  1. Hm, Kest might be making her way to Coerthas for more training and answer with/from her teacher. Might be fun to have her contract this. John catching it might be harder since he feels like he wouldn't be of any help in Coerthas...though if John ends up having a face to face with Titro after he catches it then... Though this might be a bit of a blessing. True John won't be able to heal but it means that he can touch others without gloves and so won't see into the past/fall into Dreams.
  2. Kestlona doesn't have any trinket yet. Though I plan on her getting Alex's feather bandanna. John on the other hand carried his sister sunstone choker with him, which she was wearing when she was killed during the Battle of Carteneau. Also the book that hold Kit's spirit, which he stole from a merchant. The choker, I already planing out story ideas for it later.
  3. Oh, yes. The pair need to go out for Celebration drinks after the next successful mission with the Red Wings.
  4. John's cheek still burn from his mom's slap but his heart burn even more at his mother's words. 'Their fault.' He knew who 'they' were that his mother was talking about. He stumble into Pearl lane before regaining his footing and running into the Quicksand. He ran into several people as he ran, not even stopping to apologizes to who he might have run into. He slam his way out of the door, hop the railing, and almost landed on a Lalafell. He flee out the gates, heading for the one place that he had felt like he use to be before Tanya's death. He caught himself on the Grindstone, letting his head drop against it, and began to take in large gulps of air. As much as he should reach up and heal the red mark on his cheek, he didn't because he understood now that his mother wouldn't understand. He needed to heal and he couldn't...wouldn't let anyone put a restriction on it...not even his own well being. And neither of his parents would understand like Tanya did about the other aspect of his sense aether. He turn abit so that he could lean against the rock before sliding down to the ground. His eyes watch the foot traffic move across the bridge for a while before he fish out Tanya's chocker. He stare at the crack Sunstone, "I wish you were here, Tanya," he said. But Tanya was dead and wouldn't come back. The Grindstone was a blessing for him because he found people that reminded him of her. Warren and Sei for their fierceness, Cliodhna and her taking no crap, Brianna and her grace when she fought, and Berrod quiet stillness. Should he go to Warren and Sei about this....no, they might agree with his mother and he couldn't lose the right to attend the Grindstone. His big sister...no, she and Sir Erik were busy planning their wedding and he didn't even let his mind think about that Cliodhna might not see him as a brother anyway. Sir Erik might not like him bothering them such a small problem. He cring at going to Brianna, since the highlander didn't seem to like him every time he tried to heal her. Berrod had offer to be of help to him but he didn't know were to start looking for the highlander. He knew that he shouldn't be worried even when Clio had mention that she had been worried about Berrod not showing up at the Grindstone. Yet, the aether around his hand twitch and his gut twisted. Maybe he should go and look for the other...if only to have to have the highlander complain that John worried too much. He buried his face in his knees, trying to think on where to start looking for the other.
  5. Margret Waterstrike look her son over. He was still far to pale and that include Kit beside him. As a mother, she wants to bundle him back into bed and let him sleep off the rest of the healing that he had done at the Grindstone. Her hand tighten on her staff...Grindstone....the name was becoming a hated word to her because she could see now that it was killing her little boy. As a teacher, she had to put her foot down to this. "I talk to the Guildmaster and he said that he will gladly take you in as a student of Conjurery..." John's head snapped up. "NO!" Margret blink at her son shout of no. She turn startle eye to her husband, who was frown at their son. Then she realize that he had probably was worry about the clinic. "You don't have to worry about helping at the clinic. Mimi has come along nicely in her studies. She can help out while you're in Gridania..." "I said no, Mom. I'm not going to learn Conjurery." John point down at Kit. "We're been able to heal just fine without it..." "Heal...Heal..." Margret said. "You only killing yourself with this...ability of your," she said. She couldn't understand why he was acting this way. "At least with conjurery, the elementals will allow you to tap into the elements That will keep you from burning yourself out." "And what then, Mom," he said, pointing out the window. "I'll be beholden to the elementals. I can't...won't let let someone, especially the elementals, tell me who I can and can't heal. And if it means I die from healing then so be it." "Please be reasonable..." "I am being reasonable," he said, ears forward in anger through his voice still was quiet. "And to the hells with the elementals over their hold on who lives and dies..." His head snap to the side as a sharp pain flash across his cheek. Margret hand stinging snap her out of the anger that had well up in her at John's words. Horror rose up in her and she reach out to him, "john..." His ears and tail hung low as he turn back to her. His head hanging down to not meet her eyes. "I'll go and learn Conjurery...Mother...so it will make 'you' happy." He turn from her and made his way to the door of their apartment. "But know that 'I'm' not happy about it." "No wait John..." she began to protest but the door close with a soft click that sounded more like a bomb going off to her. Her staff drop from her hand and she buried her face into them "What have I done?" she sob. Then she felt herself pull into soft robs and strong chest. "We already lost Tanya...I can't lose him as well." She felt Thomas' lips touch the top of her head. "It's all 'their' fault...and it's yours for introducing him to 'those' people." "It's not..." Thomas reply. "He's growing up and finding his own way." He ran his fingers through her hair. "Just give him time...like you did with Tanya when she protest as well."
