  1. I can - it's just the connection here is shite so I don't want to risk watching video. I'm personally hype. Seems like a fun distraction from trying to get 3-star on everything and then 4-star.
  2. Next week? Yo ullllllllll Anything for us who can't watch video?
  3. If I have access to Second Wind, I run it. It's just too good to ignore on DPS classes. WAR not so much (and I'd rather be UTILITY TANK~ and run Mantra over SW) but still.
  4. Tanks/Heals will NEVER be staffed enough for the needs of any MMO. There are simply too many DPS classes that are fun to play as opposed to these two roles which simply aren't for most players. I lucked out and they made WAR fun as hell for me but until they solve that mechanical problem, it doesn't matter how fast the queues are, it doesn't matter how rewarded you are for it, few people will want to do it.
  5. Due to how bad I've had it with that boss, I try to keep movement to a minimum, I move him out of standards and that's it. If fight goes well I barely cover 1/4th of the outer circle in standards (due to the 2-3 idols which just need crushing instead). So, when I say he wasn't moving, he wasn't moving. Not only that but the healer had previously died SEVERAL TIMES to mechanics he shouldn't have died to. Had they even admitted they were new, I could have explained to them, in detail, how each of the fights we wiped NUMEROUS TIMES on worked and how to best exploit the mechanics for an easier time. As it currently stands, nope.
  6. This Wanderer's Palace HM was so horrible I completely understand why the Tank went abandon ship. First off - THEY DO NOT KNOW THE INSTANCE AND DO NOT TELL ME. I do not believe that at this point in the patch cycle I should automatically assume they haven't done it yet. Especially after I apply partial speedrun strats due to group makeup (only one AoE dealer) and they clear that fine. As in, the totem guy got up to 7 stacks. I was critted for 9k CONSTANTLY (obviously he couldn't keep me up). We wiped two times before I lost my patience and just explained it. They got it. And then... Ja Ja outright wrecked us because none of them can actually dodge AoEs. You know the bigass giant AoE he does? Got hit by it. Worse still, the healer decided the SAFEST PLACE IN ALL THE LAND WAS RIGHT NEXT TO THE TANK ESCAPING A ROT GAS ATTACK (you know, when you position Ja Ja outside of Standard range aka you get an instant cone attack on your ass?) Please tell me group, WHEN is the safest place in all the land right next to the tank? ANSWER : NEVER UNLESS A MECHANIC CALLS FOR IT AND IT WILL BE VERY VERY OBVIOUS. We got it and obviously the only thing I wanted was needed by the DRG fuckhead. Granted, it might help him do more damage which is good in general, but even 3 commendations was NOT worth this stress. This just soured my mood, plus some other shit just made me go "fuck this game".
  7. You know reading that post made me think. It might actually be the Instance Server that's being a dick. Hear me out - When you first start a new character... you're in an instanced version of the cities. Something akin to a Class/Job quest duty. I don't know what structure handles that, but if they beefed that up we could probably have a better attempt at logging in. As in, maybe go back to the "you can log in early mornings" days of yore. Honestly I don't think anyone'd complain about that.
  8. Eh, I'd take "inside feels more" as something he'd push more for, but I wouldn't treat that as gospel. Mostly because they'd have to come up with something else for a new tank. The possibilities are kind of exhausted.
  9. I agree that it can't really be Knight - That usually replaces Paladin when they don't want the class to cast White Magic right out the gate (which also explains why the current Paladin class can crossclass with CNJ - However, the functionality of the Knight class in FF1 is definitely Paladin-like, and more importantly the "Knight" is the titular Warrior of Light as per Dissidia/Theatrhythm). I also personally believe it'll be Samurai, and my personal hopes are that it'll come with Perfect Dodge type mechanics to go with the Swordmaster interpretation of Bravely Default, bringing a reactive way of building threat by successfully doing counters to your enemies' attacks or something to that extent. Alternately, I'll take references to Cyan/Cayenne for 500, with a special bar to charge by NOT attacking. Would be even more blatant because I shouldn't have to spell it out for you people. But here's what could be if it's not the very obvious Samurai - Magic Knight - Though not typically a tank based class, they could easily make it that like they did for Dark Knight. Dark Knights were also not famed for using two-handed swords. (Even the titular Cecil used sword and board and FFIII was so biased towards using dual-wielding we may as well not count it) so they could even have their swords changed. Red Mage - Typically the only "mage" class that can equip good weapons, and in III had their own subclass of weapon that only they could use. Very out of left field, and would certainly be something meaty enough in mechanics to warrant playing. Blue Mage - Though IIRC I heard that they would never implement this class due to the difficulty of matching it with XIV's system, I feel that since they'd be tanks, it would also make sense that their abilities come from experiencing enemies' attacks. Though I have to admit, Self-Destruct on a Tank sounds like the best way to troll groups so I doubt that'd ever happen even if I want it really bad. Here's what could NOT be - Berserker/Viking - Too close in inspiration to Warrior in XIV for them to really be implemented. Viking has the maritime inspiration to the Marauder, and Berserker led us to the Inner Beast mechanic. Geomancer - Though the power of the Earth could very well offer interesting armor, it's too close in theme to Conjurer for it to be a thing, but tanking with Bells would be hilarious.
  10. I'm not super familiar with server structures beyond what I've gleamed playing MMOs and through my job, but it really feels it's less of a problem with the server than a design decision when it comes to the lock. Is there any difference between creating a character and logging on one? There shouldn't be that much of a difference.
