1. What I wrote before I saw the format everyone else was using: Zozoju's Backstory
2. As short and sweet as I can manage: I have a mammet character. Said character needs a body that's closer to flesh and bone (Warm, softish, but still stable enough for combat). While I could probably hand-wave an NPC doing this, I'd prefer to look for a PC first. If you have a character that suits this purpose, please PM me here or when I'm in game, and we'll chat. That's all! EDIT: Or, uh, I 'spose you could reply here, too.
3. I always worry about coming off as a Mary Sue. Even when my characters start off perfectly balanced (I assume), I feel like they start drifting towards Mary Sue-ism. Even when they're not, I worry that people will hear the character talking IC, and think they're a Sue, when it's just IC exaggeration of something, and not what actually happened. On that note, I also worry about how people interpret when I have a character that's purposefully wrong in some matter. I might, for example, have a character that thinks she's a magic-casting Garlean. But, in truth, she's not a Garlean, she just thinks she is. I worry that people won't consider that possibility, and just assume I don't know my lore. And speaking of, I *constantly* worry that I'm making a lore mistake, but people are just dismissing me instead of pulling me aside and letting me know what's up. *huff*
4. As much as you want, I suppose. My character wikis will end up with *a lot* of detail in the Biography section. In all honesty, I mostly do it as a reference for myself. If I had a perfect memory, my character bios would be a lot slimmer. However, I do keep in mind that other people might use the wiki page as a reference, so I'll include detail based on the "story role" I intend to have my character in. For instance, should I want to play a "villain", the wiki will only have "publicly available" information on it. Potential PCs could justifiably say their characters did research, and use the wiki accordingly. My most recent character is meant to have more of a supportive role. As such, her wiki will have a bit more detail when I'm done, so potential DMs have more to work with, should they desire it.
5. Friendly reminder that we're at the perfect height for a crotch uppercut. And?
6. I totally screwed up my character's life because it turns out I like the looks of the Au Ra better than the Miqo'te. >>;
7. I try to present it as naturally as possible through conversation. IE, Seldi will answer a question or explain things as they come up, but doesn't volunteer her life story otherwise (outside of amusing events that a particular situation might remind her of). Yes, this means that finding out the details of Seldi's history will require long-term RP. I tend to prefer the chance of that not happening to an exposition dump, though.
8. I tend to favor the idea of magic having a cost. It's the physicist in me. You know: energy is neither created nor destroyed. That kind of thing. This has a huge impact on how I view healing magic. I tend to be pretty flexible as far as receiving healing, whispering the healer OOCly to coordinate what we both want/expect out of the interaction. Seldi will respond with appreciation or amazement (or, perhaps, suspicion) depending on how things went. When my character is the patient, my goal is to keep the gears of RP flowing smoothly. When my character is the healer, though, things are a little different, and I tend to put a lot of thought into my healing:
9. Seldi's an academic, but she's also a keep-to-herself type. However, she's also a courier, and so I can reasonably justify her being anywhere if anyone wants to meet for RP. How might one recognize her as any kind of academic, you ask? Well, how many people walk around with massive tomes hanging off their hips that aren't?
10. This one, solely because I typically RP Seldi as a courier, so my reaction was kind of a sarcastic, "I don't know, Seldi, do you??"
11. <3 The curve the results have got going so far.
12. Hmm. Seldi says these things, though I don't know if they're things that people would actually say in Eorzea: "(To) the void with you!" = "(To) Hell with you!" / "Damn you!" "Void sent" = "Damned" (As a noun or adjective) "Nunh" = Basically, "Man Whore". Not a compliment. (Interestingly, does not have a word for the female equivalent, though she doesn't approve of that, either). There's a few other ones she uses, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
13. INTP I've done this test before in many places (including an official one administered by a psychologist), and INTP is what I tend to get. I do prefer this site for the description, though the one on the OP's linked website is good as well. The only problem I have is that I'm not sure if my answers to the test are who I am, or who I wish I was. ...Which seems to fit the personality type, really.
14. I've done this before in other games, and it's hard to make work. You'll get people dismissing you OOC constantly, unless you've already made yourself known as a "legitimate" RPer. It's really the kind of thing that almost requires supoorting roleplayes. Still, hope I run across you. It would be interesting to see how you work it.
15. I would hope that "politely" doing anything is non-offensive by design. That aside, I typically don't correct anyone's grammar/spelling other than my own. I do make exceptions for "repeat offenders", but I usually do so privately with the intention of sparing them further embarrassment from a continued mistake. Ultimately, I don't expect anything even nearing perfection, and I only really care if the mistakes are making things unclear. For example: "this weekend i helped my uncle jack off a chocobo" ^ I'd request clarification on that really, really fast.
16. Difficult to say. Seldi's course was significantly altered by the Calamity. Then again, so was the entire course of history, most likely. It's hard to say where she'd be if that hadn't happened, because it's hard to say where Eorzea would be.
17. Probably would have turned traitor for Gaius van Baelsar. ...What? Don't look at me like that.
18. I'm guilty of being holed up in my FC house most of the time. (Can you blame me? It's an awesome house. Cafe and beaches, yissssss) Though, I'm always happy to change venues. I just need to be called away, y'know?
19. There is no calendar. It's a scam to get pictures of scantily clad miqo men. And non miqo men. /approves.
20. Posting to express my love and give the thread a bump so others can feel the love.
21. Seldi is simply not skilled enough to use teleportation magic. Being a courier, she would use it all the time if she was capable. (Or so she claims, anyways.) Personally, I prefer not to use it. I like the trip, and will frequently run from place to place rather than use the athernet, even when doing PvE! I do teleport in certain situations. In particular: When I'm in a hurry or just plain impatient. As for roleplay? Don't care. I'll teleport if the group wants, or travel if the group wants. I'm flexible like that.
22. My character isn't exactly fearless, but she's frequently out on the road, and has been acosted by many a bandit. She's learned to play the situations by ear, whether they call for intimidation or pretending to cower. In the end, though, there's not a lot your standard six races can do to scare her. Intimidate? Sure. Scare? Not really. But I rarely give my characters a strength without some sort of cost. She's not afraid because she's used to people being awful. Unfortunately, being used to people being awful means you'll have trouble opening up and being empathetic. Given that she craves people to call a family, that's not a good trait to possess. Seldi likes few people (though she'll pretend otherwise), and she's just barely friends with them. It's likely they'll grow tired of her seemingly aloof and fickle nature, and abandon her.
