=>INESSA, I GROW TIRED OF THE CHATBOX BEING FLOODED BY NAUL JOKES FROM THE IMPUDENT MASSES. SLAY IT IMMEDIATELY. You dont know what the hell a chatbox is. Is it some kind of contraption or ancient allagan device? Who knows... =>Inessa, strife with the lad who just tossed a lalafell down the street. You would have drawn steel on the man by now and fought him... that's if the Lalafell was dead. The little man is fine and well but a bit bruised from the experience. You decide to ignore him. =>INESSA, DRESS UP IN A SEXY MAID OUTFIT AND PERFORM FANSERVICE FOR THE PEASANT MASSES. What?
-
=>INESSA, DO THE PREVIOUS COMMAND THIS INSTANT. You defy the voice in you're head that makes such rude demand's of you. You are thinking of bleating like a goat. Isn't that enough? =>Fine. Inessa, what would you rather do then? You wish to spend you're time helping others and playing with children. Despite how much you can piss off others, children always seem to love and want to play games with you, and when there are not other pressing matters to attend to, you oblige them, playing games such as tag or hide and seek. =>BOOOOORING. INESSA, KILL SOMETHING ALREADY. You outright refuse the notion of killing another person. You are okay with killing monsters and hunting animal's for sustenance, but you refuse the thought of killing another person unless they are the first to agress you.
-
This mainly cam from a bout of random and funny insanity that happened across several Linkshells yesterday. The concept is simple, basically, command your characters as you would command them to do something if this were an old insert command based adventure RPG. The command itself doesn't have to be serious. It can be stupid and insane. and you're characters may not listen to you're command if they don't want too, but you still have to write out a short RP segment of how they react to the almost non-existent voice that gave them the command. ._. Ill go first. => Inessa, throw off you're clothes and dance like a ballerina in a public area while bleating like a goat. Reaction: What insanity is this? You wouldn't dare to throw you're clothes off in a public place, and the idea of dancing like a ballerina fills you're stomach with disgust. You will however, contemplate bleating like a goat, especially during a battle, where you're battle cry that sound's like a bleating goat will be the symphony that heralds you're foe's imminent and brutal demise.

I kind of worded what I meant wrong then. I know that RP doesn't revolve around the Echo specifically. its the characters that are the star. I was just saying that since the Echo is there, it will be something that you would be playing with eventually. It will become a relevant mechanic to center around for a plot or two or just random RP I guess but IDK, in the end, we are still are the creators and we play with what we give our characters.
-
but... that doesn't make any sense. If you have the Echo, you're obviously going to have to revolve RP around the mechanic eventually. Its only really a matter of time till you have too. Either that or I just dont grasp the concept of having a cool toy to play with but not playing with it intentionally. @_@
-
The only thing I've seen people use the Echo for in RP is to explain how they can do IC Primal runs. Yeah but for all purposes, that would still be considered using it for RP, which my point still stands that its nothing more than a head decoration outside of primals if you dont use it for relevant RP purposes every now and then, but hey, its not my character so I dont really care how people RP with theirs if they have the echo.
-
Agreed, Echo users arent exactly the most background group characters. If you have the Echo, you have a power beyond the grasp of most people, thus making you important. So they tell themselves. :cactuar: Well to be honest, whats the point of having the echo if you wont use it in RP? Not that I care how people choose to play characters, but if you don't use the Echo for RP reasons every now and then, its nothing better than a head decoration for a character.

It's not impossible to play a character with the Echo, but there are general rules and restrictions that apply to it. So far as I know, the Echo can give you three benefits: The ability to see past and future events based on visions. Causes temporary sickness akin to aether sickness. The Echo grant's you extraordinary power to fight when you're in dire straights. The Echo allows you to understand the language of other foreign races or people. The general rule to this is that you cannot have all of them. You can only have one and that benefit sticks with the character permanently. Only the 1.0 warrior's of Light and the 2.0 warrior of light (IE: the player character) can have all the powers available from the echo. Also, players with the Echo are completely resistant to things that can control or influence them such as Primal tempering or Dragons enthralling. Generally, a few people play characters with the Echo, but if you play it, it need's to be done in a tasteful manner. Keep the secret you have it on the down low and only mention it when it's relevance is very important to the current RP.

