1. Miqo'te are everywhere on Eorzea really. The trope of Desert cats is mostly just based on one tribe we have the pleasure of meeting, and well, people wanting their exotic dancer catte waifus. You can easily be from La Noscea or Limsa if you want a more sea like feel. I'm not sure if any tribe directly comes from it though, Sounsyy can probably inform you a bit better on that. But most of the races in Eorzea are all over the place to some degree. Either way, all look fun to me. It's up to you after all what you like RPing after all Honestly, you could roll with the most basic and bare of stereotypes at the end of the day, and work it awesomely.
2. I'm going to give this another weekish before announcing next event! Once more, your help is greatly appreciated by filling out the google form!
3. I wouldn't be too afraid about not having a huge vocabulary. I don't. In English. I'm Dutch, I still manage. As long you can get your message across well, who cares? I'd sooner take a hundred of just regular folk over some irritating purple prose writer. Really, using thine, thee and fancy ye old English and bloated words doesn't make you a better roleplayer. Really, purple prose doesn't make you any better, in fact, people can rarely execute it well enough, and it only makes them look silly. So please, don't worry about it. I'd suggest just keeping an eye out for events, and just hop down there really! http://balmungrpcalendar.tumblr.com/ Is a nice resource to find them ! Or of course the event section of the RPC itself!
4. I can sum up this whole discussion with: people are still thinking they are playing World of Casualcraft.
5. This one was a dick too but a granny gave me a mason jar full of juice today irl for walking her dog so idk I'm willing to give grannies a chance they're cute sometimes No you don't want to after seeing a homewrecking grandma I wish I was kidding. That guild was special.
6. I can agree with this is if someone is causing wipe after wipe in their PUG's. Being dealt a shitty hand isn't an excuse to ruin the game time of strangers. But someone making a 30 minute dungeon take 35 instead 'cause they don't wanna stance-dance because of factors beyond their control... idk, I'm pretty chill, I don't see what the big deal is. I don't think someone should be told "go play a different game/class!" when... they can play their class just fine for the level of content they're doing, they just aren't going/can't go above and beyond with extra assistance outside of their class's main role. I used to know a 63-year-old grandmother who played a healer here. She had arthritis iirc (which is not just for "old people!") and just had slow reaction times in general due to her age. She was... not a good healer, and messed up a lot and caught flak for it. It made her nervous and she got upset, threatening to unsub and stop playing regularly whenever she got frustrated with her skill healing. Grandma healer ended up having a pretty negative attitude so she never really got her healing up to a decent skill level and I dunno what happened to her 'cause I haven't seen her around in forever, but, the moral of the story is... Healer grannies are cute. We need more of them. We should let them play healers like grannies should. Don't scare away the healer gran-grans. We need them to keep us punk kids in line and make us cookies ok thx. I dealed with a healer grandma once Never again She was the biggest ego tripping dick I've ever seen, couldn't raid for shit, thought she knew it all better due to her age No, you really don't need more healer grannies, trust me
7. I'm still going to label people to be terrible until I know why. Yeah, if people tell me "sup I got something why I can't play properly" yeah, I ain't going to go "FFS GET BETTER FIX UR SHIT", like man, I got a super shit shoulder, I can't raid due to it. Well serious raid that is. Although.... On the other hand, I'm not going to expect people to carry my sorry ass either. I'm not such a privileged fuck who expects people to just carry me. No sorry, I'd sooner sit out. I'm not going to be THAT asshat who goes "WELL ITS MY GODDAMN 13 EUROS PER MONTH FUCK YOUUUUU REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" Yeah, I struggle to raid, hell, I struggle to do shit irl due to my shoulder, but I'm sure as hell not going to make random people suffer for my incompetence. If my shoulder hurts too much? Guess what. I ain't going to do content. I will just do something else. This spoiled mentality of "Eh, I can do all the content without doing my best" is really, really pissing me off. Like I'm legit ashamed when I fuck things up massively in serious content. Perhaps it might be due to me starting to play online as a young teenager, and the whole MMO culture was very different, but every single time I see people refusing to improve because of muh anxiety? Damn, go play a singleplayer game, don't drag people down with you and abuse it as an excuse not to do shit, you entitled douchebags. Same goes for roleplay really.
8. We need your help! To make better events in the future, and prevent things from getting stale, we'd love it if you were willing to fill out this quick Google Forms. It won't take long, I promise. https://goo.gl/forms/inkoylFmItrSFM5V2 Thank you for your assistance!
