Alka Zolka is a scholar but not a SCH. He can read the writings, but he cannot wield the magic.

And then you're left to wonder how a BLM soul crystal can even hold any kind of black magic knowledge. I mean, in order for the empty crystal to be filled with knowledge, you need to perform the art. In order to perform the art, you need a soul crystal filled with knowledge. That doesn't quite work out. Well, it is in part to do with changing of times. At one point there may have been very powerful wizards who could wield the magic unopposed. And then the Elementals were like, fuck that shit. Die. What do the Elementals even have to do with Black Magic? That's White Magic. There was a war involving both that the Elementals put an end to. Likely both castes lost powerful mages.

Yeah, I covered that under "No one is left to teach how to be a Sch or SMN". Of course you'd still be using a carby, there's no one except the crystal's centuryies of knowledge left to show you how to do any of this. Can't produce an entire magical discipline out of thin air, especially one that literally went extinct. In their TIME though, in Nym and Allag, where these disciplines originated? I doubt you needed it, teachers existed, though I bet they were still -extremely helpful-. TBH, Allag was pretty damn cool. Nym was ok. But Allag! Look at all the cool shit they did. Even their demise was cool.

And Black Magic which uses your own body's aether reserves will kill you. And Scholars need one to even comprehend Nymeian magic. And Summoners need one to comprehend Allagan magic. And Bards need one to figure out how to sing aether into battle. You get the singing part down, and the arrow part down, but what you don't know how to do is magically make all the panties drop with a single note. That is what the soul crystal teaches you. It doesn't seem like something someone else could just teach you- you gotta prove you're worthy and then the crystal helps you feel the groove. It basically teaches you how to DRR on extreme mode. Out of those only BLM requires a soulstone since it's said, explicitly, not using a BLM soulstone while using BLM sets -you on fire and kills you-. (I have no idea about BRD) Scholar/Summoners need them because there's no one left alive to teach those particular schools of magic use. Scholars were rare, even in Nymian ages, and Allag summoners...well. We all know what happened to Allag civilization if you've run the Crystal Tower. So you CAN say you need them For SMN/SCH magic since they're the only source of getting the knowledge but, originally, these schools probably didn't need (But probably used) crystals. They don't unlock anything. They Scholar quest you "find" a fairy, and the SMN job quests are you fucking around with primals to get access to the power. Nothing soulstone unlocked there, other than the methodology to do the things. The claim still stands that you would still be reliant on carbuncles without the soul crystals. If not to access magic, soul crystals are a rite of passage. The symbol of what makes you who you are. If there is only one warrior stone, it has passed through the hands of your warrior by tradition, perhaps even only for a moment. A Monk with no soul crystal is like a karate expert with no belt. It's like showing up for a military event without all of your ribbons.

My worry about Fabric arcanima is that frabric moves and stretches while paper does not. What happens if an angle is suppose to be a 45 degree angle but slight motion causes the fibers to pulls and shift it to a 46 degree angle? The spell could easily go wrong.

I beg to differ: http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Pride_and_Duty_(Will_Take_You_from_the_Mountain) "Duly impressed by your strength, Curious Gorge presents you with the Soul of the Warrior. When your inner beast awakens, he explains, the runes will resonate, granting you such strength as you never thought possible." This explicitly states that the Warrior soul crystal augments your abilities. Of course, you must be a skilled fighter to even access your inner beast to trigger the runes in the first place, but yeah.

Considering most of them contain lost knowledge, his efforts are probably futile. Imagine trying to be a Black Mage without it. Or a Scholar.

Vyce, you should really, really learn to dig into lore before posting. Pugilists don't use soulstones, Monks do, however it doesn't suddenly unlocked your super saiyan aether wielding by touching a magical stone. Monk 30 quest screenshots PS for some reason I managed to screen him only with his eyes closed lol He looks so weeb with closed eyes.

