Uuuh. Not to start a completely OT discussion here, but my ex is from Leeds and he was in stitches over Raubahn's VA for it trying to sound like a 'random northern' accent. I agree, it's not Scottish, but it's also not something from up Yorkshire. It is just a voice actor trying to sound like a very generic northern British bloke and failing miserably at it according to a lot of UK/Scots/Irish folk Honestly... I wasn't impressed with the accent either. It's obviously a southerner's attempt, and his vowel shapes in particular fall short in most sentences, if not all. I think they think Yorkshire's an easy "northern" one for them to try because, like... Emmerdale is a thing. LOL. Other "northern England" accents aren't quite as popularised, I don't think. It makes it even harder to incorporate Raubahn (and Ilberd's) accents into clues about Highlander/Ala Mhigan society. If only they would give us more lore, or real life references for dialect/accents/languages in Eorzea! Then again I've seen people headcanon that Ala Mhigan speak Dutch :l Not German, but Dutch. Being Dutch myself? Nooooo thanks on that one. (Dutch is an ugly language without any charm to it to begin with)

Ala Mhigans are very diverse when it comes down to skintones. Don't sweat it. We see a lot of diverse skintones. The Monk trainer is Ala Mhigan and he is pale skinned. Just wander trough Little Ala Mhigo and you will find all sorts of skintones! Skintones have little to do with where a character hails from. Also accents in this game make zero sense. It is just a 'generic fer the nerth' accent. I had my Irish, Scottish and UK friends trying to make sense out of it and they all gave up on trying to pin it down. It's a mixed bag of 'what sounds nice to the general audience' type of deal.

Astrologian quests also expresses a huge disdain for 'outsiders' having knowledge of their magics and ways! Believe it is the official reason for Severstre to hunt after Leveva. If they do that, I will organise a protest in game to demand the NPC's death We can all abuse the DoT dungeon glitch to kill our characters in cities and get enough people to spell something out with our corpses. Though it would not be unlike a Japanese game to almost kill a character, and then kill them JUST WHEN YOU THINK THEY'RE SAFE. YEAH LETS DO THIS

Well that's going to be a heavy few weeks of RP for a lot of Ala Mhigans I know now :L I know some people who are rolling whether their character is going to survive the ordeal if they logically could make it there :^)

Hope this helps, I'm going to keep this brief and just give loredumps for yourself. TLDR: Shadow sect lore: Same as Light sect, except they got booted out out of the main Temple and forced into obscurity due to a disagreement over the royal house. Shadow and Light sect split is a political thing. Not an evil vs good thing. Also chakras don't make you behave you in a certain way as far as we know. Shadow sect and Light sect employ the same techniques. More on that in the links below. Your chakras are aspected in both Light and Shadow sect side (probably Umbral and Astral, but that's a guess. Not lore). They are valves in your body, and Monks claim all living beings have them. Sounsyy lore on Chakras and Fists Chakra Lore More Chakra Lore Opening Shadow Sect chakras - Same as Light really Anyhow, not telling you how to roleplay; seeming we both disagree massively on the way we roleplay our Monks to begin with, but hopefully it clarifies a few things for you regardless. Heya! While I don't struggle with the issue you have, as I have a very other view on this all. I find plots and the like only really work with a small group of people. In other RP community? Sure, bigger crowds could work, but the chat eating text, the chat in general being terrible to navigate, limited slots in party, the fact we're incapable of making alliances and all basically leaves a lot to be desired in regards of DMing stuff for people. Personally? If you enjoy those social nights yourself, whether it is attending them or just running them for other people? Continue to do it! But do try to pick out people who are up for plot things. But keep it small you know? Unless you want to run bigger plots, you have to sacrifice more time and/or find more DMs to help you out, but I'm not sure if you want to do that either. Also just because this is what I prefer and works better for me on a smaller scale so far doesn't mean it will work for you, or if it's even the advice you're looking for. Same as Kileit stated above, I will be watching this thread in case someone has better advice. I'd love to see more suggestions on running plots for bigger crowds because it is something I struggle with as well. Also, make sure you don't get too frustrated and/or burned out by things. There's no shame in stepping back either for a little while!

As someone with social phobia and actually cooping with it (because honestly, you will never get 'over it'), that is exactly what needs to be told to people: that they need to stop fucking hiding and get out there. Not everyone is out there to get you. You ain't going to achieve jack shit in roleplay, or in real life, if you're going to be coddled constantly. The fact people bring this up and use it an excuse for people to hide behind is utterly disgusting to me, and in fact you're just enabling their social anxiety by stating this nonsense. Privileged lens? C'mon man, every person has issues. Is it harsh to say? Yes, but it is better then constantly enabling and talking their behaviour 'right'. There's a difference in acknowledging it, and enabling it. Stop enabling social anxiety and social phobia. It's very harmful to those people and you're really not helping by letting them use it as an excuse and not a reason. Edit: Also my excuses if this was not your intention to come across, I'm getting slightly drunk, English is not my native language, and I'm just generally sick and tired by people using any disorder as an excuse and not a reason.

As said above, you really just need to have a talk. These things are better handled sooner then later before the end up potentially risking a relationship being broken up.
