  1. There's something charming about Amh'ra's face. Hmm I can't put a finger on it but... your character's face has a pull to it. It's a soothing, positive pull. I like it!
  2. Now this is a man that I wanna have a beer with. No sober editing here. But in all seriousness, you're loved here brother.
  3. A lot of RP'ers take the approach of making their characters exactly the opposite of themselves, and yet other RP'ers prefer a more closer-to-self approach. For myself, I tend to view it as a way an actor would view a role. If you do something like... compare everyone who has played James Bond over the years, it's relatively the same character. But each individual actor adds their own flare to the role. That own flare really has to do with the quality of individuality. They add a little bit of themselves into the role. I tend to view my relationship of Ryanti as Ryanti being the same man he is right now if anyone else RP'd him. But because I specifically am RP'ing him, I add my own.. flare to it. Just like an actor would a role. That's how I feel about it, if that makes sense.
  4. We have links to these tidbits? I'm dying for AuRa lore. Swimmington Scalington Of Yorkenshire the 1st.
  5. I would like to see if I can change your perception on Miqo'te PC's one day. That being said, Highlanders do have a solid reason to believe that they are physically more 'buff' so to speak than most races except for Roe's, yes. They have a physical advantage in that aspect. Though I fail to see the physical disadvantage in the arms of a Miqo'te. Sure, Highlanders are more naturally gifted to build arm strength, but if Miqo'te arm strength is average, it doesn't mean they're weak. Likewise, if I'm built for endurance and leg strength, then I would utilize my greatsword as such. I would put my legs behind every swing, and go for momentum and attrition instead of relying exclusively on power. You don't have to be buff to handle one of those things, that's just how it's generalized.
  6. I can always expect C'kayah to have thoughtful and insightful posts in nearly all threads I come across, and I really enjoy reading what he has to say!
  7. That makes me feel a lot better about it, thank you. Sometimes I think I'm paranoid over these things more than I need to be. Ryanti's Miqo'te roots come from Ithard, not Eorzea to begin with, so even if he was pure Miqo'te.. well it's not even an Eorzean tribe! So yeah.
  8. *Purses my lips* Hmmm... Let me first disclaim by saying that Ryanti's preferences are a fickle thing, and are more of an ideal image of no one versus a picky view of his potential romantic adventures. But, as Ryanti is slender and athletic in the way of having a 'swimmer's body', I think he would prefer a woman with a similar frame. A woman that is equal in height, or slightly shorter. He prefers a woman that has quite a fill of body about her, versus someone who is petite and small. He has a thing for Hyur women, finding them to be the most accentuated to his tastes. Though he is not shy of falling for a Miqo'te either, especially if they have some height and body to them. Oh, and he likes depth and bubbles. Take that however you like. Ryanti can be attracted to men as well. He's.. pickier with them though. They have to be a shade of himself in some form or fashion, body-wise. More on the bishonen side.
  9. I'm going to need one today too... Things are just getting more and more stressful as I approach graduation, and finals time is coming too. I'm finding myself barely able to sleep anymore.
  10. I'm not really sure if it effects me or not. I have not noticed any kind of obvious sign that I have gotten less RP or... have been less appealing as a character because of it. But I will admit that it often haunts my insecurities very frequently when I introduce myself or... am RP'ing with new people. The thing is, I am well aware that my name does not follow naming conventions. I play as a Miqo'te in game, and I'm a Keeper, and I'm without a comma or a first-son-second-son thing. My name sounds exactly the opposite of what you would expect from a Miqo'te and 100% what you would expect from a Hyur or an Elezen. Now, the truth is my character is half Miqo'te/half Hyur, and was born in a Hyuran family that hasn't deviated from being Hyuran for close to 900 years. He's every bit his father's son and his mother has virtually zero connection with where she came from because they are from Islebard, and her father became Garlean and erased his tribe the old fashioned Imperial way before coming to Eorzea. He does have an Imperial name his grandfather gave him, though his mother cut off ties with him after being 'won over' by Eorzea's people shortly before his parents got married. Long story. He also probably has/would of had a Miqo'te name as well, if he could contact that side of his family somehow. But, Ryanti is Ryanti. There's every reason in the world for my name being the way it is, but I often get scared that people will look at it, scoff, and be like "Oh well he doesn't have a Miqo'te name at all, he must be a piece of shit RP'er not worth my time." They don't know what they don't know, but I still am insecure about it.
