...to focus spells? I mean isn't that kind of a common thing if you want to focus as much as possible to shut off as many senses as possible? Like eyesight to properly focus whatever it is into your hand. It's kind of like how snipers have to stop breathing and use one eye to make accurate shots in a sense. Just a common trait to ensure it works.

Perhaps the final time i'll update this but i feel like this should be brought up now. Preorder earring gives the following stats below! This is the kind of items I've been wanting for a while now, an alternative to people who want to level alt classes but can't because the 1-50 grinding is a slog and this will FINALLY get myself and others to grind more! So the value of the Level Skip Potions are now not as a high demand unless someone is indeed sick of leveling. This should make things a hell of a lot easier for us Roleplayers...but the downside is that it's a Preorder bonus..if you have not done it yet and want these earrings, DO SO NOW! It's this way with cinematic Vs Ingame for game play reasons. Yes you can 'Take' bullets during an actual fight because if it was a cinematic, your character would be too fast for those specific gun toting people to shoot down or they are disarmed before firing a bullet and so on. They have to make it so you don't instantly die because 'Laws of bullets' But when it comes to a cutscene, it usually is a more down to earth tone because your character either stood too long and has a barrel aimed at him, and if he moved he would be shot. If you want a game to be as real as possible, then then GTA games and even Red Dead Redemption would of been impossible to even play because EVERY BULLET TYPE KILLS YOU IN ONE HIT! There's a time and a place to just forego the laws of reality during gameplay for a moment and continue on.... BUT WITH THAT SAID! Final Fantasy has had it's moments where cinematic Vs Gameplay do not work together. Case and point: Final Fantasy 7 and Aerith's death. CLEARLY you can toss a feather on someone and revive them but apparently that can't revive someone who was killed. An Item that REVIVES DEAD COMPANIONS does not work on the one character who Dies... It's this scene i will always remember being angry about and hearing rumors of the infamous 'revive Aerith' method that made me think that maybe my allies are not dead in combat but more unconscious and still breathing rather than riddled with arrows, burned alive five times, bullets through them like swiss cheese, hypothermia, radiation poisoning and or severed in more than five hundred ways. I mean if you designed a game, wouldn't you want your cinematics to still have some ground in reality for a narrative? (Except when it's over the top ala: Devil May Cry)

As someone who had made a very long campaign myself with arcs, here is a tip... DO SECRET SIDE EVENTS What does that mean? Let's say as you rp with your pals, you feel the urge to get 1-2 involved with something they get to see but others don't. This could be as simple as finding a weakness or as mind blowing as finding truth in all this. Or even gold hunt. you are not intentionally leaving players out but rather giving each person a more personal event to compliment the campaign. This also gets your friends asking or saying they will do something out of left field like storm the castle on their own to which you can make it a surprise or what not. Of course one downside to adding smaller events can be that certain people would enjoy it only. Those who are hooked on the story and mystery of it and it should only be in small dosages. My favorite: after sometime from a major fight, one of my pals got a letter to go alone to a secluded location to which the big bad tried tempting their character to join their side. They declined and a small escape scene ensued when fighting her wasn't the smart thing.
-
And all you have to do is ASK! https://www.twitter.com/XylaQuintessen1 Go ahead...Ask her with her name...Anything ICly or OOCly. For Xyla knows things...you just have to ask. No catch. No downside... Just ask smart questions... Do not get too curious.

i think this will suffice for Not Insane Xyla :3 Ma9y0kDmLJU

Events for one thing are a great way to socialize with people. Keep an eye on calendars and such. The 50/50 shot is the Quicksand. I've met plenty of my Roleplaying pals through this as well. You could always do FC Roleplaying to get started and hopefully get connected with friends of FC mates as well. If you do join an RP-FC that does events, I highly recommend doing them. Lastly, you could always try and make your own event. Don't worry if it seems small numbers come to it. Any and all will be a gateway to more RP opportunities. --- That said, you kind of have to be social and actively look for RP. It doesn't always fall in your lap. The best course of action if your character is not the forward type is to sometimes act or seem interesting or give some kind of emote that your character is doing something that may catch their eye...but every character is different and not many will be as open to the approach. It's a combination of being forward, socialization and just being active.

(im sorry i really had so much going on i forgot about this for a while...pardon if i am short replying) Arala merely looked up. "Huh? Oh just taking things in." she admitted while watching and listening to everything she could. "Maybe we could go somewhere a bit more quiet so we can talk about things without distractions?"

