We were all new people once here and it can be kinda intimidating. When I first started I only really had one person who rp'ed with me for a couple months. I understood that a lot of -older- rpers had time commitments but I wanted to meet more people. So I hosted a couple very large events to try and get myself involved in rp and it worked. I recommend any new player wanting rp to host an event. It doesn't need to be as insanely complex as some of mine were. Even a simple one, like a bandit raid, or sneaking into a Garlean base, or even just moving trade goods to another city can be a ton of fun. Have a plot and run with it. Even if you only get three people to sign up. That's three connections you just made. There is a section just for setting up events here on the rpc. Use it to generate interest and arrange times to meet. I know I did. People only have so much free time and when they get on, they often want to get straight to the rp, so often they go to in-game friends. But if you set up an event ahead of time, people know to be there and will clear their schedule to be there to rp. Jancis and Warren do this all the time with their events and people show up in droves and rp just happens cause people knew where to be. Being new sucks, and not being approached by -older- crowd rpers can seem disheartening but if no one comes to you offering rp, why not be the one offering the rp? If you build it, they will come.

Yeah...I'll be honest, used to use this website a ton. Once used it to organize massive world rp events. Was kinda fun. Then I disappeared for awhile cause RL stuff. Then I came back but am mostly just a lurker these days due to RL. And that's the thing. RL. We all have one. We all got enough RL shit going on that we don't need more online. I'm honestly amazed how angry people get on this site over things that don't matter. Seriously, Realm Rebron is a bunch of code made of 0's and 1's. Tomorrow a solar flare could happen, fry the power grid, and keep us from playing Realm Reborn ever again. It's all imaginary. People gonna disagree on lore stuff. Hells, the world is a mess because it's human nature to disagree. But we all climbed aboard the rp train, together. We are all -those- guys and gals other people who play mmos joke about. "The weird rpers." And that's the point. We are all on the same -imaginary- train and if you want to attack or snipe or be aggressive to another group or person, only thing that is gonna happen is you will derail the train and screw everyone, including yourself, in the long run. No one role-plays with themselves. That's called writing. Why intentionally alienate someone who might have rped with you? Just tossing that out there for the two cents it's worth.

Ki is a basic 5. Nothing particularly special. He shoots competently and can handle a simple fight but he's just a dude made of meat, muscle and bone. Jin'li on the other hand, yeah... once upon a time he was maybe a 6. Weak, sickly, and very, very weak physically, he was only dangerous because he was intelligent, but get him in a fight up close without any range and he was a dead kitty. But then rp happened, things happened, plots happened...and now, yeah he's a 1 or a 2. Now not because he has Dragon Ball Z powers, cause he doesn't. But he does have some-. . . well I'll stop there. I'd ruin the mystery and surprise if I said more. edit: Oh yeah, Askier. Solid 4. Brilliant, used explosives, solid in a fight if he had explosives, but just a meat bag like Ki in the end.

Darkness. Shadow. Nothingness. Freedom of all restrictions. These were the true states of the universe. The innate. The uncontrolled. The purity called chaos. Trapped outside the false walls of this "creation" it dwelt, pressing and pushing, chewing little tendrils of entropy into the small cracks it could create. It was the universe as it always had been. How it should be once more. Jin'li opened his black eyes as the bitter mountain winds tore as his black garments. Clouds hung low and a frigid wind howled out of them as the low pressure system battered itself upon the peaks of the north. The pale albino blinked and feasted his black eyes upon Ishgard sitting far and below in the distance. The hollow figure of Jin'li continued to stare as the ravens behind him cawed loudly as they continued to pick the meat from the bones of a dead figure, who, not moment ago, had had their soul torn from their meaty coil and hurtled into what waited beyond. The rumors coming from Ishgard interested the little miqo'te and as his black eyes continued to gaze upon the sealed city, dark plots were given life inside the blasphemous little miqo'te's vile mind.

Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward Opening Movie [SPOILERS FOR 2.55]
Askier replied to allgivenover's topic in FFXIV News
I didn't see a single shot of a mechanist....... soooooo over this video already cause of that. >.< lol -
Yeah, so people touched on this already and you got some good advice so I'll be brief. I use this in real life: "Is this thing that currently is stressing or pissing me off gonna be an issue in six months?" Seriously. Ask yourself that. 99 percent of the time the situation or problem isn't gonna be something that will bother you even three weeks down the road. And there ain't ONE thing that is rp or game related that is gonna mean a whole ton six months from now once you realize the shots are down range and can't take them back so gotta keep walking forward. Trust me as someone who once got broadsided by a load of people about something rp related. Long term, issue didn't mean a thing. Dust in the wind, baby.

