  1. Ryanti would probably be either a CIA Agent or a Company Spokesman.
  2. Prince Arslan. He's concerned for a great many things Ryanti is.
  3. It's happened to me before. This kind of thing is a very racy, and dangerous social situation to deal with. I despise every waking moment of it, but it happens. Luckily, it hasn't happened in this game to me. But usually, if someone else and I just can't get along, and things are getting toxic, unless my character's relationship with the other person affects other people, I would basically cut it off. And I don't mean IC. I mean OOC. I would respectfully choose to cut off contact, and write around the reason why. Then I would label that plot as a loose end and move on. If it affects others that you still enjoy rp'ing with, I would talk to them about it. If they're worth RP'ing with more, they'll work around your situation. Remember, your mental health > any obligation you have IC. We're all here doing this to forget our problems and worries and have fun with our free time. Don't let it become a personal nightmare.
  4. I remember them mentioning something, but I forgot about what they said it was supposed to be. A black mage civilization or something?
  5. So I've always been curious about the very interesting Qarn normal mode description that it has in the game. During the description, it speaks a little bit about the findings of the scholars that have been excavating the sight so far. "Under the unforgiving Thanalan sun lie the ruins of an ancient temple half-devoured by the shifting sands of a timeless desert. Though used by ancient Belah'dians as a place to worship the sun goddess, Azeyma, the massive underground structure appears to be far older than this Sixth Astral Era civilization. That, however, did not deter Belah'dian sultans from each adding their own chambers to the original construct in a bid to achieve immortality through creation. In the subsequent years since the fall of Belah'dia, many an adventurer has sought to explore the temple's mysteries and perhaps return with the reassure of a loser era... only to fall victim to one of the complex traps set to prevent that very thing from happening." —In-game description The massive underground structure, and appearing to be far older than the Sixth Astral Era civilization. What exactly.. *is* this so called 'far older' civilization? Has there been any other mention of this? You have Ul'Dah, which is still around, then Sil'Dih, which was a sister state to Ul'dah. They formed a divide because of a succession crises in Belah'dia. Which seems to be the first and oldest civilization in that desert until this comes up. I don't think it's Allag. Allag is ancient on a whole other level, and this does not appear to be Allagan at all, or else I would probably be staring at an insanely-high technological chamber instead of what you see in Qarn. What does it mean? Do they refer to the Egyptian-style architecture you see or was that placed there by Belah'dia? Anyone have any speculation or clues?
  6. So this is my own theory, take it as you will because it's purely my personal opinion. I think the Dragoon being involved in Ishgard is because Ishgard has always been one of the main city states in the game, therefore having the job available to play despite the city-state not being accessible. The water based expansion might happen still. Though I think the logical order of things would be to march towards Ala Mhigo. It would be three years after the launch of ARR by the time the next expansion comes out. That's a long time to me. I couldn't imagine that we wouldn't be moving onto the other two great continents at that point. Ala Mhigo at least. Eorzea is the smallest great continent. It's by no means the majority of the planet's landmass. That belongs to Ilsabard and consequently, the Garleans. I always thought that first, we would head north, then east, traveling to larger and more 'world-center' locations with each expansion. If I recall in patch 2.2, Yugiri, while agitated and speaking about Doma's fall, mentioned that Eorzea has no clue what's going on in the world right now, which was a huge thing to say IMO because an entire nation fell and the Garleans went to war with itself and we had no clue. Said Civil War probably was the main focus of the civilized world outside of Eorzea, which is probably the majority of the civilized world given the landmass comparison. Most of the Garlean Legions are stationed in Ilsabard and Othard, where Doma was. If you combined those two landmasses together, that dwarfs Eorzea completely, and I assume there's a good bit of countries out there, and of course the enormous Empire. I can compare it to Britain and France going to war in the 1700's, and us being like British Colonials fighting the British in America during the same time. Just like the British, the Garleans only sent a fraction of their army: Two Legions. I don't know how many Legions they exactly have, but they have waaaay more than two. It took three city states to beat two Legions. Which is merely a fraction of their military and something that Ala Mhigo did all by themselves for a while before they surrendered. Hell, when Ala Mhigo attacked Gridania 100 years ago, it took Gridania, Ishgard, Ul'dah, and Limsa Lominsa combined to fight them off. So imagine how their continents look like compared to ours? I bring this up because I think Square Enix started us off with the smallest great continent, so that they could always move the game on to bigger and better things with each expansion. Bigger lands, more impressive landmarks, etc. I can't see it not heading in that direction unless they send us to an underwater city next. Or an island nation, like Radz-at-Han. They could be deciding to go every single bit of land that isn't touched by the Garlean Empire. In other words, I think the reason why they're highlighting the Dragoon is because of the coincidence that the Dragoon has always come from Ishgard, which happens to me where we're going now. Whether we go east, or west, or underwater next, it seems a much more solid decision to open up new land/areas rather than return to them.
