  1. I've pretty much got my main character decided upon but I hate filling out character sheets. In real life I make Zane manage all my D&d sheets for me because it's just too much micro managing for my tastes Instead I decided to RP her sister on the forums so that's the character you're all seeing. Mostly what's needed is to move the story ahead a bit. I gave my character a "time limit" so she'll be ducking out soon to go seek RP elsewhere Also, I wouldn't worry too much about how your characters are coming across on day one. First impressions are just that so you can always take what you learned and adjust as needed.
  2. Cassondra's eyes widened as she surveyed the pile of money poured onto the counter top. She wasn't sure if she was more surprised by his polite demeanor or the fact he'd just produced enough coin to buy the tavern. Gingerly she took one of the coins and gauged it's weight speculatively. It's real alright, she thought as she turned it over in her hand again. Nervously, she glanced down to the end of the bar where people had come to listen to two captains who had finished their business early and had come in for beer. The barkeeper was huddled next to the men, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, wiping a practically filthy cloth through a mug before pouring rum into it. The group of women at the nearest table still seemed to be engaged in a conversation about alchemy or such. Across from them a pirate filled a chair with his enormous girth; his every movement causing it to protest loudly. His pudgy hands were tattooed across his knuckles and he had pouting lips that dripped rum as he drank from his flagon. He roared with laughter as his companion, a small man with a pockmarked face, relaid an old tale of glory. The rest of the tavern was filled with the scum of the city and all were armed. Sondra smiled sweetly as she placed the coin in a jar behind the counter, "Enough to buy quite a few drinks and more then one or two pretty girls to keep you company on top of that. I'd put the rest of that away though if you plan on walking out with it." She took a dark amber colored bottle from off one of the higher shelves behind her and then proceeded to pour the drink into a clean glass. Sliding it across the counter to him she explained, "This goes down a bit easier then your usual swill. It tastes a lot like butterscotch, if you've ever had it. That should quench your thirst for drink, but if you don't mind me asking, which one of those ladies over there were you looking at?"
  3. After discussing it over with Zane it looks like Limsa-Lominsa is actually where we'll be starting. Took me by surprise, but I have a storyline I've always wanted to do and this will give me a chance at last.
  4. Cassondra wiped away the last of the rum spill from across the smooth surface of the table and looked down at her reflection. A piece of blonde hair had fallen from her ponytail and with a small sigh she tucked it behind her ear. She had only been working at The Drowning Wench for five months and she already felt tired. No use thinking about what can't be changed and really I'm just lucky to be here, she reminded herself as she picked up the empty glass and put it on the tray next to her. As Cassondra picked up the tray and began to head back towards the kitchen, she spotted a newly vacant table. Bottles of various alcohol and half empty glasses almost hid the small pile of gil left in the center of spread. After glancing around the room to see if anyone was paying attention, she casually strolled over to the table. Leaning down as if to begin picking up the mess, she picked up the money and slipped it onto her pocket. She shifted her eyes once more around the room and noticed one of the other girls moving towards the table. Quickly Cassondra began picking up the glasses and adding them to her own tray. A few moments later Cassondra heard a voice from behind her, "Hey Sondra, thanks for helping me clean up." "Yeah, no problem!" She turned and smiled at her friend Beth as she gestured to the table. "It was the least I could do considering how awful they were. Didn't even leave a tip." "Great." Her friend frowned as she started stacking bottles on her tray as well. "Well, I'm off in half an hour. I need to get home before Crystal notices I didn't go to school today." "Alright, I guess we'll see you tomorrow." As Beth turned to smile at Sondra, her elbow knocked one of the glasses and poured rum down the table and across the floor. Groaning she bent down to wipe up the spill, "This is turning out to be a perfect day for me." Sondra shrugged and patted the girl on the shoulder, "Look at it this way. In one hundred years, who's gonna care?" Cassondra walked across the room back to the bar area and she suddenly noticed a man in a cowl whose eyes were fixed upon something. Following his gaze she saw a table of women chatting together. She wondered why the man was watching them so intently as a smile crossed his lips. He didn't look like the womanizing type, but she reminded herself you could never tell with strangers. She passed him casually as she made her way into the kitchen. She placed her tray on the piles of dirty dishes left for the scullery boy to clean and made her way back out to the bar area. The man she had passed was now examining the rows of drinks in front of her and he called out, "Barkeeper?" She motioned for the somewhat angry looking barkeeper to go back to his business and smiled at the man, "He's a bit busy at the moment. I'm Cassondra and is there anything I can get for you instead?"
