Dec. 16th - Speed Dating at the Rum 'n Rumble
Melodia replied to Mercurias's topic in Chronicled Events
Ahem! Speed friend run! She needs friends.... -
Edmond took another sip of his wine, gasping loudly, an affected exaggeration as he set the glass down and considered her information. He turned his head and looked at her with a grin that hid more than revealed about him. "Sounds about right, though I do find the Wench to be a bit amatuer hour. I'm more interested the ones under the surface. The ones you can't see out in the open. Tell me, love...what are you interested in? Surely you have something or someone you can't get to."
-
With a soft, almost inaudible chuckle, Edmond turned to face the woman and the confident grin on his face was only broken as he took another sip of his wine. "Ah my dear, there's no hill that's impossible to overtake, except the one you fail to try." He made "tsk" sound and set the glass down. "I heard that somewhere once, but for the life of me can't recall where." He gestured to the seat next to him. "Please join me. I'd be interested in hearing about any potential clients or rivals I might have in the fair city." His voice was smoothe, and he had not a drop of nerves present as he spoke. In fact, when mentioning the word 'rivals' he added an almost sense of wonderment to his statement, like a child awaiting the unwrapping of a long-awaited present.

As the large woman approached and set her glass on the bar, he glanced at her and smiled. "Smart woman to accept a refill. You look like you can handle yourself." He gestured to the axe on her back. As his wine was brought to him he nodded to the woman behind the bar, taking in the scent of the wine before taking a sip. His hand cradled the bowl of the glass and his other hand drummed fingertips across the smooth bar surface. "As to your question, other business. I'm a purveyor of favors and contracts if you will. And it seems like this is the perfect city to sell my particular talents."
-
Edmond saw the Roe raise her glass and he nodded. Without missing a beat he said aloud, "Your glass looks empty, love. Perhaps I can buy you another?" He waited for no reply, turning to the barkeep and in the same cool and non-hushed tone, "Give the lady there another of whatever she's having. Make it a double." He tossed the Roe a wink as he said it and then continued. "And wine for me. Only the best you've got now, hun. None of the cheap stuff."

*Please feel free to jump in if you want, and if not will keep this in a journal format. Though...engagement would be awesome. Continued from Post #355 on the Balmung Bulletin Board The walkways and wooden bridges of Limsa appealed to him as he strode confidently about the city. His men had collected and organized his cargo and gear in a piss poor room not worthy of his coin in the Drowning Wench, but it'd have to do considering he hadn't yet had the time to secure proper quarters. But that would come in time. And in time, the gray-haired Hyur known to his men only as Edmond, would run this city. He only needed to get a handhold and the rest would fall into place. Edmond's footsteps were light, almost too light, as he strode across the Aftcastle area of Limsa, basking in the warm sunlight from above and taking in the surrounding sea air. His garb was one that spoke of wealth and his smile was one of confidence, and as he crossed the short wooden walkway and opened the door to the Missing Member, he took in the waft of air that reeked of alcohol, grime and the criminal element. All welcome in his book. The pirates, thieves and killers in Limsa were who he related to and none were worse than where he'd been before..... He pushed the memories away and took a seat at the bar, grinning at the barkeep, a young woman obviosuly tougher than one might assume, given her position. Pulling a sizeable pile of coin from a small bag in his jacket, he laid them on the bar and giving her a look as if he were a regular, he casually stated, "All right darling, put this in your pocket and keep it. Just set me up a tab and keep the booze flowing tonight. I'll settle up at the end of the night." Leaning back he scanned the room, taking in the faces. And with a satisfied smile, Edmond thought to himself, "Let the games begin."

Did someone say colors?! YUS! Ruru has generally shifted to an all black motif as matches his general disposition anymore. Blacks and dark greys. Melodia. Simple. Blue. Blue. Blue. Oh did someone say Blue? If you were selling pots of Storm Blue dye, I may have purchased some from you. Every outfit has that color somewhere in it. It's coordinated with her hair

Melodia's is IC.