  11. I think there's two sides to this whole thing here. Some people wanna RP DRK for the weapon, some people wanna RP DRK for the DRK. Pretty much like that for every job, really. You could even use the main slot as an object. Take Conjurer. I've seen shit ranging from people RP'ing as holy-god-damn wizards, to people literally using the cane as a way to guide their walking because they're blind, or because they're old. I don't really think having a base class matters. Like with Lancer, you could RP as being a Woodwailer like the quests are, but you could also be a guy serving in an Ishguardian battalion. Or just a dude that knows how to use a spear. I personally welcome the DRK overlords, because now I will actually be able to make my character put both friggin' hands on his sword. *Sniffles* It's a big deal for me man.
  12. Ryanti's tastes in clothing have changed slowly over time and maturity. When I first started out, he had a tendency to gravitate to formal wear. This included coatees, biluads, and heeled shoes which almost always ended up in his ankles being sore after a while. While Ryanti still occasionally wears the garments of his privileged background, he has grown more accustomed with a life full of physical demands, such as travel, exertion, and the occassional swordplay and tomfoolery. That and it's just too much of a damn hassle. Because of that, he has gravitated more towards clothing meant for comfort versus extravagance. Ryanti's tastes are pushing away from Ul'Dahn influences considering that he loves to travel, and is quite fatigued of Ul'Dah after spending his youth there and never really being overly fond of it in the first place. He really seems to lean towards La Noscean style of middle class fashion nowadays, of course he could also be seen wielding a sleeved doublet or two if things are to get physical. He prefers soft fabric when he is at ease, since usually when he's doing his normal job he ends up wearing hard fabric (plate armor, chain or whatnot). He enjoys the flexibility and convenience of leather and other durable material when he's in the thicket of things, doing his not-normal job, or in a pit of nature out in some wild and remote corner of the land. Though he would always try to add some sort of element of comfort to it. Mentioning colors for a moment, Ryanti generally tends to lean more towards dark and potent colors, versus bright and vibrant ones. This is especially true with warm colors as Ryanti believes vibrant warm colors are 'too violent' for him to prefer wearing. He is more allowing with cool colors to be vibrant with them, though more often than not he just enjoys a wine red and an abyssal blue over those other more provocative colors. This is true except for one color which happens to be his favorite: white. With the color white, Ryanti enjoys a strong and vibrant white: a pure white. As far as the few things from Ul'Dah that Ryanti tends to still enjoy, I had always desired there be Kurtas in this game. I supposed the Oasis doublet comes close, but I would of love a more embroidered version to fulfill the purpose of nightwear/sleepwear.
  13. Sometimes, I have these moments where I am in either very deep thought, or very deep reflection. I generally have a funny habit of being unable to catch speech being thrown at me when it happens. I think by the seventh "I'm sorry - what was the last word you said?" people kind of get angry at me. I guess I'm scatterbrained like that sometimes. Also, when I have days off, I very rarely check my phone. Sometimes I put my phone somewhere random, like inside one of my drawers, and leave it there for a day. Or two. Speaking of which, I generally stash my phone in the most random places. I think the most random place I ever stashed it was on top of the fridge.
  14. Domri has the best damn facial hair in the business.
  15. I'm one of 'em. Thought I tend to use the winglet model without a shield. I'll probably play Dark Knight job-wise. Obviously I won't be one in the lore, just a dude with a two handed sword. I just hope that not all their models look like 500 pound buster swords like the artifact weapon.
  16. Get rid of my animation lock for Hallowed Ground. I swear. Or for the love of God, please make it where if it doesn't go off fast enough and I die, that it never goes off. Currently it just GOES OFF AWAY EVEN WHEN I'M DEAD. And then I have to wait seven years for the cooldown again smh.
  17. "While before, he was just a hunky, beefy farm boy fresh off the boat, it wasn't long before it dawned on him that on Eorzea, he could be anything he wanted. And what he wanted to be was fabulous." Best line I've heard in a wiki ever. lol.
  18. It would be wise for anyone facing misconceptions to always be armed with accurate data and resources to show people if they doubt your claims. For example, my characters fights in plate sometimes, and he also utilizes a two-handed sword in combat. Every once in a while, people accuse me that my character can't even move in his own armor without wheezing, but also that I couldn't handle my sword worth shit.
  19. Definitely when he was an adolescent and when I first started rp'ing. He's grown out of it now, but definitely before. I'm gonna guess this relates to you! Bahahahah. Used to be a lot worse, he's much better about it now, albeit still a lil' insecure about his Miqo'te side. From me, with love.
  20. Maybe. But people do crazy things when it's life or death. I'm more likely to think she did do something she hated doing, because she apologized beforehand.
  21. Being able to play so many characters is mind boggling, Nick, and something I'll never be able to do. Massive props! And also, I love the art on your wikis!
  22. The city just needs to have its filth purged with fire. How do you think Sil'Dih exploded? Ul'Dah's been like this forever lol.
