  1. Looking for connections for Ophelia, again. Recently a lot of her stuff kinda took a turn and now she has virtually no connections and nothing to do. She originally was the owner of The Ballad's Rest tea-tavern, which in a way she owns it but no longer runs it (at least, not on a constant scale like before). She's very much interested in making new friends and potentially more than friends, etc. Wants to become an adventurer. She is skilled with hand-to-hand combat and a pretty smart little cookie. (eventually, when implemented, I intend to have her 'train' in the rogue/thief type of combat style.) And uh... Yeah. I'm not gonna lie. I feel a bit lost with her now with the sudden like... disconnections, you could call them. She has a wiki, here.
  2. Hey everyone. I hadn't thought of posting the link here, but I am under suggestion from Xenedra! I recently opened a tumblr account to help advertise upcoming (Balmung) RP events. Some users I knew prefer using tumblr and don't really use the RPC, or don't want to. So I do my best to browse the tag a couple times a day to see anyone's events, or I look here on the calendar. For any events I haven't already posted, I welcome submissions to the tumblr (which do not require an account). You're also welcome to point me in the right direction via messaging me here (I get email notifications instantly, so don't worry about me missing anything). The URL is http://balmungroleplayers.tumblr.com/ All a submission requires is an in-game location, time, date, an in-game name contact, and a brief description. Thank you all. I hope this becomes helpful for getting information out there.
  3. A lot of people still play as things that aren't actually implemented into the game yet. An example being, one of my characters is good with firearms and, in combination with his history and such, actually owns a functioning gunblade. The gunner-type class isn't implemented yet (but will be soon, alongside THF), but it's still very obvious at several points in the game that guns such as pistols, rifles, and even gunblades (though these are limited to Garleans unless you've worked out a logical explanation) that a character could easily be something along these lines. Same with Ophelia. She's a dancer/songstress, moreover in the literal terms of a performer and not an archer-type like the game function. I know dancer is a class in 11, but not here, and there's never really been mention if it'll be available or not as a game mechanic. But, you see a lot of dancers about Ul'dah, and [in 1.0] there was a main storyline NPC for Ul'dah that was a very popular songstress of sorts, without being a bard like the game defines it. So really, it's all up to your imagination, so long as it fits reasonably in the realm of the world. Majority of people I know don't RP their playable class as their actual class. Sometimes they just happen to play the class that their character is in-character. Myself, and most others, usually go by "IG =/= IC" I hope this helps.
  4. I sent the PM before, but I wanted to say that I'd love Ophelia to teach the dancing/musical classes. As for locations for them, I might discourage the Amphitheater, only because it's a really big hub for new players with the quests going on in there (unless that doesn't bother you guys?). In Ul'dah there's a small stage-of-sorts in the Golden Bazaar, too.
  5. I don't RP K'aworu specifically as a white mage or a conjurer, but more specifically just a "healer" in most cases because the preferences among players (ie: some rping very strictly according to in-game jobs and weapons vs. people who are more lax) seems to vary significantly. It makes it kind of easier, I guess? Personally, I don't really specify between the ranks of job v. class. In RP, all those who use elemental spells are referred to just as "people who use thaumaturgy" and people who can heal are "people who use conjury" I like to stick to lore a lot, but I guess I don't like sticking to it so far as to needing to use the game mechanics in RP. (Does that make sense?)
  6. Excellent! I'll be sure to do so ASAP. Ophelia was hauled off temporarily, IC, so upon her return, I'll write you.
  7. I've seen you around! I think this sounds fun and I'd love to help out and such. Ophelia has a tea-tavern called The Ballad's Rest, located out in Aleport, so she would be incredibly excited to help out.
  8. It is no problem. Regardless of your choice, feel free to add me in-game or send a message if you need any help and/or want some RP. K'aworu needs more friends, haha.
  9. I would also like to extend my friendship. Feel free to add me in-game ("K'aworu Demiir") or send a /tell or anything. K'aworu travels often, so meeting (anyone) up anywhere isn't really an issue or anything. Happy trails.
  10. I wanted to post because I had a similar debate with myself not long ago. My character is a male miqote who is fairly feminine, thin, etc. When I draw him, even, he comes out looking more on the girl side of things (and I've had several people get a bit testy about this, thinking he was a she and being upset that they called a dude hot and thus their sexuality was threatened, but I digress) While the male models are a little more buff than I want, I simply make it a point from time to time in RP to mention in writing that he is thin. IE: referring to his fingers as thin, his frame frail, etc. It's all in the writing. That being said, it's still pretty possible to configure the faces just right if you play around with them and get a youthful appearance that isn't totally in-your-face-super-manly or anything. Ultimately, it's really your choice, but I'd like to draw attention to some of the other things the people in here have said, mainly because it will come up in RP with people who are unaware of your character's background. Most of the armors available to wear for females cater to the figure. Even with the boob sliders on 0, there is still a bit of puff here and there, there's jiggle, and most if not all of the armor cater to that sort of hourglass-esque figure (on every female in every race). If you're willing to deal with that and the fact that your character is going to be mistaken a lot for a girl, then I suppose you have nothing to worry about. On a random sidenote, the fact that the race you chose was the Moonkeeper side of things, it'll help with the innocent youngling appearance because of the size of their iris/pupil. Sunseekers are slightly more difficult to achieve the look. Bottom line, however, that I've learned from RPing in any game, period. IC is not equal to IG. Even with the limitations of avatar options in the creation, ultimately it is your decision as to how they look. An example being, my man'qote has a very long braid and his hair is shaggy, cut asymmetrically. Obviously that's not an option at all. So I picked a somewhat shaggy style that was similar-ish, but I make it a point (as I said above) in my writing to mention that he has a braid, whether it's him playing around with it or it swishing around in a rainy wind. Etc. I think that's it... Forgive me if it's a little confusing or ramble-y or anything. Bit sleep deprived. ^^;
  11. Hi there! Just wanted to throw out that I also have a Garlean character. His name is Venalis Drocell. Feel free to message me if you ever want to RP or anything.
