Light Steel/Taffeta were mostly there because you couldn't dye these sets originally and made for a decent enough reason to grind crafting. Seeing as we're going to go into an expansion soon there's no point in grinding crafting to 4-star (I personally want 3-star Weaver because it's the only universal male skirt in the game). It's not like there'll be anything past 4-star, and likely all that melded shit will be replaced with a level 51 HQ crafting piece. Although, we don't know what kind of gear will be expected of us in the expansion.

Well, with my alts I've been trying to speedrun 1-15/Out of City as fast as possible. I have a horrible time (Around the 3 hour 30 minutes mark) because I tend to be distracted. On Kell himself I don't think I do anything to be challenged - The lack of anything accessible for me without having to deal with the game's typical playerbase or that I haven't thoroughly smashed is kind of getting to me.

I wouldn't call it a movie but there's early picture shows that weren't exactly what we would call a movie that would fit with Eorzea's tech level. It'd also fit with the usage of the word "drawed". Garlemald would, as mentioned before, likely have actual cameras.

Keep in mind also that PCs tend to have higher literacy rates than most in RP because otherwise that cuts into A LOT of story-writing potential. How many DMs gave Barbarians the ability to read in early DND3.0 because the Barb was being an obtuse prick about that? And as you mention, an adventurer that can't read would have a hard time doing the following : - Grand Company Hunts - Leves (IIRC most of them are recorded on paper) - Hunting Log (you know what it looks like, but not where it can maybe be found) - Navigate a map - etc. It's safe to say that if you're an adventurer, you're at least a functioning illiterate person or you have someone to read for you. Which actually works btw - plenty illiterate folks are able to perform their duties if they have someone to read for them.
