used to be a Lalafell, and you're a Miqo'te, she's going to think you need some serious help.
  15. Love the new ones! ~ (Storm headaches suck.)
  16. This is the only hub I know of for XIV RP. The Linkshells tab above is where you'll find a listing of RP FC/LS's, many of which have their own websites. Not all the RP FC/LS's are listed there, of course, some opt not to do that and merely recruit in game. Above is also the Wiki tab, which you can make a character profile on (and see many other character profiles). I know that isn't much, but I hope it helps point you a bit in a good direction.