Didn't Admiral Marylwb dual wield flintlocks during the cutscene quest before the Leviathan HM story mode fight? Or am I just imagining things? On another note. AIRSHIPS. <3 -

Maybe Yoshi-P will pull a fast one on us and give us a surprise present (which is the gunner class) and we would be none the wiser of its imminent approach. -
Into the deep (Voidknight Citadel Event) (Closed) (IC only)
LiveVoltage replied to LiveVoltage's topic in Town Square (IC)
Inessa took a moment while everyone was taking in the scenery and environment to look around the corner and into the entrance of the sewers which eventually faded into complete black at a distance. The sewers smelled mostly clean, so either undead were not down there or they have been vacant in the area for a long while. Either way, she wasn't about to let her guard down. She opens up her satchel, pulling out a few matches and a lantern in order to help guide them through the dark. She light's the lantern but the sound of a tripping and apologizing Miqo'te catches her attention. As the flame ignites the oil in the lamp to give them light, she walks over to the fallen Miqo'te and extends him her right hand in a effort to help him up, her left hand occupied by the Lantern. "Need help?" Inessa said to A'rytiss in a gentle tone. ((Event log has been updated)) -
Ive never seen any archers. ._. At least when I moderated the weekend before last, no archers participated to my recollection.
-
There have been archers and dagger throwers. The magic part is an issue, the ranged is not. Bows were a thing? I didnt know that, lol.
-
I think 4v4 is fine. Keep the way it is. However, I would not like to see magic or ranged users allowed to participate. The Grindstone has been about melee vs melee. Not magic or ranged.
-
Registering our team for the tourney. Inessa Hara Aaron Glacier Niklas Gran Caex'ra Vaeriar We haven't decided on a team name yet but go ahead and mark out team name as "Steel Reason". We will change it when we agree to something.
-
I would have to agree with Warren and Berrod. I ran the grindstone about a weekend before last and it was incredibly unnerving and difficult for me. I thank the twelve that the rules weren't complicated. In short, if this is going to be an annual version of the tournament, it should be the exact same as the regular grindstone, just with teams though. I do think that if this is going to be 4v4, they should all choose one person they will fight first OOCly and both group agree to that then until that fight is finished, then they can go around and gang up on the opposing team. This rule would prevent a single person from the oppisite team being singled out at the begining and being ganged up on.

Expansion Announced: Heavensward, releasing Spring 2015
LiveVoltage replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV News
@Coatleque Well what did you expect then? Most games with RPG mechanics and story's are played be leveling up and going through a storyline and I cant possible think of a single game that hasn't done this. (This is excluding non-RPG games though.) Okay, so there is ONE game I can think of thats an RPG that hasnt done this in exact terms and that's last remnant. There is no level system, but they have this thing called battle rank which levels up based on the number of battles and how difficult they were and characters have their stats increased based on their selective units performance in battle and the games story arc can be progressed (and completed) at any battle rank, even at the lowest possible level. Quests can also be taken and completed at any level as well. Back to my point though. If this was MMO like guild wars 2 were players could play and complete the game at level they want or go about the story in any way they choose then maybe, but Final Fantasy XIV is built in a way that would require a complete overhaul like they did with 1.0 for it to work. Basically, the game, built the way it is, accomplishes the style in which it was built for perfectly. Some people may not like it. Others will, but it does what it was styled to do perfectly. @Warren I am sure the developer's are considering how they will be balancing the current classes to work with a new level cap and they will most likely implement something to balance it out. -

