You don't have a bad voice for the job, but you're waaay too quiet. You could just up the gain in post if you wanted, but you'll run into problems with clarity pretty fast, turning up all your background noise along with you. Luckily, there are ways to fix it. First, make sure you're talking directly into that microphone. It shouldn't be on your mouth, just pretty close. If your voice ends up coming through better than any of your background noise does, that'll leave enough of a dynamic range that you can reduce noise easily in post (a la noise gate or whatever). If I were you, though, I'd do my very best to get rid of it entirely. You'll need a pop filter, a whole lot of soft materials, and a look at this: GOOD LUCK! Way ahead of you with the setup. Plus i had only computer noise running. My laptop is far too loud to record. I'm still testing and trying out how to make it work since I don't want to be upfront and in it's face. but that was the sound of me from my chair. obviously ill be louder with it closer lol. i just need to find a comfortable position is all.

Okay I feel awkward for asking this but with how often i find so many 'Same Sex' couples now, I just have to resort to this. Alts are fine and can give more variety to your selection. Maybe you don't want to RP on your main and want to Rp this other toon. Don't feel up for female characters? Play the male. But to be fair I already have seven alts for RP, three at least above level 50 and not counting NPC characters I have, it is a lot of work. Especially when some are family members (See Xyla's Wiki). Truth be told, if you are committed to playing more than one character, alts are fine.

Okay so i came back from Connecticon and after attending a panel and learning some neat things about the technical aspect of podcasting (spoiler: cheap mic for $50 and simple programs=medium quality ) got me thinking.... What if we were to start a sort of Final Fantasy Podcast for the community. Not just Balmung but anyone playing FF14 or even FF11? Well let me pitch this first (I plan to buy a mic for practice) The show would have 2-3 hosts. We get a mix of people who know how about what and opinions. The group can talk about not just the MMOs but other games, fan theories, ideas, old game stuff and even SE IPs now and then. But the 40% of the time it will be about FF14 and both it's game and RP aspects. We could also do RP shoutouts for other servers later on when more listen, get more involved with a lore reading segment... If you get where i am going with this, In a nutshell: A Fan podcast for FF14 in many ways. Of course this is still in the rough planning stages and I don't mind doing the work to putting the podcast together/getting it on Itunes and what not. But It's really difficult to make a one person show. It's far more fun and meaningful with more heads from different fields. --- The purpose of the thread is to hear people's opinions, what they think about it and if they have better ideas to adjust. Personally in terms of FF14, I do not enjoy PVE or PVP content and for the sake of the Podcast I will stick to what i know best. So let me hear what you got, please. It also depends what you offer. Some situations fit certain characters and some do not. Like a character who has more light hearted adventure is not going to easily stroll into grimdark situations or a character that does not frequent ul'dah will most likely not be around Thanalan.

I might be a little too attached to this character OOC to give her a flat "LOL DED" ending, hence why I'd be doing it in an event. And yes, I can see where you come from, it can be especially painful if the character they suddenly kill of has established close relationships and such. Have you experienced this before? How did you take it? I will not named as I don't want to bring any attention to the individual... I have experienced this before on Arala (who might I add is half retired and replaced with Quint) where one day I was casually rping with some people when I got this whisper from a close person of her's generally saying: "I'm not having fun with this character so I'll kill him off." Out of the blue. This character in his current position is living an ok life. No issues or suicide and is enjoying his life but then he just leaves a laundry list of what my character and all those close to him were suppose to flat out accept. I gave him a plethora of options for his character to just be an NPC (because let's face it...this person was not doing much as is) and for him to kill his character off was more than insulting to everyone without any involvement or eyewitness. This is what I call "spitting in the face of your friends." in RP. This made me really mad. Like angry. It was not natural nor given a chance to help at all.. In the end the character is still alive but the wound he left on me and a few others still sting to this day....even if he doesn't rp that much anymore. (stupid phone spelling)

That is a very good reason too. If your character has been more or less done and over with you are free to kill them off of the situation and story seems it. Will be tragic since she may never get to her goal but it happens

I mean as in death is a 100% excuse to make a new character as oppose to what you intend to do...an event. I had someone whisper me once they plan to kill their character just because they don't like rping the toon....offscreen. No send off or anything. Just suppose to accept the death without a chance to help. Your way feels more considerate to those around you with a CHANCE to save but their failure will result in a character death. Thus making it interesting in the end. In short: I hate people who off their character for no reason like a red shirt. Be more Spock or Kirk.

The closest I have been to killing my character was ceruleum poisoning after I think 2 months of exposure with no real sign until it was late. She was saved with treatment but it was fairly close. But to answer the third, I don't mind rping someone killing their character off...I just don't care what you do with the character. It is your character. What I personally have a problem with is character death as an excuse to remake/fantasia your character instead of making them an npc. That just is questionable. And I don't mean as if it was at the end of some plot or during a story. I mean a sudden "up imma kill this character cause I r bored with it!" idea.

so did like 1 million other players...but that is the questionable part about MMO-RP is that they paint your character as THE savior. as THE one. That is why majority of us here actively avoid having our characters participate in the patch/event majorly as the sole defining reason that it happened. Sure the character can fight during the Dragonsong war or the character delved into the Crystal Tower...but because the game paints your character as the only one to be able to save the world because of the big name adventurer... It's not a real good starting point. Take my words with a grain of salt on this one big time...I mean it. Hate me if you wish as well... But since you are finally starting an RP profile...It would seem FAR TOO Mary Sue if you suddenly showed up as the one who helped defeat a powerful dragon or the hierarchy of the Void. Not to say you can't help in some way, but directly fighting such forces is very grey ground in RPing... If others would like to chime in and correct me, please do. I don't want to be enforcing rules but from past experience in wow RP and such, it really is kind of jarring if your character was the one or of a few who did the thing that about 1 million players have done with their characters. Last time...take my words with a grain of salt. I'm trying to not enforce stuff...just wishing to warn you if you go in this direction.

