Best moment last night and one of my vents: First day patch is released. New dungeons and raid. Wheee! Let's go to World of Darkness since I just unlocked it. Tell the party...have to make sure they know.... "Hey all, brand new here." Ninja: "Wait so we're going in blind?" Me as tank: "Yeah....just unlocked it." Ninja/Healer/Bard: "Ugh..." Later after the alliance has wiped a few times times: Healer and Ninja quit. IT'S THE FIRST DAMN DAY PEOPLE!!! Seriously....like I'm expected to know the &^$%ing mechanics and fights 100% on day one, hour one for me since I just got off work prior and people are giving me the feeling like "Why didn't you watch a video or read some stuff noob?!" act? *Insert middle finger to those types here*

This..... This annoys me. I have a child, a spouse, a full time job, and my spouse doesnt speak English nor drives so my family is dependent on me to take care of most of our living. That said, I want the Ragnarok. Because I have rl obligations and not a lot of time available to play the game, does that mean I don't want it enough? Making sacrifices....like not investing time with my son, or at least socializing somewhat with my friends in game so I am not a recluse? See....making statements like this shows a level elitism that annoys someone like me seeing as I do the best I can, as do the others. Doesn't mean I don't want the item. Just means I don't have the time needed to do it. But maybe I shouldn't play the game seeing as based on the above I'm probably a filthy casual. :thumbsup:

That's great, I'm happy for you. I don't PVE. I log on to RP. If I wanted to invest the time, sure I'd be up to speed. I'm only interested in the shiny gold Excalibur. And I've already resigned myself to the fact I'll never have it. My care level is low to moderate. I was only interested in if I'd have something feasible to do while waiting for others to log on to RP with. If I can get even 1 Alexandrite for every 3 FATEs now, then it's worth it. {edit} Since the phase was introduced, I have never gotten an Alex from a FATE. I even ground another ATMA for the glamour. *Hugs* No worries. I have three atma. LOL. I want the Ragnarok but I've also resigned myself to never having it because I simply dont want to spend my day grinding away at alexandrite, spiritbonding, hunting for materia, light farming and all the blahs. Give me my tomestone weapon please thank you. For those that have the time and want the zodiac, I applaud you and respect your efforts but please lets not blast people for "only" having completed x or y in that questline.

Well... I'm the tank. They can't kick me until 5 minutes in, can't abandon until longer, and unless they know what it is I'm doing wrong, they don't really have a reason to get rid of me. Most groups are willing to tough it out and die a bit learning, especially on new stuff. I had a Trial Roulette land on Ultros last week that wiped and ran for nearly 25 minutes before finally winning, and the whole time it was the same pair of people not knowing how to manage things. We talked them through it and eventually won. I think the expectations on us for new things are amplified through the lens of worst-case scenario. I mean, it's different if someone's outright bad at something and refuses to learn (i.e., tanking Garuda in whirlwinds, kiting bosses for no reason, that sort of bad) but bad is not a synonym for new. *Gets axe and charges into new content with a bolstered spirit* RAWR!! Overpower ALL of the things!

Nah, you're fine on that for at least a week. Unless you're a tanker. Then you've got three or four days, max, to be an expert at all the contents ever. This ^ lol! *hides axe and runs*

This will always be the problem. And if you are new, especially as a tank, be prepared to face the wrath with those strangers. I did T6 with a pug in DF yesterday saying it was my first time and I will tell you people wanted to kick me before we even started. Others will say "grab some friends." Out of 86+ friends I have in my list, I would say maybe one or two would agree. Others are always "busy". So yeah, do I have a chip on my shoulder about endgame stuff? Yes. Becasue a lot of content is locked to me and can't be opened without the magical super combination of completing this this and that and oh you better have asolid group together who's practiced to do that too. And I don't have that. Rant done.
