Quint just watched with a smile at Kali's reaction to it all and talking about some stone and the glee she had as she ignored them for a time. Cobalon hopped on the table once more to converse with Quint in a low voice. "Should we tell her about the possible dangers she may face on the journey?" Quint heard his question and shook her head. "No. For she wanted the end result, not the troubles she may face...Lot of Goblins possibly. Nothing too dangerous." and with a shift of the crystals she returned to her seat, laying it open for more. "Who else would love to see a reading!? As this young girl has just reacted, it is a work of truth, not fiction!" Again, Cobalon attempted to gather more to the effort, hoping to let more take the stage. "Anyone at all! You may find something life changing or a warning to heed!" Quint on the other hand looked around, taking some rock candy out with an ominous glow and placing one in her mouth. "...Apple..." she quietly mentioned. Bystanders started watching but were more nervous than before. "Her hand just vanished when it was placed inside..." "Do you think it could chop off limbs?" "...I keep telling you that thing is a witch..." Quint tried ignoring the comments as she focused on her task. The quicksand's eyes on her for a time. Her expressionless face and stiff posture masked her nervous interior of it all. She tried to speak but yelling was hard for her. "I ask for nothing in return. It is all for fun. No harm done."
-
Quint listened to her explanation. Unphased by how excited she was about a map and treasure. But the options she listed were something to go by. Unlike reading cards or palms, Quint used another method of reading. "Well considering the second option seems dangerous, here is one such possibility if you were to go now and be there first." Quint told her calmly, causing the four points to spin around in a circle before halting and keeping their formation. A portal big enough to stick a hand in appeared before them. "Now I ask that you will place your hand inside. It can be as much as a finger or your whole arm...and when I say pull out...please, pull out." she focused her task on keeping it open. It would allow something to enter but it would not pass through to the other side. Supposedly as if reaching out into the future to find answers...and for a moment it would surge within her mind, For Kali to only see. Quint kept this portal going for a little while until she announced it. "Pull your hand out now! That's all I can show!" and when she would, the portal would collapse before them. returning the crystals to the table. "Now...if you wish to tell me what you saw by going alone, you are free to. Otherwise do take the possible choice that the future you took with a grain of salt." Cobalon smiled and hopped on the table. "AND if you want to know what the other option would bring, that will be a thousand Gil!" to which Quint picked Cobalon up by the neck and placed him back down. "Please Ignore Cobalon. I have no intention on making Gil. I would love to also show you the possibility of what may and can happen if you take the job and bide your time for the map." To onlookers, it was less exciting than flipping cards or the reaction of the reader but it was far more plausible outcomes rather than false estimations.
-
Cobalon set his sights upon Kali with her loud tone. "Sure sure! come on down." Cobalon announced, noticing the small crowd. The very uppity girl seemed rather well versed with such antics as she sat before Quint on the opposing side of the table. With a very straight and narrowed face, Quint explained her deal. "To begin, I would like to know of your name. Then if you so wish, tell me what you would like to know. Do take heed, as whatever you see in the visions I will show you are only a possibility. For our future is never accurate and the event you witness can never happen...but it can as well." her method of explaining this seemed very intellectual but also confusing to most not even remotely familiar with how time works. Cobalon on the other hand took his time to try and gather more waiting bystanders. With a loud mouth he proclaimed "That's right! These are not merely readings in the future but ACTUAL glimpses! No trickery here! No jokes or mirrors! All done with four Augmentated crystals and the owner's will to see! Come and see!" Quint would begin with guiding the crystals with her finger acting like a conductor's baton. They swirled around before positioning the points in a diamond like formation between them. "So please, tell me what you wish to see and then stick your hand through the portal I will create...when I tell you to pull out, do so without hesitation."
