Please reconsider the next time you think about making a "punting lalas" joke. We all have our breaking points. Even your spine.

I would argue that, in all likelihood, Seeker females are already in control of their own reproductive choices. A nunh is not an alpha male or a master of a harem; he's a clan-designated sperm dispenser. I'd like to add that I do not say this to disparage the title of Nunh or the RPers that use it, but rather because the very common notion of assuming that the Nunh have power is one derived from our IRL cultures which largely equate sex and reproduction with power. You misunderstand immensely the point of what I said. My point wasn't that the males or females had more power over one another, but if that "heat" was involved, it'd mean having to adhere to a strict mating schedule based solely upon the females bodily needs. Rather than simply adhering to their desires, they become slaves to what is biologically necessary.
-
It'd be an interesting concept, since "heat" implies that you can breed only during this time. That would put the whole breeding act in the females hand to control and schedule, which would be an interesting reversal of power from what we know of Sun Seeker culture.

I am a dog in real-life. It's why I refuse to associate with miqo'te.

That day is Kino's birthday, and I respect it's real-life calendar equivalent. She has gone up in age twice since the start of ARR.

The Ronin artwork just screams "potentially badass lala" too.

Ugh, so many Etrian Odyssey feels.

This. I think "class" in regards to the usage of weapons mostly applies to people who have that as a particular career or study under that specific guild. Someone who uses an axe isn't automatically a "Marauder," unless they trained with the Marauder's Guild, for example.

In response to people taking Primal fights ICly...
Kinono replied to Ghostinthecat's topic in RP Discussion
If you want to RP the main scenario, go for it. No one is stopping you. It sounds like fun, and I welcome you to have fun! But I'm also welcome to laugh at you when you approach me and then say "Off to kill Titan again! Wish me luck!" (this has happened to me a few times) The long and short of it is that within a bubble you can have fun however you want, but opening your bubble out to the world at large means, by definition, you have to accept people's reactions at face value. As a social activity, people are welcome to exclude you if they want. No one is forcing you to play with me, and I'm not forcing myself on you. -
That's the thing for me... I honestly don't see Lalafell as childlike. Even speaking purely physically, I just don't. They're far enough removed from Tarutaru to me to not look it, and the proportions of lalas are different enough from human that they're far removed from human children. If I saw a real-life person that had the porportions of a lalafell, I'd assume they were an adult that had dwarfism. The heads of lalas are HUGE. Our hips are HUGE. I read them more as "fey" than "child." But... I can't really blame people all the same. The mannerisms and emotes just scream "childishness." Lalafell stumble when they use the huge Realm Reborn bottles, we waddle like some sort of toddler when we walk, and even SE seems to recognize the resemblance because when we wear revealing clothes, we get slightly more coverage than other races. I recognize the issue, even if I myself don't see it. It's just one of those things. Just because I can successfully separate doesn't mean others can, and no amount of words will ever change what other people perceive, and I can't blame them for that.

Kinono would start reading 50 Shades of Grey and buy out the nearest Liquor Store...

I could tell from the pixels, and from having seen quite a few shoops in my time.

I'm still of the opinion that there's probably not as much difference as people seem to assume there is, but that's just me! There's just... no physical reason to actually believe a roegadyn is any different from a hyur or a miqo'te in that regard.
-
Ahh... I tend to have very much the opposite opinion/experience. Many people I tend to deal with admit that they wouldn't romantically deal with a lalafell but for (the obvious) purely OoC reasons. I don't think I've actually ever met anyone ICly who's referred to lalafell as looking childlike. Though, granted... I play a lalafell exclusively, so maybe they're just hiding it from me!
-
I'm gonna be self-serving and just talk about examples of it in my own RP, because that's the hand I got and I wanna contribute! Kinono has dated two miqo'tes before, but they were both of the... "no risk of baby-making" variety. Based on what I've seen in quests, at least, dating and relationships seem not to matter so much, and the current belief is that it's the offspring that the populace would have a problem with. Now, Kino is married within her own race/clan, but during a random off-hand conversation where they were talking about their experiences with other races, and the fact that lalafell tend to not have a problem dating non-lalafell, while the opposite tends to not be as true (based on interactions with PC characters, nothing lore-abiding). Her husband, Babazan commented that it's "easier to ignore stigma when you're the relative outlier," which... seems to be a very universal truth, even outside our given setting.