  7. Oh, I do so love things like this! Expressing people with music is wonderful to do. Alright.. it's a real challenge to pick something out of my enormous library. But I think I can paint a picture with these. The Veanysus Family (Ancient: 676 - 1200's) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpPockyhhsk The Veanysus Family (Present) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yOhbA8DGkQ And finally... Ryanti Veanysus. His lyrical theme song, or his most all-around theme song (since I always seem to love instrumentals).
  8. Do the royal houses have any say? Is there some sort of chart I can look at?
  9. Thank you so much you two, for your responses! Aly, I already have knowledge to get a hold of you, thankfully. In this manner you're supporting my comeback, and I appreciate it. As for D'eshel, I'm very humbled. That's exactly what I want to bring to the table when people read my wiki and investigate my character. Thank you for reaching out to me, I'll definitely be looking around for you.
  10. I'm not sure if the Ascians are controlling Ishgard's people, or.. government even. But the religion? I believe that. I think the pope is a puppet to 'em. Or one himself.
  11. Back before I faded into obscurity, I was one of the guys that tended to write down rumors for others on their wiki, if I had any kind of RP with them that was deeper than a hello and a goodbye. I tended to enjoy leaving little presents like that on their wiki. Every once in a while, I would add new ones to mine. If I had an idea for filling up a certain spot in my character's backstory timeline with meaty info, I would add a rumor. Or if my character went through plot development and I felt like it could spread via gossip. I have no real way of being able to tell if anyone ever read the rumors I posted on their wiki, or how many people actually go out of their way to snoop on people's wikis and read/post rumors. I think it's a neat thing to do, though. I think it's quite pleasant to see that someone had posted a rumor about my character, and I like doing it for others too. So yes, I would endorse and encourage people to do so. I expect myself to write rumors about others if I participate in RP with them.
  12. Still awkward that they all just sat there while everyone was murdering each other. I would of at least tried to stop the violence.
  13. Somehow I have the feeling that by expansion, Ishguard will be more of an ally to the Scions than Eorzea as a whole would. Perhaps Gridania will follow (Because there's no way in hell Kan-E will not be a complete angel to the main character and others), but I'm not so sure about Limsa.. especially after Merlwyb completely and utterly decided to abandon Raubahn despite the fact that uhh.. she had a gun. Once again, emphasizing this, she had a gun on her. I'm quite bitter over that. Eorzea seems like it takes two steps back every time it takes one step forward. The whole planet is probably laughing at them right now.
  14. I figured that out when Mr. Evil Lala got brutally murdered. Like, brutally-eye-moving-kind-of-weird-because-he's-dead-as-hell murdered. I mean like the-shoes-came-off completely and utterly ultra dead. And then Raubahn got his FRIGGIN' ARM CUT OFF! :dazed: My face just went completely And I was like "Welp, this game is now rated M." And that was before the castration insult...