-
"The future before us is never set in stone. What choices we make can and will alter the path we head on. There are an infinite amount of possible outcomes, and yet even the simplest actions can completely alter your world. And while I can see into the future briefly...I cannot confirm nor deny if and when that vision is and can be true. For the future CAN be changed, WILL be changed and MUST be changed." - Quint Much of Ul'dah's traffic around the Quicksand comes and goes while also relaxing and getting a nice cold drink on the side. However on this day, a special sight was to behold for everyone. An Au Ra woman with dark features yet wearing a red dress as she was accompanied by a Carbuncle. They occupied one of the tables placed more in the center of the Quicksand, allowing her to set up her little tools. Four of her Augmentations were placed at each direction of North, South, East, and West relevant to Hydaelyn. These crystals floated above the table at the points as she took her position at one end. The Carbuncle hopped on the table and strangely enough he spoke. "My dear friend here is offering free glimpses into the future! These are just visions and hints as to what one may encounter in your life, so take them with the tiniest grain of salt you can! See what the future can hold for you if you chose to wear the blue dress instead of the red one! See the possible outcome of skipping a night of drinking with friends and instead making an honest living! Give it a try and see!" He promoted the little event for fun. From there he would take his position near the Au Ra and waited. "Cobalon, you do know my visions are as accurate as firing an arrow at a fly?" she brought it up to the Carbuncle beside her. "No need to worry, Quint. It's all in the name of fun! So long as no one takes your visions of the future serious..." So they waited, looking around and wondering who would approach?
-
Quint sat there and yet still uncertain as to how he would ask that she see a specialist. "A specialist? What kind?" and it may of been new to others who have yet to see her that all comments about her don't seem to phase her much unless directly insulting her. "I tried going to a Goldsmith and an Alchemist and they said that I should see someone who knows more about bodies...and Cobalon here told me about visiting a Clinic. So he found this." she pointed to Cobalon who still tried not to speak. "So I assume there is no more testing possible?" Cobalon would finally break. "Come on. Give her an exam already! Weigh her, measure her, test for something!" the Carbuncle just suddenly said out loud in a clear tone. Apparently there was another reason behind these supposed medical exams than trying to toy with her... "...Why are those things important?" Quint asked. Of course medical records of any kind are important. And Cobalon might be the one encouraging such things would exist for Quint.

Quint sat there in the chair without moving at all. Her posture straight and her expression stiff as a board. Even when he took a closer look at her eyes, she didn't budge. The command to open her mouth was questionable but she complied. Opening it just enough to see the tool he would use to place under her tongue to read heat. The use of the thermometer rose to the normal temperature of an individual. Quint was unaware of the taste but could feel the tool under the tongue. Preventing her from speaking for a moment. Cobalon watched him work, desperately wanting to talk. Yet he refrained from speaking to keep Xha working and NOT drag attention over to him. 'Not a word, Cobalon...Don't let them know you can talk...'
-
"I see..." She thought for a moment about the choice. "There is no problem then with a checkup." to Quint it was her first time in her life. The idea of such a check up would of never came across had experiences before didn't influence her choices. Cobalon on the other hand decided to sit idly by for the time. Watching her carefully.
-
Quint quietly eased the book back into her lap. The dark colored scales and skin along with her hair made her stand out from her red dress which looked very well made. Behind her reading glasses the faint sight of her pink colored umbral rings stood out more prominently. The carbuncle beside her was about to speak but figured for his own safety, he would not say much. "Cobalon here told me to get something called a 'checkup'. Though I am not sure what he is thinking." she looked to Cobalon who was resisting the urge to speak. Shaking his head to give Quint the warning that even doctors may want to cut him open if they found out. "What does a normal checkup do exactly?" the odd Au Ra asked curiously.
