So I will preface this by saying you are able to rp whatever you desire, and no one can stop you. What matters most is that you enjoy what you are doing. Now down to the nitty gritty. First off so far the only confirmed races in Othard are Hyur, Lalafell, Au Ra, and Roe. We have no indication of any miqo'te or elezen there so do keep that in mind. We will not recieve any confirmation on Othardian races until SB is released so a lot is up in the air. Another note in regards to Ishgard. 10% of the population of Ishgard is something other than Elezen or Hyur, so while it could be possible it is highly unlikely that a Miqo'te would even be able to make much of a living there. Chances are they'd be lower caste and living in the Foundation if not the Brume. As for the Dragoon thing, as someone whose character was affected by the hard number on Dragoons, you have to be careful with this. The Order of the Dragoon only takes the best of the best from the ranks of the Temple Knights. So first your character would had to have been a Temple Knight on top of having killed a dragon. In addition training for Dragoons is severe and brutal, most who go into it wash out. So I'm not saying it is impossible, but you would need to heavily modify some of the back story there in order to make it work. Especially since the Gates of Judgement were closed to ALL outsiders for twenty years prior to the events of HW.

I read the article and its pretty good, though I think you might've rated Astrologian a bit high. If its getting a hold of a Soul Crystal then, yes, that's probably where it belongs. If its learning how to be an Astrologian, then the ending of the 50-60 AST quests shows us that the teaching will be spread, so really, it wouldn't be difficult to learn it from scratch. One thing to keep in mind this teaching was only started within like the last year in lore. So with that anyone not of Sharlayan birth would likely be able to do nothing more than the most basic of Astrologian spells. I actually really like that write up though Kilieit and will keep that on bookmark for future use. Though iirc from the Bard questline I thought there was actually now a contingent of Bards within the Gods' Quiver. I'll be the first to admit though I really didn't pay attention to the 50-60 quests.

Honestly there was no way they were going to please everyone with this. It really also shouldn't surprise us they went with California. They most likely did extensive research on it, and the largest MMO still to date has its servers there as well. For all the shit we give it WoW never really was hated on for having their servers in California. That said my ping has plummeted. Before the move I was sitting anywhere between 500-1k MS and now I will be at 32 ms, granted I am on the West Coast as well. As others have stated the ping was never really the overall issue as much as the routing itself was.

Thank you to all who came out to support our event both during the EU time slot and the NA time slot. We would like to offer a special thanks to Maril and Himeko for making sure things ran smoothly for the dances and the contest. And finally a super special thanks to Teadrinker who was kind enough to coordinate this and put it all together and decorate it all. Hope you all had fun! Some pics ((I am terrible at remembering to take these, if any others have some they would like to share feel free)) https://i.imgur.com/9mYQg4y.png[/img] https://i.imgur.com/YhN1l4p.png[/img]

discussion Your thoughts on jump potions?
Silmanos replied to Parth Makeo's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Honestly I dislike the idea of jump potions, what is the point of playing a story driven game if you are skipping through the story? Getting through the MSQ is so laughably easy the only thing that slows you down is the queues. I've gotten a character from 1-60 in three weeks with casual play and stopping to RP. Granted I was a healer so my queues were really short. Its taking a bit longer for my next alt that I am going through on. The biggest issue is all of the things that you have to do for those who can't afford the jump potions or don't want to. All of a sudden that 15 min queue for Shiva HM becomes a 45 minute queue time, and those without the funds aside from the amount to pay 15/mo are left with the sit around till you are dead in a queue or just quit. I can tell you how most will respond to that. -
Wayfarer's Gift Giveaway: Starlight Celebration Giveaway!!!

Thanks again for doing this! -
I will grant that Shiva and Thordan were definitely a departure from the norm on Primals though that has a lot do with how they are summoned. Using something like that can still be a bit iffy because they go against a lot of what we know about primals and have seen no other examples aside from those two. Is it impossible? No. Is it likely? Not really. As for the white auracite the only issue I can really see with usung it is that SE seems to not be able to agree with itself on that one. It can hold primal energies but the question becomes how much. Its very much stated that a soul of an ascian is too much for it to hold indefinitely. That said I can agree that it can hold some enrgy from a primal but doubtful in the means that are being looked at here. Honestly I wish we knew more about it, because just from how things are written in the msq I get the feeling that is far from a common mineral.

