Roleplay speed in a scene with multuple players(more than 4)
Kallera posted a topic in RP Discussion
I'm in a long term campaign with a large number of people on discord, and I tend to enjoy going at a decent clip with responses, even when my character isn't majorly contributing to the action. Though I know not everyone is like this. One concern that was run into was people having to deal with time skips or the action having gone ahead of their character between postings. How do people deal with this? The speed of the canpaign and making sure everyone gets their action in seems to be a tightrope walk that is difficult to get around, especially when your character is relying on another's response, or want to bring someone in but don't know how long they'll be replying. Is that the case for large parties of roleplayers in general? How do people and the campaign "DM" prepare for this? -
The blast that destroyed Bozja(sp?) Citadel, and the blast that leveled the Isle of Val. Was it proven that they were different phenomena, or could they be the same?

I came to the conclusion a while back that, while the Garlean representation isn't as bad or the only thing I was taking issue with, the result is I've kinda lost faith in the setting and the WoL character. As if my sense of disbelief has been busted with the MSQ. I don't even know how or if it is possible for a story to get that back, but it has me on autopilot with the endgame content. I'm trying to wrap my head around liking the roleplay, but seeing the game like this.

It's funny, we have a shortage of male characters in our RP group! My character is female, though I sometimes wonder what the difference would be if I plaged the other gender, maybe be a bit less worried about social standing, a bit more "energetic" with a more "rouse and rile" method of cheering people up.

[The Dollhouse] Free Sketches & Chibis <Accepting Requests>
Kallera replied to AishaHeartfield's topic in Artisan House
I -think- I saw the scar :< But not sure if I got the right position. It's an easy adjustment, just let me know. I think you have got it, here is a clearer pic. -
This is an interesting thread I walked in on, precisely because I had mentioned public rp as a way to expand our ls/fc and maybe get some more activity going on in game. Right now our fc/ls has been in a slow period due to players getting into stormblood and leveling content. Most of our major players has gotten through, enough to roleplay events. Other than the standard bar theme, what sort of things should I consider when making roleplay scenes with say chat in mind on A non rp server? Should I approach this more like a play with responses beforehand to make things fast? Or let the rp happen naturally respond in say?

[The Dollhouse] Free Sketches & Chibis <Accepting Requests>

all right, here's something: Kallera Etoile remember the freckles/scar! As for expression, give her a reserved or a distracted look. like a quest giver with something bugging her. (let me know if you need closer specifics) good luck! I believe in you! -
So, forum journal rp?

Well, ther are always the interludes or using a forum post to complement the major/recurring events during the run (I would totally be down for something here describing individual forays per 10 floors., I'm not sure if im on your datacenter.)

I've thought about the idea a few times, but I'm not sure how to go about it....

I hope Lyse's attitude causes problems in the aftermath of 4.0, maybe get hit hard with the realities of freedom and liberty meaning not everyone has to listen to her or think she's doing a good job of things. Or that her and hien's message of rebellion sprials out of control intro an endorsement of terrorism. But maybe I'm a touch jaded with recent rl episodes of people talking "freedom from tyranny"... What I hope doesn't happen is that her personality problems gets resolved in some off screen epiphany or one of SE's fan fiction entries.

When part of your rp is heavily explored in lore
Kallera replied to Thorbought's topic in RP Discussion
It was always a thing that negative emotions play a part in invoking a Dark Knight's power. So I was a little more than pleased when aspect of despair and shame were explored in the 60-70 quests, which so happened to be how Kallera uses hers. -
by tempered, you mean...?

Rest your weary head, corruption is alive and well in both Othard and Eorzea. Even the Sekiseigumi are not immune.

I finished the msq last night, and while it did turn out better than arr, I do share a lot of the gripes people have with Lyse. I got the impression (from Yotsuyu's and Fodola's characterization) that a lot of the hard times came about from ongoing attempts at rebellion, and of course, Zenos being a psychopath brought things to a head. I do like that i'm starting to see parallels to Eorzea's situation now and Garlemald's many years ago. Makes me truly appreciate Elidibus as an utter chessmaster compared to the twirling mustaches of his black robed peers.

I overall liked the MSQ. Zenos was an interesting villain, and I felt like giving your main character input at what they are experiencing was a great move, and one i had been hoping for since 2.0. Like so many, there were some things that didn't sit right with me. Lyse(and many others, but especiqlly Lyse)'s badgering on about "freedom and liberty" ended up sounding hollow, almost eye rolling, like if Zenos wasn't the nutball that he was, it would not have worked, or that the vice tightened on the provinces because of the resistance's actions(which I was ready to hear the dreaded t-word, but it never came up...) I'd be surprised if we see Fodola again. She seemed like a relic of sane garlean governance, that ultimately couldn't play out under Zenos', who was more into his wacky safari than governance, and Fodola had no place in the new Ala Mihgo, but so as not to get the good guys' hands dirty they just made Fodola's hands dirty instead.

There is literally a whole side quest chain about a whole town not wanting to give up a Garlean officer to the Alliance because he was a decent human being and they liked him. Well, I did not get to that chain yet. ^^;;;

I'm not sure about the story. It feels like the garleans are both more varied and less. Like I think My biggest problem is that the game hammers it home every second that they are all, to a man, irredeemable and should all be destroyed. I have a worry that this is going to be swept under the rug(via , say, the emperor killing everything himself or showing pure garleans to be a "manufactured" race) or result in the alliance doing the same oppression, sans consequenses. I'm not a big fan of Alisaie and even less of Lyse, but I do like Yugiri and Gosetsu. As a tank, I've been having a lot of fun, though I wonder about if the wheels will fall off when people get their hands on the meta and start overgearing, especially in the face of increased difficulty with tanking. And I want to hear the Dungeon Boss theme obsessively. I do dungeons just to hear that theme!

I figure the constant conflicts that involves a character has to at some point come to a head, myself. Inner demons are definitely something Kallera will have to face one day, and not merely because of being a dark knight.

Yeah, there is also the matter of the sekisegumi having the right to kill those who resist arrest. A threat that likely will be stuck to npcs only.
