We all have sins, Nero. But if anyone wants to do it, I'd be happy enough to leave a comment and support it. I just prefer to avoid it myself due to not being native English speaker and I'd rather have a well thought out post on it instead of my normal rambling.

Uuuh. Didn't Gilgamesh RP sort of low key failed due to (knowingly) going to the unofficial Reddit server? Non-RPers tend to bully RPers after all. That's the reason why I heard that Gilgamesh flopped.

I'm not certain how many of you here tried to battle the big guy, when it comes down to roleplay servers. I did on WoW when my old server ended up dying. We ran so many events ourselves, and while I had a blast for months, it was a uphill, losing battle. We gave up and transferred off. I think if I couldn't transfer to that big remaining RP server, I would have simply quit that game. I imagine more new and/or older roleplayers on other servers might end up doing this due to the server lock. Establishing/reviving a RP server is really not as easy as people make it out to be.

I think FFXI had an invite pass system for locked servers. So you could still invite your friends over to come join you on your (locked) server when creating a new character. Who knows they might implement that on the long run, if they don't open Balmung up again. Not that would be ideal, but it would be something.

Well new roleplayers just got shafted. Because lets face it, nearly everyone will want to join the big server and not the one with 3 serious roleplayers on it. Sort of feel let down by this? I know non-Balmung people don't agree with this, and are probably happy with this. But I like seeing new blood rolling into the RP community on Balmung. Welp. I just hope another server will start to flourish for roleplay, but I'm certain a lot of potential new roleplayers will just give up before they even start.

173 ping to new (rumoured) data center. Was 128 before. Not the end of the world, but not great either. (From the lands of tullips, windmills and weed.) That said with 128 I could notice the difference. US folk can tempt fate and walk in back in the boss attack at the split tiny last millisecond of the castbar. But that's about it. Just hope it ain't too bad. I'm just happy this ain't GW1, nor am I PvPing in that game. I'd scream with anything over 40.

I'm so happy to see a heap of (younger) Ala Mhigans who are loyal to the Garleans! But I think we might be booted out of Rhalgr's Reach eventually and forced to flee to Othard to gather support? I'm not sure! Was really cool to see the Xaela. AND A GRANDMA AU RA. LIKE HOLY SHIT. Not to mention, its cool to see some villainous women this time around. (even if they probably get a redemption plot, turn out not to be evil ect. But still!)

Have you heard about our lord and saviours the Fist of Rhalgr? I heard they are pretty neat.

Yes and no! Mostly because Avelyn might get her 'happy ending'. Her temple (or starting to rebuild the Fist of Rhalgr), kids to look after, married ect. Basically everything I didn't want to give her, or mostly seemed out of reach for her. That brings me to the fact I need to retire her probably. She probably won't bother to actively leave whatever area the Fist of Rhalgr end up into. Hells, I'm still hoping for a remote hidden active temple. Already discussed a couple of plans regardless of no temple or temple being around with a couple of friends. I might not need to but I'm afraid she will have little reason to leave her little community once she gets it! But that might take a while. In any case, I will deal with it when the time comes. I'm mostly just excited to see how Ala Mhigo/Gyr Abania actually looked like. And hopefully a lot of delicious Ala Mhigo lore to come. Personally I don't care overly much about the weeb towns, but the steppes? Sign me up, that looks awesome for RP. I just hope I can get an excuse to go there IC with Avelyn.

Uuuh yes. And no, queues aren't World of Warcraft lol affairs. Think with HW (early) release the 'worst' queue time I got was 11 minutes? It's really not that bad.

Tip: Make 8 characters on the same server! You can transfer all off them per the SAME price to Balmung. So always have alts on hand for other character concepts (Just make sure you got the standard subscription and not the entry subscription!) That said, you will get a free fantasia (race/appearance change potion) with your first time paying your subscription. So if you really regret your character's looks, you can always change them. On top of that, fantasias and name changes (and even server transfers) aren't that expensive compared to other MMOs. Best of luck!

If you're logged into Google, if you type in 3PM EST you will get your local time in return. So the timezones differences aren't that much of a headache to figure out that way.

Sadly enough all the older Fist of Rhalgr characters I know (including my own) don't really take apprentices or will be too busy with the liberation of Gyr Abania to take on apprentices. Who knows things may change come Stormblood or afterwards though! But for now I'm afraid I can't really point you to directions of older Fists due the reasons above! Doesn't help we are pretty rare on top of that. So I wish you luck finding a mentor!

Depending on how old she is, Avelyn might be interested being around her! My Ala Mhigan loves being around older Highlanders/Ala Mhigans herself, but they are super hard to find. If not, we can still work something out if you want! Let me know o/

First of all, check if you can pay trough Steam on the Mogstation. If you can, I'd suggest just adding money to your Steam account and paying trough that option. I never had to deal with the SE store due to this!

I sort of do it with my elezen lady, but moreso that she's Sharlayan and feels that people shouldn't have accesses to these tomes, and rather takes care of them herself then seeing random adventurers do it. Knowledge in the wrong hands is her motivation, not so much killing voidsent ultimately. Anyhow, those books might be something to work with for your character as well, even if their motivation is different? From what I recall, even SE doesn't know to make up their mind. At first it was a thing for the WarriorS of Light, then THE Warrior of Light. I know a few friends who have retconned their character's being teleported due to SE handing out new and different information every so often (what is a shame, one had a tragic backstory about their family thing he was dead or left them to rot and wanted absolutely nothing to do with the character when he found them again). That said, there's 'regular' people who survived the Battle of Carteneau as well. As Warren said, I think it was just a group of people who Louisoix teleported into the distance. But... FFXIV lore isn't easy, even the Lorebook is very bare bones. While you can be multiverse FF, dimension jumping, timeskipping character... I'd honesty would suggest going with something easier the first time around? Especially because you are so new to the game! Your character's backgrounds are just the foundation to build upon, and if they are shaky to begin with... Nothing stop you from going 'Hey my character was the daughter to Limsa parents, things were rough but once she came off age, she decided to pick up x and became an adventurer', or something like that. It has so much less potential to stab yourself in the foot, especially if your knowledge of lore is super barebones to begin with. You don't need to have interesting complicated backgrounds to have an interesting character!
