  1. Ishgardian names tend to sound French, so if you aim for a francophonic name you'll probably be on point. Also, for player-made lesser nobility, there's this thread.
  2. I haven't gone so far as to invent a Job Crystal or anything, though that might be a fun Photoshop adventure, but I consider Andromeda to be inching closer to becoming a proper Final Fantasy Thief. At present, she's still considered a Rogue ICly, but given her interests, history and the fact that Ninja doesn't really suit her IC, a Thief would be a good way to go about this. I'm curious, how taboo would it be to create a Job Crystal for a Final Fantasy job that isn't in XIV? How lorebreaking, particularly if very little of the lore behind it is explored in preparation for one eventually potentially being implemented?
  3. I have Illua, who is a fairly typical Garlean defector with a small bit of personal flair. She's got the magitek and gun skills down if you want someone to be all typical ex-Garlean.
  4. I know of a few RP groups on Lamia, but having been active on Tonberry, Leviathan, Jenova, Faerie, Lamia and Balmung, only the last one has an 'out-of-the-closet RP community'. I got the impression that RP anywhere by Balmung and Gilgamesh is something done almost exclusively privately for fear of harassment. Of course, that's with the grain of salt that those were my personal experiences.
  5. I'll be bringing Sasaca Saca by to give a hand with security as well, I've chatted with Nataylea about it already. I also take a lot of pictures at events and can put together a flyer for Tumblr if you need help with that. Looking forward to the tea party!
  6. Andromeda's philosophy on deities is "I leave them alone and they leave me alone." As for the worship of deities, she sees it as a way to maintain oppression of others without worrying about social ramifications. It's easy to hurt someone if a God commanded it.
  7. Iris Blanchimont: Izayoi Tokushi: Andromeda Dulaque
  8. My old Lodestone blog was about this, actually. Iris thought the Scions were misguided, especially after Ysyale. Still, she worked with them largely because bad things happened when she didn't. Also, her 1.0 girlfriend never came back to the game that I know of, so I said she died at Carteneau.
  9. Review for The Drowning Wench:
  10. Iris - The most unlikely series of events to ever produce an Ishgardian noble. Ever. Izayoi - Turns out Eorzea didn't need more couriers.
  11. Hey, you! If you see anyone from the free company on Lamia ask them about the Codex Linkshell. We have a pretty nice little RP community. Plus, I still exist there!
  12. Iris Blanchimont has absurdly low alcohol tolerance. She can get pretty gone on a single glass of good wine. As a result, and possibly as a cause, she almost never drinks. Beatrix Blanchimont gets terrible nausea after aetheryte travel, so she prefers boats, airships and chocobos. Izayoi Tokushi's tail has a habit of hitting anyone who sleeps beside her, likely part of why she cannot keep a stable relationship.
  13. I did find an LS, Codex, but I'm still hoping to find others.

  15. Iris' new girlfriend is the only other RPer I've really interacted with. I really feel sad that you only get a good RP experience on two full servers.
  16. Iris would probably be a Blue Mage or a Summoner who is a temporary party member, maybe a secret recruitable character? I see her as being an expert on a topic the party needs to turn to for assistance with a very Quistis-like educated and prim personality. If a Summoner, she would have some of the less common FF summons like Griever, Madeen and Valefor. If a Blue Mage she'd probably come with White Wind and Thousand Needle. If not a party member, Iris would be a shopkeeper most likely, but again one the party must turn to as she's an expert on a given topic. She also would be the character to explain the game's item creation system and would give the player access to a Synth Shop. If the game follows a traditional Limit system, Iris' would be Rikku's Mix entitled Rapid Synth. Beatrix herself was loosely inspired by Beatrix from FF9, so she'd be a Paladin with a few more White Mage abilities. Based on the adaptations I've made to the character to fit my purposes, Bea would be a roaming knight who likely would need to be recruited by defeating her in battle multiple times. Her reason for joining the party will be similar to Amarnt or Red XIII in that it's not really all that clear-cut. In a traditional Limit system hers would be a move that deals moderate damage to all enemies and gives other allies Protect called Astral Cross.