  15. So, now that I'm here once more, I'm definitely fired up and motivated to get back into the swing of things. Ultimately, my character has evolved and grown since I was last here, and now I'm going to re-introduce him back into this refreshing environment as well as myself! Ryanti is a man born to a Miqo'te Keeper woman, and a Hyuran Midlander man. He is the current heir of a long list of heirs of the Veanysus family, which has century-old roots in Ul'Dah, and even more ancient roots in Ishguard (There's sparse records of the Ishguard part though!). The family owes their larger-than-average sum of wealth on their family business, which began when the first of his family settled in Ul'Dah after the events of Sil'dih's destruction. (Which you can read more of in my wiki! Yay!) What kind of business is that, you ask? Why, the Veanysian Dinner and Flatware Company! Responsible for supplying plates, silverware, and glasses to restaurants, it's the goal of the Company to make sure every single restaurant, from high end getaways to mom and pop's tavern, always has a plate to feed a soul some steak, and a knife and fork to cut it! There exists some really wonderful opportunities to socialize and connect with Ryanti that way! Perhaps a business relationship is in order? Or perhaps the young Veanysus would be surveying your restaurant or your Free Company's minibar for a potential deal? Even to sponsor a banquet or something else involving catering a whole bunch of hungry ones? Heck, work for me! The opportunities are endless I say! Or maybe you're more into the military? Or enforcing the law? Stop, you've violated the law if you didn't consider doing some good ol' fashioned (Morally gray actually) police work with Second Lieutenant Ryanti Veanysus of the Immortal Flames! But perhaps you're into more of the... secret things. The hush-hush stuff. Spelunking deep into the earth to recover classified objects lost to the ages... making decisions on whether or not such technology or ancient magic should be kept from being brought into the wrong hands or... whether or not mankind would be better off without such devices altogether... the Men in Black of Eorzea, serving the Sons of Saint Coinach among others in complete and utter secrecy.. then perhaps Ryanti's undercover profession as the member of the Black Label Unit would be your thing! This is actually something that is still in the works by yours truly, and I am still working out the kinks to it. I will probably post another thread in here soon about my idea to gauge interest! On a serious note though, I would love to start meeting you all and having fun telling great stories with our roleplay. I consider myself a Mature Roleplayer as some say.. I am very content-friendly, no matter the content. I write what life is like. I like it that way. 16. Good catch about the 2nd and 4th. I also remember a few Brass Blades in the Ul'Dah starting quests during the level 15 range. There was a few bad apples, but also really good people. Like the Lalafell who became a Captain or whatnot in Horizon. I'm not exactly convinced that the 2nd and 4th didn't have a part in it, but there's certainly members of the Brass Blades that wouldn't do something like this, or are being forced to in fear of their livelihoods.
  17. Oh dear, a double! You know what this means... GROUP HUG! YOU GET A HUG! YOU GET A HUG! HUUGGGGSSS!!!
  18. Brianna: Your choice to play a blind character is a challenging one; a decision that is very commendable and earns you my respect.
  19. Hahaha! It's a funny thing to imagine. I think Ryanti would be very comfortable with being the Warrior of Light. Not because he's the most adept person for it, mind you. He'd probably be terrible at it.. he's not exactly a devout religious guy. But he would be happy about it, because it would give him comfort knowing that he had an important destiny. I'd imagine he'd be a hell of a lot less goody two-shoes. He would probably complete the same objectives with a lot more 'grey' if you know what I mean. Some significant figures might of died a lot earlier in the storyline.. (Looking at you, Livia.) His ambition might have twisted his good intentions along the way, though... he would be a lot more vulnerable to temptation than the stoic, normal WoL is depicted in the game. While he may not of turned evil he probably would of.. did things his own way, or the highway. Also, if Minfillia were to call him on a Linkpearl and told him he had to come back to Mor Dhona just for her to tell him something she could of told him via Linkpearl he would friggin' split her in half with that fancy sword beam Ascian-slayer thingie.