  5. I'll miss the old forums and adventuring with everyone from Sylph. However, I decided last night I'll be naming my FFXIV char in partial memorandum to the old place. Thanks again for keeping it together for so long Dy Guy
  6. Zane bought me laptop in November and it scored a whole... 121 Thankfully we have the ps3 and he's going to be getting a desktop for me to play on before the game comes out. However, I am so completely relieved female hyur will be able to have long hair. All the screenshots so far showed shorter haired hyur or showed them from the front only. I was starting to feel a little disappointed that my character might not be able to look the way I wanted it.
  7. I'm still playing FF11 although it's a bit difficult with my schedule now. I mostly log on for things like Limbus and wrapping up a few missions. I admit to feeling the pull of WoW again as I'd like to get some stuff done before the expansion comes out. Zane and I have been challenging each other in Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver and tons of Magic/D&D with our friends. We've also been watching a lot of films. Right now we're going through all the Bond movies and it's been a ton of fun! It's definitely given me a new appreciation for Austin Powers I've been focusing on spending time with baby Sera and Zane and I think even when 14 comes out I won't spend even half as much time as I did in 11.
  8. I saw that on your IM message last night and figured you'd be freaking out. Congrats ^^
  9. Wow Dy... wow. So many jokes but I think I'm just gonna let it go >.> I definitely agree with you, Cas. When I first started playing magic all my D&D friends had decks that matched their characters personality. Right now I have a paladin and I've been dying to make a white deck around her. They're going to be releasing a magic 2011 intro pack called Blades of Victory soon which are all soldiers and knights. I'm planning on gutting it to make a all female knight/soldiers/angels deck to suit that character. Her nemesis in D&D is a mage who focuses on fire magic so he's got a red deck that represents his character and I can't wait to see them face each other.
  10. We have QuickCheck up the street here. I'm guessing it's the same thing pretty much and I swear the guy working the counter isn't suppose to be there today.
  11. Why are you filling this out now - you've been here for a long time?: Hey! The forums haven't even been here that long! Long enough! You could have done this months ago: I know, but I'm lazy. Then why now?: I'm bored I guess. Plus I haven't slept a lot. Is there any way to make this form more entertaining? ... Like how?: I dunno... maybe throw in some trivia. No.: Oh... then how about giving out free pie! I like lemon custard.: Ominous! RL Info (if you want): ... Was that the first question? No, this is...: Oh, okay, good. I was worried for a second. RL Name: Could I be called Christina? Is that your name?: Well, I've always been partial to it. ... No. RL Name: Eh, Leanne I guess. Blame my mother for that one. RL Age: Psht! A lady who will tell her age will tell anything. Sensitive. Country: I'd say Canada, but they have curling... so I guess the US. Timezone: Eastern. Although living in Trenton is like being stuck in a early 90's Tarantino movie no matter what time it is. You mean like Jackie Brown?: No, more like Reservoir Dogs. RL Gender: Dispite a collection of Magic cards and Star Wars action figures - female. --Why do you like to RP? What's with the dashes suddenly and where did the : go? -- We're mixing it up a little... now answer the question! It's a great way to use your imagination while socializing with others. -- You mean all your friends are dorks and nerds? Yes. I mean - no! Mostly I like going on adventures with my friends and seeing what our combined imaginations can do. Right now I play in a Final Fantasy 11 based D&D game with my friends on Sunday nights. My character is the only lawfully good party member and so she gets to be the target of all the "evil" characters. Currently she's trying to save the middle lands from being torn apart by war, revive the paladin guilds, and kill the Arkangels who infused her with magicite before it kills her. In normal D&D I play a bard named Karyn who dreams of becoming a virtuoso. On her way to fame she makes an enemy of a former werewolf, helps her friends defeat a rampaging calzone monster, and destroys the life's work of a evil mage. We even made the mage tower out of d20's. -- So you *and* your friends are dorks and nerds. Next question: Hey! Next question: RP Preferences: Are we back to using : again instead