  17. I've been a tabletop RPer for years and a text RPer for eons but I've never been too detailed about RPing in FF14 until now. Of course, the servers for RP are really tough to get on so I find myself out on Lamia and Faerie lacking much in the way of other RPers I know. I do have in-character Lodestone diaries for my main character Iris Blanchimont and her aunt, my alt Beatrix. I've been playing FF14 on and off since the 1.0 beta and have been a lifelong fan of the franchise. The rich story and worldbuilding of 14 are what keep me coming back every day, and its become my top way to deal with stress caused by real life.
  18. Server: Lamia, Faerie Noble House Name: House Blanchimont Pledging/Related/Serving to High House: Pre-Heavensward Durendaire, Mid-HW on Fortemps Description: House Blanchimont has some small reputation as soldiers for Durendaire, but in truth the majority of their influence comes from the number of skilled alchemists and healers that have born the name Blanchimont. In recent years, however, House Blanchimont has faced several minor scandals as several of the Lord's children have left Ishgard for southern Eorzea and greatly distanced themselves from the Holy See, the eldest son going so far as to declare himself an unbeliever and adopting a Miqo'te daughter. Because of these scandals, when Lord Arstide died defending the city after the dragon horde broke the city walls, the house was thrown into turmoil. Some wanted Felt, the eldest son, to assume his role as Lord, some wanted Felt's daughter, Iris, to ascend to the position due to her prominent role as a Scion of the Seventh Dawn. Still others fought for a minor cousin or other. Because of the unpleasant possibility to have an unbeliever or a foreigner as a noble lord, Durendaire quietly declared Blanchimont's lands vacated. However, due to the prestige granted Iris Blanchimont in the defense of the Steps of Faith and the Scions' long friendship with House Fortemps, the family's nobility was reinstated by the other High Noble house. This was contested by Durendaire until the Scions were honored by the Archbishop following the defense of their order in Trial by Combat by the Warrior of Light him/herself. Included Races: Elezen Wildwood and Duskwight are the overwhelming majority, other races are ostracized by the house pre-HW change in leadership. Members: Lady Iris Blanchimont: Current house matriarch, albeit a very permissive one. Most day-to-day affairs of the house are left to other prominent family members as duties (and shirking of responsibility) often require Iris elsewhere. A Miqo'te found adrift off Vylbrand's coast and adopted by Felt Blanchimont. PC on Lamia. Lord Arstide du Blanchimont ✝:Former patriarch, killed during the ward breach in 7AE 1 defending the people of Ishgard from dragon attack. He was very forgiving of his eldest son and daughter and doted heavily on them. Lady Jeanne du Blanchimont ✝: Wife of Arstide. Jeanne was one of the alchemists working on the plague that affected Ishgard's chocobo stock in late 6AE. She died shortly after the calamity from complications due to the sudden change in Coerthas' climate. Felt Blanchimont: Father of Iris, unsuitable for patriarch due to controversial statements about the Archbishop and the Holy See. Felt has worked as a trader between Limsa Lominsa and Ul'dah. He dropped the 'du' from his name to better fit in with southern culture. Eldest child of Arstide. Visse Blanchimont ✝: Felt's sister and part-time caretaker of Iris. Visse worked as an alchemist in Limsa Lominsa until 6AE 1564 when she responded to a crisis in Thanalan. She died treating those injured in the Mythril Pit incident. Second child of Arstide. Beatrix du Blanchimont: Youngest sister of Felt and Visse, she left Ishgard out of jealousy over her father's favoritism. She was considered a contender for matriarch following Arstide's death but ultimately lacked family support for the position due to relatively few significant meritorious acts in service to Ishgard. PC on Faerie. Footnote: Not sure how feasible this backstory is, I'm not done with HW so I'm not perfect on Ishgard society lore.
