  1. I came back for the final world-ending event, when Dalamund fell. I was there for the few days that the staff allowed normal non-legacy members to reactivate their account. The most important thing I could say, was... do you know what Armageddon feels like? The entire situation felt extremely dire. I saw Garlean airships fly across the night sky, the intimating Dalamund rock breaking atmosphere, giant processions of military battalions and people of all flocks, ages, and genders picking up what weapons they could feel and all taking positions in the cities and where the battlefield was in ready for the fight of their lives. The music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZITw3Ub-K0 Imagine hearing that during a thunderstorm with Garlean airships everywhere. ) Was incredibly atmospheric in giving me a sense of dread, a sense of lost hope, a sense of every man woman and child holding a gun in their arms. Kind of like on the brink of losing a world war, except the war was against the world. It was really a sense of, everyone knew they were going to die, the situation was incredibly dire, there was huge mobilizations and I had the sensation that I was a single individual that was scared and nervious as hell like a little child, but knew that I had to do something, I had to not just die. I had to do something and die doing something. OOC'ly, it was the best moment I've had in a MMO since Star Wars Galaxies. I mean.. people logged onto the server for the first time in years like myself and.. the entire server (I was on Balmung of course) unified. It was an entire community effort. I last saw that in Galaxies almost ten years ago. People were marching. Marching. Entire guilds with hundreds of members marched. Giant processions of people marched. In all directions, to all of the cities and the impact zone. I was a part of that too. Surreal. And then the hoards came. So that was how it was. Really surreal. Blew my mind. Props to Square Enix for making it so atmospheric. It was incredible. It REALLY felt like the end of everything. The world, your life, everything. Armageddon. I wish I could live through it again.
  2. I think it's way too much of a thing against somebody for them to consistently switch jobs and do whatever. At least by my standards. I'm not going to RP all the time. Realm Reborn is just as much of a MMO opportunity as it is for a RP opportunity to me. OOC'ly, I'll be doing and experimenting with a bunch of things. I'm not going to let RP hold me back in experiencing the game in entirety. I'm going to be doing a lot of OOC stuff, but when I'm RP'ing I'll be what my character is. Besides... hell, I don't know what I'm going to have fun with class wise, job wise... I'm thinking of Paladin right now, but what if I turn out to despise the Job? What if I like Warrior more? Etc. It's things you gotta think about. Now, I will say that while leveling Gladiator, Berserker, and Conjurer, I will be RP'ing as if I'm training to become a Paladin in the sense of getting used to different weapons, and magic itself as part of the training. That should give me enough time, realistically, for it to make sense of Ryanti becoming a Paladin. I'm not, however, going to spend literal months/years becoming something if it holds me back time-wise. (I'm a college student. Time management.) If I put in enough work to level those classes and the game recognizes me as a Paladin, I believe that to be enough. I'm not a casual. But there's such a thing as too hardcore for me, to the point where RP becomes a parasite. It just seems to me like making a big deal out of a little deal. Ryanti is eventually going to be a Samurai. But not right now. This is a stage of his life, and Samurai is going to be the next. I decided to take the situation of me not being able to become Samurai from launch, and turned it into a way for Ryanti to evolve as a character. When that class comes out, however long it takes for me to level.. I'd probably have to level stuff like Pugilist or something anyhow.. regardless of all that, there will be a good amount of writing of what happens between Ryanti discovering the art, and him becoming one. I'm not going to just have it happen in a snap.. But at the same time.. months? Maybe. Years? No, lol. You're not bound by the game mechanic. At least I think so. I see nothing bad about speaking of talents without switching jobs. It's silly when you think about it IRL. I don't have to dress up in a baseball uniform with a bat and helmet to tell people I'm good at baseball. It's just silly. For the less extreme examples, sometimes it's more convenient to write things out then bother with modifying game mechanics. Especially if it's something as little as a job change for.. y'know.. shooting an arrow or something.
  3. If they go the LOTRO way, it'll split the community in half, and slowly leech the old (us) community until there's no one left.
