1. Might get to 110 on WoW, work on FC stuff re: recruitment and plotlines. I have a few Skype RPs ongoing so at least that is one fix taken care of. I will probably draw between posts too~
2. Hello! Welcome to the RPC. I used to play on Cerberus too over a year ago before I made the move to Balmung. When I was back there, there was a light RP presence in form of a linkshell (I think it turned into an FC) but I have no idea if it is still active or not (from a quick search on lodestone and the linkshell hall here, I don't think it exists anymore!) There's still probably a few RPers on there somewhere so put up a PF and shout in a busy city and you might find some. But if you want proper consistent RP, I would recommend saving up the £££ to transfer. I never regretted my choice of doing so and the EU hours on an NA server aren't too bad, the server is that busy someone is always available to play with. There's also forum/skype RP you could do as others have recommended. Good luck and welcome!
3. Just like how people get bored of gameplay elements, people can get tired of roleplay too and the two usually go in hand for most people. Why roleplay in a game you're kinda bored of, y'know? It's healthy to take a break once in a while and most people come back with a renewed motivation to roleplay, with the help of new shiny gear and glamours provided in the new patch.
4. I'm not really preparing myself as MSQ is done and Coil is cleared and my iLvl is alright I guess. Been mostly helping mates clear Coil and just planning for future FC activities etc. It'll be the first time I'm not taking a day off for the patch, so yeah, not super hyped at all. The most I'm looking forward to is new house furnishings, MSQ and hairstyles if there's any.
5. Please RP with this cutie, they're the best.
6. In recent events, the Order of Ouroboros were investigating reports of mages acting suspiciously, rumours of them using the illegal art of the Black to summon voidsent and drain aether from Hydaelyn. The Order rushed to put a stop to this, ready to teach the possibly misguided mages or at worst, put them down. Recruiting Ruran Vas into their ranks and gaining the help of two Malqir Xaela, the group was able to track them down and solve the issue rather successfully and with little bloodshed, surprisingly! It really added to the story establishment and you two were just great sports. We love collaborating with fellow RP-FCs, so if you would like to organise a plot/event together, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Recruitment is still open for those interested in the linkshell and FC! Drop me a message here and the forums or in game at Oyuu Dataq and I will get back to you. For now, ta-ra!
7. The Order of Ouroboros have recently been investigating an incident that involved the possiblity of ~black mages~ of getting up to no good, summoning voidsent with their reckless magic. Of course the Order went to put a stop to this and on the way, they bumped into Ruran Vas and the Malqir tribe who offered a helping hand. Together they solved the problem by taking in the misguided student mages in attempt to rehabilitate them. It really added to the story establishment and you two were just great sports, we loved every minute of it.
8. If you got a lot of time on your hands, you'll be able to raid and RP just fine. It depends on your RP style of course, I mean, I could probably manage a sorta midcore group right now if I really put my mind to it (only cockblocked by EU timezones, really and the fact I can't be bothered to raid). I would recommend going for a raid-focused FC rather than a RP-FC, especially if you're aiming for mid/hardcore content. From my experience of trying to form a progressive group within a RP-FC, it is very, very hard considering most of the players there aren't ready to commit to the intensity of raid even if it's just a few hours a week. They are there for RP first and foremost, so you can't blame them really. For your FC, it's probably best to head to party finder, state the times and dates you intend to raid, what content to tackle and the jobs you require. You will filter out the serious raiders from the 'Oh, I guess I could help. Double white mage is fine, right?' people. In my opinion, it's easier to find a decent RP group than a raid group that meets your requirements and if that's important to you, please use resources like the recruitment reddit and party finder etc. There's a big saturation of RPers on Balmung, whereas raiding requires finding people with a similar mentality to content and a good time schedule and speaking as a former raid leader, that process can be very difficult lol. Good luck!
9. Main BRD here, I'll give a brief summary of how I do things in terms of songs and all that jazz. Foe Requiem = My go to song for most fights if I have at least one caster (a healer that regularly uses Cleric Stance counts). I usually turn it on before fights or as the tank is pulling - just be careful not to accidentally pull enemies with this, it has quite the long range! Mage's Ballad = Like you have pointed out, it nerfs your damage by 10% when you perform this song. Recommended times to play: in between pulls/fights, when a healer has just been raised, during long trial/raid fights and there's a lot of healing needed. Once your healers are around 80% MP again, turn it off and go back to singing Foe if you think they won't need it in the next two minutes. Army's Paeon = Similar to Mage's Ballad, except it's for physical DPS! The only time I've been required to play it was when I was raiding and the fight had zero breaks in combat (typically around the 4-5 minute mark). It's also common to play it after a lot of AoEing. A DPS/Warrior might ask for it, but again try to play this when not in combat. If you have to sing when fighting, do it for a short while just enough to keep them going, don't let it drain all your mana. Battlevoice = Doubles your song potency. I typically use this along with the first Foe Requiem for a boss/trial fight. If the fight isn't demanding on your healers, keep using it on Foe, but you can use it for Mage's Ballad just to help with healers quickly during desperate times (think lots of raid wide damage and raising!) Swiftsong = When you're running around, gets the party to the end of the dungeon faster! Basically, if you wanna be a good support, you'll be looking at your party's MP and TP bars pretty often. You'll learn when the best time to play is so it doesn't impact your damage too badly, and you can help make the best out of your party! Hope this helps.
10. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=16271 ^ I think this is what you are looking for. They also run a tumblr as well! Drinking games have proven popular in the past, and who doesn't like pirate nights? Good luck!
