First off, I'm a human and as a human I'm all in favor of humanity. For a few years in FFXI I played a Mithra and I don't think anyone really understood me when I said I didn't feel like a cat. >.> It was always weird to me when people started playing with her tail or licking me everywhere. In role-play I ended up seeing her as more of a comic relief type character and when I tried to fit her into a serious role it just didn't come together for me. So when she was level 63 with 80 alchemy I ditched her for my Hume character. I like the versatility Hyurs give and I don't feel so locked into having to act a particular way (or having people treat me a certain way). My only complaint about FFXIV is that there is not enough diversity with Hyur females. I don't want to be a hulking Highlander Hyur chick but I don't think "big nose or small nose" and "big lips or small lips" is enough to convince me that everyone is really unique.

Open Beta begins August 31 (New Trailer too)
Seraphine Felstar replied to Aveline's topic in FFXIV News
Phew! I'm so glad it's going back up. Not that I'm addicted already or anything... 8-) -
For smaller gatherings I like the spot outside The Bismark that's like a little outdoor restaurant. The only thing that concerns me is that it might disrupt people who are trying to craft. I'm not sure of how many people will be there as it seemed fairly empty every time I went so I'm going to say it's up to your desgression.

Aww! I think you just made Ren's day Can't wait to see you in game, Endi!

I totally understand what you mean here! Seraphine gets along with people I didn't expect her to and she ended up meeting a lot of people I don't think OOC I would have talked with normally. It's kinda interesting because OOC I feel like I met a lot of friends through Seraphine While I believe you are responsible for your character, I also think there is a time to let go and let them be who they are instead of forcing yourself on them. Geez that sounds odd  In the beginning of FFXI I tried to force Seraphine a bit into a villain role when really... she's much more neutral good. Sometimes she does things that are a little questionable but she was never a traditional villain. As soon as I accepted that things got much easier and she began to flow more naturally for me. When recreating her for FFXIV I really wanted to get away from the ponytail look and I thought now would be the perfect chance. I always roleplayed she put her hair up while she was fighting so it wouldn't get tangled and icky and at home she took her hair down and styled it nicely. If I change that now it's almost taking away from the fact she takes a lot of time to think about her appearance and changes it to suit the situation she's in. It's her signature look and I really don't want to change it after thinking about what it means to her character. I did end up giving her blonde hair though instead of black but I had .dat modded that a while ago in FFXI so it didn't seem so far fetched I think it's fun how sometimes your own character can surprise you You should put your story up in the story section, btw. It gives a preview to your characters which was fun to read.

I completely agree with Ren! Seriously those are really beautiful! You have a very pretty soft style of anime that I just love. Nice work :cheer:

Anyone care to share their Benchmark scores?
Seraphine Felstar replied to Kale's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Oh... yeah, as Zane said I could barely run the benchmark but I'm able to play the Beta. It really is like having max settings on while being in Dynamis in FFXI but I was able to create a character, explore a little and kill a few rats. Thankfully the upgrade to my processor that I need is only $15! Did I just win the cheapest FFXIV upgrade cost contest? Moral of the story, the benchmark really isn't a good judge of weather or not your computer can handle the game at this point from my point of view. -
The beta took me hours to download. I have a feeling the actual game will be even worse. So... somehow I'm thinking the server names will be up and ready for everyone to view before most of us are even finished downloading everything. With that in mind, it's entirely possible to select the name quickly and and with the least amount of Sephiroth's as possible.

Beta - Character Names on Jecht (Old server)
Seraphine Felstar replied to Eva's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Crystal = Seraphine Winter -
The Beta Contest winners have been announced on Eorzeapedia. My winning ticket came to my e-mail an hour ago so make sure you check yours! You can obviously also check at: http://www.eorzeapedia.com Good luck to those who participated and see ya in game!

Question is - was it enough so that Zam would consider coverage on the RPC in the future? 50 posts is nice but was it enough to impress them? ^^;

Just watch, everyone will avoid Sephiroth and it'll end up being an awesome server. None of the NM's will be camped and the prices will end up being more stable So L or T?