9. Heya, Whereas I in no way wish to tell you what to do, or not to do, dimension hopping is only possible lorewise between the Final Fantasy universes I hate to say it, but people will probably avoid you. Balmung is far from elitists, but people do genuinely have as their only standards "be from a FF universe" for your character. Hells, I go as far you best save of just making them from the FFXIV universe, seeming people are still shifty on dimension hoppers, even from the FF series. I'd strongly suggest just looking into lore, and remake him within the boundaries of the FFXIV setting to avoid being an outcast, and having a terrible time to find roleplay. Honestly, you could come up with a super absurd, yet still lore fitting ish concept, and you will still have an easier time finding meaningful roleplay then the concept you're providing right now. Else? I'd suggest forum roleplay might be more your thing, and Hells, probably not even in FFXIV, as you seem interested in writing your own story book while shredding perhaps a few pages out of that of FFXIV's story to toss in yours. Except people to... not like this character, if you wish to continue to pursue this one. I'd really suggest remaking your character to something fitting in the FFXIV universe, and people will gladly help this, or turn to some generic forum roleplay... forum. Best of luck with your decision. If you continue with this concept, you're a braver person than I am.
10. While I'm kinda busy tonight, from tomorrow on, I'm basically free to roleplay on whatever character you'd like to toss at Avelyn. Mind you, Avelyn's terribly... Ala Mhigan! Either way characters get along perfectly with her, or they want to smack her around. Or both! In either case, if you don't mind potential headbutting happening, I'd gladly toss Ave at any of your characters sometime!
11. Thank you all for coming! It was truly amazing to see so many dropping by, joining in with speeches on the fly. Also seeing so many people engaging in something so serious as many did? That was really sweet to see as well! I really couldn't have wished for a better outcome! I will make a better post on this all later, but for now? Thank you all for coming! And as well, have some very dark screenies I took of the event. http://imgur.com/a/yOQkF
12. I wanted to post an elaborate reply But Does this really have to go on a roleplaying forum? You could have posted your whining in the bag pugs whine section. Yeah it is irritating to see people ask it of you, but more then often, people who get told to stance dance are the folk who stand there picking their noses in Tam Tara normal mode, refusing to DPS while the tank takes zero damage.
13. Really, as a healer my priority is, when it comes down to DPS... First my manabots, aka bards and mch, then the SMN (provided they appear to know what they are doing), then the good DPS, and as last, the shitty DPS who will most likely die again. Unless we need a specific LB or something, I just rest a melee quickly first. But yeah, manabots first, summoners with brains second, then going from the good to the bad dps. Might be just me, but when I see people dead in the open world, I will ress them x_X Just a bit of an old school MMO courtesy? Dunno, just feel like a dick if I leave them dead
14. It's awesome to see they included a gender option for the warrior of light imo
15. Nope, I fear there isn't anything else but Balmung if you want to find roleplay easily. In any case, good luck with your search!
16. So this is pure headcanon bullshit, so please don’t take my words for granted whatsoever. First of all, I’d imagine very depending on clan heritage which traditions would be there in place. Most traditions have watered down these days in modern days, whereas some families and clans still stick their own old customs. For the traditions it would vary per ‘dominant’ family line of their heritage, I can’t see Ala Mhigans caring much for the father or the mother’s side being more important. Yes we had mostly mentions of Kings and men in general in Ala Mhigan lore and story so far, but I’d like to remind people the Corpse Brigade, the royal guard, had a woman for a leader. Women can just be as prominent as men no doubt in Ala Mhigan society. However if you wish to roll with men’s family lines being the important one, you can totally roll with that you. We don’t have much lore onto these things to begin with, so go crazy! Anyhow they probably go for the family side they feel most connected to, if perhaps not a mix of both if both sides of the family were important to him or her. Hell, to get the grim stuff out of the way. I’d imagine the old days of the clans bride kidnapping was a thing what happened. Except that they were trying to steal warrior women (or men), who’d beat the shit out of you, and were expected to fight all the way along to being brought back home. If a woman or men didn’t even bother to put up a good fight while dragging them off their clan’s home, I’d expect interest was lost rather quickly in their potential partner, as Ala Mhigans favour strength over anything else. Why would you want to have some demure, weak wife or husband, while you can have a feisty one, bred for war like yourself? Also, to prevent inbreeding between the clans, on top of strengthening them. However I’d imagine this practice is probably not done these anymore due to the fact the Ala Mhigans, or most of them, lived united under one king, and there was no need for these practices any more. But who know some lost, hidden highlander clans still engage into it in Gyr Abania. Or perhaps a mock staged kidnapping is set up between couples and their families to keep the tradition alive. What brings me to… Why not duke it out in front of the families who gets to wear the pants in their relationship? Men and women were equally well trained in Ala Mhigo after all, given they all favoured strong folk. I’d imagine a few broken bones might be even a sign as good luck and all that. However once more, I’d imagine these fights have toned down a lot, and some clans having abolished them completely in favour