1. Bumping, the main post has been updated! We're now an FC as well as a linkshell, so those who don't have a home to call their own can join us if they so wish, whilst characters that are settled in another company can remain there and simply join in activities via the linkshell. We managed to snag ourselves a medium plot in the great housing rush of Balmung 2k16 (which your character can't really visit unless they're a member but you are more than welcome to snoop around OOC) is at the Goblet Ward 10, Plot 12. We currently have several plotlines underway, one that involves stealing a rather dangerous and heavily protected artifact from an irresponsible owner and going on a few expeditions in search for rare potion ingredients. Nothing can go wrong, eh? Get involved by getting in touch, either through the forums or website. We look forward to hearing from you!
2. Hi folks! Now that our FC house is decorated, we can finally crack down and get to some good ol' roleplay. We have a few plotlines on the go, so if you're interested in getting involved, feel free to contact me or visit our website! http://i.imgur.com/6kjjr0e.jpg[/img] http://i.imgur.com/l4KTvqn.jpg[/img] As you can see, we're all very busy discussing things... mage things. It's all very interesting, I assure you. Definitely not about whether a bear or a shark would win in a fight.
3. Theme: Magic Research and Development, School/Library, Treasure Hunters FC/LS Name: Order of Ouroboros Contacts: Oyuu Dataq, Sahael Nevara and J'takra Tia. Website: orderofouroboros.enjin.com
4. I know of a tactic; relinquish the land, then have an FC leader/trusted member buy it as a personal plot just in case they are unsuccessful catching a larger one on the day. It costs a bit more gil, but definitely gets rid of the chance of becoming homeless altogether.
5. Thanks for your reply and interest! I'll send you a PM to tell you more. ^^
6. Hey guys. Thanks for the interest! I'll send you a PM in a shortwhile to discuss IC introductions and joining the linkshell. Feel free to ask me any questions. ^^
7. A bump for the weekend, woo! We'll be starting on our frst couple of plots in the next day or two so come be a part of it!
8. Hello fellow EU player! Welcome to Balmung. For resources on how to get started in the game, at least roleplaying wise, I suggest looking at this link here. It gives a rundown on roleplaying in FFXIV and where to get started, and you will find a lot of useful resources like this on the RPC forums. It's where I started when I was learning about the game's lore before I made my character. ^^ As for EU free companies and linkshells, I recommend checking out the linkshell hall. There's plenty of EU roleplayers on the server, and a range of EU only free companies to NA that are active during EU evening hours usually. I'm sure you'll find something, especially once you start roleplaying and have an idea what you want for your character which make the search a little easier. Have fun and hope to catch you around!
9. I've had a good read of your wiki and Abodo doesn't seem that crazy, heh. Thanks for the interest in the linkshell! You're welcome to come and go at your own leisure, the linkshell is simply a resource for roleplay to do with magic. We want to create a place where you can jump in and out of plots and have your characters meet and befriend like-minded wielders of magic. Once things calm down for you and Abodo is found, we'd love to have an IC meeting to get him introduced to the Order. ^^ Thanks again!
10. http://i.imgur.com/bXN7XDG.png[/img] The Order of Ouroboros is a dualistic free company/linkshell made by mages, for mages. Initially founded after the War of the Magi, the OoO was recently recreated to promote the responsible use of magic, as well as secure any dangerous artifacts/haunted gemstones/people. Members of Ouroboros can be anyone, anywhere, who is able to assist with their mission statement. The Linkshell is purely IC, and functions like a secret society. Ouroboros is now a Free Company, with a medium plot in the Goblet (Ward 10, Plot 12) that acts as their secret base of operations. Please note that Ouroboros likes to adhere to the game's lore as much as possible, we roleplay on a medium to heavy basis and would like to create an active, synergised friendly group of roleplayers. If you have a character who would like to help staunch the forces of magical destructitude, or are an aspiring mage looking to cultivate their talents, then drop us a line. Us being: Sahael Nevara, J’takra Tia, Oyuu Dataq and Arthurioux Duchamps We are accepting both FC and Linkshell members*, so don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you are interested. Catering to both EU and NA players, we aim to provide an active roleplay group that gives engaging and fulfilling stories, character development and just jolly good fun. *It is not required you join the FC, just the linkshell. For additional information regarding the group’s lore and other things, click THIS LINK and visit our website. Thanks for reading and if you have any questions, feel free to post here on this thread.