of -- --Are you willing to RP a fight scene in game? Eh, this doesn't tend to work out so well in my opinion. In a tabletop game it's easier to work out then online. If I want to pwn people I'll log on my WoW characters and kill some Horde. -- You play Alliance? Yeah, Orcs are just way too ugly and don't get me started on undead! Although I guess technically my Death Knight is undead... --Psht... only noobs play Death Knight now. What is your preferred method of combat? (/randoming, skill based, etc) Well, since I don't like to RP fight scenes this question is really- -- Answer the darn question! Oh... umm... I guess if it's part of a storyline and appropriate for my character to react that way then I guess just work something out with me before we start. --Are you willing to take major injuries in game? (ie limb loss, comas, etc.) No, I'm clumsy enough in real life so I don't need to pretend. -- Not even a bruise or a cut? I'm not really into the idea of losing a limb, eye or other major body part. A coma is fine but everyone seems to have that happen to them so it's a little cliched. Things that will mend easily enough with time is what I prefer. --Are you willing to let your character die permanently? ... Why? - Are you plotting against me? -- Perhaps. I'm not really willing to let a character die permanently. Faking their death is fine or just having them disappear is preferable. I'm sleeping with the lights on now >.> --Are you willing to RP romance in game? How far are you willing to go? Are you getting fresh with me?!? -- No, seriously! People want to know this stuff. Castiel said be detailed as well Nope, not really willing to RP a romance with anyone. If someone really wants to know why then they can PM me and I'll politely explain my views on it. -- What??! But RP is all about romance and hook ups, right? That's a stereotype! -- Well, what if a character develops a crush on you or something? Then I'll handle it as my character would. As a general guide, if they don't know the other person too well they'll be creeped out by it >.> If it's someone they care for as a person and like spending time with then I don't mind working out some sort of storyline around that - just don't be disappointed. --What kind of non-romantic RP relationships are you willing to take part in? (family ties, etc) Hmm... I don't mind having siblings, cousins, etc as long as they have similar backgrounds and it makes sense. However, I'm not up for making long term RP relations with just anyone. I'd prefer to be fairly close friends OOC before committing to something I might regret later. --How far from the actual lore are you willing to stray? Part of the fun is making a character that could actually live and breath in that world so I'm not interested in breaking away from that. Small things don't bother me but glowing eyes, supernatural powers, odd family histories, etc. just don't impress me. -- I have blue glowing text, does that impress you? No. Plus it's not really glowing. -- In my reality it does! Well, get over it. Your text doesn't glow and people's eyes don't either. Nor do they drink blood, fly or get possessed by demons more then once a year. --Views on chat functions (IC vs OOC)? I don't mind OOC comments marked with ( ) in party chat, but I really don't like it in guild chat at all. I also don't like roleplaying in /tells or whispers unless the person is standing right next to my character and they have specific reason to. If you send me a /tell I'm going to assume you're talking OOC and I'll respond that way as well. --Are you looking for Cross-guild Rp? Hmm... more likely then not I'll be roleplaying with people in my guild on a day to day basis. However, if I meet another roleplayer or have a friend in a different guild I'll definitely roleplay with them. --How do you prefer to be contacted? (PM or post in this thread) Well, I prefer all messages to be sent to my home wrapped in hundred dollar bills and diamonds >.> -- ... Alright, I guess a PM is fine. If you want to you can IM me at SariahBelmont. -- That's a weird AIM screen name... It's a long, long story. Just feel free to add me. Be forewarned that on Sunday's my account gets abducted for Final Fantasy D&D sessions so if you message me you'll be recruited to help me save the Middle Lands. You can also e-mail me at [email protected]. My facebook is Leanne Bailey but if I don't know you then I'm not going to add you, obviously. -- Is there anything else you'd like to add? No, not really. -- Are you sure? - No one likes to fill out boring forms and answer endless questions. I get lonely sometimes. ... I'm leaving now.