-
"Remind me why we are stopping by here, Cobalon?" An Au Ra woman in a red dress opened the door to the clinic, accompanied by a Carbuncle at her side that...spoke. "We need to give you a checkup. I am sure a doctor can see if anything different is found that you are unaware..." Cobalon said as he waited in a chair next to the Au Ra. She brushed her black hair in place as she waited patiently. Idly looking over one of many books. (sorry if I am butting in...I want to get in on this too . looks fun)

(a parallel to Journal of a Carbuncle to talk about Doll 401) [suggested music: Any music box style ] Day One My creator named me Xyla Quintessence after her own name. I was told by her master that I was to be used for his moments of alone time if I wish to still be relevant. My other job in the meantime is keeping an eye on the many books and tomestones in the Ever Expanding Library. Day Two My creator told me that I was allowed to read whatever i want so long as I put the book back where i found it. At first, I was not sure how to read but when I opened the book, it became clear to me. There were stories to escape in. Amazing records of Flowers. I wish I can see a real flower. This book about the body and the components made up of one. Am I made of the same material? And even books about magic! Day Seven I was reading this nice story and felt like others should listen in. I tried asking my other selves but they were far too busy with their own duties. My creator forbid me from leaving the tower on account that I had a special job. At times, I think I hear my creator making weird noises in her room. I am unsure what it is. I will confront her on it tomorrow... Day Eight I asked my creator about the noises she made last night. She assured me that it was an accident...but i do not understand. I looked through a book and came across the word... 'Emotion' I looked up the word in an old dictionary to find out what it meant. 'a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others.' The examples talk about such feelings as... Happy Sad Angry I must learn what this emotion is. Day Seventeen It's been lonely in this tower. I can only see white from the windows and nothing else. Master Varthamith said to never leave the tower. It's not fair. The other dolls can go out and explore but why am I stuck here? Is this a feeling of... Envy? Depression? Sorrow? I long to see the world beyond the white barrier... Day Twenty I finished another wonderful story among the collection, but it was so good that I wanted someone to listen to when I read outloud. The other Dolls ignore me like I don't exist. Master Varthamith is always busy and my creator simply told me that there was never time. So I decided today I would find an audience to read to. While it was time for them to sleep, I slipped outside just far enough to not escape the barrier. I dust the snow aside and found a few misshapen hunks of solid earthen metals. Rocks i think they called them. I gathered what I could find and brought them inside. Day Twenty One I placed the rocks around me in a semi-circle as i sat down with them. I read them my favorite story... About the Mammet who wanted to be a real Lalafell. The old Hyur man who made him. A fairy and so much more. I wondered why I always read this book, and I figured out it is due to this Relation aspect of life. When I was finished, i noticed my rock pals did not leave. They stood there for me and I gave them names. Day Forty Five Today, Master Varthamith and my creator were talking about this Miqo'te man they captured. Saying things and altering his mind. They made him do odd tasks but what was weird is that he had plans for a giant mechanical door... Day Seventy Three The Miqo'te man finished the door but on a mission to the Shroud, he broke free and fled. It was the first time I heard what was bad.... 'We need Arala. She is to be our 'Primal' of Light.' I listened to their debate and as it turned out, they were really bad guys. Much like my stories. They talked about how they wanted to bring about some god and men in hoods. It scared me... I don't want to be evil. Day Eighty five I was to be sent to a small shack in a place called Limsa. They said the last doll there was taken out and with their forces spread so thin, they asked me to pose as a simple resident. I agreed but it meant i could explore the world! I could see what i always wanted to see! I packed up my rock friends in an old book and stashed them with the other books I intended to take with me. To think, after so long I can finally see beyond the lonely Tower... Day One Hundred and two I got a mission from Master Varthamith. He sent me a vial and told me to poison the wine for Arala's friends. Why? Why are they so mean? Of course, if I do not do this I will be punished with death. I tried my best to pour only enough to make them suffer. I...don't want them to die...I know it's evil and wrong but what choice do I have? My rock friends cannot save me, not anyone will...Not as long as I have this name.... Day One Hundred and fifty Two I heard that the wine harmed Arala since she drunk it first and they sent someone after me...I was scared...I...i didn't mean it. I tried talking to her and explaining my situation. They didn't care... Are all people this spiteful over one incident? It...hurts....Someone please save me... Day One Hundred and Fifty seven I met this person named Lilith who protected me against Varthamith. She tried to fight him despite my attempts and she got injured. I was concerned despite knowing it wouldn't kill her. She did help me cut my ties with him and my creator. I am to meet with Robert Colt and join his company for protection...Tomorrow will be my last entry. Final Day I leave for the Company and plan on joining them soon enough. I just hope they treat me well instead of some doll...I want to learn. I want to know. I want to understand... ...Please... ...I ask for just one very special friend to be by my side when I arrive... ...Someone who can make me feel less like a doll and more like a real Au Ra... [The remaining pages were filled with sketches of flowers with comments on them about how much she liked them. How pretty they were and to one day be as pretty as a flower herself.]