LiveVoltage replied to Zyrusticae's topic in FFXIV News
I dont see the problem with increased level cap. At worst, we would just be reworking hotbars and learning new rotations. Thats not going to kill anybody. At best, we get a whole new addition of skills and abilities, new classes and probably more cross class skill slots or classes we can cross class with. At most, the maximum amount of time you would spend on reorganizing you're hotbars is an hour at best. -
((Everyone who is participating in the event.)) ((Event log to keep track of who goes first to who goes last and to keep track of all the actions in the event.)) ((Time: Midday)) ((Weather: Storm Clouds, High Chance of Rain)) Voidknight Citadel, once home to a notorious villan in outer La Noscea, now layed in ruin's and crawling with undead after her defeat three year's ago. Many adventurers have come here to the citadel in search of treasure and riches but all who enter its hall's never leave alive or are heard from again. The Citadel rests on top of a Plateau and the only known entrance to most people is through the front gate's of the fortress, which are teeming with undead usually. However, there was a second entrance, a sewer outlet at the bottom of the Plateau, where it ran next to a river. The sewer complex under the Citadel was virtually a labaryinth and ran through the entirety of the Plateau, and now a new group, a combination of hero's and adventurer's along with a guide who knew of this hidden entrance, take advantage of it to sneak into the Citadel, without having to encounter the teeming undead near the gates. The ship dock's next to what appears to be a makeshit pier, most likely created by Queen, the necromancer who once reigned over the mountian like royalty, to be a hidden dock for her undead thralls to bring more captured women and men to be victims of her necromancy, without outside forces attempting to rescue them. The guide is the first person of the boat... As the ship pulled up, Inessa was the first one to walk off it and onto the dock. She grabbed one of the ropes and tied it to the dock to prevent it from drifting off, motioning Niklas and Anelia to grab one of the ropes and do the same. As she finished tying the knot that bound the ship in place, she took a good look of her surroundings. To the west was the other side of the river. Jungle and rain forest. To the sky was clouds, set to rain on the area shortly and their present enviorment did not show signs of enemys. She could feel the raw power of Darkness pulsating from the Citadel high above her and her compatriots. The pressure and power it gave off was greatly unnerving and oppressive but it would not deter Inessa. since she was not someone trained in the magic art's, the fact that she could feel the raw pressure told her that something of great power awaited them, deep within the Bowl's of the Citadel.

Forgot about the Dravanian for a moment there. Yeah, but its essentially a war against Dragons, but the thralls the dragons have enslaved are a legitimate evil threat that would paint the inquisitors and knights in a good light. (I do agree with youre Lawful Neutral statement though Jariana.) The thralled vassals of the dragons make blood sacrifices to the Dragons which they call their gods and they do abduct people and give them to the Dragons to be thralled so there is a legitimate evil threat right there, granted the threat is exclusive to the mountains. Since Ryoko doesn't most likely have the echo, I would avoid an infiltration plot, cause they are just going to get her thralled if they catch her or if she try's to infiltrate them. Another thing you could do is shadow a Dragoon. Just an idea aside from temple knights and inquisitors. (Normal one's, not the Azure Dragoon mind you.) Also, keep in mind though that Dragoon isn't really so much as a class, but a formal ishgardian title awarded to knights that slay a massive dragon in battle. To what extent massive would be, I dont know, but the most elite temple knights that have Dragoon soul stone would also be the ideal group to follow. A last thought is just being a cleric of the holy see without having to shadow anyone. Attending to the pope is one way to also gain the desire and holy doctrine to be a witch hunter, but I digress. I had to learn alot about Ishgardian stuff since Inessa is a Dragoon secretly ICly. (no backstory spoilers for why btw.) So if you need to know anything about Ishgardian culture or lore, just ask. I know a ton.