  20. Yeah, that makes sense. I'm gonna go ahead and go by that, then. I read the thread about Ul'Dah and 2.55. Apparently, rumors are rampant about something very bad happening/conspiracy. The higher-ups that know aren't talking, the Sultansworn don't know the truth (Based off of the Paladins), high ranking Flames *do* know the truth (At least some hint that they do, like Swift). So: 1.) Ryanti's father might/might not know something. (He's a retired Bloodsworn) 2.) Ryanti himself might/might not get word from his superior about something. (His entire livelihood right now is belonging in a classified unit.) 3.) His unit may/may not go dark. (Read above) 4.) The headquarters of his family business may have to re-locate. (HQ in Ul'Dah, but national across Eorzea). 5.) The family business might take a financial hit. (Apparently due to Consortiums falling apart). I'm just gonna wing it and go with that and intuition until I find out more!
  21. Okay, so, let me try to see if I can sum this up as bluntly as a I can so I feel like I kindamaybesortof understand this. 1.) People on all levels are hearing rumors of something bad happening in Ul'Dah. 2.) The merchant nobles/upper class know something bad has happened and might know the truth, but aren't telling anyone, anything. 3.) The Brass Blades, as an organization, are evil. 4.) The Immortal Flames oppose the Brass Blades. 5.) Normal Flames would not know the news, High Ranking Flames like Swift would. 6.) The Sultansworn are in the dark about what happened. 7.) Businesses are being shut down. Is that all right?
  22. I actually have some concerns about what I should do about this. I just finished the story, and I may need some advice. This may or may not have big implications for my character. Long story short, Ryanti's family is heavily invested in the marketplace in Ul'Dah with the family business, as well as his family having root in Ul'Dah for many of the more recent generations. They also have had multiple generations of his family members being in the military, the Flames specifically. Business-wise, I doubt anything would change. Subjugation is a painfully slow and drawn out process when it comes to an entire city state. So as far as the family business goes of producing and selling cutlery, flatware and tableware, I don't think that will be too affected by anything. Especially considering that it is branching out to other city-states, even though their headquarters are in Ul'Dah.. However... Ryanti's family is on the Royalist side, and Ryanti's father was a Bloodsworn before he retired. Would his father be at that banquet? I doubt it but... would he know someone who was? Would that mean Ryanti would know something? Perhaps. The Veanysus family isn't the wealthiest but definitely has centuries invested in Ul'Dah. Ryanti normal job is peacekeeping.. your every day routine enforce of Ul'Dah and it's property. Though, it would be more realistic to think that, in his invisible Black Label unit (Or his real job..) Ryanti would find his steady pace of mission prerogatives suddenly... stopping. As in, no one is giving him orders anymore. More suspicious is that my character had requested a leave before, but now he will notice that the orders aren't coming after the leave. What's worse is that I have been implying that the top secret unit that Ryanti is a part of, served as a more militaristic force that is ultra-secretive, that aides the Sons of Saint Coinach as well as Ul'Dah; as a joint force. I kind of have no idea what to do. If his unit is meant to serve the Syndicate now, that directly violates the protocol of Ryanti's unit. (As I am still in the middle of writing this unit out and I have ideas for a possible LS or something smaller.) I was going to make a thread about this eventually, but this riles things up a bit. So, currently speaking as far as my character goes, he is wondering... why aren't the orders coming? Why am I waiting longer than I should be waiting? Would his father know something? I have a question as well: Judging from the cutscenes, it did look like at least the area outside of Ul'Dah was quickly becoming an absolute riot. Is Ul'Dah rioting right now? Or was that all a temporary thing?
  23. Allow me to suggest a Limit Break for you, then! [video=youtube] Really though, your art is pleasing to the eye; I love the way you color. Keep up the good work.