How does your RL reflect into your character?
Askier replied to Branson Thorne's topic in RP Discussion
Huh. My characters are all cats. I do not have a tail or kitty ears irl. Askier had some similarities at first. Then he went insane and that changed. Jin'li, the emotionless, undead, genocidale valet, is the furthest from myself and I enjoy rping him the most because he is so amazingly alien to my own brain that I really have to think before each post. Feel I get the best rp out of him. Ki Grimsong is a back stabbing, money loving asshole. First two parts do not reflect me. But yes, I, like Ki, am a lovable asshole. Lol -
"Looks, it ain't like I enjoy this." the smug voice said with a sigh. The miqo'te shifted slightly and his foot shifted a smig to the left. There was a grunt of pain and S'kiear Grimsong, more commonly refered to as "Ki" turned his lone, black eye down to gaze at the hyur, whose head currently had the honor of being trapped between S'kiear's boot and the stone floor. The tan miqo'te flicked his ears while shaking his head as he looked back at the man's wife and two children, who had the honor of staring down the twin barrels of Ki's flintlock pistol. The five figures were all neatly contained in a small, wooden hut near Lower Limsa and the afternoon sun was spilling in through a window, accompanied with the smell of salty spray. "But, I was paid to come here and get something from ya. Guy who hired me said it was a book of some sort. Called...well its big, green cover. Probably magic. You know which I mean?" Smoke was wafting around the miqo'te's head. A smoldering cigarette burned hot in his mouth and the scent of mint filled the miqo'te's nose and lungs as he drew the twin hammers of his pistol back for dramatic effect. His left arm was in a sling currently, but Ki had been quick enough, when the man had opened the door just a few moments ago, to get his boot onto the man's head. Hyur wasn't exactly a fighter. Ki pegged him for a scholar at best. "I..." the man started and trailed off as Ki whistled softly, smoke wreathing his face, casting him in a diabolical light. "Be very careful with ya words, mate." Ki spoke in a smug purr as he eyed the hyur's family. "I'm here for the book and I got two bullets. Bright side is I can't kill your whole family. Just two of 'em. See where I'm going?" Ki paused to inhale smoke. His body, clad in a long, blue coat and black paints, shivered slightly as he went on: "So, last time, really. Where's the book? Or I kill you all and look the hard way." "Wait!" the hyur shouted. "How much they paying you? I can double it." Ki's tail started twitching in excitement as the rest of him froze. His black eye looked down at the man as his other eye stayed hidden behind an eye patch. "Well, not -exactly- what I was expecting, but-" Ki shrugged. "Music to my pointed ears. How much you got?" "Enough to double." the man gasped underneath the boot. Ki rolled his eye. "Naw, you give me all ya got and pray to the Nine it's enough. I like this better." The hyur male was silent a moment and then gave in. "Let my wife get it from the cupboard." the hyur said in a defeated tone. Ki nodded and looked at the woman. "Chop chop, madam. Your lover here wants to make me rich." Ki crowed triumphantly. Oh if looks could kill. The female was glaring at the male with hatred in her eyes. But she nodded and slowly disentangled herself from the children. She inched towards the cupboard and then turned. She opened the doors and then spun. In her hands was a small crossbow. She went to pull the trigger as Ki recognized the threat. The miqo'te swore as he threw himself backwards. "I ain't getting paid enough for this." -Two Days Later- Ki was sitting at a table in the Bismark, overlooking the Limsian Bay. He was smoking, as usual, and enjoying a glass of red wine. The setting sun sparkled off the waves and the mercenary found himself almost feeling bad for the fact that he had made two little orphans simply so some elezen could get his grubby little hands on a book of all things. Almost. Ki was an asshole. But a rich asshole. And Ki was okay with both of those things. Because there were things only money could buy. And Ki had very expensive things to buy.

The boy had bought the gunblade in the ghetto's of Limsa. The hyur lad with dark hair had needed something, anything. And the white haired miqo'te that had sold it to him had been so willing to help. So...kind! How rare a thing. To have parted with such a fine weapon for only a handful of gil... The boy could have cried if he wasn't so gripped by terror and fear. Fear for his sister. The bastards had her. They had taken her last night from their small apartment down by the docks because they couldn't pay the protection money. They were gonna take her, enslave her in a brothel, get their money that way. He had to kill the two brutes. He knew where they would be. Its where he always delivered their weekly protection payments. But this time, this day, the boy was going to pay in bullets. He had never used the weapon before, but he knew it was point and pull trigger and stab. The boy's heart hammered in his chest, lungs filling quickly as he ran through the streets. He came to the small door. A sign in weathered paint said it was closed. The boy's boot disagreed. The boy kicked the door open, tearing the latch off. Two figures turned, shouting in surprise. The boy didn't stop. He aimed the silver gunblade and was screaming as he pulled the trigger. So great was the boy's blood lust that he failed to see the rune etched into the side of the blade glowing a dull purple as the weapon fired. He failed to see the flashes of ethereal light that glinted for the briefest of milliseconds as the bullet hit before the hint of something sinister and magical was lost as blood erupted from the men's bodies. The gun shots subsided and there was screaming from inside the hut. One of the men was only wounded, not dead, but the boy was stabbing away with the blade, blood oozing over the floor. On the roof of the building, a crow cawed triumphantly as it's glowing red eyes says the dead souls departing for the afterlife. The birds glowing red eyes saw as the souls were seized up and kept from crossing into Nald'thal's domain and locked away. The bird cawed again and took to the skies. There were others weapons with the rune circulating through Eorzea now, and there were so many souls to watch die.

