  1. Hey folks, we’re halfway through March already, where does the time go? In general news, we’ve been having a little recruitment wave and have a bunch of new members, yay! Say welcome to Camerin, Rey, Natsume, Cyndollyn and A’nuada! They’re settling in pretty well, attending their first events and getting to know the crew. Speaking of events… The crew has done a bunch of them the past month. They killed a moth, got sweet, sweet revenge on a pesky Lalafell and battled against mammets. However, the Dreads did something that they’d probably never admit outside their circle. They were, dun dun DUN, DEFEATED! By moogles, of all things. Good job to Abrenard and Shiori for making the fight challenging and proving to be a bit too much for the skypirates to handle. It was extremely amusing for the crew to get dunked on for a change using our combat system. We’ve also been enjoying our freestyle events too, with Remy’s Doom Train and K’hatos’ continuation of the Azys Lla story. The Doom Train proved to be confusing yet interesting, the crew having to think on their feet to save their loot and get out alive without having a strange Allagan contraption killing them. And the trials in Azys Lla prove to be even more vexing, the most recent event seemed to be a morale conundrum for some. The Dread Wyrms are still taking applications currently, so if you want to be a part of the shenanigans click here. We're also looking for potential FC collaborations for plotlines and events, so if you're interested please PM me. That's it for now, take care folks!
  2. A little bump with some good news! We've recently picked up a handful of awesome new members but we're still looking for a couple more. Preferably mechanics/machinists, possibly a few healers and definitely some Roegadyn. Gotta have us some Roe. If you're interested, join our crew here! I'm also interested in possibly collaborating with other RP-FCs/groups for some events, whether this is a plot of some kind or perhaps a public RP event. We've done both of these before and had a blast, so I wouldn't mind hooking up with some peeps and sorting something out. If you have any ideas for what a Skypirate crew with a nice fancy mansion and a whole bunch of airships can do, feel free to drop a message on this thread or PM me. Thanks for reading!
  3. I agree with pretty much everything said here. Really research the FCs you're joining and make sure they're the type of FC you want. How active do they say they are? Do they host any public RP events or their own private ones, and how frequent are they? Try to attend these events and see for yourself how often they roleplay and in what style, etc. You can also browse their websites and see how active their forums are and that sort of thing. Also try to make friends OOC within the company, either by joining the company's voice chat or running those dungeons when asked. By being friendly people will simply want to interact with you more, I've find jumping on discord has led to ramblings about roleplay and my characters and people join in and what do you know, we end up with plans for a new plot. As for recommendations, I know a few. I've always enjoyed RPing with Jackal and Hide's lot, and my crew also have friends in Ebonbrand. Then there's also mine if you like Skypirates!
  4. Hi there and welcome back! I don't know how you feel about pirates... in particular Skypirates, but they're pretty cool right? My RP-FC, the Dread Wyrms, is a medium sized FC with roughly 30 active RP members, and most of those characters are morally grey - we'll do what needs to be done to get money but we're not monsters! (...well I can't speak for everyone, but most of us aren't!) Also, the FC hosts weekly RP events that range from intense combat scenes to simple tavern nights, so there's plenty going on. If you'd like more info, please visit our site or look here! Feel free to PM me with any questions you have, but if that doesn't suit your fancy, there are plenty of good quality FCs I've had the pleasure of RPing with so I'm sure you'll find something soon! Good luck in your search.
  5. Also second this recommendation! I'll give Abrenard a poke to look at this thread. His pirate crew are also pretty awesome and would love to RP with you, just FYI.
  6. Tired of your boring day job, cutting wood or mining all day, doing some retainer errands when you should really be doing something much more exciting? Much more dangerous? Much more… illegal? Er, scratch that last part. If the answer to that is yes, how do you feel about airships? Oh, okay… and pirates? Good. The Dread Wyrms - the notoriously bad* Skypirate Crew (or completely ordinary airship maintenance company, depending on who you are) are looking for new members! A rank 8 FC with a glorious mansion in the Goblet and all the whistles and doodads that come with it, we’re a medium to heavy RP FC with a love for being scrublords PvE and crying at failed hasty touches crafting and many other things! *We’re pretty terrible pirates, just FYI. We host weekly RP events, from simple tavern nights to extremely fun combat events that use our very own combat system, created just for us by one of our beloved members. The Dread Wyrms are always up for some RP shenanigans and are never too far away if you want to have your character sit down and chat or go on a little adventure, IC or OOC! We’re looking for engineers and that sweet Roe muscle in particular but we’ll welcome just about anyone! Just no voidsentdragon babies, please. If you are interested in joining and want to ask a few questions, please feel free to comment on this thread, PM me or send me a /tell on Raih Unaze or Oyuu Dataq. Or head over to our website, we have a bunch of stuff over there including our application form. More info on what we get up to here! Thanks for reading!