  6. Ah, I didn't even know you were there Titor. Would have been fun to have had John interact with you before his mom started on him learning other ways of healing.
  7. This sounds like fun. Too bad Kest only had a couple of meeting in game with Clio. And John already did the shirtless look at the Grindstone a few weeks ago. Don't know how you'll get John as one of the shirtless waiters, even if Big Sister Clio asked him nicely.
  8. I've been planning on having John join the linkshell but was waiting until the reboot to have him join. I'll see if I can catch you in game for a linkshell. Also, do you think Titor would be interest in studying the way that John heals. John is willing to try anything to give him more control over it, especially a certain aspect of being able to sense aether that he calls "Dreaming" and to not have to worry about not falling into it if he doesn't wear gloves.
  9. Yeah, I realize that the sign up was closed after I posted. Anyway, I'll be there and hey, now that John been through a hangover, he has at least an idea on how he can treat it....he hopes anyway.
  10. So I actually got some good news. I was suppose to close next Friday but one of the girls (opening cashier) needed Saturday off. She told our manger that if I agree with taking the shift, she would work closing Friday. Wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. So I got Friday off and will be about to attend this competition. Though John is sitting this one out. Hangovers are not fun. Anyway, he'll be cheering the other on.
  11. Yep, just as I thought. The computer put me in the closing shift again as a 10 hour shift. So I will not be able to attend this event. Have fun everyone and hopefully I'll get lucky (not holding my breath on that) and make it to the next one.
  12. John Waterstrike gave the bartender his thanks as he pay for the medical herbs his mother was waiting on. He turn around finding the stick with a linkpearl on the end. Where had he send this before. The blue-purple hair Miqo'te thought for a moment then remember this was the same Lalafell that he had 'run' into at the Gold Saucer. "I wish to apologizes for my rudeness to you, Sir Kali." John wasn't sure if the other would remember. "You try to interview me if I remember right at the Gold Saucer." He blushed a little. "I fear I'm not that good with loud noise and such colorful lights." At the question, John's face took on a thoughtful look. "I know that the city-states have not seen eye to eye but they came to us because their people are dying." His ears and tail drop, "I would go myself to help but I am still learning to be a healer. With no offense magic, I would only be a burden to those that I wish to help." A young Lalafell at the enterance to the Bobbing Cork. "Master Waterstrike. We have to hurry. The next airship leave in a bell and your mother will be mad if we miss it." "I'll be right with you, Lady Mimi." John turn back to Kali. "I'll take my leave of you, Sir Kali." He bow again to the Lalafell. "May your journey be a safe one." He turn and follow the young Lalafell, Mimi, out of the Bobbing Cork.
  13. So I was running roulette on Kestlona and got a good pug group. Well, while we were waiting for one of the group to get back from a quick afk, the tank spotted this below the bridge. Any idea about this. I haven't run hard mode for Tam-Tara on my main yet to know if this might be part of it.
  14. So I've finally gotten around to uploading the screenshots taken during the First Runestone event. It will probably be the last time that John will get to attend it for a long while (curse Sunday night workshifts). Here John is, arriving late, for the Runestone. Just make out the edge of Warren's armor at the side of the shot. If I get to attend another one, John may try to compete in it. Another shot, this one showing those that had gotten beat in their battle. Such great moments and John hate to see Leanne and Locke get beat. This is the last battle, between Isabelle and head of the event, Reiner. It was intense, especially since Reiner refused a Shell necklace to fight Isabelle. At the end, John came away with some knowledge of the difference between a weapon style injury and one that is inflicted by magic. Or at least he thinks so, until he runs into his first weapon injury that had aether enhancing behind the attack.