  4. That's a generous assumption of what's going on in that No-Man's Land. A very generous one.
  5. Skype name is bain-striker. Feel free to allow me to assimilate.
  6. It's just one of those weird porn things that makes no sense but they do it because it's so over-the-top and excessive. I think very few people actually find it attractive, but it's a good shorthand for 'this is super porny'. I find it attractive. But not as in actually looking at the spit and being hot for it. Mostly just because the meaning is implied that the two individuals had just made out, or... had a reaaaallllyyy long kiss. Or are doing mouthplay and got a little riled up. Imagining the above is why I find it attractive. It's sort of the spark that kickstarts your imagination.
  7. Waiting for the ever so much stupidly delayed PSO2 (Seriously I played the freakin' beta last June! :dazed: ) Localized, of course. Also have my eye on Elder Scrolls Online, mostly 'cause.. I love Elder Scrolls, and that's a dream come true for me. (However, my last dream come true ended up being TORtanic.. )
  8. The animations they added to WHM were a huge deal for me! Considering how we used to basically just stand there and move one arm it's awesome to see them whipping the staff around with the wind blowing the robes and stuff.~ If the camera panned a little bit more, you would of seen the giant fan. :cactuar:
  9. As in Balmung being labeled a RP server before launch?
  10. I've had access since the first Alpha Phase. Also, my character from 1.0 is probably going to get deleted; my highest level on him is 11, needless to say I realized I wasn't getting my money's worth and never came back. I just assumed that I'd be treated as if I had bought the CE before because I have. CE buyers from 1.0 had early access. I can't afford pre-ordering. Not in my financial situation. I just despise falling behind. Meh. Guess I'll be absent for that week. But you're right. It is indeed very generous of them to offer the client free to all whom came before, and $30 for those who didn't.
  11. That is... awesome. The fact that the devs are implementing things for minority groups such as us. That's a show of care and respect for them and I give it right back to them. Somebody has to teach me how to make macros now. :moogle:
  12. I honestly couldn't tell you. Kinda came out of left field despite the rumors. There should be some form of informative post on the Lodestone I suspect?
  13. Can't get early access because I'm not Legacy? Even though I have the 1.0 CE? Wow, that's... harsh. I mean, I know Legacy people get a bunch of perks, but I would imagine buying CE at launch would at least mean I get to play on the 'real' date it launches.
  14. Oh, I was saying your computer was fine. Probably even if you did run it on that res. I'm fairly sure. But perhaps it would be better to run it on a lower res. That and it being windowed will equal a huge boost in performance. Though I wonder why you have 16 gigs of RAM? I believe anything over 8 would be a bit overkill.
  15. Beta testers as of this time now, can only discuss character creation, and Gridania. Nothing that wasn't made obvious by Yoshi in the newest Live letter.
  16. Of course, the ceremonial :cactuar:. Welcome to the RPC. 8-)
  17. I think those Benchmarks are extra cruel, considering that a result like that usually means unless you're PvP'ing with 300 people, it'll run just fine.
  18. I, at first, thought, "Oh... so the beginning of June is the middle of June... " But after thinking about it, considering that I'm having surgery on my hands, that would be fine. It would give my hands time to recover. 8-) And I better see the lot of you at Phase 3, no?
  19. Kylin, I hope you got help with that, lol... that seems like a ton of work. But awesome job. That's a really enlightening piece of work. Maybe I should of answered more polls then I did, lol.
  20. I agree on Aysun's analyzation of the Paladin's animation. It seems like the Paladin studders a bit compared to the smoothness of the Warrior and especially, the Monk. Worries me a bit since I'm shooting for that Job. Other then that, astonishing animations.
  21. I am equally interested in what ideas you have regarding the dark element you mean in this LS. Feel free to consult with me about it. I'll follow your progress.
  22. Good news, I absolutely loved that video and am pleased that this game finally has a concrete release date. Bad news... it's right when college starts again.. which means minuscule free time for me.
  23. Time to play the game, Ryanti. "W-what kind of play are you speaking of?" Well, I've been gone for forever. Might as well owe this guys a picture. "I have a bad feeling about this... " First, a portrait! Circa before haircut! And now, a second picture! Of me being bored in class! What artistic gesture! ... I got a little bored. And of course Ryanti enjoys the spoils of war! No it's not a Klondike bar...
