I wouldn't say its a red flag for "bad" rp, but more that I might not get much enjoyment from it. I'm not a huge fan of when people spend more time sitting in the quicksand talking about things they've done, rather than going out and actually doing stuff. It's fine if you like a more passive form of storytelling, but it seems like you'd be better off writing your own literature at that point.

Yes. You're wrong on that last point. Please read my post. It's really frustrating to read this thread and feel like everything I'm saying is being ignored, despite being based half in lore from the very book you're all citing, and half in lore you can literally read in the ubiquitous Naming Conventions thread. It alone confirms Roegadyn and Lalafell have their own language, and characterises Roegadyn as dying, but does no such thing for Lalafell. It also strongly implies that Elezen either have or had their own language (because the naming conventions only make sense if they're based in a language with deeper meaning). The rest is from the lore book. Okay my wording was off (like how I referred to Hyedalyn as Eorzea) but ultimately my point is that this common, Hyuran language is even more universal than English in the real world. Yeah you've got regional native languages here and there, but the primary language is one so universal, so unopposed, that there's not even a name for it. It's literally just "the common tongue," as you said.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the races of men in Eorzea have largely adopted a universal language. I mean you of course have your region-specific words, like the Garlean psuedo-latin or the occasional japanese or french the Domans and Ishgardians (respectively) like to throw in, but those are likely hold-overs from their ancestral languages, or divergent dialects resulting from geographic isolation or local culture. Anyway, I'm not away of any race of men that actually has a unique language at this point. Am I wrong?

We've established through a number of quests that the North Shroud is less than a day's worth of walking from Camp Dragonhead. You'd think they'd just produce the firesand there and ship it back...

I was gonna wait until the first time it went on sale, but my dad already bought it and we share a steam account. Still, I'm going to get all the 3.1 stuff done first before I seriously start playing it.

I really just want them to focus on the Gothic theme just long enough that I can get a Gothic Knight tank set. Ishgardian architecture be damned, I will not accept this as a Gothic expansion until this helmet exists ingame. And it better have a damn good /visor animation.

Perhaps we have different definitions of Gothic. Gothic, to me, pertains to the Holy Roman Empire, and all the things that come with that. Which Ishgard itself reflects very heavily, but which the gearsets largely neglect. Gothic and Victorian don't go together super well. It'd be kind of like having a 1930s gangster theme where everyone is a cowboy. Different eras with very different cultures and aesthetics.

I continue to be frustrated at how little is actually being done with the Ishgard theme. They claim they want to make a gothic high-fantasy expansion, then do almost nothing related to gothic high-fantasy. At this point, I'm about willing to chalk it up to Square Enix not actually knowing what gothic fantasy is. I seriously think they need to get some Americans or Brits on the art team so we can get gear like this

Hello! Mishka and I are finally looking for an FC to actually do stuff with. We're looking for an RP FC, but we're particularly interested in doing the Island Exploration stuff in 3.1. We do come as a package deal, so it's both of us or neither! RP-wise, we're a couple of small-time bandits treasure hunters with a dubious understanding of the world and are easily influenced by others. If you could use a couple of strange little cat-people whose only talents are getting into small spaces and taking stuff that doesn't belong to them, we're looking for a home!

Not seeing much casual RP around Coerthas anymore, is everyone just one break until 3.1 or am I just getting unlucky? Gonna try to start making it to the tavern night things, but my job makes it hard. Which is a shame, because I remember tavern rp being really fun back before 3.0.

I imagine I'd get a lot less "Marisa is soooo cute <3" and a lot more "The **** is wrong with you?" From casually stealing things in plain sight, to refusing to wear pants, and everything in between, I feel like boy Marisa wouldn't make it a day before getting his ass kicked by somebody a lot bigger than him.

I do believe the Dragon-Killers are closer to harpoons than ballistae. Which is admittedly a very minor difference, but the dragon killers seem to have tethers attached so that they can impale a dragon, then be used to pull it to the ground. Or, at least some of them are used that way. But as Nodem said, they're most likely a black powder weapon.

So I got to talk to Richard Epcar for a moment today, and I asked him about his role as Gaius. He had no idea if there would ever be a return of Gaius, but he said he loved the character and would jump at the chance to do him again. BUT! He told me he's been recording for Heavensward, and he's the new big villain for an upcoming patch. I didn't hear the name well, but it sounded like Ailur (he pronounced it "eye - lur). Not a ton to go on, but we know Richard Epcar is back, and he's the big baddy again. So that's something!

Bit of a side note: Autism may make everyday living a struggle, but it's theorized that autism is actually advantageous in solitary survival situations. The lack of need for socialization and obsession over details and patterns should, in theory, make those with autism outstanding hunter/gatherers. So basically what I'm saying is that, for a lone adventurer, certain disorders could be played as strengths as well as weaknesses.

This probably won't work for most people, but I tend to emote that I'm stealing random shit until someone steps in and stops me. Typically gets some active rp going.