How do you handle RP when it takes a bad direction?
Askier replied to Renata Turner's topic in RP Discussion
One Hooray IT Crowd reference above! Lol. Two As most people have said, just walk. You don't owe a stranger a thing, especially your time. So they wana do the creep, you can z-snap strut your way otta of there. Ic, OOC, no one will care except the person making you uncomfortable but its your character so tough. No one can do anything to your character you don't want. Though from personal experience there are some.people who will nag you so hard and so incesantly you'll stop logging in for awhile. Just have to stick to your guns and keep your ground. Eventually they either get the hint or you ignore them. -
Ki Grimsong blew mint smoke from his mouth as he read the story with his lone, black eye. "So a dead person is dead, how is this story even -noose-? Hopefully the paper won't leave us hanging too long and cut this journalist loose." The miqo'te tossed his paper over his shoulder and left the Quicksand without paying for his breakfast.

This is for pretty much anyone who dealt with Askier. Tribute. 6mEx9FtuN0k

Hmmm. Well I've had a lot of awesome things occurs -later- in my rp with people. Problem is a lot of my rp start off so friendly! Well except for when Askier met Jana, Osric, and Kahn'a for the first time. Askier was totally just relaxing in Vesper Bay with Delial and Torken, just enjoying the sunset and totally not trying get a bomb part when those three show up with a few others and proceed to beat the ever living shit out of Askier. I mean Jana smashed Askier's eye with a book, Kahn'a shoot Askier in the knee and ruined his dream of being an adventurer, and Osric struck from the shadows like the coward he is. I mean if it hadn't been for Drumstick saving Askier, he might have gone to jail then. And, although it wasnt as violent, I got super excited first time I rped with Delial cause she was hilarious. Managing to insert awesome one liners into her descriptive paragraphs. I try to mimic her writing technique from time to time cause I like it so much, especially when rping her brother. And Erik Mynhier was a blast to meet. He and Askier had a total Batman versus villian game going on and taunting each other. And then Askier danced with Siha just to piss Erik off. Good times. Though the most unique was when I met Grieving Hound. Askier and Hound decided to go slaughter gnolls and for like two hours we rp/leveled by murdering gnolls and went and got beer after. Then they got preached at by Helix Fossil. I miss that lalafell lol. And I met Alexei who stabbed Askier. So many painful first times lol.

((Taken from a Skype chat- user names removed for privacy)) Other: Yeah Ki is a major asshole. Me: I think he's cuddly. Other: No he's a dick. Me: Well he has one. Other: What does that have to do with anything? Me: Well if you were as hung as him, you'd be -cocky- too. Other: Please stop. Me: I mean he loves Gil, not like he is -hard- to please. Other: Do you have an off switch? Me: Naw, like Ki, I'm always turned on Other: Oh come on! Me: Come on what? Other: Damn it! Me: Guess you say I'm full to bursting when it comes to puns. Other: I take it back. Ki isn't the asshole, you are. Me: Hehe asshole. That's too easy. Other: I HATE You! Everything I say! Me: Do you wish me to be kind? Other: Why can't you be like Jin'li and kind all the time? Me: Because being annoying is more fun.

Well for Jin'li, life is his enemy so if you are alive, he will kill you. But kindly. Ask Franz. For Askier we had: Delail Grinding. Soooooo much was she the person he loved to hate. Kahn'a Od'hilkas: They were friends and then their relationship degraded into bickering and stabbing each other all the time but still working together and hanging out. Cats are weird. Grieving Hound: Another friend turned enemy, mostly cause Askier suddenly hated roes after he went crazy. For Ki: Yeah pretty much everyone wants to at least punch him.after he gets three sentences out.

Well, because I was inspired by Kokonoe from Blazblue, and the backstory is heavily tied to her being a Miq'ote, and I'm too lazy to change, also I would find fun, considering a Miq'ote being a Garlean would be really unexpected. And because I want to do a Miq'ote that's not from a tribe =U Franz knows -three- Garlean Miqo'te by name. What's so weird about there being more? ontopic: I could be interested in this, depending on the LS plans. How would a Garlean kicked out of Garlemald fit in? Don't ruin my mood Franz. DON'T RUIN MY MOOD FRANZ W-wha? It was supposed to be encouragement! Aside from one of them (now), Franz likes the Garlean cats. Don't I rp two of those cats? Rofl.