  12. @ Haeden: I'm more than happy to add you when I log back in. I really appreciate it. @Melkire: Thanks for pointing this out. While a couple of the traits haven't changed much, most have (such as the shyness and avoiding people altogether thing), and I really need to update it. I do know the type of character he is makes him challenging to get into RP and various relationships and such (like how people want to make the deep brooding anti-social characters but then wonder why noone approaches them). I know it's tricky, but it was something I welcomed when I made him. I'll go edit/update that. I apologize.
  13. Okay. Just being sure I'm on the right time, thank you.
  14. Honestly, no. The last time I tried to do that nobody was interested because they said they preferred to be in-game.
  15. I have intentions of going and I see that it says it starts at 6PM est, which means 4pm for me (Mountain). So I think there is a small error on the front page. If it's 6PM est, it's 3pm pst? i think. i can count i swear?
  16. I appreciate the advice in this thread. I suppose I don't entirely know where to start anymore with any of it. I know exposure is important, but with the difficulty I'm having even getting any RP, it feels a bit like exposure is difficult too. I have plotstuff going for him that I've been told is interesting and not even breaking lore either, and I've posted about it several times and left bits on his wiki for people to follow, but that hasn't gone anywhere either. A lot of the people I do know to RP with, they're end game players so their schedules are a bit busy and clogged. When I do get RP, I try to make it interesting so that it's something they want to come back to me for, y'know? Other than tonights ball event, I usually take him to every event that (i'm aware of). I've been through like six FCs now and all of my linkshell slots are even full. But I guess that's what I mean. It isn't really for lack of trying. I just don't really know what else I can do to "get out there" when everything I've been doing so far doesn't seem to be working? I keep wondering if maybe he's not interesting enough, despite my best efforts to make the RP sessions have some sort of drama or mini conflict or just something that can be considered interesting.
  17. On the topic of communicating OOCly and stuff, is it stupid to sort of 'advertise' so to speak that you want to get something romantic going for your character or is it better to just leave it up to spontaneous..ness.
  18. I've been finding it difficult to set up times/dates with a majority of people I am meeting. Everyone keeps saying that spontaneous RP is better and that they prefer it, and that they don't like to set up things. So... I'm not sure on that front. I'll do my best to try and be more communicative OOCly, though. I'm generally not. I get really nervous and anxious.
  19. Heya. Posting again and stuff. I'm not really sure what to do or anything. I pick up random RP sometimes in the Quicksands, but I seem to have issues making lasting connections for K'aworu, and even myself. He has his sister and her people, but I don't want him just riding those coattails and burdening those players, y'know? I feel kind of stuck and frustrated with it. I really want to rp. I try to get out there, pick up tavern RP, or go to events if I can (i know there is a ball coming up, but my alt is going with her fiancee. I'm sure K'aworu doesn't want to go alone, either. So.) I have little plots with him and stuff, but I can't quite get it off it's feel very well. He has no connections, nothing. So...yeah. I don't know, I guess. Feeling lost and discouraged.
  20. The best thing I can think of are the things Ophelia wears (because I, too, am all about the frilly and the ribbons) The new dress, Spring Dress, comes in 4 pieces and is still very difficult to have made though. Extremely pricey. Alternatively, you can get your character to lv38 and get the crafting coatee set which has a nice big neck ribbon and a lace collar. The skirt isn't really frilly or anything, but offers thigh-highs to go with it. But along these lines, you're not going to find anything very Gothic Lolita-esque.
  21. I mean all things considered this might be somewhat short lived, but it seemed fun and I just wanted to spark some waves of IC drama for the people involved. I'm looking for some "bad guys" on Balmung for a little mini plot thing. Can't be opposed to kidnapping and it might be fueled by money? Unless you have any other ideas~! Please message me on here or on [Ophelia de'Winter] in game!
  22. I was wondering (and maybe this thread could serve to help others, too) but. Okay, so I have the Spring Dress, and I don't want the skirt part, so it's open in the front. I like having leggings (thigh high) on her, but the only two pairs I have and know of are the Miqo racial bottoms and the Coatee bottoms. Neither are dyeable. The coatee bottoms are a horrid beige shade, and the miqo bottoms are black, so I've had the dress to be black to match. My question is, do you guys know of any leggings that would be better suited? I'd really like her to have like.. white leggings with the blue on the dress or something. Thank you.
  23. While it's not exactly smack center of Limsa, it's still in La Noscea! I just wanted to toss out for people that my character, Ophelia, has a tea/tavern/inn set up in Aleport, just a little ways off from the city. Even if I'm personally not present, please feel free to gather there and RP! Most of the staff is NPC'd, so go nuts. (I'm also "hiring" wait staff and entertainment) http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ballad%27s_Rest_Inn_%26_Teahouse Feel free to poke me for RP in general, too. Ophelia frequently travels all the cities (and works at her tavern) and K'aworu lives there.
  24. I can't say it's really a job per se but I have K'aworu in Ul'dah like... all the time for his studies and what not. If anything, they can hang out?