  7. Last couple of weeks to try and get some drugs off Haydn'to! The drugs are good shit, made by a completely trustworthy and not at all dodgy doctor. Help him pay off his debt.
  8. We roll for initiative at the start of the fight, so players take it in turns to perform their actions. Of course, you can choose not to act if you want to- and some actions and abilities require you to skip turns or use the turn to make a movement, etc. But yeah! It's an RP tool, so if your character chooses to pass this turn because they were hurt or distracted by something then by all means.
  9. As long as you're making the combat sheet correctly, you can re-adjust and remake your character's combat sheet as you see fit. It is literally just a tool to help expand your combat RP. A lot of people don't find random rolls fun so we made this system to be really customisable and not dependent on roles. I dunno if that answers your question or not!
  10. I spent a lot of time on this, trying to figure out what would be best to handle this. Unfortunately there will always be drama and arguments on the subject of who is better than who and all that, so I thought the best way is to leave everything rather equal, no levels, nothing like that. If a person wants to play a weaker character, than can choose not to have abilities or actions in a list, choose not to use stances, choose to pick freelancer and not take all the commands/traits they are allowed. They can even nerf their stats lower if they would like. Really this is up to the players, as I cannot control what people do, only suggest what would be best. ^ Ravusa made the system to be as flexible and diverse as possible, taking into consideration our FC's unique characters and their abilities and thinking outside the box in terms of that. In our FC we have summoners, warriors, scholars, astrologians, an engineer and a bartender to name a few. Whatever your character does, you'll most likely be able to put a combat sheet together no problem. I personally use it as a tool to reflect what my character is capable of, and when I make my combat sheet I think about what my character might learn in the future, so those abilites are available to me, but I don't RP them or use them in combat until I've reached that point in the storyline.
  11. I ran an event myself that involved waves of enemies, spawning a certain number and different types of enemies depending on the turn. (There were up to 20-25 enemy NPCs on the field at one point!) It was a bit hard to manage but with the help with another player I was able to keep track of the mobs and the participants pretty well and keep the combat relatively quick. Also, I think most of our event organisers/boss creators base their enemy stats and their number of actions on how many healers there will be at the event (Combat events require sign up on our site so we can count numbers and adjust), so if there are two healers, the boss will do three actions to keep it a fair challenge etc. Some of us like being super mean and making our bosses capable of lots of devastating AoE. We've yet to wipe a party though!
  12. Our average combat event usually has around seven or eight player characters and one to two enemy NPCs. We communicate through discord (mainly to remind people of who's turn it is or to ask things like 'IS THIS MELEE RANGE?') We also have a different google document for current combat to keep track of AP and HP etc.
  13. Mad props to Rav for making this thing. It's been really awesome roleplaying with this system, as a general PC and as a event creator. The boss fights and your own character's combat details can be made to be unique to match their capabilities - no more dumbing down your character when you roll a 1. If you want to see it in action, it might be possible to attend one of our weekly events and watch, maybe even participate. -hugs Rav- He slaved away over this thing and you can tell, it's a fantastic tool! Thanks Rav!!
  14. Hey everyone, time for another update! We’ve been getting back into the swings of things after a bit of a break at the start of the new year, but now we’re swimming in new members and events. A warm welcome to our newest recruits; D’elmi, Tomorgor, T’lani, Lionett and Rika! In roleplaying news, K’hatos has stepped down as Admiral and handed over his throne to Shiori. Congratulations to Shiori for her new role! And good luck, because she’s probably going to need it with this lot. Currently, we have began starting a lot of ongoing plotlines for our FC members. From exploring the mysterious and dangerous floating islands of Azys Lla to fighting against our rival skypirate crew to necromancy and dastardly Lalafells, there's much to look forward to for our members. We're still open for recruitment, so if you have a character that might fit in with our crazy bunch of skypirates, please shoot an application to our website. If you have any questions about joining or... just about anything really, feel free to message me here on the forums or send me a /tell (I'll either be on Oyuu Dataq or Raih Unaze!) That's it for now folks, catch you all next time!