New FF14 Interview: What you hated in beta is here to stay
Seraphine Felstar replied to Aveline's topic in FFXIV News
I'm glad they're releasing a new benchmark. It's very iffy at the moment if my laptop can handle the game after upgrading the processor. Apparently all I need is a dual core processor and my laptop is set, but doing so will void my warranty and might make it overhead. I don't want to risk that if I get better results with a new benchmark. At worse I'll have to steal Zane's computer when he's at work or not using it to play for the first month. After that we'll be able to afford a new computer for me, but why spend the money if I don't have to? -
Whatever it is, please don't make it take a long time! I really want to get into playing asap

Catherine - New game from the Persona team
Seraphine Felstar replied to Dogberry's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
It sounds like a fun game and worth scouting around for. I hope I can find copies at the local video game store. Thanks for filling me in about the series -
The first time I saw people roleplay in FFXI was when I was about level 10 running through the Ronfaure. There was a hume girl and guy sitting by the river talking about how his backstory. I remember thinking it was a bit like watching a movie and I actually sat down some distance from them and read the entire thing Note: Sometimes WoW trade chat makes me lose my faith in humanity I'd say that was a definite step in the right direction for the RPC and overall I'm happy with the results.

New FF14 Interview: What you hated in beta is here to stay
Seraphine Felstar replied to Aveline's topic in FFXIV News
At the moment it's much easier for me to solo then join a group so the ability to party doesn't matter to me, but the 48 hour cooldown really sucks! I also don't like the mana regeneration thing so until it's fixed up a bit I'm going to be playing a melee class it seems. What I'm really concerned with is the no auction house system and from what I'm hearing the lack of ways to get your gear repaired. It took them till about CoP for FFXI to start getting player friendly and (if you ask me) it didn't get fun until Abyssea. I expect a wait till FFXIV gets good and it will mostly be a struggle till then. -
It's the age old problem of some people aren't willing to listen no matter what you say. Honestly though, that's not the kind of person I think most of us would want to hang out with anyway. We're all fairly open minded and respectful of other peoples opinions so it would just cause problems to have someone who doesn't care to hear others out around. Lets let those who are going to flame us say whatever uneducated thing they want and respond in a mature manner so we'll end up ahead of the game. I'll just be happy if word gets to even a few roleplayers who are interested in what we're doing here and gains us some respect within the community. Again, I just gotta say a big huzzah to Castiel and a pat on the back to all the members here! A few years ago we never would have gotten this type of publicity. I think for the first time we have a real shot of being heard.
-
Yeah, the comments are rather... sad. It sucks to get stereotyped. The article itself was very nicely written and I think represented us all excellently. Thank you Castiel for the huge effort to get the word out there and all the hard work you're doing to earn roleplayers a bit of respect from the Final Fantasy community! Much appreciated! Is it alright if we post our own responses if they're polite and civil?

Wow! How beautiful! Looking at how awesome Gridania is it makes me realize how much I don't like Windurst though >.> Thanks a bunch for sharing, guys :cheer:

LOL! During high school my bedroom was all Star Wars memorabilia and one day a cable guy had to come over to fix my tv set up. When he came back out to the living room where my mom and I were sitting he said, "I'm done in your son's room." My mom started laughing and I wanted to just die
-
:: hides her Star Wars collection :: Star Wars is for dorks >.> Seriously, I have enough on my plate with Cataclysm, FFXI, and FFXIV. I'd love to narrow it down to one MMO but I just can't give up WoW or FFXI cold turkey

Think we'll ever see Blue Mage/Summoner?
Seraphine Felstar replied to Kima wolf's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Okay, the one Abyssea party I was in that had a summoner she actually joined the group, summoned Odin and two hour-ed right off. The problem is, for the first hour or so when you first join a group if you kill anything everyone loses time. Everyone gets three 30 minute stones and to remain longer you have to farm time extensions which take about an hour to start dropping. Each time you kill something without a time extension everyones overall time goes down. So you're suppose to help damage deal it down, then disengage and let others get the kill shot who have gotten time extensions already when you join an existing group. So right off everyone was slightly annoyed because she lost us time, but it was her first time in so she didn't know. Plus we only had four mobs in camp and while it appeared to me she killed every single one of them she was told not to 2 hour until they had pulled more mobs for massive exp. I'm guessing by that statement Odin kills whatever you've got. I'm not a summoner so I could be wrong. *Ninja edit for clarification. The baby has been up for hours so my head is all funny -
Think we'll ever see Blue Mage/Summoner?
Seraphine Felstar replied to Kima wolf's topic in FFXIV Discussion
SMN are actually desired for Abyssea parties to actually summon now and damage deal. They added Odin in a while go and he's pretty awesome. Every two hours you're suppose to let the group know when your two hours is up so they can pull a ton of mobs and Odin one shot them all for *massive* exp. In fact, Abyssea made a lot of the old jobs (like blm) highly needed again.