for something else, or never had this as a tradition at all. Also, the side of the winning family would take a massive amount of pride in their son or daughter being the winner. Not that was much shame in losing, as long a proper battle was put on display; if the spar was just a lame affair to look at, it be shameful for the family in question. As for the more spiritual folk, like those who have shamans in their lineage? Perhaps something to appease the Twelve, or even Elementals, or ancestors, as I’ve seen various twists and turns onto Shaman roleplay so far. Perhaps the couple in question has to go through some ancient ritual, varying from prayer, to sacrifices of beats, or worse, to appease x of choice. Maybe the couple in question gets send off to hunt onto some beast to prove they can be successful together; the marriage being blown off completely if they failed at their hunt due to obviously the Twelve not wanting them to be a match. Hells, perhaps the pair has to go some quests for all we know. You can go completely crazy with these things after all. Even for the Fist of Rhalgr I can see this being a massive thing as well; you first must appease the Destroyer before you can get married. Given they state their prayers are written in blood and sweat, I’d imagine the (pre) marriage traditions used to be quite the same. Although once more, after the Ala Mhigans became more civilised, it probably watered down as well. As for wedding dresses and the like? Hells, I’d imagine Ala Mhigans rocked up in their ceremonials grabs, their armor ect. You were marrying a warrior, not some dainty person. However, perhaps they had influences from the rest of Eorzea, as wedding dresses (red ones in Ishgard in specific), were a thing. Although due to their Rhalgr praising ways, it may have been purple instead, or the colour of the God their clan prefered to worship. What brings me to: Ritualistic bodypaint. Sadly enough we don’t know what the Ala Mhigans do exactly with this due to just having a one liner of lore onto it, but I can see this being a massive roll in the whole marriage ceremony as well. For all we know different clans had different paints and markings over their body, and perhaps it varied per occasion as well. Same goes for hairdoes, trinkets and all that. Hell, Ave’s family I’d headcanoned they don’t cut their hair whatsoever, and probably have particular braids and the like for marriages ect. Rings exchanges? Probably! Although I’d imagine bride and groom would give each other a gift more suitable to be carried on the battlefield next to that. Like a weapon, armor, or perhaps some fancy talisman. Yes, I’d imagine rings to be there, but I can see a massive focus being placed upon the quality and cost of the more important object being given. The wedding guests obviously wouldn’t go gift the couple with cards and money, like folk do in real life, but instead give them practical things they could use in their profession, or at their homes. Weapons, talismen, armor, and just practical objects for the family life would be more welcomed than gil due it being more personal. As well, there is a vague hint of the Fist of Rhalgr being married into the ruling noble family of Ala Mhigo, so yes, arranged marriages were, and probably are, still a thing between Ala Mhigans. For the priests in questions holding the ceremonies? I’d before I’d imagine it were the clans shamans! Although with the rise of the Fist of Rhalgr, and their having such a huge influence on the society in religious and cultural ways, I’d imagine they took over from the shamans in modern days. Of course when the Ala Mhigans modernised, I’d imagine they had proper laws and people for it as well, but the tradition of being married before Rhalgr by a Fist, or a Shaman, probably was kept in place, next to to official papers. Well, until the Mad King happened. In any case, I'd expect once the religious nonsense ect are over it is probably a jolly good time with lots of drinks and food, and making tons of bawdy jokes about the fact the bride and groom (or whatever coupling!) will be getting it on later. In any case, you can bullshit your way into so many tribal traditions, change them to your liking ect. Basically, have fun and enjoy your marriage Kiera <3
17. I will be there with my merry Alchemist, Lyanna Farborough of Azeyma's Draughts. Hope to see you all there! http://azeyma-draughts.tumblr.com/ See Tumblr for the complete - In Character Gil Only - Pricelist!

19. Uh, it is a bit hidden from the scene. But I'd suggest checking this out to make life easier for you http://balmungrpcalendar.tumblr.com/
20. You want help like Legit help LOOMIS YO http://www.alexhays.com/loomis/Andrew%20Loomis%20-%20Fun%20WIth%20a%20Pencil.pdf http://www.scott-eaton.com/outgoing/books/George-Bridgman-Constructive-Anatomy.pdf George Bridgeman is A+ material Like, I can recommend these two folk and their books
21. To clear things up. Yes, spies are welcome! However please don't disturb the event in any shape or form. You will be going down the Lion's Den, outing yourself wouldn't be a smart idea by any means. As well, please don't come to Little Ala Mhigo, and go "DAMN RHALGR/ALA MHIGANS". Once more, you will be heading down into a place with tons of fanatics. See it as insulting Halone in the middle of the Church in 3.0's Ishgard. Except without a trial, and just a bunch of angry Ala Mhigans. Basically, behave yourself to keep things running smoothly. Discussions are totally fine though! Just remember what place you are at. Also, depending on how many people will show up, please take your 'regular' roleplay to party chat! Speakers and the like will be using yell. Thank you.
22. People change over time. Most well written characters do as well. If they don't? It is most likely a hell of a flaw the writer of said character enjoys roleplaying. Even if my characters hardly budge and get all that much character progression, I find the key not so much the character, but the people you roleplay with. An alt on the other hand might be a nice get away for you. That's what I do from time to time myself.