I think the real question is... What do we do now until expansion? -
she smiled a bit more at the mention of a date and dinner. Yet she saw that as merely too simple. "Oh my, no..." The Miqo'te then placed her glass down and insisted on something else. "You know my last name...but maybe if you can find someone in this room who knows my mother...I'll do you one better. Dinner? No. We can head down to Costa Del Sol, enjoy three days there and if you play your cards right, things might get...better. Just have to get information on my mother and her profession. But to make it harder...You only get three guesses! And each wrong guess removes a day off we spend." her own little bet was simply to test and tease. Unlike his other companion, Arala was more forward and outward than she could be. she hadn't mentioned her daughter or that she had no husband, and a lack of a ring clearly shows nothing about it. "So what do you say...Duke? Up to the job? Your assistant got my last name for you." Among the crowd, someone does know her mother...and that person was out there somewhere. Unaware of the bet. All the Miqo'te did for now was wait for a response. She eyed the duke carefully, sizing him and Mewrilah up. "I hope i'm not ruining your time here, dear." she asked Mewrilah.
-
As the Miqo'te listened to the bet, she merely chuckled. "Oh is that all? I'm sorry, but you only know my LAST name." a sip from her glass as she inspected the other before her. "I don't just give out my name to anyone after all." taking in the Duke and his friend. "But if you want a real fun gamble, I have one." her lips turned into a sly smirk and her eye raised. Wanting to know if this man had any intent to continue with a small chase or not. "What is it that she gambled on? I might be able to 'raise' it instead." Arala was always loving a good chance to enjoy herself. Especially like this. her ears wiggled a bit and her tail swayed. She could feel at ease at least with this atmosphere.
-
As she approached, the Miqo'te wasn't too keen on being too upfront. "I'm just glad i can attend to something like this. It's hard when you work as a Paladin." she mentioned before hearing the whisper of the supposed helper. She replied back quietly "Makeo." only giving her last name. She didn't feel too comfortable with her main name. Then again saying the Makeo name now was obscure and for a select few who remember her mother or family line of Goldsmiths. "It's just fun attending events like this once in a while. My mother use to go to open balls all the time." she carefully laid out her idea of the afternoon as she looked at the duke. Even going as far as to tilt her body in an angle to show off the slight curves and figure she had obtained in her life. Flaunting her body in a mild sense. "But surely an event like this must cost a lot?"
-
The odd Miqo'te of red and blue suddenly felt distracted by another. "Hm? Well sure. I wouldn't mind." Her voice sweet and polite as she followed A'ih to the Duke as they called him. The blue in her hair upon a closer look was vibrant against her darkened red head of hair. her bosom a little more prominent in the chest, yet not showing too much skin and only enough for a cavity. The quality of her mask was on a fair side, though probably put together at the last minute and yet there was a detail that was seemingly hard to miss at first. An emblem of a coat of arms with a necklace of three shaped gems and a cactuar could be seen on the brooch. As if a family symbol or emblem. She approached, taking a light sip of her drink as she looked up at the supposed Duke. Eyeing his features and mentally getting bad vibes...but she played along for now. "I assume you are the Duke then?" she raised a brow to him. She didn't mind much of a person's look as she tried to keep herself hidden from anyone that might of known who she was. Not a fear of popularity but a fear of some heckler spreading some minor detail and making a big deal out of it-which it technically was. "The party is very nice and open, I do say." a compliment. something simple to start off.
-
As the red and blue Miqo'te mingled, she could see the few people giving a glance. In her normal nature, she would wave and be open to move forward. Tonight she felt like keeping a low profile if not to warrant curiosity. She took this chance to walk across the room, not giving glances back and acting like she never see them. Internally she felt giddy, nervous and laughing along. Externally she kept a small smile and straight posture. She truly hoped no one would recognise her hair here. So far not one person she knew attended. Oddly enough, she was right where the drinks were as she finally spoke. A voice stern, strong but kind and gentle. "Get me one of these for me, please?" she slid a piece of paper for a drink of her choice. She waited for everything to be mix, the rim of the wide top but narrow end and base glass was lined with salt. Pouring in, the fluid was a clear blue mix like ice. Then he layered it with a quick chill to the top, making it look like a frozen lake...and topping with a cherry. "Thank you so much!" The odd Miqo'te left a tip for the work as she took her sip and looked back around. She just needed time to prepare if she had to engage.