Since the OP just wants an honest opinion, might as well drop several pieces. 1) In my strange head cannon, it would make more sense for the parents to be from Grid/Limsa rather than Grid/Coerth. It's not uncommon or unheard of for Miqo'te in Limsa to have inter-species relations. The difficult aspect though you would need to apply to it is genetics. Since her mother was Miqo and her father Hyur, she will be taller, more beefy and be less cat like and with skin tones balancing between both races than the average miqo. Would still have her ear's, tail or anything genetically ancestral. Grid x Ishgard on the other hand would be weird and touchy. They seem to be the types to be... only interested in those of the same race. They probably (not canon mind you) Have a form of arranged marriages, mostly determined when they are young. Would make an interesting love based history for them to be honest, but since they probably weren't married (or were and I didn't read this thoroughly) Ryoko would probably be a bastard child of sorts since she wasn't a wed-born child. This wont change their parental relationship between father and daughter much, but she wont be recognized as a legitimate child of his by others. 2) They would probably operate something like the KGB or the CIA. Undercover knights and inquisitors of Ishgard who have a skill for subtlety and espionage. I mean, they are pridefull and traditional, like the Gridanians, but riling up the Grand Companys by slaying what they would call herritics in the streets who havent been tried or convicted by the laws of the city state reflects poorly on the Ishgardians and that would also make them borderline or full blown extremists. (*cough* Much like Isis in the middle east. *cough*) 3) Probably not. She may have an ice affinity, but formal training in the Manipulation of one's personal Aether is required. That said, she could pose a much higher resistance to cold weather/things and ice magic than others. 4) Honestly, it all depends on the look you like ICly, there is no definite outfit one can recommend, but experimentation with outfits is a recommendation I would make so just play around with different apparel and stuff. You might find a set you like. 5) Knight apprentice, retainer of a knight or cleric/inquisitor or an apprentice cleric to an inquisitor. Generally, if you want to follow a holy doctrine/mandate of hunting witches, you need to be in the Lawful Good spectrum, which is basically Paladin alignment right there. A clerical apprentice to a Inquisitor means more direct hands on experience, but it also means the PC will develop a Zealot doctrine and will be solidified in the highest Lawful Good sphere of influence (Basically, the become rule-aholic's that don't care for anything save following mandate and helping others so long as it falls into this mandate). (Unless they become evil that is.) A knight retainer or apprentice however will be more involved with the more dangerous side of being a witch hunter and will usually have to risk their lives attempting to kill witches that are too dangerous to be captured and tried for heresy and witchcraft. They will be the more lenient of two, but will still largely be Lawful good, but they have more flexibility and are capable of bending the rules if it does even more good. They will not be able to break rules however. (unless they turn evil.) Hope this input help's!

How do people view the fighting on the Carteneau Flats?
LiveVoltage replied to LiveVoltage's topic in RP Discussion
Titor bro, its me, Inessa. I haven't even been around the forum for at least a month so I dont know who youre talking about. As for the death concept, whatever floats youre boat's guys. I follow the concept of "you only live once." so if you die, you die. There is no atheric displacement. You dont get a second chance. :I Though I find this thread to have been a good talk. Lot's of way's too look at the frontline battle's now instead of thinking about it as unnofical warfare. Thanks everyone. ((You guys can continue to talk about this if you want. I found what I wanted to know.)) -
How do people view the fighting on the Carteneau Flats?
LiveVoltage replied to LiveVoltage's topic in RP Discussion
Well to be honest, the player (you) might not kill, but other people who fight might. Generally, I just tend to go with whatever the person im RPing with considers cannon lore. I think the idea was just to make it clear. Obviously, alot of people a few groups of people on the RPC are going to might get up in arm's about lore but I dont really care for it if it gives me a good story to play with. A few things I noticed however is you said 'accident'. That still means that there ARE people who die, be it through injury by their opponent or a injury that results from an unfortunate mishap, such as falling off a cliff and falling to youre death. Casualties are still casualties regardless of how they come about on the battlefield and someone will be held responsible. By all rights, this would still be considered and unofficial war, even if they arent murdering or killing each other on the field or are not intentionally trying too.
