  1. I guess the majority is playing overwatch
  2. Uuuuh Make sure FFXIV is installed on your SSD drive. No joking, a friend installed FFXIV today onto it, just to go past loading screens. Uuuh some people spoke about having swiftsong/monk stance on ect. Be on your ninja. IDK. People are going insane over this. Good luck though o/
  3. Or all go S:76 and spam "WE ARE ALL SOLDIERS NOW" And have the enemy team joining in. It was glorious. And once I came across someone with the same name as I. We continued rambling into All chat and piss everyone off. It was amazing.
  4. Once more, if I kicked you on accident, please shoot me a message over the RPC, ingame ect!
  5. Highlanders are all over Eorzea, so if you want her to be non-Ala Mhigan, that's totally fine. If you still want to have Ala Mhigan heritage, you could perhaps, especially with the conjurer background, make a child of refugees who landed up in the Shroud? Either way, you don't have to be Ala Mhigan or Ul'dahn to be a highlander Limsa and the Shroud got tons of Highlanders as well. Hells, going for a pirate like background might work as well! Or for her parents at least. You can really do whatever.
  6. She did say she didn't want to go for the cookie cutter backstory >_>? Or am I confused now? Besides, I think we can safely say Sidurgu was the exception, not the standard for DRKs. And Sidurgu arguable is still something doing with corrupt Ishgard nonsense.
  7. At the end of the day, you're the one who wants to RP one. The combo you want of race and job is simply neigh impossible. DRKs most likely will still have a hate against Au ra. I'm pretty sure they are probably one of the most fanatic folk when it comes down to hunting down what is 'wrong'. Au ra are wrong in the eyes in the Ishgardian. And... DRK aren't an official organisation. Whereas they can be exiled from Ishgard no doubt, their order isn't one who would do it. Nor do they knight folk. They are just the batmans of Ishgard. No one appoints them. It is a 'burden' they just pick up themselves. Really, I'd say you either just have to bite the bullet and go "well my char's going to be lore wonky, and fuck it if people don't like it", or just drop it. It is not a Dark Knight in the formal sense. Thus it does not violate the character of the actual job while still accessing it's assets. This is one of the things who personally make me eye roll the most. There's really nothing wrong with just... rolling the race, age, nationality, required background ect to play what is required for the job/class. But that is me. In any case, I think I made it clear enough by now that Au ra and DRK ain't going to happen, unless you go for the "I stumble onto a soul stone route". And even then. Why the fuck would an Au ra care about Ishgard's wrongdoing? You're taking a very specific class/job who's made for purging corrupt folk from their society. Especially with Au ra being slaughtered by Ishgardians in the past... I got a hard time believing why they should or would care. It is up to you whether you want to be lore compliant or not. Au ra DRK is simply ain't going to be unless you conjure up things out of thin air with "Othardian DRKs" or something what I've seen others do. I personally don't get why you are so set up onto roleplaying one, whereas you could just go... a Warrior, Lancer or Maurader. I find it more likely an Au ra travelled up the Hellsguard villages after the Garleans wrecked their shit, and learned how to Warrior there. But once more, being a baby Au Ra doesn't probably work all that convincing. You still have something semi emotion based I supposed, get to be flashy rargh in combat, and you can always level DRK and go "well she's just a warrior with a sword deal with it". You don't need to be a DRK to wield a sword. There's tons of folk who just levelled the class OOC to hold a sword in RP, including myself. Hell, I'd say most jobs just sound silly if you make your char super young... Anyhow. It is up to you what to do with it, I don't know how many times I can keep ripping and tearing at your char concept, but for saying once more. Au ra + DRK = ain't a lore friendly combo despite posterboy +50 quests.
  8. Might help if you tell us about your character a bit!
  9. I must probably have misunderstood something, but you say that ishgardians don't give a damn about foreigners (which is true), so how exactly would that make draft3 better? Why would that ishgardian DRK care? Because DRK? Then it works for draft 1 and 2 equally (as long as said DRK is in Eorzea and not Othard). I really, really don't see the difference here? Because it sorta happened in the questline? You get a hold of a Soulstone? Don't know how the DRK caring part would happen. But I guess it makes most sense? Think randomly finding a Soulstone and becoming a DRK while on Ishgard ground would make most sense, especially as a non Ishgardian. I would leave out the DRK being friendly to them, and instead being of some hidden Au ra tribe in Coerthas I suppose? I don't know either way what would make most sense, just that finding a soulstone would be the most fitting. Personally I wouldn't RP any of the options and just go an Elezen or midlander Hyur. Or a Au ra swordsman. I don't anything of it is really lore friendly, but stumbling onto a soulstone makes most sense for me.
  10. Draft 3 is the only one who's lorefriendly. Maybe 2 would do, but I still don't really see why Ishgardians would give a fudge about Au ra in general. Yes there is the questline yadayada. However Ishgardians are racist/classist up to the skies. Draft 1 is just out of question if you want to be lore friendly. If you really wanna be awesome... Roll a midlander hyur or elezen, and be Ishgardian. No need for wierd loopholes then. Really, we ain't that bad to play. However, you can't be a 20 year old kawaii au ra lady. You gotta be a bit older, that is if you are really really set onto roleplaying an Au ra Dark Knight. That said, you could just roll a Au Ra with a big bad ass sword as well. Pssssst play older chars. They rock. As for successfully accepted? Depending on what RP circle you are in. Most simply don't care about people telling their chars are wonky. I can safely say most Ishgardian RPers roll their eyes at Au ra Dark Knights. Others simply don't care. At the end of the day, it is up to you if you care about lore all that much. Else go for well, whatever option you find most fun!