11. Included my discord and tumblr details where you can add/follow me for roleplay and nice pictures of things. (I'll follow back any FFXIV tumblr blogs!)
12. Sorry for the delays on the replies, been pretty busy here with work and all. D; I'll be sure to contact you two in the near future and try and get something arranged. Also, still up to making a few more friends and possible roleplay connections, hit me up here or in game if interested! ^^
13. I'd agree with this, even on Balmung there are quite a few people taking breaks because of the patch lull, people going back to school (in the US, I think?) and the fact WoW's new expansion is around the corner. But if you build it, they will come and all that jazz. Good luck!
14. Yo! The Order of Ouroboros has been up to its usual antics, doing... magical shizzle whizzle to put it simply. The most recent event involved the crew heading to Coerthas Central Highlands to collect water. It might not sound the most exciting, but for one of our members' studies it is crucial and we offered to help. Splitting off into pairs, we trekked around the Coerthas wilds and searched for water. http://i.imgur.com/vgcZyeL.jpg[/img] http://i.imgur.com/DigZo4t.jpg[/img] http://i.imgur.com/KN9nnPk.jpg[/img] http://i.imgur.com/xW1Vp60.jpg[/img] http://i.imgur.com/o4CfMBb.jpg[/img] Turns out, collecting running water in a frozen place is quite difficult, but we managed to collect six samples for our friend. Mission successful, we went back to our home in the Goblet to have a drink and heal our frostbitten toes. Want to help us collect water? And maybe collect much more exciting things? Head over to our website, where you can drop us an application and check for events and updates in the linkshell/free company! Until next time~
15. Hi folks! Time for an update. One of our most recent events involved banishing a voidsent familiar that had taken to following on of the Order's founders around. Disturbed by its desire for violence and it's face-eating capabilities, Sahael came up with a plan to be rid of the creature. They all met in Eastern Thanalan, where a ritual had been prepared. http://i.imgur.com/0ElcrRw.jpg[/img] The creature would eerily appear whenever it was mentioned... http://i.imgur.com/q0e4pUN.jpg[/img] http://i.imgur.com/9dWwJwG.jpg[/img] http://i.imgur.com/VocCGwk.jpg[/img] The mission was... arguably a success. It seemed all the group did was anger the beast, but eventually, they managed to send it back to wherever it came from. A rather exhausting trip, the group headed back to have a well-earned drink. http://i.imgur.com/vMvCrY0.jpg[/img] Interested in being a part of the Order and banishing some weird void creatures? We're currently recruiting! Drop an application over to our website, where we keep you up to date with our events and goings-on.
16. Everyone should RP with Eto, she's a cutie~ uwu
17. An update~ We have a few exciting events lined up for the next couple weeks (involving Black Mages and a spell gone wrong!) and we've taken on a bunch of new fantastic, beautiful and amazing members for the Order of Ouroboros. We're still recruiting, so if you are in search for a Free Company or Linkshell that roleplays actively, hosting events and meetups every week, we might be what you're looking for. Send me a PM or post here if you got any questions, cheers!
18. My OOC Tumblr: oyuudatass.tumblr.com Relatively SFW, just generic FFXIV stuff. Fanart, screenshots, writing/aesthetic inspiration etc.
19. When name-changing a character, I usually put a note in my search info just to let people know who my character used to be. Good luck with your new character, may your roleplay be fun and fulfilling!
20. 1. Large Woven Rug 2. Moon-fire Set (Male!) 3. Bluebird 4. Tonberry Minion ^^
21. Well, I usually don't have a 'plan' for my character since it usually leads to disappointment for me. Characters I made where I envisioned them being a something or another after a few months, or where I established they would be in a relationship and married by a certain point grew quickly stale because it was predictable or... I got frustrated when it didn't go to plan. I could never win, lol. Now, I just start with a solid backstory and rough personality and let things fall into place through roleplay. Oyuu is my main character that I've had for over a year now, and another character for over two years, but I have many alts too and I hop on those when I need a break from Oyuu. Doing a short Skype RP with a different character usually gives me enough time to get motivated to play him again, and the fact I have a really awesome roleplay partner, friends, and FC where I feel there's plenty for Oyuu to do and many ways for him to grow. To avoid making a mistake, look at your resources around you. Are you satisfied with your roleplay connections? Maybe a new FC or LS would help. Are you actually getting the type of RP you like? What can you do to get it? If you decide to change your character, do not kill them off if you are unsure. Retconning is a bitch if you want to bring them back. Have them go off on an adventure, or go visit their parents etc. or maybe put them on an alt whilst you try another character out. Anyways, that's my two cents, good luck with your roleplay!
22. Hi there, I went through the "trouble" of reading Leon's wiki anyway and he seems like a pretty cool dude! I think he would possibly be a great fit for the LS/FC I run, Order of Ouroboros. We're a secret mage society focused on helping characters learn the arcane arts and help protect Eorzea from strange magic happenings. I'll shoot you a PM with a little more info, but if it doesn't suit your fancy, I'd be happy to offer RP on my two main characters, Oyuu or Rhen! Take care and good luck with the RP search~
23. Hi there! Welcome to the RPC. Eto looks cute and perhaps she can find a mentor and companionship through the linkshell/FC I help run, Order of Ouroboros. We're a secret mage society that offer guidance to promising mages whilst protecting Eorzea from aetherial disturbances. We run weekly RP events and have a various of mages, and Au Ra, that Eto could meet! If that doesn't interest you, my main character Oyuu is a Xaela mage and could possibly provide a mentor role for Eto, and I'd be happy to RP with you. Good luck with your search, happy RP hunting!
