  1. [video=youtube] KILLER THE THE THE THE MIND DOO DEE DOO DOO DOO DOO
  2. While surely fine in a narrative written by a single person, I honestly don't see the appeal of an FC where the leader is considered THE hero and has various plot protections. Problems with leaders trying to steal the spotlight are prevalent in far too many FCs and are just about always frowned upon.
  3. I'll take an invite, IGN Gwannes Oskwell.
  4. As far as lore goes, all the dancers I've seen seem to be prostitutes as well. The prostitute you guide for the Costa FATE is wearing the same outfit as the dancers at Hidden Falls, and I can vaguely remember flavor text about the dancers you see at the Ruby Road Exchange also being prostitutes, so it seems dancing and prostitution go hand-in-hand, at least. If they're not a prostitute but dance for a living, I figure they'd just be a dancer. Or "Courtesan" if you wanna sound a bit cooler about it.
  5. I really have trouble buying that she's part-deer unless she has a deer head instead of a person's head.
  6. YOU KNOW WHAT? FUCK THIS WAR, I JUST WANT YOU DEAD. [video=youtube]
  7. I've been a member of forums that have used subforums at the very least extremely similar to this one, and they tend to have a positive effect on the community. The surge that you're seeing now is just a natural result of giving a roleplay community used to doing their shittalking through half-assed snark and rampant passive-aggression a place where they can take the kid gloves off.
  8. The way of the samurai is No quotes for raw dialogue in /say "Quotes for dialogue within a custom /em" "Quotes for character quoting another character" /Slashes for emphasis/ [brackets for sign language] ~Tildes for snake language~ {Curly brackets for curly language} +Pluses for addition language+ $Dollar signs for when your character is talking money$ *Asterisks for vulgar language* @and @s for when a character is discussing their email address@
  9. I would not roleplay with somebody who emotes like this
  10. I think the real question is: can a fat cat become a vampire?
  11. That is interesting. Even then, that leaves a discrepancy between flavor text and how such an item would work according to Fern's words (not to mention the whole "novelty items" deal). Plus it discredits how about 90% of IC fantasias go down anyway, but I figure it's best to leave the discussion at that since we've now got a definitive answer, and also because we've gone so far off topic at this point that the thread is less "derailed" and more "broken through the veil of spacetime into a land where the concept of a rail never fucking existed."
  12. We've seen a single instance of a group of localization team members, none of whom are in a position of authority, give personal opinions during a private lunch conversation about one of the most mechanically dubious objects available on the cash shop. You're gonna need a bit more evidence than that to start throwing around words like "ample". I'm personally not a fan of IC Fantasia, but let's not misrepresent facts here. There's not too much mechanically dubious about it. People on the dev team charged with translating, interpreting and (quite) often changing the lore of the game are probably qualified to make a statement such as "Is this object that would break the setting of the game over its knee canon?" The lore status of Fantasia matters far less than the many, many pointless roleplayer (IE a demographic that SE pretty much is unaware of the existence of) discussions would lead you or I to believe so. You don't exactly need a live confirmation by Yoshi P himself.
  13. How is the claim that it isn't canon any more shaky than the claim that it is canon? We've seen ample evidence that flavor text can be non-canon, just as I'm sure there are examples of things such as questlines or dialogue confirming something asserted in the flavor text of an item.
  14. I honestly won't fault anybody for taking flavor text as a part of the lore, but don't get uppity and try to tell somebody that they're wrong for assuming the opposite when we've demonstrably seen that flavor text can be just that: flavor text that doesn't figure into the game's lore. Both have the same amount of ground to stand on. Calm down.
  15. How do we know that any of the text relating to vampires is actually in-lore, however? There's been item text that, at first glance seems completely real, yet the devs themselves have come out and stated its non-canon nature. That is, Fantasia. So if Fantasia and the resulting flavor text isn't canon, what exactly is stopping somebody from asserting that a similar situation couldn't be happening with flavor text of another item?
  16. I thought the point of this thread was that we can RP however we want???????
  17. I actually play a Void-touched Keeper of the Moon, and while that's a nice way to explain the character avoiding the sun, I think the bigger issue here is that the character laid out doesn't really have weaknesses. i put fire and their primary weakness. and i guess the usual decapitation and stake to the heart shouldve included that oops. didnt wanna put sunlight as a weakness since that had more to do with religious superstition since sun is holy and vamps are "unholy" along with crosses etc etc Fire's not exactly a primary weakness. Everybody's weak to fire. A vampire weak to fire and a human are the same. Fire kills both of them. Decapitation and stakes to the heart are methods of killing them, not weaknesses. Sunlight is an actual weakness, as it's something only vampires are weak to.
  18. the allagans beat gods into submission already and the elementals made the padjal so they have some ability to create a race that doesnt age and could potentially be abused and corrupted by humans. and they are tangible they help u fight a tainted sprite in a quest and the enemy spirtes are corrupted lesser elementals The allagans were an extremely advanced precursor race that managed to imprison an ancient dragon-god in an artificial moon. Johnny Edgelord and his cutter buddies with a few scepters in the basement probably won't manage the same thing.
  19. there was a vampire lord in the original final fantasy as well as the job in bravely default which acts like blue mage FF and Bravely Default are not FFXIV.
  20. Yeah, no. Auri were always there, Odin's backstory alludes to their existence. Plus you could use "it's a big world out there and we don't know" to roleplay literally anything, it's not a viable justification for playing something as out of left field as vampires let alone special aether-vampires that don't have vampire weaknesses.
  21. There's no real lore-friendly way to RP vampires because there's no such thing as vampires in XIV. I can't really see anybody forcing an elemental into submission. They're intangible, unknowable nature spirits that have complete control of the forest. How would an elemental turn somebody into a blood-sucking zombie weakened by sunlight? That doesn't really seem up their alley. This seems almost ludicrously overpowered. So then they don't even have vampire weaknesses? And how exactly would there be a public superstition anyway if vampires don't exist in the world of FFXIV? There's no superstition because they're not there.