  11. I think it is a great idea you're trying to find people together for this. However, don't be that RPing derp who is RPing while the other people in your group just want to get over with doing the dungeon ... I'd be pretty pissed if I got people RPing in my dungeons when I didn't sign up for it :l
  12. No, by normal means you're not getting in. However, I'd suggest playing the game first, see if you like it, and then there's always the option to transfer. That said, you can transfer up to 8 characters for the price of 1 unlike most other games, so there is that Sadly enough Balmung is locked often due to the massive overpopulation we have. On the upside we barely have goldspammer. But I'd suggest seeing if you like the game first, and then you can always transfer off to Balmung if you wish to get into RP.
  13. Fellow EU player here. Fear you are realistic seen quite out of luck. I had to hop onto Balmung to find a proper amount of roleplay. I never had issues finding RP tho despite the timezone issues.
  14. Ave just trained. Very boring, I know. She wasn't even a prodigy when younger. I guess her mother continued to train her after she was forced to flee Ala Mhigo. But no, very dull compared to most character's backstories. She just learned it at the place she was supposed to learn it.
  15. No. Astromancy is a Sharlayan only thing. NPCs in Limsa don't even know of it, and you would think with them having Arcanists, and maps, and pirates, and going onto the sea, they would know. But they really don't. You can, however learn it in Ishgard these days. But your char would be a scub astro at best. Or you can have her have travelled in her past to Sharlayan I suppose. Anyhow, have a astro lore summary here.
  16. Probably... Lho'a, Franz, and Scarlet. That said, it is more likely Ave and Franz start bitching at one another then do something productive... but all the more fun! Although I'd imagine Scarlet would be capable of slapping the two apart and get shit done. And damned be NPCs, Sounsyy stole the cool ones already.
  17. Been hooked on playing Lucio and Reinhart so far
  18. So RPC? Are you junking onto Blizzard's name game as well? Thoughts? Favo heroes ect?
  19. As a fellow EU player... best bet on finding RPing is at least after 00:00 (we're on the same timezones, because I happen to be Dutch!), it happens to be the time most US folk tend to log around that time. Before that you can find some, and the later it gets in the night, the easier in general. However, there's a sizeable amount of EU rpers to be found as well. I'd suggest making a seeking out connections thread There's an EU focused LS as well, although the brief time I was in it, I didn't feel I exactly needed it to find RP. Although due to a shoulder injury I have the 'luxury' to play till late o'clock. As the poster above me pointed out, most people tend to us /s "Blablabla good sir." she said. or /em tips fedora. "My lady." for IC things. Some folk use (( )) to indicate OOC talk. That said though, in the weekends its easier to find RP. I would strongly suggest making a connections thread, and join LS(s)/FC if you feel like it
  20. Hey there, Behold, the bringer of terrible news; nope I fear Balmung is your best bet. Gilgamesh is another option, but... Balmung outshines Gilgamesh on the amount of folk we got over there. I fear if you are really into roleplaying, Balmung is the way to go. I do wish the server was open more often, so folk like yourself could find their ways easier onto Balmung. But I fear for now transfering to Balmung is the only option. There as some attempts to create RP elsewhere. Maybe poke people around in this section of the RPC. If you do happen to transfer over to Balmung, mind you, as long your character did the few starting quests, and they are over 3 days old, you can transfer up to 8 characters along with you to Balmung. It isn't like WoW where you have to pay for every single one individually, so there is that. However, it does only count for one account, so I fear the both of you still need to dish out the transfer per account. In any case; if you enjoy the game, besides RP, I think it would be worth the transfer. You will have everything, including the RP on top of it. I made the transfer myself about a year or so ago, and I haven't regretted it since Best of luck with whatever choice you two will make!
  21. My two quick gil before going to bed. Summoning anything primal like, let alone one of the Twelve, would fuck Hydaelyn massively over, not to mention you are basically making a huge impact on the storyline/lore set, and other roleplayers may or may not agree with your Twelve/Primal summoning. So I would scrap that. Being a Dark Knight, or having powers alike to it, is rooted into Ishgardian society. They are the batmans of Ishgard. We haven't seen anything alike outside people involved with Ishgard so far. White Mage powers is another can of worms, but basically you can't be a White Mage either if you wanna hang onto lore. Anyhow, Conjury does the same trick, without making your character a special case. Sounsyy made a lovely post about Conjury and White Mage to be found here. Black mage magic isn't possible (for long) without soulstones. You literally burn into pieces if you cast Black Magic without a soulstone. As well being blessed by one of the Twelve would make you... very special as well. It sounds as if you wish to roleplay something alike to a very odd Archon type of character. You can find more info onto those here. Fighting in a name of a God seems totally okay though. Hells, if you want it to be their 'inner strength' type of deal, that's cool as well. It isn't unheard of people fighting in the name of a God. Just not with their powers... Your character can think such though! Just... not actual powers. Just don't except people to play along with your char being granted so many 'awesome' powers by a God. While you tried your best to make an interesting background, if you want to be lore abiding, you gotta drop things, or adjust them at the very least. Dark Knight? Be heavily involved with Ishgard/Ishgardian. White Mage? That's just a no go. Black Magic? Only if you got a soulstone, and they are rare. And the magic is forbidden as well. Honestly, just being a poacher from a regular, normal, poaching miqo'te tribe from the Shroud is already interesting enough. We hardly see those
  22. Bismarck? I thought Ravana was a massive pain in the ass to clear it the first time. Domri and I had to beg Barengar to come tank it with us, because goddamn, tanks who derped wiped the whole group in his aoe cone :l