It would be even more neat if say certain other aligned players in the neutral area sometimes go there for information trade and or talk about other issues. Let those not of a villain like status feel uneasy and even scared to approach and inside have occasional jabs or comments about those who walk in. I honestly would love to see it be a passive aggressive environment. Cause I know P'rita may want to visit now and then for information trade > : 3

"I Just Wanted Friends..." [Past Story]
Parth Makeo replied to Parth Makeo's topic in Town Square (IC)
It was only a few days until Arala's Nameday. Every year she had looked forward to it. Not for the gifts but for the company. Sadly by this time, her uncle passed away and her aunt went missing. All she had for family was her mother and father. And to her it was just fine. But she had friends now! Making it more of a reason to include the others... Tiffany meanwhile convinced the other kids about Arala. How she was just a second class citizen compared to everyone. The plan was to humiliate her in some way. Show her where she really belonged. Up till this point they only played nice because their parents said so...but in truth they felt like they were more important. Their status and wealth compared to Arala and her family were nothing. So why should they stick around her? Not only that but Arala at times acted like commonwealth. --- The day came. A banquet hall was reserved for the event. Nothing too big but enough for the kids to enjoy themselves. Nameday as oppose to other traditions involved a sort of gift giving to the person who had turned another year in life. But it was optional. Even the invitation said that gifts were not mandatory... How commonwealth of Arala. "Mama? Is Papa coming?" A very excited little Arala asked her mother who was inspecting the cake with a baker. "I'm sorry but your father had to be called into work again. He said he will make it later with a gift in hand." her mother told Arala despite not sure about her husband coming at all. Arala just smiled "That's okay! I know Papa works hard like you do!" Behind the scenes, Arala always felt more connected with her father than her mother. but before they could talk, the guests would arrive. Complete with the parents in tow. They had brought some gifts but mostly letters and notes to congratulate on Arala's day. She was so excited for it all... And it was going so fine until that incident. The incident that stuck with Arala for her life. Made her weary of making friends and caused her to hate her own nameday and parties. Tiffany approached Arala with her friends when the parents were not looking. "You know, this party is cool and all but where's all the decorations? Where's the big cake?" she asked. Arala answered without much of a care. "I thought that it would be unnecessary to go all out on my Nameday. I just wanted to spend time with my friends." "...Exactly what Commonwealth Filth would say." Arala was stunned by her words. "C-commonwealth? I'm not commonwealth." she explained but another 'friend' added "Then why do you not want gifts?" "Because I have my friends." They laughed. "Friends?" Tiffany heckled "Friends will not build a home. Friends will not get you armor and weapons to be that 'Paladin' you want to be." they started to devolve and be rude. "Why are you guys acting mean...This is not normal." Arala was unsure why they changed their tone. Tiffany then finally dropped the ball. "We were never really friends, Common Filth. You should learn better fashion before you even attempt to talk to us again." Arala wasn't sure anymore. She wanted to fight back but she felt weak. "B-but....My mother's friend made this...I like it..." to which Tiffany shook her head. "No. It's ugly. Looks like something the poor would use to wipe their rears with." "My Mother's friend worked hard on it! It's not trash!" "You are just so...stupid." With Arala so focused on fighting with Tiffany, two of her friends came up from behind and tossed the cake onto her. Prompting an eruption of laughter from the whole group of kids at her. "Now it looks better!" "How appropriate!" "Just what Commonwealth trash would wear!" they heckled and laughed. Taunted and made fun of her. These kids were never her friend from the start at all. No...they just wanted to prove they were superior due to their morals and money. While it makes little sense to you or me, to kids it meant everything. Especially those living in Ul'dah. ---- Arala ran from the banquet hall and to the housing complex. She locked the door and found a corner of the home to sit down on. Legs curled against her chest she sobbed and cried. Arala meant no harm and they treated her so harshly. She thought they were her friends but in the end they were using and playing her just till they found the time to finally say it. "I...I wanted friend....I never...Meant any harm..." she sniffled, not caring about the remaining pieces of cake on her body at all. Arala felt betrayed and hurt beyond normal. Just then, the door opened just enough. Behind it was a tall Miqo'te male. Black skin and black hair with the signature Keeper eyes of dim yellow. His armor the standard issued armor of a Paladin