Help with my Character Bio/Background
Silmanos replied to Kuji The GR8 Wolf's topic in RP Discussion
I just wanted to say that this statement is up for interpretation, and further passages in the lore book seem to make this particular interpretation very unlikely. I suggest it's more likely the passage you're referring to means "the huge majority of Domans and Raen speak trade languages that would allow them to be easily understood in Eorzea", not "Doma doesn't have its own local language". Other than that: OP, I agree with what the posters above me have said. I also think you should credit the person whose template you're using. Ah that I was unaware of. I was only aware of the main passage, honestly hoping to be able to get a copy of the full book myself eventually. Can't find a copy of the Ishgard pages anywhere, but hey the additional passages do sound like that discuss that a bit more which is nice since the one that alludes to that doesn't elaborate very much. Edit: Because my phone is a pain -
Help with my Character Bio/Background
Silmanos replied to Kuji The GR8 Wolf's topic in RP Discussion
Faye hit a lot of the main points I would have covered. But here are a few I would like to reiterate and others that I noticed: -It is really confusing how the pronoun used kept changing through the sheet and left me wondering what the actual gender of the character actually is. -Also as Faye so the region of the world that is Japanese culture based is Doma and would be where all of that would come from. As Little Ala Mhigo would be a rather unwelcoming place most likely for Doman refugees it would be unlikely to run into many there if any at all. Another thing to note is the use of Japanese words themselves. As stated in the lore book Domans and Raen speak the exact same language as Eorzeans just in a different dialect. Now there can be a bit of confusion as Ninja abilities are very much Japanese heavy in their names but it should be noted that the game is originally written and intended for Japanese audiences so to them there literally is nothing off about it in the slightest cause it is all the same language even as they see it in game. Just food for thought there. -I am going to assume based off of the names used for his siblings and parents that they are actually lalafell. If not it would be something to note that male miqo'te are not common and for more than one, or even two from a single pairing to happen is beyond rare. -As for his experience with the guilds there are a lot there and depending on his age it would make him unusually well traveled, not to mention training in so many disciplines will over all make him rather weak in each one, especially since a few months is barely even enough time to cover basics. Its normally best to stick to one skill set for a character for them to focus on and have a few others that are okay. In addition to that while the Gladiator guild and the Marauder guild are welcoming of outsiders it should be noted that Gridania and the conjurer's guild not so much. So it would be good to highlight the kind of difficulties he would face. Remember in Gridanians are actually quite racist to even the Duskwights and Keepers of the Moon that already live in the Shroud. -
So as far as lore compliance there is nothing in the FF universe that would conform to that. All primals must be summoned by someone/a group of people and they are nothing but a physical embodiment of the desires and wishes of those who summon them. In addition a Primal's body immediately dissipates upon its death so it would not be able to be broken down into crystals, or at least there is nothing in lore that suggests that being possible seeing as the closest thing would be white auracite but that is extremely temporary. This does not of course take account that the scions actively monitor for primal summoning and hunt them down. As for the Hydalen part so far the only indication of Hydalen speaking to anyone in Lore are those with the Blessing of Light, or those close to one with the Blessing of Light. A very very very very rare thing indeed. That said no one is going to tell you how to RP and you are free to RP what you want. That is just criticism based on the lore itself. In addition by having things like that it can indeed limit those who may be willing to rp something that deviates from the established lore like that and can also be a possible reason why you are having a hard time with recruitment. It is very niche and you would have to find those interested in such a niche.

Reindhold is a sleepy drunk. Sure he does lose some of his inhibitions and becomes more open with people but once he is legit drunk he is just tired. At that point there is very little that can get betweem him and bed... well okay as a drinking contest showed stairs are an enemy to a drunk retired dragoon. As for my other character Rhela, well she is an alcoholoc through and through. Good job Limsa you mansged to corrupt another one. When she gets drunk everything becomes a thousand times more amusing and every one that walks in front of her is a potential bed warming companion. .. if she even makes it to bed. She has been known just to pass out on the tavern floor.