11. I. Basic Info Characters: Oyuu Dataq, A'ayzi Tia, Ume Gyoji, Riki Kaneuchi, Natsuko Oshidari, Zehr'a Relanah Primary character: Oyuu Dataq is my main character. Linkshells: Order of Ouroboros, Europa, Matron's Reach Primary RP linkshell: Order of Ouroboros II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I would say medium, I fluctuate from being really intense with roleplay and wanting to do it everyday to slowing down and focusing on levelling or PvE instead. I would drop what I'm doing for roleplay usually, as that is my priority overall. I adapt easily to other's roleplay styles, from quick dialogue to detailed paragraphs. In game roleplay, I prefer shorter, quicker posts. But in Discord RP, I'm usually a little slower to reply, responding in lengthy paragraphs depending on the scene. Views on RP combat and injuries: I have quite a bit of experience when it comes to combat roleplay, and I've used several combat systems from rolling /random to very detailed character sheets. As long as it's engaging and doesn't drag on for too long, I'm always up for a good fight! I'm fine with my character getting injured so long as it's called for, but for bigger injuries like... an arm being chopped off, that will need some discussion beforehand. I also don't have any intention of killing off my characters, so please don't try to, cheers! Views on IC romance: Most of my characters are in a relationship, some more serious than others so I'm not exactly looking for this roleplay outside of my established roleplay partners? I'm more of an 'if it happens, it happens' sort of roleplayer, and if our characters have good chemistry and it just naturally flows into that kinda thing, I'm all for it. I'm not into making my characters smooch someone else's because they simply look cute together, there has to be a substance and it cannot be rushed. With romantic interactions, I only pursue this with roleplayers I trust to keep a clear line between OOC and IC. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Always open to this platonic roleplay. Whether your character is a new friend, an employer, old rival or family member, I'm usually game to discuss these ideas and work on our characters' story together. If you're interested in roleplaying with my characters, just shoot me a /tell or PM! Views on lore: FFXIV's lore has always fascinated me and I love reading and learning about it. I like to abide by it when possible, but I'm more than willing to improvise or be a bit creative when it's called for, especially things that are not clarified in-game or are well written. Straight up lore-breaking or bending the lore a bit too much is a big no-no for me and not something I wish to partake in. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): When I'm IC, I will use /say, /emote, /yell and sometimes /tell when whispering something to another. It's usually easy to tell if I'm OOC because I'll be jumping around as a BRD in full PvE gear. When I'm IC, I will use the RP tag. III. Other Info Country: United Kingdom Timezone: GMT/BST Contact info: I'm available usually between 6PM and 1AM GMT in game, and on most weekends. Please PM me on the RPC forums or send a /tell in game if you wish to contact me, I'm online most evenings. Also feel free to add me on discord, I will happily chat there OOC or roleplay there. 12. Oyuu Dataq reporting for duty. o7
13. I've seen groups come and go on the EU servers, there was one on Cerberus that I dabbled in before I decided to transfer to Balmung. Just the amount of serious roleplayers here convinced me to pay the £12+ to do so. There's also plenty of EU players already here and NA players that are early risers. Have a look at the Linkshell hall though and see who's knocking about on what server. These groups will be small and therefore not have a lot of variety that is offered on Balmung, but at least you can play the game with others in the same timezone. As someome who's roleplayed on an EU server and Balmung, I'll always pick Balmung.
14. Order of Ouroboros now have a new meeting place. Using their enchanted items, members of the Order will be granted access to our leader's home. Located in the Goblet, Ward 10, Plot 12, the house is filled with delights for mages. Places to quietly read and research and meet fellow-minded casters. We're not open to the public in character, but feel free to have a quick OOC snoop around if you're in the area! 15. http://i.imgur.com/FpUnxfN.png[/img] The Order of Ouroboros began as a secret society of mages. Forced at first to operate underground by the social climate, their meetings took place beneath the cloak of night, behind locked doors. As generations passed, and memory of the Great Flood faded, the Order became bolder, but never stepped fully from the shadows. They exist today as a whisper uttered only under moonlight. Their hand is invisible, but ever-present. Wherever magic is abused, or promising mages require guidance, the agents of Ouroboros travel. And in this age of Primals and war, their presence is needed. Modern Incarnation Today the Ouroboros exist as a secret society. Each of its members carries an enchanted item, of which no two are alike. These magical trinkets function like linkpearls, allowing the owner to communicate with the greater network of associates. With the use of primal and other esoteric magicks, becoming more widespread in recent times, the purview of Ouroboros has expanded beyond simply safeguarding magic. They now hunt and destroy unstable elements, investigate mysterious happenings of a magical nature, and secure assets that might serve to facilitate the group’s goals. The Aims of Ouroboros Hunt and destroy/secure unstable elements, i.e. forbidden magic not safe in anyone’s hands etc. Handle disturbances or instances of strange magical happenings i.e. voidsent, taint, trouble using magicks etc. Aid and nurture mages’ growth, to become responsible but ambitious and driven in their studies of the arcane arts Protect old and discover new knowledge regarding the magicks and disciplines of magic, uncovering hidden history and experimenting with new styles and arcane arts Provide a network for mages across Eorzea in the form of the secret society to communicate and connect Interested in Joining? We are currently closed for recruitment, but usually submitting an application on our website to start the process of joining us! Please check in with us to see when we are open again.