  11. Expect nobody else from XIV is more the idea - and I'd wager whichever one you fight at the end of the MSQ would be a possible baddie rep, assuming XIV even gets one. Not every game gets multiple hero reps - IV, V (Gilgamesh counts... right?), VII, VIII and X are the only ones that have them I think (which I think is BOLLOCKS and we should have gotten at least Celes if not Locke in 012 but that's just me - I also think Lionheart from II should be in there but his schtick is kinda covered by Cecil. Also, Hildibrand in this game would make a modicum of sense since Gilgamesh is in it, and they have history. HOWEVER, seeing as Hildibrand never really fights his own battles, if he shows up it's probably as the tutorial dude in a console-release.
  12. this thread went from 0 to honk in no time flat. All right, let me lay it down for most of you because you don't seem to understand this little thing. WE DO NOT OWN BALMUNG. Get it? Got it? Good. Anyone saying that the restrictions are good because they keep the riff-raff off the server hasn't yet realized that the riff-raff is already here, they were here before they themselves were here chances are. If you were here from day 1, they got into Beta. Anyone saying that we'd be caving in to non-RPers or whatever have you needs to stop that right now because it's not our server. It's an UNofficial RP server, and UN doesn't stand for United Nations in this. It stands for "non" as in "not" as in "SE don't owe us shit". With that said, I feel the need to address another thing. * * * Chances are, if you want a smooth gameplay experience, it's not on their toaster of a login server, it's on your toaster of a computer (worse still, PS3) or your line being ass (and this has SO MANY possible reasons for it I'm not going to fault you if it is). I have a computer that is severely hampered by my graphics card and the only time I have problems are twofold - Odin and Hunts. Their instance server being atrocious is already documented but that has nothing to do with the restrictions on Balmung since that combines people on the same Data Center. The problem is that we can't devise proper workarounds beyond transferring onto Balmung because we have no idea what the hell is going on in those locks. If it's the botters ruining it, then yeah there's not much we can do about that except double down on the reports and essentially help SE catch them in the act so they can actually do something about it. If it's AFKers we can do our part in logging out. If it's all on their end we can raise the issue often and loudly that they start thinking it's a good idea to not run their login server on a toaster. More importantly, we have an expac launching with a new race. Imagine how hard it's gonna be to make your inevitable Au Ra alt.
  13. Yeah I know they could have picked an actually interesting choice that has a backstory and, y'know, actual character. I can understand in Theatrhythm why they'd pick Catgirl With Twig but c'mon. The good news from this is that if they stick to Theatrhythm roster for the most part, there's a chance mah boi Benjamin makes it in. Also, since this is 3v3 I'm fairly sure we'll see more representatives overall. You don't want a 3v3 game with a roster under 30 and IIRC 012 only scratched that with the special characters (and that's if you count Feral Chaos). Not expecting a TTT2-level roster, but I'm expecting a lot more than before.
  14. Probably Elmo since he's the one that'll have to actually buy the plot.
  15. (I guessed the nationality, or at least, the primary language of the OP by reading "biais".) This is all chill. Will read later and edit this post for comment. Just wanted to say that.
  16. Why are they going after artists rather than RMT sellers? They are not going after artists. They're clarifying a position that did not seem immediately clear to prevent having to go after artists. They WANT to go after RMT sellers as much as possible and they'd certainly rather do that than prevent any of the fine artists here making a quick gil making fanart. No matter what the activity proposed for in-game cash, unless it is performed in-game, goes against the ToS. At the same time, taking that kind of hard stance also helps them go after RMT customers and providers from a legal standpoint since they're showing that they're enforcing their ToS. What if we openly discuss the ways we want to circumvent this policy? That's incredibly dumb and makes life harder for most of us because almost everything on this site uses assets and art from FFXIV which is used under a certain provision that FreelanceWizard posted IIRC. If it gets up to their legal department that this place's a hotbed for RMT, regardless of how "harmless" it is they'll shut that shit down and for some reason I do not want the magic admin hat to tango with S-E's legal department. It tends to never end well for anyone, unless you're SNKPlaymore, and even then that case + counter-suit is still pending. tl;dr : policy's stupid but needed, don't be as stupid pls.
  17. Reminds me of a time where a dude was very, very forceful at your typical free hugs thing you see at anime cons. One spinning bearhug later, he had enough of that shit. Consent before you glomp, folks.
  18. Likely they won't act unless someone reports, much like in those situations. That being said, it's still against the ToS and it's a bad look to openly advertise it now
  19. I'm KIND of surprised they'd interpret that stance as such but it does add up. Kinda sucks because I know I might complain about how poor I am in game but it doesn't match my poverty status IRL. I don't have a challenge log IRL to give me that kind of pocket change.
  20. Person who bought me at the auction gave me an Arachne Shirt of Striking.
  21. That's what I meant by that. Ripe for abuse on both sides, especially if it's known that these two specific peoples (and I'd wager it's ONLY Duskwights and Keepers that have links to those back then) have a sort of "exemption" from the Gridanian laws (though not the laws of the forest, which look like they are unwritten.) Pretty much would "justify" (in a OOC sense) the blatant Gridanian racism.
  22. It's a consistent RP spot that gets talked about a lot around here.
  23. I don't think this is pact related - Otherwise anyone can traipse around in the Shroud, do whatever they wish, without fearing the Elementals. Unless what you mean is that the Elementals could just not care about the Keepers' poaching (I've not seen Duskwights... anywhere quite frankly, other than Dzemael and the two archaeologists trying to show that Duskwights are good peeps honest in South Shroud) and that the Wailers are using the pact as an excuse to just trample over what they view as excessive hunting. * * * As far as IC peoples saying they're from an OOC group enforcing the law, I don't think I've ever encountered someone like this here, but in previous games I've never had a positive interaction with anyone pretending to be that, so I'm in no rush to get involved in that kind of RP.