Yeah I thought anyone who killed a Dragon was a Dragoon. The 30 are just like the cool kids club. I used Paladins before, but maybe Monetarists are a better example? There are only 6 rich people on the Syndicate, however you can be an incredibly rich noble in Uldah, with lots of power. You can be an incredibly skilled dragoon with the soulstone who has killed a Dragon... but maybe you're not cool enough to be on the cool kids club. It's all politics really. There are two different types of 'dragoon'. You have a dragoon who is someone who has killed a dragon and then you have a Knight Dragoon which is someone who has received training from the Order and actually does the jumps.

discussion [Spoilers] 3.4 MSQ Discussion Thread
Silmanos replied to GhostlyMaiden's topic in FFXIV Discussion
YES! I was very concerned and just thinking, "Hey now, stop that!" We drank wine. We dead. At least it was a nice dinner. The face the WoL does while that servant pours the wine in that almsot intolerable moment of suspense... "Not gonna get poisoned twice in my drink thank you very much". I watched that part and just sat back and said, "Yep, he's going to die now." -
Rp'rs going for certain wards w/apartments?
Silmanos replied to Niteshade_Rune's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Subdivisions are in fact included so it would be up to 36k apartments. The question is how fast are they going to make them available? Is it really going to be immediate or will it take a minor patch? I remain skeptical and will assume the latter because this is SE. -
Yeah thats a no for me. Just no. I won't go out of my way to call them out but I will not interact with them at all. Like I know many people have their characters only mildly aware of msq events at best but even then I imagine most Ishgardian characters would know of things that have happened to Haurchefant and Aymeric and thats a can of worms I won't deal with as an Ishgardian rper. So I will stay away. If they force it on me... my character can and will completely laugh in their face and call them out on being an imposter, especially if they are related to Ishgard.

I know for a fact I break Lil's second commandment almost on a daily basis. Though when helping to run a fc, and helping put together several plots at one time its esier to just say "Poke me if you want to rp because I always have a mile long list of stuff to do." I. Thou shalt always communicate with thine rp partners II. Thou shalt not get jealous if thy rp partner rps with another. III. Thou shalt not vanish without a word to thy partner. IV. Thou shalt not break lore. Thou may bendeth the grey, but thou must be creative and reasonable. V. Thou shalt not useth mew or nya in thy posts. I careth not if thou be a miqo'te, thou shalt not do so. VI. Thou must stray from those that be the mary. No thou may not be the dragoon, white mage, and black mage all at once. VII. Thy au ra shalt not be a dragon or voidsent. I careth not what they look like, the almighty devs sayeth they are not. VIII. Thou must respect mine rp as I respecteth yours. I careth not if thou rps a voidsent, push it on mine own rp and my kight shall slayeth thee. IX. Thou shalt allow characters to be human and grow. If thou disappears mine own character shall move on, thou shalt not hold him captive to thy whim. X. Thou shalt stop me from ever using Elizabethan agan for I am terrible at it.

Reinhold: If female: Reinhold stood there a bit perplexed at the gesture as he feels a slight flush rising to his cheek. Looking at the person with an incredulous expression he asks, "What in the seven hells are you drinking and where can I find myself some?" If male: Reinhold considers the man for a moment wondering why someone would ever think that was okay. "I don't know where you come from that you think what you did is acceptable, but you should probably tell me what you want on your tombstone if you do that again." Masaki: The raen glares at the person who decided it was necessary to invade her personal space over the top of his glasses. He quickly draws his kodachi while grabbing the person's wrist with his other hand. "So, which finger did you want to lose today?" he asked darkly, "Chose or I will just cut off the whole hand."

Currently Recruitment is closed while we take time to get our newer members settled in. That does not mean our doors are closed forever. You are always more than welcome to drop by for RP in our Tavern, and recruitment may be reopened at any time.

With FF14 it is different because classes and jobs do exist in lore. That said with my Conjurer I never used the abilities name, though I did use the abilities as a reference. In addition Conjurer spells were limited to certain elements for game play reasons not lore reasons so in reality a conjurer if they had been practicing before the calamity would be trained in all the elements. Its a little more difficult for things like Dragoons, as they mix things in a rather interesting away. Yet again I do not use ability names, but I do study the animations of the abilities as again a reference point for explaining the things my character does.