I think something strange may be going on with the servers. I got kicked the same as you just a short while ago.... 2k queue to get back in... then immediately 90k'd again and back in a 3k queue now. I think the servers may just be having an issue. I do hope it's just an issue and not Square finally catching onto our secret ERP orgy empire.

Oh, I definitely do that. I have three or four "smithing" outfits for Chachan, and a few more casual ones. Plus a couple fancier outfits for balls and such, should he end up at those. I just assumed they meant just having the characters wearing the AF gear in general and its feasibility. Yeah but i wish SE would allow more armor slots. I don't want to take up inventory space

So...you don't change your clothes each day or at the least swap around? All my toons have more than one attire even for their job. Like backup armor or just a change of clothes. Also from all your other threads you seem to be Overthinking and planning a character. My best advice overall is to don't start off the gate with a million things on your character. You can't make The Thinker by simply placing the clay on a stand and slap at it. Take the advice as you RP but also RP with basic information about your character. Don't worry about the gear, don't worry about the companions, don't even worry about the weapons for now. Just focus on getting the Character out before all the other stuff. Add on as you RP slowly bit by bit. Let it naturally progress. Overthinking will end up killing your character IMHO.

Like nearly anything in rp, mounts and pets are additions to characters as well. While Quint may have some, the best example I have is Arala and her companions. Geppetto, who has his own wiki, is a mammet that looks like a cait sith fill. Since implementing him, he has grown in nearly a year and a half to his childlike wonder and attitude. Plus he has the trademark "Doodle!" I simply wrote that Arala obtained Geppetto from a few spares they had in the back of the Goldsmith hall. Bou though had a different story. He was raised since he was a chick at Arala's side...but then one moment changed her life when Chiyo, Arala's friend, wanted to start riding him in the races. Needless to say that Boy and Chiyo started to be more friendly. This as a gesture of frendship, Arala have Bou to Chiyo for her to own. This granting Chiyo her mount. I consider the use of pets and mounts more personal to the character.

So everyone likes shipping characters and what not in fandoms...but what about all the RP characters we got here and NPCs? I got a few to share and i want to hear what others think as well. You are free to ignore if they are already married or not and the pairing can be clean. So long as those characters were seen with each other in some way or another. Let's see them! I was going to post to help you if you wanted to make an artificial being but you retracted on the idea before I could post I was going to say if you wanted to do that idea, you may just want to eliminate the being aetherial part and focus first on how your character works. For instance... I play a 'Doll' made of flesh but has some key traits that show her artificial side. 1. She has no body heat below the head nor does she feel without seeing. 2. She has half her emotions so at times she is unable to feel anger. 3. She is hollow say for key locations and her head containing her brain (a modified sprite core) and that's it. Because of this her supposed aether levels is nearly non-existent. Sat for her head and the system that keeps her working. From one artificial rper to another... DO NOT: focus on too much aether. Because the character is fake or made, it should either only have enough to power it's motions like a golem or use a power supply like ceruleum. DO NOT: start the character off as someone who has lived FAR beyond an era where that race may not of existed in more (it's around the fifth era where magic was founded after an ice age if I remember correctly) than one ways And to prevent Mary Sue, DO: put limits in place. Perhaps the creation cannot eat solid food or they are devoid of love and affection. As mine has a few limits like she cannot taste unless aether is involved or splashing some Ether on it works. And she can eventally kill herself if she overused her weapons. Worst she suffered was cracked horns which she can feel that pain. I hope this helps and you are free to look at her wiki if you want.

Quint has 3 Rollo the Kitten (Reading this makes it easier) Rollo is a black kitten that Quint had found across her time in Ul'dah. As she tried to find it a home at first, Rollo basically hissed and warded away those who would take him from Quint. It wouldn't be until Percival told her about the situation. Abandoned, Quint decided to take Rollo in after many failed attempts to get him a new home. Rollo is playful but weird. He enjoys watching the Grindstone from afar and loves eating strawberries. Quint doesn't treat him as a pet but rather as an individual. Piyo: Piyo is a red feathered Zu that Quint had encountered in the lab where she was made. The poor bird was chained and malnourished when her and Chiyo found him. After releasing the bird instead of killing it, The Zu took off somewhere else... About two days after, Piyo started following Quint in Corethas and nudging her to ride him. While she had no idea why Piyo acted so docile to her, Piyo saw Quint as the last remaining good of the old Xyla he once had as a master. Quint rides Piyo with caution, knowing a Zu is dangerous but Piyo is a sweet and gentle Zu with no ill in his heart...sadly he is deadly afraid of Rollo for some reason. Morpho: A random butterfly that comes and goes with Quint. No real information is known at this time as to why or if it has a name...but it communicates with wing flaps. (and possibly more in the future lol)

Quint (Or Doll#401) has been in her confusing spot. while she has no real loyalty to anyone, she is more than willing to make amends and fix what her creator (the real Xyla) has caused. Her current spot is more than questionable anyways. Groups will not take her in despite her clear interest and some people will still accuse her of various allegations such as being a witch or a dormant daemon waiting to emerge and kill them all. It took Arala much effort in the past to even allow Quint to be 'free' in Ul'dah. Talking and conversation through the Flames made her known at the least. She is in a grey area. Some can trust her, others cannot. Some enjoy her and others just despise her very existence. Out of the people she met, Quint is more than willing to prove to the populace that she can be loyal if given the opportunity to demonstrate her abilities and skills. For now she is loyal to only those she is familiar with, Friends and their companies and her love.
