Welcome to the madhouse. Please leave your hat and coat at the door. Please keep your hands, arms, and legs inside the vehicle at all times. :bouncy:

Height sliders are excellent for myself, considering that I have to try to find a mix between being slightly taller then normal, and not being a basketball player by Miqo'te standards. Let's hope I can erase those tribal markings, though. I absolutely am burning to look at all of the hairstyles - and playing around with my hair and eye color to make them a 'stronger' tone, as I feel like that's what fits Ryanti... June can't come quick enough.

As far as relating concerns Ryanti, it's Nymeia. Fate is one of the strongest themes of Ryanti's character development. As regards to his actual faithful beliefs... I haven't figured that one out yet.

I'm one of those guys that didn't play XIV for long. I'd rather transfer and have RP perks, then stay behind. New roleplayers would go on the RP server anyhow.

He's from a Hyurian bloodline. He ended up with that because his father found love in a Miqo'te. Didn't get the best feedback from his parents from doing that. Also, I haven't put Ryanti's history down on paper, but that's definitely going to be the vocal point, not his family. I didn't think I got that across before. Anyway, feedback's been noted, though I warn it'll take longer to fix. If not because of creative processes, because things got frozen off my hands, and it's covered in blisters so it makes it moderately painful to type. Also, because college. Which is eating up all of my time. Brainstorming is welcome too if you wish. It would help me with time management. Also, I really want to do something Allagan. Because I have always been fascinated with the supremely advanced vanished ancient empire archetype.

I do share the feeling of the idea of having a family-sized IC persona in the same way (a legitimate family size, not simply 1 or 2 people playing all of the character). For a while, I thought I was alone in that endeavor. I do know so far that both Kylin and I have what you would call a large, extended noble family. I can't speak for Kylin, but I am planning for my family to be generally 'large' in the sense of Ryanti having many distant cousins, an Aunt and Uncle, Mother and Father, Grandfather, etc. Read my wiki for more details. Part of the reason why I'm undertaking the vast history and diversity of my character's family is because of the potential it has for other people, if they so desire, to become involved in my always-active process of defining the history of my character and his family. It's been a casual thought of mine to play around with the idea of others playing family members of my character IC. It would be more reminiscent of how the family's presence about themselves would actually be in the lore versus what is possible to do in-game. In fact, I think in my player directory thread, I talk about the potential of other rp'ers to play family members/associates/servants/swordmaster instructor/etc. It would definitely be something if it were to happen. If it fits your desires, I am open for it to happen. It's just, y'know, there has to be chemistry. Trust. I have paranoid-induced thoughts of people taking my family's lore and having myself lose creative control of my own 'dynasty' I guess you could say. I'm afraid I won't like where it goes if other people actually, y'know.. get their fingers on my creative process aka my family. So there would have to be a trust there, and chemistry, and like-minded thoughts about the past, present, and future of the family and everything. And people would have to understand, y'know.. the concept. If those hurdles could be jumped, then I'm open for that to happen.

Fine with no time warpers because Ryanti isn't one And yeah, he'll probably be forced to go, even if he didn't want to! So expect me. I might even volunteer for moderation, we'll see. I have the potential to make that IC too.

Necro thread aleerrrtttt! Yoshi said there probably will be a RP server. And as far as the RPC as an organization, it seems too much of a stretch for me to imagine the entire RPC as an IC identity. Especially with all of the diversity going on here. I'm happy with it being just OOC. (And perhaps spoken of in IC as a parody or a running gag or something.)

Jeese, I think your first impressions on MMO RP's were pretty bad, lol. But I believe your previous experience with RP will help you in this case. Anywho, welcome to the community. Let's get started on that whole friends thing. :bouncy:

Bear Paradise... ... That's what I do.

Wonderful responses so far. I'm enjoying everyone's input. It's also relieving to see that I won't be alone either. :moogle: I consider myself a huge PvP'er, (RP-PvP minority yay!) and that's one of the major things I'm looking forward to in ARR, besides the labyrinth (Endgame dungeons, what have you). Although I will be starting back at level 1, I'm looking forward to doing everything with you guys, not just RP. Because we're a community, right? Also, a question that I'm adding onto this current question, I heard there was some kind of.. gambling/casino area being planned? Where one could play slots and card games and stuff? I heard there was going to be something similar to poker? I'm definitely going to be playing cards a lot if that's the case as well.

Next question! Beyond RP, which I will be doing, obviously, I'm considered a man of many colors when it comes to MMO's. I RP. I PVP. I OOC. What I mean by that is, I alternate. Usually, when I log into a MMO, I'm with friends whom I either talk to in guild chat (in this case, LS.. ) or do things with (quests, raid, crafting, pvp, etc.). Sometimes I go on general chat and just live it up, sometimes I meet new people, sometimes I *dot dot dot* whatever. I noticed a lot of members here are heavy, heavy roleplayers. Some wouldn't even be OOC at all, ever. While I have to say that while I RP, I RP really heavily, which means I get really into it.. I can't say I will be IC ... all the time. In fact, I will be IC, when I RP. But I won't be, when I'm not. There's RP. But then there's my MMO social life. My MMO social life and my RP are two different beasts, and both need attention. I don't just play a MMO for the RP. I could log on and play all night and log off without RP'ing if I get no opportunity to (call me an opportunist). That leads to me sticking my neck into OOC stuff like what you would expect. Raids, PvP, LS stuff, PvP, events, PvP... PvP. How much are you all going to be invested into such OOC stuff? I'd like to know, mainly because I'd like to see who else is going to dive into that stuff with me. 'Cause, y'know.. it would suck if I was only one..