I think it's worth randomly mentioning for the other topic here that there that there is an unofficial, literal translation of...

This is something that's always hand-waved in every MMO RPG ever. Pregnancy occurs when desired, and not when it isn't. There's always some handy explanation ranging from good luck to contraceptive herbal remedies (which are universally effective and available!) Fantasy is fantasy This isn't always necessarily true. I came up with Kino's pregnancy very suddenly and without really even thinking about it mid-session, flipped a coin, and just rolled with it. The randomness of it, and the fact that I couldn't have shared the plans with Kino's partner even if I wanted to very much helped the whole scene play out more realistically as an unplanned pregnancy.

It may very well be just me. My FC has died out from under me so I have to keep RP to a fairly open circle. I've met a lot of, ahem, characters.
-
This whole post is actually kinda my view on it. Yeah "do what you want and eff the haters" sounds really great and empowering, but... Unless you are keeping your RP within a really tight circle, everything has a ripple effect. You have to take SOME responsibility for your character and their actions and their repercussions and what you do or suggest within the provided setting. What you do and how you act is going to have an effect on other characters, and whatever characters they interact with. I know what I'm capable of believing but Kino is sort of a blank slate in a lot of different areas of knowledge. The biggest frustrations for me, is trying to wrap my head around in-characterly handling completely conflicting information. I'm not that type of person that likes to disregard people, characters or encounters at all, even if they go entirely against what I know to be true. One person Kino trusts is changing their form all the time because "fantasia flows like water thanks to the alchemist's guild," while another character Kino trusts staunchly tells her that such a thing is beyond our current ken. Okay. One friend gets pregnant through [MAGIC MEANS] while modern biology (and I assume the common opinion of characters in-game) tells us this isn't possible. How does Kino, or any other character, react to the fact that there is conflicting information on THINGS THAT WOULD BE COMMON KNOWLEDGE. Imagine, if you will, a real-life scenario where your best friend or significant other suddenly came forth and told you they just didn't believe in cats. Like, flat-out didn't believe they existed. You'd probably say "look at these videos" or "but I own a cat" or "but we own a cat." But they just shook their head and emphasized that cats don't exist. You'd think they were crazy. And I would hate, hate, hate having to treat every other godsdamned person I meet like they're a lunatic because they choose to "eff the haters" rather than read some dialouge. Okay, sorry about that. Rant over. I swear I'm like, the least lore-nazi person ever, but sometimes I hate having to compile this stuff.

These two sentences directly contradict each other.

...I read the title and briefly thought I was about to hear of an idea for a sitcom. -
It's totally natural to be defensive of your main race, especially if you feel others in particular are contributing to some sort of bad stereotype. I get really weirdly irked when I see people use lalafell to play children of other races. I know it's a common thing across MMOs (gnomes were used for the same thing in WoW) and that there really aren't many other options, but still... In short: It's okay to find things silly/annoying so long as you're willing to not completely write people off and admit that maybe you're the one being silly sometimes!

There's probably a big difference between a bright-eyed and literally bushy-tailed teen versus a hardened soldier or adventurer. Cat-person or not, learning to conceal/hide emotions is very much a typical and regular skill.
-
I don't think it's just FemRoes. I've seen quite a bit of GLBT disposition across almost all the races. I'm definitely guilty of this, and I have nothing to point to to say Kino should or shouldn't be totally okay with it (barring bringing up modernity) other than the fact that that one shopkeeper lady was totally okay with announcing to passing strangers she was marrying another lady. But yeah, I dunno. Kinono is totally okay with it.

A lot of people have the wrong idea about them in general so if you even show hints of promiscuity then you're going to get slapped by the judgemental hand of Lord Stereotype. I find this a good question. For example -- up until recent developments I played Berrod as a very sexually charged character. He sometimes went out of his way to display his attractiveness, down to the sort of clothes he wore. He had zero problem calling lewdly to women in public, and would often strut about with a blatant "You definitely wanna fuck me" attitude. Yet -- he never got the reputation of being a gutterslut. Was it because Highlanders don't have the same sort of societal construct as Miqo'te? I could never figure it out. Well, if a MIQO'TE does it, it's being slutty. If a Manlander does it, it's just RPing. Obviously we're suffering from fantasy racism. And if a lalafell does it, a black van shows up in my dri-