  15. What kind of FC or RP are you looking for?
  16. Sure thing! I'm on around 6pm - 12am most nights (a little later on the weekends!) I'll try to grab you if timezones permit it.
  17. *Perks up head* Did someone pirate?! Jess'a seems like a cutey! I don't suppose he would be interested in joining the Dread Wyrms? We're a skypirate FC that hosts weekly RP events that involve airship battles, treasure hunting and 'lessons' on being a pirate. The Dread Wyrms are a humorous, crazy bunch that aren't for the faint hearted or the squeamish, really. If you'd like to find out more click here or here! If that doesn't suit your fancy, there are plenty of other of pirate/thieves guild-esque FCs I've had the pleasure of RPing with so I'm sure you'll find something soon! Also, my characters Raih and Oyuu are potential contacts! Raih has been running around as a thief since her early teen years and is always looking for more friends that are in the same business. Oyuu is a Xaela that is currently bumming about in Limsa, getting up to mischief with his partner in crime. Maybe they can bump into each other? Their wikis are in my signature if you wanted to nosy at them. Good luck in your search for RP!
  18. Hey folks, hope all is well! Just an another update regarding a few small things. We recently recruited a new member, U’ami Rahz so please wish her a warm welcome! I hope you make some great friends here amongst the Dread Wyrms. This weekend we had our first free company roleplay event of the year, Dying Light! The mission was a disaster, a lot of work with nothing to show for it after being betrayed by the Lalafell that hired them. Typical. And there were zombies, so many zombies. Just want to say thank you to folks for participating in the event and making it a memorable one. I hope you all had fun, I know I did! The story will definitely continue, we need to catch that dastardly Lalafell! *shakes fist* We are still open for recruitment and eagerly awaiting any applications you may have for us. If you have a character that might suit a quirky and rather weird Skypirate crew, please PM me or send me a /tell in game on Raih Unaze or Oyuu Dataq. For more information, please visit our website! Thanks for reading, take care folks!
  19. Thanks! I've checked it out myself and looks good to me, the FC Leaders will also have a look and we'll take it from there.
  20. Main Character: Oyuu Dataq Alt Characters: A'ayzi Tia, Ume Gyoji Brief description/Link to Wiki: Oyuu's wiki and my tumblr page. In short, a grumpy lizard wizard who leads a group of arsonistic mages (a.k.a Order of Ouroboros) and does stuff sometimes. Usually online: 6pm-1am weekdays, all day weekends usually. (GMT/UK timezone) Intensity: Medium to Heavy RP, fine with pretty much anything plot-driven and relatively lore-friendly.
  21. Oh, we have plenty of neutral and evil-aligned characters and more darker themes ongoing, and we'll definitely slowly work them into our free company plotlines when its appropriate. At least in terms of finding personal darker themed RP amongst our crew, you will probably find something interesting with us! We're not exactly for the faint hearted, let's put it that way. And we actually don't use the in-game airship content for RP (we have plans to, just not yet!), and we make sure to have at least one event a week hosted in an low to mid level area for those still levelling or new to the game. If you have anymore questions, please free to PM me.
  22. You posted on my thread so I'll post on yours, heh! Firstly, welcome back to the game! And secondly, I think our characters could definitely have a connection upon reading your description of her. Angry smol kitty, check. Potential money-earning opportunities, check. Raih's an angry, taller kitty who works with a Skypirate crew that has all the contacts Euny could want, business, scholarly and of course, the less legitimate. Raih can probably get her hands on pretty much anything if she put her mind to it, so Euny would probably find her useful! I'll look for you in game and shoot you a friend request, they are more than likely to bump into each other in Ul'dah since that's Raih's place of work, too. Hope to chat with you soon~
  23. I don't know about the open sea... but the Dread Wyrms are all about exploring those open skies. Good luck in your search.
  24. Raih was casually browsing a noticeboard when she spotted something of interest. A smile tugging at the side of her mouth, she leaned forward and read it over again, "Huh... kinda sounds like S- oh. Shit," she murmurs under her breath. Swiping the flyer off of the noticeboard, she folded it up and put it away in her pocket. She looked back at the noticeboard with a slightly concerned look, before she turned on her heel and sauntered off. She would be keeping an eye out for the miqo'te mentioned, but not for the gil reward.