How do you guys go about pulling off your "twists"

I just drop it like a bomb if its plot, and foreshadow in combat. -
Just an FYI, if you don't RP possessing a Soulstone, you cannot RP classification of a Job. Jobs require Soulstones. You can RP a class, but not a job. You can be a Conjurer but not a White Mage (which is unlikely anyway). You can be a Marauder but not a Warrior. You can be an Archer but not a Bard. A Bard without a Soulstone is just an archer than plays a lute and sings. There is little to no power behind that music. It is the Soulstone that allows you to channel aether in that manner. It is a Soulstone that allows an Ul'Dahan Pugilist to access the ability to channel aether the way a Monk does. Now, this does not mean you have to RP a job. Most RPers other than Machinists, Astrologians, and Dark Knights seems to RP more as the class than the Job because you have a lot more freedom RPing the Class than you do as a highly specialized and specific Job. Astro, Mach, and Dark are classless jobs and are an acception, as the path from class to job is long and arduous. What you do have to do is acknowledge that Jobholders are Soulstone holders. You cannot deny the existence of things that are inconvenient to the way you want your character. Teleporting exists- it is a long, expensive process and most people would either prefer to walk, don't trust it, or just plain can't. Moogles exist- and you are kupo no matter what. Deal with it. *sunglasses*. Dark Knights are powered by emotion. They are essentially Raven from Teen Titans and that's that. Miqo'te have harems. Ishgardians are uppity. Female Roe have big boobs. The Sultana is kawaii as fuck. Deal with it.

Theres three more important ones I forgot. Fem: Called "Fishy" in drag/ballroom scenes. This is a man who acts and/or sounds effeminate. Think the esthetician. Masc: Deep voice, traditionally male features. Probably pretends not to like Beyonce. Gay Ala Mighans. A subset is Butch Queen, who has the look but runs in the club scene and likes vodka and divas. Trade: Trade is a commercially attractive man who is either in the closet or is unintelligible from straight men. Probably even likes to go hunting. The difference between Masc and Trade is that Trade is effortlessly masculine and extremely attractive always. Ser Aymeric would be trade. Edit: It is easy to say, "Just dont live by labels. Just ignore it." But that is far easier said than done. I thought of a way to explain this last night: Imagine you are walking along, minding your own business, when someone shouts, "I LOST THE GAME!". Now, nobody plays that anymore. Nobody wants to care. But while you can say out loud that you do not play the game, there is still that little subtext in your head that acknowledges you too have lost the game. You can't not play- you play by knowing the rules. It is permanently carved into your subconscious. So while I can say I do not subscribe to these labels, it remains a fact that I know the rules of each label and therefor know where I stand in comparison to others.

You hit the nail on the head; Lia. It is socially acceptable in the gay community to group others based on physical features. Here is the basic breakdown: Twinks: The young cuties. Usually 16-25 before your more masculine adult features fill in. Men of certain genetics can be twinks all the way into their thirties. Twinks are expected to be virtually hairless, lean, and easy. They often wear skinny jeans. Bears: Big hairy guys. You classify as a bear around age 30 with some extra weight. Subgrouos are Otters/skinny hairy guys, Cubs/big hairy young guys, Pandas/asian bears. Daddies: Over 40 and interested in Twinks. Expected to be financially supportive andexperienced. Twunks: These are your young guys who play sports and have killer bodies. They are expected to make money, do porn/model, become bartenders, and get invited to places as eye candy. They are valued as decoration. Mom: This is your older gay man who babies everyone and is available for advice, but is expected to die alone. Age 60 is considered gay death. 50 if your genese arent great. Basically, whether you like it or not, you are classified.

Kindof. Here is a more "normal" standard of beauty circa 2015: But the bar is further raised when every piece of advertising geared toward you is meant to be superlative. Think of it like how Victoria's Secret advertises, except it's EVERYTHING.