And remember, just because a patch sucked for you doesn't mean it sucked for everyone else. Thank you Berrod. *hugs*

The deckhand, a weary-looking male Miqo'te, finished unloading the cargo from the ship and and with tired hands looked to the tall Hyur, an older man with gray hair, who stood looking out over the ocean he'd just escaped from. "Sir...all of it's been taken off. Yer settled." The voice of the deckhand was trembling and more than a bit weary. With a glance back over his shoulder and a warm smile touching his lips, the Hyur replied, "Settled you say? As in 'Everything is in its proper place, sir' settled? All I see is a pile of boxes sitting on a dock. Thaeus, go and fetch me your deck chief." His voice was pleasing to the ears, but deep in tone. As the deckhand scrambled off to the get the deck chief from the vessel, the man continued looking back at the boxes before scanning the city-scape before him of Limsa Lominsa with a smirk. He kept his hands clasped behind his back and heard in the distance a set of footsteps, heavy stomps heading from the vessel to the dock. "Aye, sir, boy says ye needed me?" The chill night air made his gruff voice seem to echo across the surface of the water. The Hyur grinned and let his arms hang free before gesturing at the cityscape. "What do you see here, Kai? Tell me what you see?" The deck chief looked and shrugged. "Dunno, sir....a city? Look, it's late and -" "Hush...." The index finger to the Hyur's lips, still grinning as he put his arm around the deck chief's shoulders in a friendly gesture. "It's not just a city, Kai...that's the answer I would expect from someone that lacks vision to say. No....that my friend, is opportunity. Especially for a group of spirited people with ambition." He turned and the grin left, replaced by a disappointed frown, as he faced Kai. "Merely a 'city', Kai? I'm disappointed." The sound was soft and yet seemed loud in the quiet late night air. *Shhuckk* The knife sank easily into the deck chief's chest as the Hyur continued to stare disappointedly before a tiny smile touched the corners of his lips and then he nodded softly. "Yes...your man failed to understand that words have meaning...and that is a failure of your leadership." His next words were a whisper, close to the deck chief's ear. "Means you lack vision. Not the sort I want here with me." As the deck chief grunted and finally collapsed off of the knife to the dock, lifeless, the Hyur looked about and saw no one about before casually kicking the corpse into the water, clasping his hands behind his back again and walking toward the ship, whistling a happy tune. Limsa, he thought, would be a good place to settle indeed.

balmung Getting back into the swing of things

I know a certain blue haired Miqo'te who would enjoy utilizing your business services as she tries to be a bit of a fashionista -
Nice! Andy and John have to wait until we get him leveled. QQ Think we may just be doing gold for Raandal and Daph 'cause mounts. Make sure we get an invite! Of course! Why wouldn't I invite you? She only threatened Andy a little. Andy would just crash the wedding anyway. She's a sucker for a good party. Hahaha! How awesomely awkward would that be, given the IC history of her and Melodia LOL!! "Aye, an' I make this toast t' me.....ahhh bloody hells who let 'er in?!"

Well....it was a long weekend and one where I was sick a lot, but last night and this morning, after some long talks with the small handful of very close friends in game I have, I made the decision to cut a lot of names from my list. Some I hadn't talked in so long I couldn't remember who they were. Others, who'd blatantly been dishonest with me, and others who were a bit more....well I could just tell our personalities weren't going to work well. And it was cathartic. In the end my friend list while still a little long, it's cut wayyy down. And it's healthier, like me irl. And I'm much happier with the names still there. Because those folks....they are the ones who do the little things, shoot a hello every so often and are just nice people. Always looking for more friends if you're up to the job. Just may take a bit longer than it used to be before I shoot the request to you.

I started rp'ing in D&D tabletop stuff a long time ago. This little blue box set with some rough maps and dice and from there went to Rifts, and Vampire: The Masquerade, AD&D, Shadowrun, a Robotech one, Traveler, and so many others. As FFXIV is my first MMO I had no idea rp could exist here until I'd found this site by accident. And I just enjoy playing out a story. I like seeing it unfold and not knowing how the other living parts will react or perform is part of the fun. On a side note, I did openly engage in a random walk up rp with a complete stranger yesterday and it was so much fun, a friend of her came over and we discussed the nuances of Limsa city mentality and the need for law enforcement and how far the line needs to be drawn. Very interesting and fun discussion.