and in his hand was the gift he had made for Arala...And he saw her there in the corner crying. "Arala? What happened?" The Miqo'te asked. He quietly set the gift down to the side and knelt before Arala. She hid her eyes in her knees. "The kids at my party...They were mean...and hurtful...and they tossed the cake on me and call me....C-commonwealth Trash." Her voice barely noticeable underneath the painful sobs and gasps of air. "I wish i never had a nameday at all, Papa..." This made her father really concerned. Never did he see his daughter look or act like this in his life. No story could lift her spirit...so he tried to tell her something else. "My dear Arala. I know it must of been painful for those you called friends to harm you like this, but you must endure it. You want to be a Paladin, right? A good Paladin must strive to fight through the toughest of moments, Physically and mentally." he gently pulled Arala's head into his chest. softly stroking her hair. "I know that one day, you will be a great Paladin. One that will exceed expectations of others and even be apart of the Immortal Flames. I can see it now...You will carry a torch to brighten up the dark paths ahead of everyone, and with it make the realm a safe place. Your training will be hard, my daughter...but never forget that even the strongest of Paladins will have their moment of weakness. It will be up to others like you to lift their spirits and support them. Even now, you train yourself to become a Paladin like you wanted." When he left Arala there to look up at him, he grabbed the gift he had for her. "Here. I asked a Carpenter to make these...that's why it took me so long." he offered a wooden sword and shield to her. Made for her. "Will you take up these weapons, better yourself and be the Paladin you want to be? Or will you let the pain you feel now control and consume what little you are now?" Her father posed the question. She reached out and held the sword in her hand. The shield went around her wrist and hand to hand off the arm. Arala then stood on one leg, then the other. She lifted herself up and with tears still in her eyes she said to her father... "I want to be a Paladin like you...And have lots of friends!" ------- It would take Arala many years since then to open herself to anyone other than family and her mentor...but just a few days after becoming a Paladin officially...her life would change forever when one man sat down at her table and enjoyed a meal of Marmot Stew with her. The man named Robert Colt, and her first true friend. ---end--- -
"I Just Wanted Friends..." [Past Story]
Parth Makeo replied to Parth Makeo's topic in Town Square (IC)
"Mama! Can I play with my friends?" words that Arala hardly said ever before. It made her feel happy to have friends now. She tried to find time to play with them after that party and it seemed like all the while they had fun. Especially Tiffany. She was only one year older than Arala and they looked like a good pair on the surface. A laugh, a chuckle and some games were to be had. To Arala, it was all she really wanted in life. No money, no material goods. Just companions. But behind the scenes, Tiffany and the others were only being nice to her because she was an easy target. Arala was kind, generous and was a pushover as well. They took advantage of her kindness without her being aware. In truth they kept her around until they found a good time to break her. Why you may ask? We may never know. Kids tend to be fairly cruel. One particular day, Arala and Tiffany were exploring the streets when they came across a young Hyur boy about their age as well. While Tiffany was not fond of boys at the time...Arala was. She never had a friend who was a boy yet and for some reason it made her blush a little thinking about it. His Highlander like build. The short brown hair and eyes seemed to pull Arala to him inch by inch. "H-hi...My name is Makeo. Daughter of the Arala Family- no wait! I'm Arala, Daughter to the Makeo family!" she stumbled like a fool. Tiffany then realized who it was and dragged Arala around the corner. "Do you know who you were talking to?! That's the Weaver's Guildmaster's Son, Roland! How can you stumble like that before him!" Tiffany was generally scared about it. Her family did regular trades and she had seen Roland a lot. most of the time he shrugged her off. Arala blinked. "H-huh? I didn't know. He looked like he could use a friend." her words falling silent as she noticed Roland approaching. "Pardon me, Tiffany." despite his age, he was well mannered compared to other boys. He offered his hand to Arala to pull her from Tiffany's grasp. "Thank you..." Arala couldn't look at him. She knew that compared to her family, his was FAR more up in status. She simply bowed before him "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to stumble like that!" apologizing for her attitude. This made Roland laugh. "Don't be! I found it funny that you would mix your name up!" The two seemed like a cute pair, but Tiffany didn't want any of that. If there was one thing she hated more than kind and generous people, it was people who easily made a connection to others. "How DARE a second class try to have a conversation with an upper class family! She needs to learn her place before things get out of hand..." In the pool of her mind, Tiffany would hatch a plan to finally humiliate Arala. But she would need help from her friends to do so. She wasn't going to let some Second Class family upstage her higher class in Ul'dah. It looked bad for her image among the kids. Arala was a nobody, and so was her family... Months later, Arala sent out invitations to her friends for her Nameday party. It was the first Nameday party she had outside of family and she was excited to have friends over instead. She was going to turn Twelve. -