I can offer a chance to meet Alyx or To meet with Edward Lazipu, the cursed Hyur in a Carbuncle body. Whichever intrigues you more. Though Edward's wiki isn't fully fleshed out still

A Seeker woman had been inspecting the ball under a simple guise. It wasn't really much but it helped to enjoy the fun. Adorned in Gemstones of alternating Red and Blue, dressed in a long Ceruleum Blue cocktail dress to better show her features and her once proud locks styled into a bun with some hair draping over the sides. A dark red coloration mixed with odd Ceruleum blue highlights from radiation poisoning not two years ago gave her head a more vibrant mesh of her style. Thankfully the mask she wore covered over her Magitek eye of a yellow coloration but only exposing her white eye. The mast styled like an odd falcon to hide who she was. She wasn't the top of the class, but considering the wealth and her family heritage, she could of been a noble...And she came alone. She looked around, wondering if her father had attended or decided to manage the ships but instead the odd haired woman tried blending in with the crowd. For the time she would watch the crowd and enjoy her time as she could. Rarely she found time to take in events like this as is.

discussion Your thoughts on jump potions?
Parth Makeo replied to Parth Makeo's topic in FFXIV Discussion
As Ferus said, the amount of time needed to retune/rewrite/recode and remake the 1-50 experience of MSQ would take a lot of time. It doesn't just happen overnight and can take a lot of time away from what really can matter. The Expansion, newer content for endgame and side content like Gold Saucer and The Feast. The only other option aside from the Jump potion would be to (and i can't believe I'm going to say this) Is to REMOVE the 2.1-2.3 Filler content of the MSQ content and just auto unlock EVERYTHING you can do at level 50. But the amount of dungeons/trials/raids and Primals locked behind level 50 quests is staggering enough that removing of said quests would probably anger some die hard fans. The sad part is that we are living in a post-Mobile App game world where people don't have "time" to set aside and grind hours upon hours just to be viable to do endgame content (Which they are changing in 4.0 thank god) or even take a buttload of hours grinding away on alternative characters since some people, despite enjoying the every class on one character, wants to play each race or enjoy their looks or Roleplay purposes. I am sad too that level boosts exist and I was almost with them when the wow version came in Mists but...it hit me. More people could actually play the game instead of go through content no one really cares about or even talks in anymore. You try leveling from 1-99 in World of Warcraft now. Barely anyone is willing to have a conversation in a dungeon or party up for quests since they are all solo-able now. As a certain orc would say... oxY89F5oU-I P.S: Those 5 people are not thinking outside the box or long term if they insulted you. Either FF14 is their first MMO or they are so diehard about ingame achievements like doing the leveling experience when it was current that they should cash out before they say 'hit me' on 20 and lose their all in bet. -
I say go with kilieit's idea because he bascially summed it up. Also I'd don't recommend the miqo'te thing being a slave because well... My characters were made before more solid info about the land came through (aside from NIN Quests) so take some of Kilieit's words

I sadly do not think Au Ra existed in Eorzea (like enough for a family) and mostly stayed in Othard until they started coming over more but i could be wrong. I have a friend who's Au Ra was turned into a Lalafell (hence his Lalafellian name) and his backstory was that he was found somewhere by the Caravan he had, yet they changed him for a time? It was complicated and i mean it's one way around it. Then again I have two Doman Miqo'te that have no confirmed family members (most likely dead/never saw them after birth) with one being adopted to just be a marriage chip for some rich boy and another picked up just randomly one night. I know it's impossible but Miqo'te tend to be that kind of nomadic race and if any existed in Othard, It would likely end up as some kind of cheap slave or killed...At least if we draw some similarities to real world. You are free to add if instead of a family from Limsa, that the family moved to Limsa earlier than expected to escape Doma and in that time you were born in Limsa just...not well known and the family keeping to themselves. That would make things a lot more believable in my eyes.