16. EU RPer reporting! o7 I wouldn't say I'm 'super' heavy, currently working on my relic grind, but I'll put that off if there's some roleplay on offer! I have two characters I mainly RP with at the moment, Oyuu Dataq, a grumpy lizard wizard and Raih Unaze, an angry, stabby cat. Both have previously been in the employ of a bunch of Skypirates, but they differ slightly in their interests. Oyuu is fascinated by magic and aether - often described as a bookworm/nerd in general, whilst Raih is quite outgoing, quick to jump into a fight and have a beer. Shoot me a /tell on one of these characters if you want to RP! Like Suen, I don't know about a super long-lasting plot, it all depends on how our characters get on, but I'd be happy to roleplay with you in the evenings! Feel free to PM me about possible plots or prompts for our characters to meet.
17. Thanks so much to everyone who posted! This is exactly what I was looking for in terms of information and examples of how to Scholar, heh. It is very helpful, not only to me but those who happen to stumble across this thread will greatly benefit as well. I'd love to see a few more examples of people roleplaying a Scholar, just so I can get a grasp on other's experiences with it. If you know someone who does a good job roleplaying the job or your character is a Scholar, feel free to post and tell me about it. Also, any additional lore tidbits or facts would be handy. I'm trying to learn as much as possible about how the job works and the history behind it (although I think most of it has been covered!), so if there's something not mentioned that I should look up, please let me know. I'll go back and read through the 50-60 job quest text too, since spoilers. Thanks again!
18. *sweats* H-he did no such thing... He did, oh boy did he mess up. But, he's learned his lesson, he wouldn't harm a hair on Arthur's pretty head. :3 *gets dragged off to do an expert*
19. Hi there! Glad to hear you're doing better and I hope this thread rekindles some RP for you. Arthur's skills could prove very useful to my character, Oyuu Dataq. He has been looking for a mentor of sorts in healing magic and just a fellow mage in general that he can bounce ideas off of and become friendly with. He's very studious and needs someome he can rany about magic to, really. I have a wiki link in my sig. I'm also working on a super secret project currently that might suit your character well, which I'll PM you about at a later date. ;3
20. Hi folks, I've been brushing up on my lore for a future project, mostly around the Disciplines of Magic and so on. There's a lot of good discussions out there, but regarding Scholars, I found myself only finding talks on whether or not one should roleplay as one and things focused more around the use of soulstones. If I've simply missed a glaringly obvious "HOW TO SCHOLAR" post, please feel free to link me it and I'll go read it in my bad google skills shame. So, I'd like to know about: 1) How does one become a Scholar? I'm guessing soulstones and/or mentors are a valid method, although rare. From strictly lore-abiding to bending/getting a little creative, how have you seen characters play this role? Also, when learning to be a scholar, would an Arcanist need to not only how to cast the spell but would they need the geometric symbols/have a specific grimoire to be able to say... perform adloquium? Try to keep this question focused on actual lore, rather than "I don't RP with people who use soulstones blah blah". 2) Fairies. What and who are they? I understand they are particularly hard to find, but is it the case of just stumbling across one in the wild or is a soulstone necessary? 3) Nym. I'm terrible at reading story quest text, the old raider in me makes me accidentally skip it when I'm not paying attention, so a quick brief on what happened with the Nymians and all that jazz would be great. Just basic detail is fine, a timeline would be great. Thanks in advance!
21. Oyuu and his partner in crime, J'takra, would love to help with this! Get in touch if you got space for two more.
22. I have two characters suited for this, Raih Unaze and Oyuu Dataq. Both have a history of crime and being a butthead, so feel free to friend me for RP sometime!
23. I'll throw one of my characters your way, I love assholes. I mean... roleplaying with them. That's what I meant.
24. Hi Mina~ I checked out your character's wiki and I have to agree they have similar interests indeed! I'll send you a friend request in game and we'll go from there. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll also pop you a friend request in game and I'll check out the tavern soon. ^^ Oh, I'm still looking alright~ And she did indeed commit a lot of crimes in the Shroud! If you wanna send me a PM on the forums to talk about how they would know each other, feel free! I'll try to add you to my friend's list in game in the meantime. :>
25. Gonna blow the dust off of this as I'm back to looking for new RP connections for Raih! I also have two other characters I'm currently actively RPing, Oyuu Dataq and Doyi Mol, so if Raih might not be your cup of tea I have a few different options. Feel free to PM me or comment on this thread and I'll try my best to get back to you to set something up.