[video=youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGzjvzy65Nc Though seriously, Ellie, I can't thank you enough. You truely have blessed hands, and now I don't have to have pictures of others on my avatar or for references sake.. now I have something I can call my own. So yeah. :moogle:

Don't worry; you'll get plenty of time in 2.0 to roleplay and start getting all associative with your character. It's not as creepy as it sounds. I've gotten really close to my characters in other forms of RP.. so I'm already not as creepy as I sound.
-
Ah, didn't think about that. Well I never made any progress with RP in 1.0 so I guess that's the difference there. Psssssst, you should probably change your avatar. It's from beta, NDA and all. Ah, Jesus. Really? Fine I'll change it back. I didn't get it from there though.

I might have missed this and it's probably on the site already, though if it isn't then, yeah. Is there like a... new content tab? Where you can see all of the posts made since the last time you visited?

You can check my body the wiki! /points south north. I agree with him. Mostly. Except for the.. oh nevermind. But yeah, it might be best to check out the wiki and see what we've written on there as examples of the kind of people that we come up with.

What I love about this dev team is their ambition. What is lacking in today's MMO dev community is ambition. The desire to say that anything can be possible. I've heard way too many 'it's too hard' statements from other teams but Yoshi here.. he's ambitious as hell. And I love it. But there's one question... WILL YOU BE ABLE TO LAND THE AIRSHIP ON THE CARRIER?!?!?
-
I figured since everyone is doing it because I have questions of my own, I said to myself 'Ryanti, you need to start a question thread too!' I thought it was a great idea to categorize my questions about RP and game stuffs. My first question: As we know, the class systems in ARR allow for one character to max level in any class he/she wants and switch out at any time. Let's say longevity catches up to your character, and you find out that, holy crap, you have 4 classes to max level. How would you RP that? The easy way out would be to just say, oh, he/she learned the style of 'x' or learned 'x' magic or.. y'know.. followed that field of study. But I can easily see it going overboard and everybody being proficient at everything. What I normally do is give my character a primary field and then like.. have him be proficient in a few other things with less emphasis, and then leave it from there.

Am I the only one that thinks starting over is awesome? It's a MMO that's reborn. Starting at 50 would kind of.. kill the process for me in regards to playing a whole different new game. I believe even if I was 50, I'd start over anyway, just because to me it's a whole new game.

Brazil, huh? People of the RPC come from all walks of life... Welcome to the madhouse. Leave your hat and coat at the door, but keep your hair. I wish you the bestest of best times here! As for your question, this is a lil' awkward, but ^^;.. what do you mean by benchmark?

Hey guys. Good ol' Ryanti here. So yeah... I'm very bad at asking things ^^; but.. here it goes. So I decided to start my Wiki today. I spent a few hours in front of my PC and did most of my character's family's backstory. One of the things I always tend to gravitate to when it comes to MMO's is the history. I am fascinated by the passage of time, and how the passage of time advances people, makes people progress, and the sensation of writing about many, many years gone by has led me to do something really ambitious for my character. I'm not just really making the wiki about my character, but I'm also making it about the history of my character's family. (Whether or not that will be eventually a separate article is unknown at this point.) This is my first wiki I've ever made and I'm already now just beginning to realize the ambitiousness of what I'm doing. But it isn't like I don't want to be ambitious, quite the opposite. It's just, I realized that I sacrificed being able to complete an assignment tonight so I could post the information I could. I realized that, y'know, I'm a college student. I can come up with the story, but when it comes to trying to edit the whole thing in regards to certain tasks, I can only do so much because I have to manage time appropriately. Here's the link to the wiki: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ryanti_Veanysus Now, I'm a relative newcomer to the Final Fantasy XIV history and lore. I've only recently begun to dig in it. I managed to get a hold of the vague timeline, and have recently read the detailed timeline you guys have here. With that being said, I've written down a great lil'... idea, of what I want to do with the family, mostly about the history of it and the effect it has in the every day lives of Eorzea. But.. I don't know how it 'sounds'. Basically.. I don't know what... 'fits'. My philosophy is to bend the lore as much as I can before it breaks. That's what I'm trying to do with this. I'm also trying to make this storyline interesting, and openly accessible for anyone to participate, even to play family members if so desired. I want it to be able to be a story where it would be easy for others to either get interested or participate or get involved somehow if they want to be involved with my character IC in that form or fashion, or intertwine history. But I need help. So.. I guess, if anyone would volunteer to look this over in the least, and tell me what I can do to make it sound more appropriate to the lore? What I can do to make it better? Or help me work out the cobwebs and allow these ideas to blossom into something spectacular? I feel like I'm a little... overwhelmed, and I need a little bit of guidance and advice and just, y'know... a hand to grab me if this thing starts swallowing me whole.

Well, you could technically say you legally changed your name, I think. I tend to incorporate those tiny little life activities into RP I suppose. But I still wouldn't recommend doing it. It's just kind of, I don't know, weird. I can't find a better word for it. But it's not professional work.. Unless there exists professional work about friendship and love and community bonding. Professional.. socializer?

There's Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube. Which was the #1 Tales game for a very long time. In my opinion I would put it right underneath Vesperia. However, older Tales games are hard to get by and might cost a bit much.. I got mine for $72 (Symphonia) in like.. 2009? Hell, Vesperia still goes for $30-40 4 1/2 years later.