I will not let my legacy die with me....(background check)
Parth Makeo replied to Yunas13's topic in Character Workshop
I'm probably going to repeat what has been said but you shouldn't give up simply because we all hate it. If I can be blunt: the moment I saw the name Yuuna and you were wearing the Yuna clothes, I already didn't feel like reading your backstory. I read it regardless but the others dissected and commented on it to death. As ArmachiA said, you can still have your Yuna if you take her traits, not her character. Like for me, I took traits of other characters to make Alyx Quintessence but I only added her history as more people got involved and even added to it. There are many RPers not using the forums and that is ok. Just that if you want your character to stand out or be epic... You need to EARN it. Not simply because you came up with the idea first. Time and dedication of RPing wins out over fabrications of how awesome your character is or how special they are. But I'm being a hypocrite right? We're all special snowflakes But seriously. focus on the Present and not the past. Easier to have a simplified backstory that you can expand and expose as time goes on rather than slam the book down from the start. P.S: just make her an Au Ra or Hyur (since both are from othard). There is literally no ducking reason to have her race change in background just because you want a Hyur. Just remove that bit all together and save the headaches. Pardon if I am critical. Rants of a writer since 2007 -
The sun has barely risen over Ul'dah and one of many early birds were awake. Igni Quintessence awoke in her spacious room with a stretch. "Alright! Time to work!" her ever passionate attitude present as she got out of her covers. Igni is one of five sisters, loves training, collecting stuffed animals and has a secret talent for mixed drinks, cocktails and other alcoholic beverages. She hurried with cleaning herself up, brushing her semi-long red hair in place and wearing the usual garb of movers. With the final addition of a soft cap hat, Igni felt ready to take on the day! So she hurried down to the kitchen to find her sister, Wati, cooking a quick breakfast. "Good morning, sis!" Igni happily declared to Wati. The blue haired Au Ra maiden replied in a gentle tone "Morning Igni. Keiichi has yet to wake so get your fill first." Igni more than willingly took portions of the usual. Bacon, sausage, toast, fried egg, beans, half a tomato and some black pudding. It was what Igni needed with some coffee to make herself full and alert. After that, Igni would take the boxed meal that Wati also prepared and took off for the market rows. In Igni's job, she and a few other people were paid to help move cargo and wares from wagons and stalls for merchants. They each are called in a turn order that rotates unless others are not available. Igni placed her boxed meal in a sealed container where every worker checked in with the retainer so they wouldn't be stolen. The day worked simply as such. Igni was a signed to specific areas until big carriages pulled by chocobos would arrive. From there they are told to load or unload. Igni worked with much strength, showing her small size was capable of lifting large boxes meant for two, but she still needed help with anything heavy like tons of rocks and metal. Igni continued as per usual until...she felt someone take a pass and grabbed her ass. This was a semi-common occurance. Some of the workers found the way Igni's lower half looked to be appealing on it's own. She wore no different clothes from the rest but it really got onto her nerves. "Why isn't my boss doing anything?" she wondered as Igni confronted her boss. "Sir, they are at it again. They won't quit touching me inappropriately." Igni complained as her boss shrugged. "I told them to stop but I guess they need a talking to again." This was not working. Igni felt trapped. This was her only job and the only one she was good at. It made her uneasy that the guys were allowed to just harass her like that! Lunch came and Igni found her usual spot occupied by those harassers. She tried heading for the quicksand when one of them stood before Igni. "Woah there! Where do you think you're goin'?" he asked. Igni scowled. "I'm going to eat my lunch in peace. Move aside." The coworker soon pinned her back on the wall. "Quit snitching on the boss already, you dumbass! Only reason you were hired was your strength, Marmor Brain." Igni felt weak at that moment but she was not taking it so willingly. "Just quit touching me! I don't want to hurt you." The men were not amused or scared. "Look out...the sister of that walking corpse might spit fire or...trip on her face." they laughed. Clearly having no respect for Igni as she left the area fast. "Hey red hair! You look better from behind anyways! Keep it up!' Stuff like this was on and off with Igni. She wanted another job...but what can she do? Quietly, Igni would cry quietly into her meal. She always endured this to see the only person who ignited her fire... Chiyo. She did this to make her family proud, To make money. To feel helpful. "...if I could...i would kill them..." Igni spitefully said quietly, as a faint spark emitted from her knuckles in a purple and black hue.

Strange Sighting in Thanalan! (Hoax!?)
Parth Makeo replied to Parth Makeo's topic in Tonberry's Lantern (IC)
We have an update! A small group of adventurers tried to corner the spark in the desert but it has eluded them. Making them slip on the sand turned glass in it's path and blocking it's way with walls of flame! Meanwhile a radical group of activists are rallying to protect the Lost Spark of Ifrit, believing to be a kind and misjudged spirit. These people even take their time to watch it dash by when possible. Advocating it's right to eat like any other creature. We still urge caution to those who wish to travel during night as the Spark of Ifrit has not even attempted to go near residential areas.