Before I killed off Vyce, I was totally RPing a scholar/arcanist. ICly, Solmund is a Gladiator by class (before he came into fortune) but since I love the arcanist class so much, I gave him a couple easy spells he can use occasionally. Nothing super significant- sword and shield is still his comfort, with his fists coming second. So, I RP GLD/PLD + PUG but play SCH

Also, I hate the following stereotypes: The weird, over the top "spechul snowflake" The drama queen The housewife And possibly the most damaging one: The circuit queen Physical appearance and sexual performance define you. Your value is based on how you look and what you wear. You are afforded special privileges for your appearance but for only as long as they last. You are expected to balance the physical expectations commonly held over women's heads with the social expectations held over men's heads. Be beautiful AND sexual. Even your income is based on how well you handle what society expects of you, and the better you look, the more likely others are to accept your differences. I won't pretend that I'm not guilty of it. It's a double standard, really. I hate that I'm expected to be a certain way, but I look down on those that don't or don't care enough to try. It's been sewn into me from day 1. Honestly I'd like to see gay culture represent itself more realistically, but there's no reward for average in the media. tl;dr its too much work being pretty

Real classy there Vyce. But you have to agree the most fanciful occurrence is when you poop and the toilet paper comes back clean.

I'm not sure that's a good idea. The dangers of excess metal in the blood stream is too real. What I have done is had my character keep pot of expensive ink concealed on his person. When all else fails, he can draw with his finger for a crude spell. He has also scratched an arcanima into sand for an incredibly weak spell under the assumption that sand has trace metallic properties.

Tell us the story of how you and your hubby met!

We're not talking about them. We're talking about people who buy up land for the purpose of re-selling it at ridiculous markups. This isn't ArcheAge, it isn't meant to be a cutthroat dog-eat-dog game world. The issue of in-game realtors needs to be addressed because it's not something that was ever intended to be a mechanic. It's a loophole, and a shitty one, and needs to not be a thing. According to our newly uncovered information, we can technically file tickets on the realtors and have them dealt with as long as we did not actually exchange gil.

It's not flawed because it's not an applicable comparison. There are mechanical differences between rooms and houses, such as the inability to garden, or train chocobos. The two are not, and will not be on equal enough footing for a comparison, until they are functionally identical. But it is. Why would one person have a claim on one house, why he or she could not be giving it to a FC and allow more people to use these features as well? They can do very much the same with their FC garden, stables ect as well without being the leader. It is by your logic still ONE person owning it, seeming it does not seem to matter if a person owns a FC already or not. So why only FC leaders should suffer from being targeted? Personal housing is flawed in general; people with lots of gil will own houses, who don't have it won't, simple as that. That is what SE needs to address, not the few odd exceptions who happen to have both. Except nobody is victimizing FC leaders. It is YOUR house. Having a house is optional. It is YOUR FC. Having a FC is optional. Having a FC and a house means other people can use the house that you OPTIONALLY opted for. You can furnish it and use it the way you like, but other people can use and live in it too. They can restrict their customization to their private quarters, and everybody wins.

I ICly acknowledge how bad the market is in Mist, and ICly have my ICly wealthy character living in an apartment in a manse because it's more economical than spending 25mil for a tiny house. He ICly is waiting for a foreclosure to get a house cheap, unless the system is changed or new houses are added, he will likely never buy one. And even if house WERE added, we all know certain scum will try to buy as many of them as possible and claim all of the land in a matter of seconds.

I hate: People who are in front of me and walk at a slower pace than my default pace. People who stand on the wrong side of the escalator. When you have to wipe like 20 times after a poop. People who complain in restaurants. That "can I speak to a manager" hair. Media standards of how gay men should be represented i.e. Martha Stewart, or perfect model with perfect body. This is too much pressure and I don't like having to live up to it every day. Tumblr Feminist Extremism "I'm a Wiccan" Spiders.

Why don't you just live in the FC house like most other people? Why do you need an entire other house for your character to live in when your FC house has rooms available and as the leader you have all the control? Seems pretty greedy. It's better to think of others. TBH, I'm of the opinion that housing should only belong to FCs anyway, because it's more beneficial to share than to hog an entire structure that could house 20 people all to yourself.
