  1. If the server was hitting some kind of storage cap, people wouldn't be able to even transfer characters. Character creation is on its own lobby server anyway (as evidenced by how you don't even pick your server until the very end), so I am not so sure the problem is some sort of Balmung population-induced cap. I think the blame falls on their horrendous login/lobby servers, which would make sense considering those were the things that have ALWAYS caused the worst of the game's connection problems. This whole thing just smells really fishy to me. If Balmung was hitting its population cap, they'd shut down transfers too. But oh, wait! Transfers earn them money. Yup. That's why. *Quietly hands Naunet a tinfoil hat.*
  2. Same here. Back to the drawing board, I think... Screw that, I'm done worrying about other people's RP (that's what ruined Miqo'te for me). I'm sticking to it.
  3. ....wow. This is very similar to what my friend and I are hoping to do, lore permitting.
  4. The most tragic thing about gamergate is that it could've been the kick in the pants the travesty that is gaming "journalism" needed to shape up and stop being a shill for the publishers and developers, but instead it was hijacked as a vehicle for misogynists to spew their filth everywhere.
  5. I thought they stated they were going to add more wards as needed? Though I suppose them focusing on the Gold Saucer might be a little distracting.
  6. I am max hype for this. Let's just say a P5 MC cosplay may be in the future for me.
  7. Nah, transvestite definitely has fetish connotations, to the point where "wholesome cross-dressers" started using said phrase just to avoid said connotations. From the wikipedia article on the subject: Now, it IS a bit silly since transvestite literally means the same thing, but social mores tend to be weird like that. It's a little silly, but as you said social mores bestow connotations. Myself and many other males that enjoy feeling pretty on occasion simply are not comfortable with the word transvestite as it was hijacked, given a fetish bend, and liberally used as a slur. It may not seem that way now, but that's because it's a dated term that you rarely see these days. Personally I don't even like the term cross-dresser because it genders clothing, but the real world isn't tumblr, so I'll live with it. Hell I don't even think it's possible for women in the modern, rational, western world to be considered a cross-dresser anymore because it's become mostly socially acceptable for them to wear whatever they want.
  8. Invaded a ton of people who came back to check out the Scholar of the First Sin patch last night. My Guardian of the Blue was ravenous for sinners~ Of course, I forgot to record anything, again.
  9. Really as long as you do at least the expert roulette or frontlines roulette every day you'll hit the cap before the end of the week. Worrying about fast poetics acquisition comes up only if you're trying to push an upgrade before your static's weekly coil run.
  10. Yeah, you can still beat the min-maxxers though, not always, but it's possible. My own "punish the sinners" invasion build was more RP than optimal.
  11. <3 Dark Souls. I would sometimes record my invasions, caught this gem once. W1OY-oFPSRA
  12. Transvestite has a sexual fetish connotation focused on gendered clothing that doesn't apply to Faris. She was a woman living among pirates that hid her gender for her own safety, not because she got a sexual kick out of masquerading as a man. Although during the ending she's very uncomfortable wearing a dress I think that's more because she doesn't like the idea of being forced into a gender stereotype she doesn't agree with.
  13. Same here. Looking forward to that naming-convention post~ I mean, I'm assuming there's going to be one, but I don't know for sure.
  14. Let's be realistic here, this is exactly what it's going to be.
  15. Our Dragoon is on PS4. He uses his phone or laptop to skype with us, so no worries.
  16. Waiting for the naming conventions post, that's about it really.
  17. For me, it confirms it as more than just a concession for modern minded players.
  18. On a scale of one to ten I give your puns Elezen.
  19. Citation needed, I really doubt this one because I would definitely have heard of it by now.
  20. What's even more interesting about the Wanderer's Palace HM quest is that the gay couple doesn't talk about their being the same gender directly at all as a problem, but they do so about being an interracial couple. Says a lot about Eorzean culture.
  21. A comment about rarely seeing ears, tails, and scent in RP exactly means that I expect people to use it ALL THE TIME or they're not doing Miqo'te RP right. /s Seriously this misconception about my meaning had me double checking my posts to make sure I didn't completely mess up my phrasing. This is what I mean: Stuff like this. I don't mean emoting all the time that a Miqo'te's tail moved, or that their ears are well, cat ears, I'm on about how these tools of expression go severely underused in general.
  22. While I appreciate the effort Zhavi, I retired Rakka'li over a month ago and am not really interested in trying again. A break from RP until Heavensward will do me good. I briefly considered writing a way for him to be non-traditional to get away from the mess that is "traditional Miqo'te RP", but at this point I'm totally enchanted by the idea of AuRa and far too burned out from Miqo'te stuff to put in the effort. But here's some advice I have for people trying to find a niche: Re-using FreeLanceWizard's words here, but anyway, stick to your guns. Don't force yourself to put up with RP you have severe problems with - like lore breaking, slight godmoding, or sudden retcons - because the alternative is to not RP with that group. You'll just end up not having fun. Find people that "pay it forward". If the only RP you seem to get from a group involves furthering their personal goals or giving them attention while your character is barely considered, dump them. Don't hold out expecting them to consider your character, they won't. Steer clear of fetishism. This one might be hard to spot because some of these role players disguise themselves as trying to build an edgy narrative with a taboo subject, but it's important because this sort of role player will abandon you once the fetish play has lost its luster, leaving you with hanging threads and an awkward history. Make sure you're on the same page philosophically. If your ideas about RP are at odds with the rest of the group, leave. This could be about anything (what's "allowed" to be RP'd, what level of lore-bending is permitted, etc). If you don't establish this properly you can end up in an awkward situation where everyone else is happy but you. I was so desperate to find the sort of RP I was looking for that I didn't do any of these things that I normally do, and it was a big mistake.
  23. Sarcasm aside Zhavi, I've been all up and down that road (aside from actually posting on the forums, I prefer to approach people more directly, anyway) and it's been ruined every single time. I frankly just got tired of trying after a year and a half. I'm a picky RPer, and obviously I've considered doing it myself, but by now I'm so disgusted by my experiences that I just chose to give up entirely.
  24. I never thought of that before! I'll just hop back on my male Keeper Miqo'te and start a traditional clan based group that's highly matria- Whoops.