http://i.imgur.com/hKqSQpt.jpg[/img] Arala Makeo was born into a middle class family in Ul'dah. Her mother was a well respected Goldsmith and her father a great Paladin. Arala herself was born with two white eyes and her signature red head with a small but of black on the tips. While her mother was a Seeker, her father was a Keeper. So despite looking like a Seeker of the Sun, she had some Keeper in her. Arala loved her father so much that she would wait for him to return to hear his stories. Especially her favorite 'Emperor Xi' which was a five part tale that told of an emperor beridding of his negative emotions and save his people through his own sacrifice. But while her life seemed happy, she had one issue... Arala sucked at making friends. Not just because she was a Miqo'te but also because she was at one time terribly shy. So making friends was hard. One day, Arala and her mother had to attend a small banquet. Her father had work out in the field so he couldn't make it this time. Arala was ten at the time. "Mama...why do I have to attend the Banquet? It's never any fun." said a fustrated Arala. Her mother was helping her in the new blue dress she was given by a tailor friend. As she helped Zip her up she replied "Because, Arala dear, this is the best chance to make friends. Plenty of kids your age will be there." and moved to the table to finish her makeup. Her mother ran a comb through her long red hair to make sure no knots showed up. Sadly Arala at the time always hated long hair. So she had it short as possible. Now ready, the two headed off to one of many banquet halls in Ul'dah. Walls lined with decorations and the smell of high class food filled the air. It was a banquet to congratulate one of her mother's co workers on her promotion in the alchemist guild. Arala snuck off and noticed a small group of young girls like her as well. Three in total. One was a huge with blonde hair and blue eyes, another Hyur with hazelnut hair and green eyes and the third being a Lalafell with black pair and brown eyes. They were discussing something when Arala introduced herself like a proper girl. "Hello, my name is Arala Makeo. Daughter to the Makeo family. And what is your names?" She was polite as possible and vowed respectfully. The girls looked among themselves and nodded. The blonde introduced herself and the others. "I'm Tiffany, the brown haired is Sally and that girl is Mimiri. It's nice to meet you." Arala lit up upon hearing then introduced themselves. She couldn't of been happier than to make friends for once! She eagerly got down to it. "So what do you all like to do?! I like to read stories and hope to be a great Paladin like my father!" Yet at that time...Arala has no idea what she was getting herself into...

"Citizens of Ul'dah! We ask any and all able body fighters to gather up at Little ala Mhigo to stop an incoming threat on the Twelfth! If you can heal as well, then come! A person by the name of Quint will be leading this operation! We urge all Civilians to remain calm!" Papers being handed out and hung up around Ul'dah and even in the Goblet boards with bold lettering, the seal of the Immortal Flames and a strong need for any who can fight or heal. The threat however was not described. Simply said as a looming threat. With an urgent need, some may not resist the call. ( More here )

VILLAIN REQUIRED for kidnapping arc. [CLOSED]
Parth Makeo replied to Mithgar Wirasch's topic in Chronicled Connections
From the time i have played villain characters on Forum RPs... Yeah...to make a character to die in ONE session is really off putting. Plus it sounds like just a one off villain rather than say a big named villain or someone who works behind the scenes. Those characters are best played as NPCs rather than actual characters. Reason is because NPCs can be tossed away at any point. I can tell you that most Villain RPers would rather build their villain up and make them memorable BEFORE killing them rather than Twirly mustache, top hat type tying women to train tracks complete with Black and White filter. -
What I hear when people mention those words: Dark RP: Fuck the world and the government, man... Mature RP: oh you mean normal conversation between adults like topics about their sex life with others, opening controversy and racisism, also throwing in some jokes, making fun and so on? I consider the term mature RP not for ERP but a more natural character from age 21+ like any real human. Dark RP makes me groan hard with a passion. I get some appeal but it sometimes makes others look less mature than legit RPers.
