It's kind of alarming how many role-players cut off contact with me when they realise that I'm not willing to have Graeham jump into bed with their character within a few hours of meeting them. What's even more alarming is that some people expect ERP just because my character happens to be a bit of a flirt. It's already made for a few awkward situations. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to ERP. I just think the community as a whole is far too tolerant of it. I see it as a very private affair, not something that should be bragged about in public - especially if it involves questionable fetishes. Luckily it's possible to keep an eye out for warning signs and avoid it to some extent. It does require taking a firm stance though, so I feel sorry for people who aren't confrontational enough to tell someone to back off. I can relate to this post so much and I'm so glad to hear (in a way) that I'm not the only one with this issue. With K'aworu, there has been a very large amount of people who like him for eRP reasons. When I don't "put out" with him within a session, maybe two, I don't hear from the other person anymore. I even had the opposite happen too with a character I don't play now, but I got along well OOCly with another player and we had something setup for a backstory and it was fantastic, imo. We did also want to add a small level of no-ho-ho because both of us were intrigued by the idea and dynamic it would create. However, after this person slept with my character, they made it a point to avoid me and went RPing with everyone else. They started telling me they were always busy offline, even as they were sitting online and RPing. So I dunno. What do you want from me But, more seriously and back on topic. K'aworu runs into the aforementioned a loooot. I don't mind eRP at all, but he isn't a real frivelous character in that department. This isn't to say he's a prude, it's just not easy, y'know? I feel like, basically, that because my character won't sleep around and do it on the drop of a hat, that my character is automatically uninteresting and won't be approached.

I can't say I've seen anyone OOCly protesting to it. Lore wise though, it just kind of depends. ICly with characters, it depends, too. All about upbringing and background. My characters personally do not give a flying turd. One is a midlander-miqo mix and, sometimes she gets a bit insecure about it yes, but I haven't had anyone in RP blast her for it, IC or OOC.

Casually gonna just join this thread. I recently (through a long story) am recreating K'aworu on Balmung when the server opens up, but I've actually not been actively RPing much for some months... so I kinda need to update his wiki, not to mention probably set him on a more interactable sort of story arc (if that makes sense). Unfortunately just ooc/personal drama with people and while all of it is past, they still have a sort of negative feeling when I try to play them. They make me sad atm, I guess.

Hm, this presents a thing then. The character I want to play as an IC astrologian-in-training is a mi'qote. If it was race locked in the lore, I wonder what ideas would be able to explain such a thing?

Hello everyone. I'm trying to edge myself back into the community after an unintentional few-month-long hiatus, and I sort of feel like I'm brand new again... I don't really know anyone! Instead of returning to characters that have been making me unhappy, I've taken this opportunity to let them fade out and start anew. I was hoping to make this thread in an effort to establish some RP with people or maybe discuss any connections they could already have to help build his history. Currently he is unnamed, but I will be sure to fix that soon. Non-tribal mi'qote, likely Sunseeker, but I haven't 100% decided. I want to eventually put him into an astrologian related position, but only when we have more official lore an information, so at the moment he does readings for people with tarot cards to make a bit of money. He is a scholarly type and enjoys learning. At first he acts a bit prissy in regards to adventuring, but will suck it up for the sake of learning more. He also thinks he's the most graceful thing since Swan Lake but deep down he's kind of just another dorky nerd. Adolescent- probably in his early twenties. Black hair, bright blue eyes. Light skin. That's about all I have, really. So that's where this thread comes in! I wanted to know if anyone was interesting in already knowing (or at least getting to know) this character so I could hopefully flesh out a story a bit better. I'm at a loss. Currently my RPing schedule for in-game is a little limited, we can discuss days and times if that's the absolute only way you'll go :] But I also offer skype, tumblr, email, and PMs here on the forums. (Still have to make him in-game, to be honest. The whole name thing is stopping me. He is non-tribal so I do not want to have a Tia or Nuhn name, and I am unsure if I want to follow naming conventions as I do not have an idea on how or where he was raised...)

I want to thank you Lacour immensely for posting that infs, as I haven't been in game recently to really catch up on the changes. I'm eager to learn even more so I know what track to set my character on, story-wise. Maybe he can be recruited as a student later on, haha.

I'm definitely going to incorporate machinist into my character, maybe using guns at least, I'm not sure if he'd be an actual like.. engineer for them or not. Just using them. But I really want to have him based around Astrologian, and the most I can see is that it's healing, celestial, and tarot card related. I know I can't have him actually be one now adn that I have to wait until the expansion actually comes out (or at least some lore). Do you think it's acceptable to start him off as just some sort of like. Streetly fortune teller that makes money by giving people readings with tarot cards? Just a thought.

Well, I suppose I'm curious mostly for the fact that I want to create a new character now that I'm rejoining the community. I don't think many people enjoyed my last character, so I don't really want to play him right now. But I'm very, very strongly interested in making this character some form of the Astrologian. But without the info, I'm unsure of where I should start on his background.

So I was slowly edging myself back into the game and community now that my life has settled down, plus all the new announcements today... So my thing is, I was wondering: We don't know much lore on the new classes, but I do know that eventually I'd like to have my character know those traits (Machinist, Astrologian). What do you think would be a proper way to start my character in a logical, story way towards these things, without actually doing them yet because we don't know anything?

I recall there once was a project for this, but I never heard about it again. I had always thought it would be something fun to do. Anyone interested? I figure it can be anonymous or not, depending on preferences of the writer. We can match people randomly, or maybe by general interests? And the letters could be sent out every few days or so, in batches. I can send the anon based ones, too. Loose, base idea. Just sounded cute and fun, and maybe a good way to make connections?