  12. Honestly, I'm not sure I like any of the starting cities that much. It feels like my choices are Spartacus, Avatar, or Pirates of the Caribbean >.> I'm leaning towards Ul'dah but Gridana might lure me yet so I'll hold off on voting till I decide.
  13. Hiya Endi! I've looked for you a few times on 11 but I'm on at odd hours of the night. Send me a tell if you see me around and good to hear from you again. Also, other then female midlander I have no idea what kind of character I'm going to create either. Apparently they found some other jobs such as Fencer, Musketter, Mystic and such in the FF14 files so maybe I'll pick up one of those jobs. I'm guessing Lancer is the perfect Endinka job though if you go with that again
  14. Stats, free exp, and a uniform so smart it has a PhD from Cambridge! Post up your stats here:
  15. I was thinking about buying the Celestial Steed for my paladin or my death knight until I considered a few things... 1. It's $25 and all you get is the mount. At least the pets you get a plush toy irl so you feel like you got more then just a graphic for your money. 2. It's about as expensive as two of the FFXI expansion packs but you're getting a whole lot less. 3. At least my other WoW mounts there is a story behind how I got it and it feels like I accomplished something by getting them. This is just a "I spent lots of money" achievement. I like feeling as if I actually did something for my in game items. On the other hand, I did a lot of raising and racing chocobos in FFXI and it felt like a waste of time. If they do something mount wise in 14 I'm hoping they make it difficult enough so you can feel you accomplished something but not so stupidly drawn out you still feel like you didn't achieve anything worthwhile.
  16. My favorite screenshot is when Zane was trying to arrest Devilon and he pulled out a warp cudgel and hit him over the head.
  17. Yeah, it's been a while and I'm having a busy year so I haven't played FFXI much. I've missed being able to hang out and catch up with people. Anyway, you guys are on my IM list so feel free to message me whenever I'm on or you could always send me a PM.
  18. Three years ago today Zane and I got married in game. It was a very fun RP event and I know a lot of people from Legacy and Crystalline attended. It's sorta a small event considering now we have a 11 month old and we're going to be looking at houses soon but it was a neat day to look back on. I think Zane's got better pictures then I do but here's one just as a good fun memory for everyone:
  19. Actually the cool thing about Zane's game that I found is how the npc's ended up evolving differently. For example, Amutiyaal doesn't just stand around San d'Oria (renamed Provoka for the game), take your money and warp you to Al Zhabi anymore. He's a crazed lunatic that killed Sherilla during a tournament and is pretty much the last person you'd want to meet in a dark ally. Aphmau is about 17 I think and one of the strongest world leaders although nearly all the Blue Mages were wiped out in the recent war against the Middle Lands. Rochefogne is a member of the Onrac alliance and leads Tavnazian. We get to have a lot of fun coming up with alternate versions of the characters. Another fun thing we get to do is once a year Zane does a "movie". It's usually non-cannon so you can do things with your character you wouldn't normally get to do. For example the last movie was the FD&D world based in Dissidia like combat. Our characters could be any age so some characters had more information about the future then others, you randomly got items and cards (which could either hurt or help your character)and it all focused on PVP. We try to do all the peoples characters we "borrow" justice although sometimes I think it would be much more fun to have the people who created them there to contribute. Maybe one day I can talk Zane into doing a vent movie where anyone we knew could participate ^.~