  15. So, as usually, I forgot to do the screenshots for Kestlona but I did get a couple while on John. This was taken doing the Moogle dance off. Where the Giant moogles came from, I have no idea. This one is an overhead view and before the other 4 of so dancing moogles came into play.
  16. *blinks in confusion* Um, not sure what you mean by that?
  17. Kestlona should be in the Gold Court in dress uniform (since I don't have the 105,000 gil to get the spring dress. Unfortunately, it's the Ul'dah soldier instead of the flame since I didn't have the seal to promote and to also get the Flame Private in the amount of time I had.
  18. I'll be there with Kestlona (if I still can't get the spring dress, I'll have her show up in dress uniform). Also, Kest might disappear for a little bit so that John can get some fun in/be a wallflower.
  19. Ah, would love to attend this, either with John or Kestlona, probably with John since he wasn't feeling that great during the Scholar event. I would put in the time to be off from work but I already did a lot of 'need to be off by such and such time'. I don't want to push it too much in case they decide that 'oh, well, looks like she can only do part time now'. The computer that sets up the scheduling is now putting me in 10 hours closing shifts (this sunday is 12:30 pm to 10 pm). If I get luck next sunday, he might be a little late for the event.
  20. Kestlona is only faintly sensitive, maybe enough that she could throw out a weak cure spell. If she had more patient for magic then she might become more sensitive to it. What's funny is that Kest gets a type of motion sickness because she isn't sensitive to the aether. Pretty much telepotering leaves her on her knees. It's why you would see her more often then not traveling by foot or on her chocobro(sp?). John his highly sensitive to aether but only able to sense it through his finger. Depending on how strong the aether is, might be what cause his "Dreaming" episodes. He wears the glove to try and cut the feedback he gets and to keep him from "Dreaming". He's able to use his own aether/energy to boast the healing in others. Thing is, I have a feeling that I need to find someone to teach him control, since I see it in my head that this kind of healing is where his sister got her saying from..."I'll heal you to death," though in her case, it's a joke to one of her old linkshell mates because the axe weilder was always getting into trouble. Any taker?
  21. TOO BAD. GET DUNKED ON, SON. Warren, quick check your Character Page. John's spreading rumors about you.
  22. Thanks Ojune for John first PC rumor. I giggle this morning when I decided to check on his and Kestlona pages. Oh, if only Ojune knew what John went through with the hangover he had the next day. His dad made him pay for getting drunk.
  23. "Bu..but...oh" he began only to almost melt in Clio's arms as Max began to heal his head injury. His eyes flutter close as he began to feel Max's own magic. 'So this is what healing feels like,' was John daze thought. The only sign that John hadn't pass out again was his ears twitching in time to the pulse of Max's healing and a faint green glow that began to surround his hand. It was a sign that John own magic was raising up to meet Max, strengthening the healing the healing that Max has started. He heard someone say "Down," and the he felt his body being blast by a powerful wall of wind. His head just missed the table leg and almost reopening the wound was almost finish healing. Instinct kick in, one glowing hand closing over Clio's hand that was holding onto the table leg. His other glowing hand closing on cloth that belong to one of the other three, as if trying to keep one of them from being blow away. There was a flash on aether from his hands, most likely leaving a buzz through whoever he had grab onto. The glove hands slip from their hold and John took deep breaths. He wasn't sure what had happen those few moments. **** Kestlona watch in morbid horror as the large armor 'man' stood up and then swung his sword down. The gust of wind at her back, almost knocking her onto Alabaster. She really what to curse the armor man out for that stunt but she readily admit that it did clear the air much faster then letting it cycle out on it's one. Now she got a far to good look at the injury that the Brass Blade has. "Hells," was whisper, and her fingers were already on the others neck, checking for a heartbeat. She wasn't sure if there was a beat but something had to be done. Kest pull out her weapons, using them as a focus, crossing the puglist weapon over each other. "Cure," she call out, trying to draw aether to her. Only a faint glow cover her weapons and she curse her lack of aether sensitive. Still this would have to work for the moment, repeating the spell over and over. Her eyes flicker to the doors as she call out cure again, where were the other Brass Blade, and why had no one else seem to show up. She knew that she wouldn't be able to keep this up forever, already feeling the drain on her energy. (ooc: update the post and added in Kestlona part as well.)
  24. Since the bridemaid dress looks Yuck on Kestlona and I don't have the gil to afford the Spring dress. You can pull Kest in for staff duty. I know I was looking forward to doing the spy stuff for the event but oh well. Maybe next time.