Well saw the title and then that I was mentioned so now I have to reply. Lol. Askier has, had, a magitek arm after his left one was blown off by a explosive saving Roen's life. The process of getting the new arm was a lengthy one involving rping stealing some from a castrum, learning with Alexei how install one in character, and then having Alexei perform the surgery to install the mounts and wiring needed to use the arm but it ended up working wonderfully. Let me toss a few things out. One, due to the increased weight and fact that Askier can't feel the limb at all, it greatly impeded his ability to fight so basically he's not any good up close anymore. One thing worth thinking would be having your character train with it. I had a lot of fun rp sessions with Alexei about maitainence and training. Note, it takes years for the limb to become truly synced to the body so you'll have keep that in mind. Askier was afraid to grab stuff for awhile cause he had trouble opening the hand and he still has to visually look at the arm to move it. Also, consider how disguised you want the arm. I never had Askier disguise the magitek limb other than a long sleeve and a glove but I believe Merri has a fake set of skin on his. I've had a few rp sessions where the magitek limb made him untrusted IC. And, since it was mentioned, I -did- have Askier install a six round cylinder, barrel, and firing pin into the arm once he had it attached for awhile. Askier likes explosions and him not putting in basicall gun blade parts seemed out of character. Lol. If you've met Askier you know what I mean. I know a fellow poster said it could be overkill but if you balance it correctly and rp and don't use it every moment, its can work.out well. Its the only way Askier could easily defend himself anymore and since he was violently tortured once, he never wanted to be unarmed again. Personally I don't think a hidden blade or gun is that op considering you could have a hidden gun blade or knife on your character normally. (See Assassin's Creed games) Hope that helps at all and if you have any more questions feel free to ask me. I also know Merri is -the- engerneiring guy so you should definatly ask him too, I just make stuff go boom IC really. Also Alexie does have extra limbs he and I stole IC if you need one and he can do the surgery if you need someone to help install it IC.

The man was dressed in all white and would have cute a clean figure. But he was covered in blood. Lots of it. His arms, hands, and chest were all crimson. But it was not from a murder. The man had just delivered a new born into the world and the hyur was grinning like a fool, his bearded face taking on a kind expression as he heard the babies cry silence into sleep. The babe was a healthy girl and both mother and child slept as the doctor collected his belongings and lefts the room, his bag in hand. He stepped out of the hut at the edge of the water. The gathered family looked at him and the hyur smiled and nodded. "It's a girl and she will live. Both of them." An excited cheer went up from the crowd and several people walked forward to thank him. When the doctor had arrived, the woman had been with complications. The child had tried to come out feet first. But the doctor had managed with his skills, to change the babes course and save the mother. All in all the hyur was pleased. He quietly excused himself and began walking away from the crowd after he gave them instructions on how to treat the woman. They already knew, he assumed. Children were spawned like flies here in this part of the land. But no matter. The road back to his home followed the ocean and he had made a good deal of progress before he suddenly stopped as a black raven flew down, dropped a scroll off before him and took to the sky. The doctor blinked behind his glasses at the spectacle and, after a moment of indecision, picked up the letter. He looked around and, with bloody hands, unrolled the letter. He read the first four lines and then hurled the document away from him before he looked at the raven that was staring at him with glowing red eye from a nearby branch. "Hello, Doctor." the bird cawed. The hyur turned and ran.

Ton of people I'd like too but have almost zero in time game to do so. But... Gharen Wolfsong would be one. C'kayah would be another. Need more time with Warren. Verad. Berrod All of Kiht's and Maia's FCs.... and many more. But I'd just like to have chances to rp when I can lol
-
Always wondered, does casting "Cure" enough times remove them?
-
Jancis only swears on the grace of the Twelve. She had some beautiful words for Jin'li though. ...I wish I logged them. If those words weren't along the lines of:: "Kindness", "Kindly" or "Would you kindly..." Jin'li is disappointed in Jancis' unsaviour words. Lol.

Did they never erm...burn...the body? I believe Franz knows someone who would be comforted by Iglu's visit. edit: She'll be checking if people got "first prize", or something. Well the belief is she did, a pile of ashes left where she was.. .but they were in a place with urns aplenty and a bait and switch? Who can say... Awww! You are such a doll to prompt for posting one of my favorite screenshots eva! Your characters are this = Mine are this = You are all bad people and should feel terrible for the bad things you do! ((But we do love it when you all rp amazingly fun morally deviant characters.... .... Not that I ever have done that.)) But no seriously this LS sound like a great idea and you would have a fair number of great people on board!
